Normally I don't like stories where the ML has to redeem himself but he's so freaking pathetic with guilt that it's fun to watch. He's too afraid beg for forgiveness because he thinks he doesn't deserve it and would be crushed to hear her say so, and also he knows it would be burdensome to her, the victim. At one point he's afraid she'd rather die than let him save her life and desperately pleads her to live (meanwhile she's just doing her own thing). <<less
