this a transmigration novel with a narrative combo to “how to survive as a villain” and “mo dao zu shi”.

if you enjoyed either of those, you’ll most likely enjoy this one. the original MC mistreated the ml, like in htsaav, the ML came from a righteous upright sect, like lwj in mdzs. the transmigrator MC did his best to treat the ML kindly instead of harassing him like in htsaav, and the MC was demonised and vilified by the cultivation community for his demonic ways and heresy, like how wwx... more>> was treated in mdzs.

therefore, even the romantic plot bears a resemblance. ML waits for 9 years after the end of the book’s plot and MC behaves like he’s not an incarnation of the dead MC and the engage in the usual shenanigans.

i can’t say much. the MC is likeable. a little bit silly. he’s character behaves just like title... he just wants to finish the script. he may seem a bit lackadaisical about general on-goings but he’s actually quite shrewd and caring.

i got kind of frustrated when he was playing the role of fool because he was doing it terribly esp when he already knew the ml, xie huai knew it was him. like the acts up... why keep at it. the misunderstanding is also a little bit frustrating mostly due to how the author writes... there’s a lot of soliloquy and stream of consciousness and not enough dialogue. like if the ml, actually spoke the tumultuous emotions he was feeling instead of trapping himself and having 5 paragraphs of a monologue with only us, the readers, a lot of matters could have been cleared up by chapter 50 lol.

the full reciprocation of feelings only happens at like chapter 69 which is like 90% into the novel so you’ll have to bear with the MC being a little bit insufferable convinced he’s 100% straight and the ML going thru like a minor existential life crisis everytime the MC behaves tender to another person that’s not him.

Excellent story and translation by heliotraipse. 11/10 translation. I am so in love with this story.

An excellent plotline and some of my fave tropes done well: misunderstandings in love but not terribly dogblooded, straight guy realizing he's bent, and gongshou reversal. So so good.

It's basically about our MC who transmigrated into a Demonic Cultivator - Demon Lord. He's really strong but it comes at a cost. The Demon Lord is going to die. MC's task is merely to finish the storyline and after he dies as the Demon Lord, the... more>> System will grant him another body to live in. MC just has to go through the sadomasochistic storyline. However MC doesn't like this noncon dubcon forceful love storyline with the ML. So he does it his way. Naturally ML falls for our MC. And yeah, basically what the summary says happens. What I liked is how the author wrote the emotions of the ML. ML's thoughts are written together with MC and we have the god-like perspective of what's happening. So we know there are misunderstandings happening due to MC not telling the truth and lying 90% of the time, and ML being too smart for his own good and getting wrong conclusions based on very true facts.

For example, he knows MC did not love him but has to put on a show of "love" and he thinks its due to MC trying to use him. Or when he finds out he's actually a substitute for shixiong but actually oriMC/Yan Sui is the one thinking that way and our MC Fang Li doesn't consider him a substitute. The premise is right, but wrong at the same time because ML doesn't know that Fang Li is a transmigrator. So yeah, misunderstandings done right imo.

The romance is so great because its slow build and we get to see how ML falls for MC and vice versa. Eventhough ML does get a bit forceful later on, I kinda think he's valid since MC did hurt him pretty badly and if he didn't do so I don't think MC would have come to terms with the fact that he liked ML. Anyway, it's also one of my fave tropes and ML doesn't go too far that he goes yandere so I'm okay with it. I absolutely love the angst that came with the misunderstandings but how it all got solved at the end with a great HE. I wish there were more extras on Wu Yimei. And that last extra is interesting but I felt could be written more. I hope Shixiong x Yan Sui gets their happy ending too. Really great story. <<less

I’ll be honest, when I first saw that this was a comedy I was very reluctant to read it. That is because most novel comedies I’ve read seems to be on the basis of the MC being a complete and utter idiot who thinks they are smart but wouldn’t be able to logic their way out of a paper bag.

This novel is not like that. The comedy is based on the misunderstandings of the MC and ML, with the MC actually having a brain and said misunderstandings being completely understandable... more>> based on their perspectives. So in this aspect it’s already a very rare find.

This is honestly a great novel to read, especially if you are first getting into cultivation novels as it does not have so many different cultivation levels for you to remember. The plot is very decent, with no plot holes as far as I can see, everything that you may have thought wouldn’t get covered at the beginning is explained by the end.

For those who are fans of MDZS, I think this novel would also be for you. The MC and ML make me thing of WWX and LWJ in another life.

10/10, definitely recommend. <<less

The story is nice with good pacing, until the usually calm and righteous ML unnaturally becomes overly obsessive, jealous, and yandera over the MC.

The non con starts and stops too abruptly in like 3 chapters.

I think it would be much more fun if the dynamics is still the same as before the MC dies.

this story’s composition is ok, the MC is just your everyday guy (he’s human, so he has some of his own selfishness and emotion)

This is for readers who likes reading that have no boundaries/red flags/problematic psyche :)

Also, for readers who doesn’t like to think about morality much and just read for fun.

*fiction is different from reality kids always remember
