the story has it's problems but this is probably my favorite villainess novel ever. i found the end (+ the POV side stories) extremely cathartic. no one ever brings it up but there should be a TW for mentioned SA.

as much as i love the novel i do recommend reading the manga first, not only because it's beautifully drawn, but because of the additional info being sprinkled in throughout the series that supplements the story nicely. still ongoing but worth the wait IMO. <<less

this novel has wonderful world building and a strong cast of characters but the "antagonists" felt lackluster. i don't mind it TOO terribly though since the mystery was the driving force of the story for me. i have my gripes but i definitely recommend this if you like interesting spins on classic fairy tales, mystery and angst. standard stuff for the genre but an enjoyable read regardless!! if you like stories about beautiful women trying to mend their reputations with the ~*drama*~ that comes with knowing their role is to eventually step down and leave the man they love (who...gasp...! loves them too!) then i think you'll like this one a lot.

Louis should have gotten 500 more chapters dedicated to him, which is my only real complaint. <<less

i find reviews mixed on this one but i'm in the "i think this is really really good" camp. i like the premise and love stories where the odds are stacked against the FL who is seemingly fighting fate. edith is constantly being put down by the world, but she handles it with the patience of a saint. don't get confused though, she's no doormat and will absolutely bite back, which is why i find her so endearing!!... more>>

people hate the ML but i think his actions are pretty justified in the beginning and later on i adore how devoted he is to his wife. they have such great chemistry it kind of set a new standard for me LOL i love couples who are flirty but also bicker!! flirty bickering!! ugh!! <<less

the story isn't perfect as there are quite a few plot holes and loose threads that never quite get addressed, but i think if you enjoy shoujo manga or just want a story about a fl that borders on mary sue (but i mean that with all the love in my heart) and the weirdos that love her, i think this is a solid read. <<less

it has an interesting writing style with the story following 6/7 different characters who's POVs shift with each chapter. all the characters are tied together by their involvement with a woman named Lorona, who is killed in a carriage accident the same night her engagement gets (very publicly) annulled. some are happy she's dead, others are sad, all end up realizing how much of an impact she had in their lives.

if you like tales of revenge and want something short and sweet with some fun twists and turns, i def rec this one. <<less

i really liked the relationship between the fl and ml, who's love felt very organic despite the circumstances, but i found the novel overall to be very...wordy? i could totally just be s*upid though. the gem stuff was interesting, but i found my eyes getting crossed whenever the business aspects of the novel would get described at length. i think i would've liked it much more if it were even more character focused since the characters were my favorite part.

despite the rushed(at least that's what it felt like to me) ending, i think that it's a solid read regardless! especially if you like stories about a woman reinventing herself for revenge. <<less

i like that both ml and fl are schemers, but i like it even more that their level of scheme-ry is on a similar level which is refreshing. it adds even more to their bickering which was hilarious. they've quickly become one of my favorite couples.

i DO think the ending felt a bit rushed, and would've loved at least 5 or more chapters for an epilogue, it's still a very good novel and definitely worth the read. <<less

i really really REALLY like the fl, she's very cunning, but its the kind of cunning that feels authentic. she uses some aspects of the novel but a lot of her achievements are won through her own capabilities and business prowess. she's stubborn, competitive, and has snuck her way into my top 10 fav fls for sure.

i also like the ml despite his deception. i actually think more mls should have one meeting with the fl at the very beginning and immediately come home and plan to marry them. but thats just me. honestly, what will make or break this story is how the author handles the reveal/reaction to his big secret.

the translation ends on a severe cliffhanger since the raws are unavailable but i would say give this one a try if you like fun fls, suffering mls, no angst and business explanations that won't make you want to fall asleep. <<less

now you might be asking yourself "if she's a doll how does their relationship work? that's weird. you're weird" and i'm inclined to agree with you normally but it...it just works? i guess? ***spoiler alert for those hung up on that: fl can sort of..astral project herself? her soul? outside the doll. she has the same appearance as the doll but is obviously a grown woman. they don't actually explicitly say that outside of a line thats very 'blink and you'll miss it' but you have the crouton_net guarantee that's not as dubious as you might think. there's actually a whole new level of romanticism that comes from it honestly. how can you hold the... more>> woman you love when your hands will just phase through her? ughhh...the drama of it all.

both the relationship between the ml and fl is VERY sweet, it's so refreshing to see a novel couple who are completely and utterly smitten with each other from the get-go. there's no misunderstandings, no tropes like the fl running away for 50 chapters or ml being borderline abusive, etc. etc. just two people who are hopelessly devoted to making each other happy.

overall this was a pleasant read and i'd recommend it if you're in the mood to read a strange romance between two likeable leads and how much they grow to love each other. <<less
