ok, y’all listen... do you ever just get into the mood to read a typical everyone-loves-the-mc-even-when-he-does-the-bare-minimum novel... no? well, this. this was the novel i read when i got into that mood, and it was surprising entertaining, at least for me. it’s dear to me in the sense that if i ever get into the mood to read a light harem turned 1v1 again, this will be the novel i turn to.... more>>

the mc is the typical blinding star who can cook and dance and mediate and prob has other things up his sleeves. he’s got the looks, the personality, and the charm of a harem protagonist. likable, but not really memorable. what i really really really liked in this novel are the 3 main mls (the argument can be made for more but there are primarily 3). at first, i thought i knew for sure who the ml was, but as the text went on, i honestly could see the mc with anyone of them. each are respectful towards the mc and court him in their own special way. i have an ultimate bias but they all kinda took turns tbh. this novel was one where i’d be okay, ecstatic even, with a harem ending. in fact, even though i was happy that my otp sailed, my heart broke for the other 2 whose love was not reciprocated. 

(if you have the time, you should read what the readers on jjwxc wrote in the reviews, especially about the mls... even through mtl, reading them made me cry for the mls more. :’0)

as of 5/4/22, the translations (more like poor edits)...leave much to be desired. sometimes, it’s only a little better than mtl. other times, mtl will be more understandable. if this novel had a good translation, i think more people would be able to enjoy it. nevertheless, beggars can’t be choosers. if you can stand mtl, the edits will be bearable.   <<less

the gong will probably decide how the story goes for you. if you dislike the typical extremely possessive and obsessive gong who’s also homophobic (there is a reason for this, though i feel like the author should've went more in depth into that), have questionable morals, and incredibly, and i mean INCREDIBLY, dense, this will not be the story for you. i am a basic ho, so i very much enjoyed his overbearing love (in fiction. only fiction.). that being said, maybe because i’ve read way worse, but i don’t think he’s that bad? he treats mc like his faith; if he can, he will give everything to mc. i feel like if mc asks for his heart, he will dig it out himself and hand it over on a silver platter. kudos to mc for guiding and reassuring him when he noticed ml’s obsessiveness. they are adorable together. 

highly enjoyed reading this novel. chrysanthemum garden recently picked it up, so there will be better translations!  <<less

solid rebirth-revenge novel. touch-starved and manipulative mc X gentle and mature ml. the ml is so good and respectful and responsible that it made me start rooting for him despite the circumstances. he provides the warmth and security that mc desperately craves.

translation on webnovel is basically mtl then edited with chatgpt or something. would recommend just reading the raws through mtl since it made more sense.
