Give this a chance, even tho the beginning might seem like any other rebirth novel u won't prolly regret it.

just like the review above, this novel is about imperfect characters and not your usual cold ml+air head fl. It's already established that the male lead it's a control freak. The relationship isn't healthy whatsoever but you've got to understand that this novel isn't romanticizing this at all. Personally I like how realistic the characters are. yes it's frustrating but not because the characters are dumb or boring but it's because of how even after I finish reading this my heart still feels heavy and hurt.

I like that the children in this novel act their age. Usually in other childcare novels *ahem*, the son is the genius, acts like a mini-adult and always try to get his parents together.

It's well written and great job to the translator.

If I had to say one thing I didn't like, my heart hurts too much; I feel bad for everyone. It can be a happily ever after or a cycle of torture depending on how you interpret it.

I know not everyone can find happiness, but you don't know how much it pains me to see huai Jin like this.

And I really like the fact that in the extra you can see how much parent's relationship with each other can affect their children. Eventho little zhao doesn't fully understand the details he's still subconsciously affected by it and it influenced how he views love and marriage.

The plot and characterization of MC and ML is interesting. I like how ML behaviour of possessiveness is not being romanticed by author. At the later part the author also explain the reason od MC behaviour of cheating with other man and although many reader think that MC obedient behaviour in the end seems to sudden but I think it got to do with ML remember their past life memory and gradually ML not forced MC to loved him and their cooperation being a dutiful husband and wife for life.

I like itt. The story is different form any other transmigration story that I read. At first I don't expected anything but then it completely change my mind. I like the plot twist about the fate. I like that until the last, the FL don't change her feeling. It bittersweet ending. And I really like the story about the poor little princess and how ML done with it.

I liked and disliked the FL relation with the ML. They were very cute together but I kept remembering how the FL doesnt actually love the ML. Though thats understandable considering the curse and all from her previous life cuz the ML killed her to get the throne. The ML also gave me mixed feelings. I liked him, felt bad for him, hated him, and thought he was creepy. I liked how when the FL died he held on to her corpse which showed that even in death he didn't wanna be apart from her but that was also creepy. You don't usually hold on to a corpse like a kid holding a toy, and refuse to bury it.... The relationship between the two was very unique. It was love-hate but not love-hate. The FL didn't love the ML towards the end but she felt it took too much effort to hate him either. It felt like she just didn't care. She knew she couldn't run away from him so she just dealed with it and found happiness in her kids while indulging in the MLS love/care. But their were moments I felt that they were totally in love.

I rarely write a review, because I read too many novels to bother, however this one is truly a hidden gem. The story is EXTREMLY bittersweet. The ML is not at all likable. I love some good yandere, don't misunderstand, but he's just too much. The relationship between leads is the most heartbreaking thing in the novel.

FL doesn't love him even at the end, just learns to live with him for the sake of their children and he remains unchangable in his sickly desire to possess her.

It shows how different lifetimes overlap and revenge may not always be worth the price. I highly recommend it if you look for something short, well written and don't mind a not so sweet and happy ending with fantasy elements.

First, the translator did a really great job. I think I’ll follow all their projects because the frequency to quality ratio was so good.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novel. The angst was really really satisfying and at a few points I had to put my phone down because I was actually crying.

The author made some choices which were risky/unique and I think could be part of why this novel has mixed ratings. The final act of the story wasn’t as good as the middle in my opinion, but I am... more>> glad I read the whole thing. <<less

I just finished reading one of the most beautiful and emotional novel on novelupdate. As someone who has no skill in writing reviews, I just want to say that this is an experience and a journey that I'm so grateful to have. Read this book and surely you will feel the same too.

I fell in love with this novel from the very first chapter. I like the fact that FL is not this "perfect" girl who transmigrates and knows everything. I also like the fact that the drama revolves around them and there are no horrible villains.

Anyways, if you're looking for a novel that will make you feel excited and cry (it's tragedy after all) then give it a shot! I also have to say that the translation is really well done and that the chapters are loooong (what's better than reading a novel with long chapters?).

Decent novel.... enough to keep you entertained if you like drama. Definitely not a romance at this point, and the ML has reached certain levels of obsession/crazy but it walks a fine line so it doesn't seem too sick. I can see this leading more to a love story as it goes on, just not at this point yet.

I really like this novel, it's amazing! I love slowburn romance and this one has intense moments between our couple and heartwarming moments between the child and mother

I liked the novel and the past lives made me cry a lot (would usually give stories a 5 if they can invoke some type of emotion out of me) but, I just couldn't accept that ending... it's technically a HE but it wasn't for me. It didn't give me any closure since only one of them was truly in love with the other.

I get why some people don't like this one but for me, it's a gem!

This is kind of novel where I have to recheck its genre when I reach a certain point. I was fooled by the first half. I thought it was just another transmigrating into a book novel.

The story is interesting and different from other historical novels i've read. A toxic relationship with a good writing is my cup of tea. And the twist! I love the twist! The romance between FL and ML is complicated, so if... more>> you are looking for a healthy relationship, this is definitely not for you.

The FL’s relationship with her son is too cute I’m crying from all their cuteness! The ML is a pretty rare one too since usually most MLs get jealous of their own children when they take away the FL’s attention. However, the ML here actually liked that the FL showed a lot of love to their child. The ML is basically obsessed with the FL and I love the raw emotions he has towards our FL. I have mixed feelings about the ending since it’s not like the usual ending... more>> but it was a HE nevertheless so I’m not complaining. <<less

... more>> It is a yandere story and my experience reading this novel is as a thriller. I was holding my breath, scared to death, hoping the FL could survive this incredibly toxic, unhealthy, manipulative, and abusive relationship.

Of course, she still ended up with him. I just don't see that as a happy ending.

The FL was simply dealt a bad hand. She couldn't escape a faith she herself never chose. Someone else always decided for her, either the ML, the monk, or her parents. In an era where women don't really have a way to live and rely on their partner or family, the FL was only trying to live the best she could. I don't blame her for being too scared of ML to do anything out of boundaries.

The "romantic scenes" between the ML and FL were never consensual (except the very first time she drugged him to find an escape route for herself). He's always rough and she's always left black and blue. And the other members of the family had the audacity to tell the FL to satisfy him and got upset when she didn't want to talk to ML.

Someone said it best, all the guys the FL was involved with were actually really gentle, loving, and loyal to her. While the only people she hated, i.e. The ML and his family, are basically psychopaths. In all honesty, even when she was acting horrible, the FL was just a product of the destiny she was given. No one gives her a chance to decide what she wants, she was tied to the ML against her will. I hope that after all the lives she had to spend with him, she'd be free and fall in love with someone who cherishes and respects her.

I do think the ML kinda gets his retribution in a way. Despite successfully tying the FL down, he could never receive her love, only indifference. Her heart would move for other men but never him. And because she's indifferent to him, she's not aware when she might hurt his feelings.

Translation: 3/5

The translation is very readable. There are quite a lot of grammar mistakes, especially the pronouns which are really confusing sometimes. I also have a feeling that the translator is not very knowledgeable when it comes to ancient China, so the text becomes awkward at times. But overall, it was a breezy read.

The worst part I had gone through while reading this story is actually the comment section on the blog. It's pretty disgusting how those readers blamed FL for all the mistreatment she received and felt the overbearing actions of the ML are "hot" or "pampering." Yeah, he's nice to her but he's holding her family above her head and sexually-abuses her all the time. How appreciative can you really be towards the person who held you captive?

As I said, this is not a romantic love story. It's a thriller about how a woman tried to make the best out of the situation she ended up in. It's a survival story. <<less

I didn't like how evil ML was turning out in the main story but after reading the extras, I then knew that he has always loved and had been very possessive of FL.

2nd time reading and I still shed some tears. Re-rated this as well as I found it more entertaining this time.

This is definitely not for the light-hearted.

So far there is no regrets for reading it, this quite interesting minus nice. This story were too twisted, and probably dedicated to those with twisted soul.

There some plot twist that a little bit unexpected but still doesn't go overboard. Only that the way the main character were to monotone was my biggest set down. I understand as there is a reason behind it, but it's still not very appealing to have the main story teller don't have many big waves to wipes the story.

No comment for the ML, both... more>> that prince and PM, they are twisted af, just by reading it make me feel suffocated to the max. <<less

If this is also your kinda guilty pleasure then pls enjoy this.

In fact, I would recommend most of the novels from this author if you like this kinda plotlines.

The first & most important thing to say is, the tragedy tag is there FOR A GODDAMN REASON. A true sob story (◠‿◠) I picked this story to read about people being miserable & in pain & I was not disappointed (^.^)

Honestly I don't like fl. I mean like yes she tried her hardest to run away & break free... & Nothing. She couldn't beat the ml. however she's too dumb, and pitiful ig. I enjoy seeing pitiful things being tortured & become more miserable as time goes... more>> by

TBH I have no respect for ml. The dude is too possessive & obsessed :) f*cked up jerk =) but I came here for yandere ML & I got one.

he literally chained her at some point in the story. Tho I can understand him. Like he killed his beloved in his first life & at some point he couldn't even treasure her mementos because they all burned away AND he stopped dreaming about her too. I only can imagine how desperately he tried to cling to their memories together & hold them close to his chest. No wonder he became a little possessive lol

But well his actions are still unprovable. Girl go back to the modern time & sue that jerk
