Transmigrating Into The Heartthrob’s Cannon Fodder Childhood Friend

The protagonist shou, Xie Sui, was a proud son of heaven. He had an illustrious family background, was cold and removed from desire, and attracted many (psychopathic) admirers. From the gentle senior to the paranoid president, to the haughty and proud arch-enemy, these big guys were all top leaders of their respective fields, yet they were all crazy about him.

After pushing him down a series of mentally and physically abusive paths, the three of them decided to join hands to destroy the Xie Family, imprison Xie Sui, crush his pride, and turn him into a pet that could only rely on them.

While the crowd of readers howled “Wuwuwu the feels~”.

Song Yu was already so angry he was going crazy. Not wanting to read any more of this eye-searingly bad novel, he cursed, “Idiots.” and hurried offline.

As a result, when he woke up, he’d transmigrated.

He’d transmigrated to become the Third Young Master of the Song Family in the novel, who had only been briefly mentioned in passing, would die of a terminal illness, and was Xie Sui’s childhood friend.

Song Yu was terribly upset. At the same time, he’d already come to a decision in his heart––those three idiots, had better not think about wanting to get close to his little childhood friend!

Xie Sui was born cold-hearted. In two lifetimes, he’d never tasted the sweetness of love, nor had he ever experienced the feeling of being protected.

After destroying three big families and personally killing his enemies, he was reborn back to when he was 15 years old. He had to hide the violence and coldness in his heart and pretend to be the youth with a gentle and clean appearance that he’d been in the past.

Everything was the same as before, except that the little childhood friend who was nothing but a vague memory in his previous life was exceptionally different this time.

Like the spring breeze that thawed the frozen soil, someone reached into the abyss and grabbed his blood-stained hand.

Song Yu tore apart a love confession letter like he was venting and fumed, “Don’t pay attention to those people, don’t believe in their sweet words. They’re all scum, and their love is worthless. Don’t like them, okay?”

Xie Sui gazed at him for a long time, then laughed, “Alright, I don’t like them.”

I only like you.

This story seemed interesting at first but it became boring after first few chapters.

Some events which should have been finished by just half of chapter are dragged up to two or three chapters.

I was at c31 when I decided to drop this one and the story so far is only about daily life of highschool student.

MC is really likeable and works well with the ML. ML's original life is so sad you can't help but feel pity for him. Writing is really funny, mostly MC faceslapping and 'protecting' ML.

I really like this story. I like how there were not any long drawn out situations and also it did not take long for the MC to realize his feelings for the ML. This was a really nice short read. I wish there were a little more chapters about their college and adult life tho.

9/10 would definitely recommend.

Soooo super cute, love it. One of the few web novels I am actively watching to see when it updates. I love the MC so much, and the ML is also really good. Although the ML seems like the slightly overbearing type, he also seems like the type to really respect the MC and take things slowly. Yes, this is 100% a slow-burn, but that is one of the things that makes it so good.

Reading stories about badasses is the most exhilarating thing ever. MC is just so wicked, wild, arrogant, hilarious and so adorable that you just end up smiling through every chapter you read. Seriously, give this novel a try and don't miss out on it.

Well what do you know, I am in love with this novel through and through

It's not overly fluffy that the reader would have to eat dog food every second, it's not overly angsty that you would cry like the world is ending

This novel is lovely

... more>> Just like how the MC and the ML are

If I have to say, the MC is one of the best MC I have seen from other novels. He is fun, cheery, confident, and bold. His personality leave no place for s*upid misunderstanding and miscommunication between him and the ML, which I really like. The ML too is one of the best ML I've seen. He's not overly demanding and possessive that makes the whole relationship toxic (as other chinese novels have portrayed). He is sweet, loyal, and very trusting of the MC.

The story is dear to me and would forever have a special place in my heart

I was very interested in this premise from the moment I read the summary so I decided to give this a go even though not many translated chapters were out yet, and boy, once I caught up I couldn't wait anymore so I MTL'ed the rest and I gotta say, not even the butchered, barely decipherable MTL managed to dwindle the entirety of this novel's beauty, although I will definetly continue reading the proper translation because Xiin is doing a wonderful job.
I have read many transmigration novels with similar plots, but this one managed to subvert most of my expectations so far, the plot twist near the end really got me.

when Xie Sui thought 'how could I miss a star like this in my past life', he didn't, omg I'm crying😭

. This story managed to tickle all my sweet spots, it's a good balance between wholesome, dark, hilarious, and feely; it squeezed a good deal of tears as well as genuine laughter from me while reading, and although I would have loved to read more, the ending was very satisfying, although a tad bit rushed imho.

Lastly, I want to commend the cast, not only the main characters, but the supporting ones too, other than the villains whom I found a bit flat and underdeveloped, the rest of them all made for wonderful additions to the story and setting, everything really gave a feel of 'youthful school life', drawing vivid imagery in my mind such as the smell of mint, osmanthus flowers and summer heat, making me feel like I was truly living it, and I say this as a person who doesn't usually enjoy high school romance stories as much. As for the MC, Song Yu in particular has climbed his way to the top among my favorite characters in danmei, he's so damn cool and funny, rightfully deserving of the nickname "Yu Ge", no wonder Xie Sui would fall so hard for him

First of all, I would have given this novel a 5* if not for the convoluted mess that was the last arc. I really enjoyed the coldness of the ML and absurdity of the MC. The personality for the MC is unexpected for a sickly and fragile person ... more>>

and the MC was very cool too. I think I really enjoyed the main CP's relationship in novel and some of the friendlier side characters were also very enjoyable to see a come back for. I mtled this novel, it was quite different to read (I used mtl sites since I couldn't find the rawr sadly), but yeah. It was really fun to read, a lot of fighting, a lot of comedy, just kinda confusing to understand around the last part, which felt like it happened both too quickly and too slowly. <<less

I read the whole novel in MTL. I usually don't have any patience with MTL, but I just couldn't stop myself with this one. This is a good novel. It has lots of fluff, LOTS of dogblood drama and likeable characters. However, despite enjoying this, I felt that the characters had changed quite a lot from the beginning, especially our MC. It could be a false impression due to the MTL, so take my words with a pinch of salt. I will definitely come back to this one after the... more>> translation is complete. There are so many cute and fluffy scenes that I want to read! :3 There aren't any explicit scenes but the scenes are cute. The translation quality is good. So, I hope they continue. I would recommend this to anybody who likes fluff and slow romance.

. So, you'll have to endure a lot. But I personally liked the pace since nothing was forced on anyone. The ML can be a tad bit boring since he remains the same throughout the novel, bit I like his character.

Tl;dr: This is a cute novel. Definitely RECOMMENDED! 😙😘 <<less

Just from reading the summary I'm already hooked. After reading up to the current translation, I can't wait for more. This is my type of novels, I just love it so much when MC feels like a genuine person you could relate to. I'm already in love with his personality.

ML being reborn and having changed due to his past life tragedies made me read this. I've just actually happened to be re-reading 'Protagonist Definitely Have to Be in True Love' and I got the same vibe with their MLs. If... more>> you love that story, maybe you'll like this too like me. What is it with me liking MLs suffering, gosh.

Anyways, the translation quality is very good, I really wanted to keep reading more. This is really a fun and easy read unlike others where I'd be confused. There are parts I've laughed already, and I'm really invested in the story now. Thank you to the translator, they're doing a very good job. <<less

Yes, once again I jumped readily to another mtl-spree.

The story, at first, is just your average transmigrating troops. At least that's what I thought. Yet, as the story progressed, I got caught up in the mystery between our MC and ML, and their 'truth'.

For me, it was an interesting read. Fluffy, cute with enough face-slapping and not much intrigue. The only thing I was not satisfied is:

I liked it; before confirming their relationship, MC and ML were honest with each other about their circumstances (rebirth vs system). I don't think I've read one where they confessed the truth before marriage and an Mpreg.

Certainly one of the more enganging novels I've read!

The setting is fairly straighforward and exactly what it says on the tin, nothing super special at first glance but it's really in the details that the fun of this story gets to shine.

The characters are very fun with the MC being enjoyably audacious and the ML being more calculating and calm. The side characters are just as fun when they get a chance to appear more often, but they do lean more on the flat side overall. The plot if pretty... more>> interesting, especially with the way it slowly builds up over the course of the story with a few hints being dropped in the early quirky slice of life chapters until finally coming together towards the end in a pretty satisfying way.

I do have to say though, the overall pace of events just happening in the story is a bit ridiculous. The ML falling in love almost immediately after meeting the MC is fairly normal for the genre, but things just keep happening, one more dramatic over the other over the few months the story takes place in. There is basically no time to breath before another insane villain kicks down the MC's door causing trouble and it can be pretty exhausting reading it all.

There are plot reasons as to why everything happens so fast but that doesn't make it feel much better, so if you can't suspend your disbelief that these 15 year olds keep running into trouble every day, you might have a bad time. If you do though you're in for a fun rollercoaster of insanity that will leave you comfortably satisfied by the end. <<less

Firstly: xiin's translations are very good! Not just in the plain translations but also in capturing the inside jokes in a way that's accessible to English readers. Unfortunately, it gets taken over in the 80s by someone else and then the translations become 'all right', just your regular level of edited MTL.

Storywise, I enjoyed Song Yu's character and the way he runs his mouth. There was a part in the middle where it really dipped into fanfic territory (the extended game in KTV) and I lost interest for a while,... more>> but it picked up again when the rest of the scum gongs started to make their appearance. I am somewhat satisfied the way it wrapped itself up. It's primarily a school setting slice-of-life, but Song Yu's cold yet mouthy character and his dynamics with the on-the-surface-needing-to-be-saved Xie Sui made it a unique read.

I would probably rate it a 3.5, but rounded it up to 4 for the translations. <<less

A very nice story. The school interactions are hilarious, especially the student side characters. The relationship develops gradualy and softly, without any pointless misunderstandings. The transmigration-reincarnation routine is also handled well; I especially liked the slow uncovering of the actual relationship between the MC and ML in the past.

It was a light and refreshing read. The story itself had a nice concept and the plot twist was a nice addition.

Although the ending and the revealing of the plot at the end were a bit messy and rushed; I greatly think some parts still need explanation (in other words, plot holes). There was so much potential in the plot that went to waste and wasn't explained better, there were also some parts that were dragged out unnecessarily.

Spoiler

Personally speaking, it was a shame that zzy's potential of being a great love rival and great supporting character went to waste, alas he had become a rather forgettable fodder character that was thrown away at the end of the story. If the author decided to make him keep his past-life consciousness, it would be a great addition to the story.

[collapse]

However the chemistry of the MC and the ML made up for it, and I adored their interaction. The other characters' interaction also felt alive and I liked the forum part of the story; it was my type of humor (being chronically online).

Spoiler

One thing that bugged me was the ending of the extra chapter, it felt too abrupt and should've been dragged out more so we could read further about the CP's college life; in other words, I just wanted more sweet moments of the cp in college (lol). Plus, I hope the English publication will fix the description of sy's brown-to-black-to-brown-again hair because I was also bugged by that.

I've been waiting for this for a long time and I've reread it several times too while waiting out of sheer excitement for the ending.

So now, I'm actually just disappointed at that conflict resolution and ending. There have been hints that something was messing with their memories, but that resolution towards the end was executed so poorly that it only brought down the quality of the story rather than elevating it and providing the closure it deserved.

Despite that, the buildup was good and entertaining. This would've been a toptier school... more>> life danmei if it weren't for all that system stuff. <<less

I have been waiting for the translation of this novel for a long time. Thank you, everyone, for translating it. I read the synopsis and became interested in it. It sounded so intriguing that I thought that this story would definitely be good, and I was right. It was worth waiting for.

The synopsis gives us a general idea of what we should expect from this novel, but it was much more fascinating than I expected. There were some plot twists that I didn't see coming. At some point, the story... more>> takes an unforeseen turn. There were some signs, but the ending was still surprising. I expected that it would be a simple story about transmigration. But I was wrong; the story was complicated but enjoyable to read. For curious people, I will go into more details.
Spoiler

At first, the story developed exactly as it was described; MC transmigrated into the book and met the system, which told him that he would play a minor role in this world. In 5 years, he would meet MC and help him forget past grievances. During these five years, he would be free and could act as he wished. There was only one rule: He shouldn't change the plot. MC, because he hadn't anything to do, decided, out of kindness, to help ML, who was having a hard time at this point. It doesn't count as not changing the plot, but because the system was absent, he just acted according to his will. But after he met ML, he slowly began to doubt everything the system told him. He had strange dreams and adapted too well to this new world; he also felt wonderful despite being ill, as the system claimed. So he became suspicious. From this point on, the story became more gripping. (And everything ended with a big plot twist.

[collapse]
I loved that the author paid attention to details and explained everything I was curious about, for example, why did MC transmigrate or why was ML life so pitiful? Everything was logical, and every detail connected with each other very well.

Even without a complicated plot and a surprising ending, the story would still be great. Even if the story had been about campus love, I would be fascinated because the author is talented and the novel is very well written. The atmosphere of the school is well set. The youthful spirit of the youngster was well described. Both MC and ML are so cute and lovable. MC has a sharp tongue and loves bickering. Most of the time, no one is his match, except for ML. So his interactions with his classmates and family members are hilarious. I guess this is one of the reasons why he accidentally became a school bully. Truth be told, I have a feeling that he just wanted to be salted fish but accidentally got involved in the story. ML is calculating, cold, and clever; he isn't interested in anyone; he just doesn't care, but MC became an exception because he is frank, kind, and a bit naive. He was so patient with him.
Spoiler

It was a bit funny that ML knew about MC's feelings even before he himself realised what he felt. He was just waiting for MC to figure it out himself.

[collapse]

There were a lot of villains—bad teachers, love reveals, and classmates—who in the past tortured ML and caused a lot of pain and problems, but in this timeline they can't cause any trouble. I wasn't worried for ML because I knew that the plot had already changed. What happened to him in the past was disgusting; we only get glimpses, but it was enough to hate villains. But now that everything changed, I could enjoy reading it because I knew that nothing bad would happen, and I was a bit excited because the way of dealing with villains was entertaining. I couldn't wait to find out how they would be sorted.

What I loved most of all was the relationship between MC and ML. It was so good. This is one of those cases when you can see and feel how characters fell in love and don't doubt their feelings. With only a few sentences, the author sets a wonderful atmosphere that makes your heart beat faster. I loved it. There were so many good details, but I am afraid that I will spoil this beautiful story.

The story was sometimes sad, but most of the time, because of ML, it was hilarious. I enjoyed reading it and hope that other readers will give it a chance. It is a warm, funny, romantic, sometimes a bit sad, but very well written novel with good flow and charismatic characters.

P.S. I really hope people will read this wonderful novel from start to end. I saw a few low ratings and reviews; most of them were given without finishing the reading. I can acknowledge their concerns because I was worried for the same reasons, but I want to remind everyone that this novel has a happy ending, it isn't too angsty, and the author gave us a reasonable explanation. Nothing bad will happen to MC or ML, so you can read with peace of mind. <<less
