To be honest, the overall quality is barely satisfactory but it is still passable. Before anything else can I just say something about CN novel's synopsis??? ISTG every CN novel's synopsis always always mislead me. It gives off either a weird first impression or an unappealing one. Like this one. This is also one of the reasons why I have to read reviews just to have few glimpses of what to expect. I really hope someone leaves off a decent fan written synopsis out there so we can have a... more>> better impression of CN novels.

Here's my unsolicited version of a sneak peak/synopsis: (my overall feelings about the novel may or may not have affected how I wrote this but here you go)

Spoiler

[The term 'ricepot' mainly focuses on the fact that Lan Shan have a big appetite and likes the rice in Qiao Feng's house. Literally. It is also related to how she more or less freeloads on him (he doesn't mind and does it voluntarily feeling satisfaction every time).]

Lan Shan is a salesperson working under car dealership. Meanwhile, Qiao Feng is a high IQ but low EQ person working as a professor in a university. This two person met by chance and due to a misunderstanding on Lan Shang's side Qiao Feng had a bad impression on her that led to series of misfortune (just a bit).

As if that is not enough, Lan Shang once again had another misunderstanding about Qiao Feng that led her to act freely (without being on guard) with him. Because of her actions, Qiao Feng also had a misunderstanding on her. These misunderstandings, however, made them closer and build a deeper foundation in their relationship.

Find out how they resolve these misunderstandings and how they deal with their surging emotions towards each other. Lol.

Back to my review, if I were to be blunt, the start didn't really entice me but the ratings kind of kept me curious so I decided to stay. It was boring for the first part but I guess around chapter 20-30 I saw its charm for being simple. I rarely read slice of life novels bec I tend to be picky about it but this one is simple and light just enough to keep me going. It does have an inferior sense of drama but I like the main couple's chemistry, banters, and the development of their relationship.

My thoughts about the main couple:

Lan Shan is a blunt person. Professional in terms of work. Likable as a character. I like her principles in terms of work. She's also confident in her looks and is aware of how it affects the people around her but also knows not to abuse it. I find her personality a comfortable match with Qiao Feng.

Qiao Feng on the other hand is overly blunt. More like straightforward to a fault. He's not really cold, in fact he's almost a pushover in my eyes but I guess because of his logical perception about everything he tends to see and take things on face value and responds to it accordingly. That made people view him as insensitive. I actually am quite fond of him and find him cute. <<less

Giving it a score of 4 simple because I got a little annoyed with the story's many misunderstandings. The MC and ML seem like no nonsense type of people but their misunderstandings with each other grew quite overboard. The same thing with what happened to ML's brother and MC's best friend. I know the author made use of the misunderstandings to build up the story but it was frustrating at most instead of being funny.

This novel is really entertaining. Basically all the unrealistic characters there can be in a romantic story is written here. Perfect reading when all hopes are lost in the real world. It's a nice fluffy story. Very funny characters.

A surprisingly good and entertaining story! I recommend it because it has very good elements. The translation needed some editing but overall really pleased with the hard work the translator placed in this--she/he is not a full-time translator anyway so I won't demand for perfection every time.

I agree with several reviewers that the description here was several lacking. There is more to the story than your usual plot. The male and female lead were set to fall in love--just look at how they charmed each other. There is no forceful... more>> feeling, everything went quite naturally and I enjoyed laughing at so many laughable and embarrassing scenes. The scheming lady was well-portrayed without going over the top. The love rival is exactly how I pictured a love rival, the dumb best friend is also the same. The male lead's support group, top notch without going too over.

Spoiler

The subtle lesson was also written well--the huge misunderstanding. Sorry to some but I am someone who doesn't like BL; most of tall women/girls who fantasize about it. I find women who does this belittle men when they label them this way and could really harm any future relationships. The lesson was well-imparted here (even in a laughable way) without pushing it in your face. The author's subliminal writing is quite good.

The best part for me might have been when the love rival dug her grave. Although, the ending of that short arc turned bland... it was enough to satisfy me and it showcased how much our female lead was truly loved and cherished not just by the male lead but also the supporters.

Overall I quite enjoyed this read. At first it was a bit hard to get into because of how idiotic the FL was and how she just straights up barges into ML's home. After a while her personality grows on you and I guess that there are moments supposed to be taken as a joke and not analyzed too deeply. ML at first was very aloof, but becomes incredibly endearing. I recommend this read.

I'm usually a silent reader but this novel inspired me to write a review about it You will love this, the ML is such a cutie, and seems like the perfect house husband. The humor and comedy is also perfect and not too over the top. I can imagine this novel as a drama because of how good it was translated and described.
