This novel is about low ranking staff Shan Shan being oppressed by the Big Boss. She keeps fighting but keeps losing. So she finally stopped struggling and obediently surrendered…

Shan Shan, extremely docile, waited outside the delivery room at the temporary blood bank. At the same time, the big boss sent her away to do a blood test to ensure she was of good health and suitable blood type.

Sure enough, the pregnant woman was in a critical condition. Thus, Shan Shan obediently let 300 cc of her blood being pumped. The condition of the pregnant woman improved. Shan Shan received many thanks, left the hospital and lamented this while looking at the moon:

cute read. but kind of superficial

the male lead falls in love with the female lead for no reason at all. honestly I'm not sure if he liked her in the beginning or it's because she gave his sister blood and he felt obligated, but there was no lead in to why he was so obsessed with her.

no matter how much I love black belly boss style ML.... there is a limit. the reason why BBB trope is so popular is because no matter how scary and cruel the boss ML... more>> may be to everyone else, he still holds a special place for FL in his heart. this BBB is just plain cruel and scary to the FL... he exhorts her, blackmails her, holds her pay over her head so that she is forced to be a maid for him... it's honestly degrading. you know what, maybe she enjoys or doesn't mind picking his vegetables out of his food for him. but you can't argue that she wanted to go with him on the trip, you can't argue that she wanted to pin the flower on her shirt for the maiden prize, you can't argue that she wanted to basically be his s*ave and do whatever he wanted her to do because she was so scared. the only time ML actually showed his affection was when he pressured FL into doing what he wanted or she was so frightened and uncomfortable that it made him laugh. like.... this sounds like an awful man to be around. there was a huge imbalance of power that he held over her head -- like, if you don't obey me you'll be homeless or working at the bottom again. I don't know, it doesn't sound so pure and cute to me. at some point she actually CHEERS because he is away from her and out of the country. ah..

if there was a guy who always forced me to do his chores for him and degraded me while I was at work, pressured me not to be independent and tried to force me to constantly stay by his side for no other reason than to torment me, I would quit or something. <<less

This is a really funny story with an overbearing and smart ML and a little airhead and glutton FL. Their relationship is a lot like pairing a hawk with a naive bunny, lol.

Be warned, there's a lot of misunderstanding and s*upidity on the female lead's part and sometimes the male lead's part, but the author makes it so funny that you don't feel any frustration for the characters. Only the occasional pity will be felt for the ML in dealing with the FL.

I had a hard time finishing this story. At first it was amusing but then every chapter gets repetitive with the heroine misunderstanding the boss. The only thing the heroine cares about is eating. Hard to see how a hot guy like the Boss finding a round rice ball like her attractive at all. She puts no effort into her lookjs, and she's one of the dumbest main characters I've ever read about. Black-bellied/controlling CEO guy x simpleton foodie (?) office worker.

Dynamic is humorous and cute but... not entirely my cup of tea. MC has no sense of self-protection and would probably lose every fight with the ML, which is played up for humor, but reflects reality in a very uncomfortable way.

MC assumes she will lose her job/bonus/etc. if she disagrees with the ML and the ML uses it to threaten her. Even though ML never actually carries through his threats, this sort of office "harrassment" absolutely does exist in real life in... more>> a very UN-humorous and AWFUL way. Thus, it's difficult to put aside the stark reality of power abuse in the workplace to read this lighthearted and not-intended-to-be-taken-seriously-story and pretend everything is all sunshine and rainbows.... <<less

I tried liking this so hard because of the cute interaction between MC and ML, the fact that the author is very popular in China, and because the translation quality is superb, but I just can't bring myself to like it.

Sure, the earlier chapters are cute, but once you got to the 20th or so chapters, you'd find that the characters are actually not very appealing.

MC acts as if she has some mental deficiency, and I'm not even kidding. How could she work in a prestigious company, in finance at... more>> that, with a super low iq? It doesn't matter whether she got in through the backdoor or not. She wouldn't survive a day in a company like that irl.

ML is extremely manipulative. This looks especially bad since he's paired with a very accommodating MC, it's like MC's only following whatever he wants without a mind of her own.

The characters are just too unlikeable and one dimensional that I just couldn't believe how popular the author is. Sure, the writing is great and it's a light read, but the character setting is just too poor it's baffling. <<less

I really wanted to like this but the MC is just tooo stu-- naive for my liking. Its only 40 chapters but its taking me days to finish it. I may just be too old for this genre. It reminds me of those shoujo comedy mangas ive read when I was a teenager.

I felt like she's just coerced into liking him because he liked her first and she felt like she just has no option.

I also don't like FL's passiveness to accept everything from ML, even at the expense of her pride. I have no idea why ML is so obsessed with her either, is it the food?

Or is it the female lead halo?

Shan Shan is a fluffy, light series thats easy on the brain and feels. The story feels like a typical Korean rom-com but it is enjoyable nonetheless. While the story is not as good as "A Slight Smile is Very Alluring" it has its own merits. Shan Shan is an adorable character and I liked the OTP with Feng Teng. However, the love happens very fast and abruptly and it would have been nice to see the romance build up gradually.

I wanted to read it after all the good reviews but when I started reading it I was soooo confused!

Why does he even like her? Like the interactions may be cute but I found it so weird because the author doesn’t seem to mention anything about how he developed his feelings

Is it just me?

I admit that I didn't give this novel much of a chance before writing this review, but my suspension of disbelief was broken in the very first chapter and after the beginning of the second chapter I just couldn't keep going. My intelligence was insulted. Someone with AB- blood (like the person who receives the MC's blood in chapter one and the MC herself) can receive blood from anyone with a negative bloodtype (A-, B-, O-, AB-). They are universal recipients (as long as the blood is RH-negative). If the... more>> woman's husband can't donate blood while the mother is in childbirth even though she has AB- blood type... then there's a much more serious problem. Her husband is obviously RH-positive. When a woman with RH-negative blood type has a child with someone who is RH-positive there is a high chance the baby will be RH-positive. The mother's immune system will reject the baby.

The only time it would ever be an issue for the blood bank to be low on a specific type of blood is if the recipient is O-. While not a particularly rare blood type, people with type O blood (like me, actually) can only receive blood from others who are type O. And if you are O- you can donate blood to anyone in the world, but can only receive O- blood. The whole premise of the novel is thrown off just from the first chapter.

Finally, the beginning of chapter 2 the MC has to stay home to recover from donating blood for a few days? Seriously? I have chronic low blood pressure and even I don't need to stay home to recover for a few days. I might be a little light headed for an hour or two, but that's it. <<less

I didn't really like it enough to recommend it, the first half I think it was good and I liked it but as it went on it got boring leaving aside romance, in the end FL is still dumb and ML too dominant?

PS: the translation was excellent ?

If you want some light reading full of fluff without drama then this is for you. The MC is rather oblivious and our ML is also really sly. Just like a sheep and a wolf lol you'll laugh at the misunderstandings and how dumb the MC acts sometimes. Cute novel. Would recommend.

Extremely lighthearted and very worth a quick read. Shouldn't take more than maybe an hour or two to get past the bulk of the storyline. Definately worth the investment of time to get a few chuckles at the very least.

The romance however is quite abrupt, the general length is very short (arguably for the better though since lengthier novels tend to have very poor ability to expand on the original concept.) and probably more nitpicky things I can think of but....

FL donated her blood for the ML's sister as both the FL and ML's sister blood is a unique type. From there on, their interaction started. From feeding the FL food in order to nourish her and how the ML arrogantly but sweetly involved himself with the FL's life. Just full of fluff! Jeez! I wanted to be Shan-shan! Lol

A typical big bad wolf and small white rabbit story haha. It show how an overbearing CEO captures his small white rabbit, very straightforward without much obstacles such as huge arguments or various third party and so on.

I haven't read the whole epilogue, I don't think I have the patience for it. The translation was decent, though I can't tell if it was the translation or the story itself but sometimes it was like I missed dialogue yet they repeatedly reference it later.

I didn't end up liking the story. I just don't understand how they fell in love with each other. He likes bullying her and she takes it while mainly complaining inside - she occasionally says something but she's quick to back up. But they never... more>> communicate properly, they're both so childish, she's a bit dimwitted - I honestly don't know how she got & keeps her job. It really does feel like she got coerced into liking him since he always used his position over her. <<less

A very light read. No dramas at all. This really falls under fictional romance. Also, it's nice and fluffy. I had a few good laughs while reading this one

A nice read after reading a tragic novel.

Since I enjoyed the other story from the same universe I was a bit skeptic about this one but it lived up to expectations. If I had known what I know now, I would choose to read this first before the other book (A Slight Smile...) so some of the extras from that side would feel more familiar.

Eh, I didn't like it much as A Slight Smile Is Very Charming.

The first 19 or so chapters were more enjoyable, and if the author had left off where she originally intended I probably would have liked the novel a lot more. It would have left me craving more, which, by the end of chapter 41, it did not.

Perhaps the romance pairing here - overbearing male lead with airhead (?) female - is just not one I like? She's called a glutton, but I don't really see it carried through... more>> the series - she never really focuses on food, she seems not to care whether what she is eating is superb quality or rather average... Look at Just Blame Me For Being Blind in the Beginning for an example of a female lead being food-focused.

The male lead wasn't really my cup of tea. He was too overbearing without any redeeming qualities, not even his love for the female lead which seemed like it sprang from no real cause. Their romance was kind of believable, but I didn't really enjoy reading it because of the imbalance in power most of the time.

I have no desire to re-read this at all, which usually marks a novel which for me wasn't that good. <<less
