I will just say it clearly.

Spoiler

MC thinks too much, broods too much, that he will miss opportunities for things he should have taken. Like explaining something to clear misunderstandings to ML and even he should be able to save ML's mother in arc 2.

[collapse]

This story is ridiculous. Maybe if you are someone who likes novels with MC characters who are naive, think a lot, fall in love so easily till it really doesn't make sense, then congrats, you are in the right place.

However, I deeply regret to say that this story is not my cup of tea.

Then, why did I finish this novel?

Spoiler

It's easy, although I don't like MC, I keep reading because of ML. He is very sweet, caring and loves MC so much to the point he was willing to die for his lover. Then our beloved MC destroys everything by making the decision to erase ML's memory and ending up in depression. That's ridiculous. He made the decision himself, he should have been stronger and mentally prepared, but again, he thought too much, cried every day, drank until he's emaciated.

[collapse]

And the ending is really disappointing.

Spoiler

ML has no feelings left for MC because his memory has been erased, but when they meet again, ML, who has the power to hear other peoples minds/hearts, when dealing with the MC, the world around him is calm, then the MC knows it immediately throws himself into ML arms regardless of whether ML already remembers him and loves him again or not.

Then, ML finally remembered their memories through the paint made by MC, and returned to love MC. I feel like I'm being forced to have a happy ending.

[collapse]

So, I think 3 stars is enough for me to appreciate the writer and translator of this novel. That's all. <<less

i came here straight after finishing it with MTL. It was up to my liking, the MC & ML are okay, kinda tropey but the writer managed to make them likable. The ending was quite unsatisfactory and the last arc was rushed. This book has good premise and decent plot, just underdeveloped. There are many things that could be dwelled into further but the author kinda just glossed over it. It left many questions unanswered. I wish the author took time to build the world slowly so it has steadier... more>> foundation.

despite that, I still found myself enjoying this a lot. I gulped down everything in one sitting, I cried a bit but also had a good laugh. I had fun and I think you should give this a chance! <<less

This book is all flowery language and no substance. I'm saying this having read most of the first arc. It's like the author burst out a thesaurus and went "okay, so how many times can I repeat 'beautiful', and get away with it?" when at most, "The palace was resplendent, carved out of jewels and gold. It was nothing like anything in the mortal realm..." would've sufficed. It's like she was trying to make up the word count and just bullshitted the whole thing. It's tiresome to read because you're... more>> just trying to skip pages on pages of description filler.

Also, I don't have a penchant for s*upid MCs. I thought Mary Sue meant a smart, capable MC. Guess it means naive, falls in love at the drop-of-a-hat MC. I really don't recommend this. I don't usually review novels this early, either. Just thought I'd get this out there.

This is one of those tr*shy, read-in-your-free-time but turn off your brain novel. The author says "just ignore the logic holes~" but a good story shouldn't have logic holes in the first place? There's a lot of them. A. Lot.

Seriously though, go read her other novels. This one is just sh*t packaged up into something pretty.

All her other QT novels seem to be along with this sort of trend too. At least Game Loading is somewhat better. <<less

Mary Suey to a T.

A guity guilty pleasure if you like dog blood drama or old style melodrama for a change.

There's twists and turns and misunderstandings, oh and abuse, the MC is abused, we are abused, the ML is somehow abused.

The author said this is not a serious novel!

Beware the question of consent in here is very problematic

Spoiler

, there's situation where the MC doesn't give his consent, but then he thinks it's okay because he is guilty of something, or he is treaded violently but he endures because he feels it's okay because he loves the ML or because is a way to calm down the ML, and the author always smooths things saying that: and then, afterwards, soon he felt pleasure and begged for more and similar things.

[collapse]

Honestly overall I quite liked, I felt second hand embarrassment for various reasons, laughed silly and blushed a lot reading it ahh! <<less

Pretty average QT BL. Nothing really done well imo. I’m surprised Long Qi wrote this, but since it’s from 2015 I can see why the quality isn’t as good. The ML is okay, it kind of feels like all QT MLs have the same personality lol. Handsome, competent (?), and cold, but massively in love with MC at first sight. MC was a bit annoying; I didn’t like the unfaithfulness in the cultivation and omegaverse world. I especially disliked the cultivation world due to the dragged out misunderstandings. Contrary to others, I actually like the MC in this novel. I saw other people saying he was unrealible, s*upid, unprofessional and annoying etc and I was confused because what the heck??

I don't know if people forgot that in his world, that kind of job was unheard of, or that he's an otaku who was just casually answering a questionnaire and that the MC himself have pointed out that he was no genius, but it seems like they did? Or maybe some people are just demanding? I don't know.

RANT COMING--

Trust... more>> me, the MC is not as annoying as other people think. First off, I don't like weak MCs at all, those who are naive and s*upid are not my cup of tea no matter how 'cute' they were. I've only read novels with MCs who are calm and decisive so when I saw other people saying the MC was annoying in this one, I immediately abandoned the thought of reading it. However, my friend recommended it and said that it was actually good and they liked it, so when I was running out of novels to read, I started reading this. And I did not regret it.

Most popular MCs in qt novels are those who are very smart and very cunning, who dont fall in love easily and are very responsible in their work. I love those MCs too. You don't get frustrated because of some misunderstandings because they will almost always figure everything out like some mastermind and that is cool asf. But like sometimes, most of those kind of quick transmigration MCs are the type who never really feel sincere to their mls.. They only take the ML seriously around five arcs later sometimes not even at all (though some mls r just a**holes who don't know consent) so encountering an MC like xiao he was a kind of a breather. Like there's a lot of misunderstandings in the novel which is pretty annoying but you can't hate it because theyre all very reasonable like???

xiao he likes fan shen a lot and it shows. When it comes to the ML he is a dumbass first grader who seemed to be in a daze all day long but when in actuality, he is very sober and see things very reasonably. He is emotionally weak but most of the time it doesn't show? His personality was also very realistic, my god, the MC writes and draws all day in his apartment, have a happy family and a lot friends, he was so ordinary where da fuxk do you think would a superb ability make sense?

I also like the ML but hes not really anything special. Hes those typical MLS in most danmei novels, don't know consent at all (sometimes) but is still very infatuated and sweet to the MC. Typical.

Anyways, im just ranting and maybe the MC particularly just suits my bad taste idk. Please do try and read tho and then decide if the novel is really worth reading because for me, it is. <<less

I can't- I really can't being myself to read this damn novel, MC is too annoying and creates lot's of misunderstandings.

The first arc was enough to anger me, I almost dropped the firsr arc but than continued reading in hopes that it may improve, unfortunately I was disappointed again and again.

If you can handle over dramatic, foolish, s*upid and dumb MC than you're welcome to read this.

I was thoroughly disappointed with this novel, I had high expectations when I read the reviews and saw the ratings but I really couldn't... more>> tolerate the lack of communication between MC and ML, many unnecessary drama would have been avoided if only this MC knows how to f*cking communicate and not make decisions on behalf of someone. <<less

This story has it's own unique background which I find kinda rare and it's only under 100 chapters which is a quick read. Very easy to MTL too!

but to me, it's not a good enough reason for all the pain MC had to endure ( ゚Д゚) <!!. But then again, that may due to the weak/rushed ending. I would have also liked to see ML falling in love with MC because it was more like love at first sight for him while MC's love was more believable. <<less

I know BL is filled with toxicity. But this novel is the definition of toxic.

Love the translation. Translator did a good job.

The novel itself isn't horrible. It's not something I ever regret reading but it's not something bareble.

... more>> MC is just a plain otaku. Or maybe attractive beauty otaku. They never describe his real life looks. While ML is a guy with split personality not sure why.

I just finished reading but the thing I solely remember and one that actually make it exhausting to read was the MC and ML making love with each other nonstop. It was to the point where it just so repetitive and it's not even a detailed scene.

The communication between MC and ML is what I think feels genuine. Misunderstanding occurs because they didn't understand each other. And well ML didn't trust. But that what I feel a real relationship have. They can't read each others mind.

I could handle misunderstanding and I love possessive. The drama was too heavy tho but

What I can't handle was the toxicity. All the red flags and the borderline Disney princess syndrome.

Not actually spoilers. Just complains

Spoiler

The MC would be so in love he would be 'I die if I don't have you' sort of thing.

While ML would put MC so many things just to part with him. I understand the reason behind but.

ML would r*pe MC repeatedly just for revenge. Due to a misunderstanding that ML caused. Because he can't trust MC.

MC would take in the r*pe and reliant on him so that he won't be angry and MC show his love for him. MC had no back bone. He did get angry once or twice but that doesn't mean he had a superior position. He always back down because he love ML and would die without him.

They spend dozens of years together in his mental world but they barely had a basic understanding for each other. I'm not saying for MC to suddenly knew all of ML issue. But like if you knew ML was ML and that his d is his d. I would expect you to know of his personality after dozens of years. And not just being spoiled by him whenever you had a moment of HE.

[collapse]

Overall, The translator did a great job in translating and the Novel itself was a bit exhausting. So if you're expecting something exciting and a sweet romantic couple... Not the right book.

But if you're love flags the colour of red and tons and tons of s*x marathon but very vague description. Then jump onto it. And get therapy. Cause I feel like I need it more when I was reading this <<less

Pretty standard melodramatic, angsty, r*pey, BL-fair.

The MC didn't bother me as much as the ML. Also the MC thinks it's ok for the ML to physically abuse him because he had previously betrayed the ML (fictionally). IT iS NOT OK.

Spoiler

I don't f*cking care if the dude killed your parents ok, there's literally no excuse to physically abuse ANYONE, EVER. Actually, sure, punch the mu*derer who killed your family a few times to let out steam.

But literally raping someone day after day, imprisoning them, or intentionally trying to make s*x painful for them, and then claiming to still "love" them, that is PURE bullsh*t right there.

It is not romantic, it is not healthy, avoid at all costs.

There are a bunch of novels that have similar premises that I think were better written than this one.

This story is a lot like QT.

I really enjoyed this story. MC's character design was more realistic as in he wasn't really OP or so confident at the beginning. I actually liked this. It's not that his job description was really very clear or easy. He was just muddling through, but got better after a while.

ML is quite stereotype. Please read the tags I would say.

When MC finished its job there was some angst. The explanation in end was really good. It made the HE extra sweet.

Pairing Type: quick transmigrator MC x yandere, split personality ML; standard formula gong - yandere variant; abusive gong (in the dream world)

Tropes: transmigration into someone’s dreams; yandere; omegaverse; superpowers; xianxia; split personality; eating your own vinegar; western fantasy and elves

... more>> Triggers: violence; death; extremely dubious consent (MC is willing but ML thinks he’s raping him) ; several very violent, abusive s*x scenes in dreamscapes; painful sex; this is TRIGGER HEAVY novel, and should not be taken lightly if you are sensitive to any of the above subject matters

Heat level: medium (3/5 spiciness, open door but not explicit)

Re-readability: won’t reread

Similar novels: many of this author’s same works, such as Game Loading

Okay, so this novel was a bit of a rough read so I would not recommend it for everyone. Or probably most people if I’m being completely honest.

Probably the biggest caveat regarding this novel is the ML. Since the MC is trying to cure him of a mental disturbance, he is constantly abused mentally, physically, and sexually by the ML. MC puts up with it because he has fallen for the ML, and the dream versions of him are understood to be broken or half complete versions of the real him. Which is why the MC is willing to overcome. Personally, it didn’t disturb me too much but I could absolutely see how this could be extremely triggering to some.

Spoiler

Spoiler

The first arc was also especially violent, though it is a fairly big spoiler. The ML quickly turns into a yandere and actually rips out the MCs beating heart. He also imprisons the MCs childhood friend (in the dream, the MC obviously doesn’t actually die and the childhood friend doesn’t exist). It’s pretty shocking and pretty sudden. Makes you wonder how in the hell MC actually falls for the ML. Interestingly, the ML is probably the most yandere in the first arc and also never kills the MC again (despite the fact that MLs assistant tries to express that the stakes are higher in the later arcs). Instead of mu*derous, the ML becomes more sexually violent as the story progresses.

[collapse]

I would say a good 70% of their s*x scenes were at least dub-con if not full blown r*pe. MC is extremely forgiving but it’s a surprisingly abusive novel.

I’m honestly also blanking on most of the plot lines as well, some of them really s**ked and there weren’t that many. That being said they were fairly entertaining. The only reason my rating is as high as it is is because I did read the novel fairly quickly. Which means it was at least captivating to some extent.

I have noticed that this author has written several very similar stories in which the ML drinks his own vinegar/gives himself a green hat. In that way, Game Loading is quite similar and even had an initial arc where the MC kept getting mu*dered lol. Game Loading is a better novel by a significant margin. A Wave of Exes was an earlier one with a similar concept, which I personally felt was a weak novel. So, it seems like the author is playing around with this concept and improving it as they go along. At least it seems that way from their ratings on more recent novels that also have similar concepts.

So, would I recommend this novel? Probably not, but if the plot sounds interesting to you you might wanna give it a shot. Personally, I’d recommend looking at this author’s later works, as they are similar but appear to have improved the formula. <<less

LMAFAOOO that ending. It ended with a slightly concerned touch for my pair but whatever, what makes them happy works.

Anyways, looking for a breather, something to read and not really think too much about? Something that undoubtedly will demolish your brain cells but will still be pleasurable if you crave a brainless setting that doesn't alert your brain it's too brainless? This is the book for you!

If any of the above mentioned are not what you are looking for, please do not read. I beg you. You're gonna get unbelievably... more>> pissed off.

If you are looking for the before mentioned, make sure you read tags folks! C'mon, it's the same old line-up. Anyways, this novel's author wanted to focus more on the emotional entanglements than plot building, so keep that in mind when you read. It's a good novel if you're looking for

    • Possessive ML
    • Worlds that range from fantasy to interstellar to modern to cultivation
    • Fun Guilty Pleasures (if you don't mind tags too much)

I like the arcs and the MCs personality even though there're a lot of places where he could exploit the plot and doesn't. The holes in the story don't ever really get explained but that doesn't mean that it's a bad novel. I like the cultivation arc and how the author let him start in a fantasy world. The ending was pretty rushed, like suddenly they were kicked out of the 5th world and then they're in a mind space to talk about going back into reality???? But when MC and ML talk about going back to reality, you want to smack them both.

Spoiler

MC decides to erase ML's memories and they don't meet until 6 months later. MC decides this because MC & ML are both worried about ML's ability. ML can read peoples' hearts/minds (?) and being able to read MC's heart may cause them to break up in the future.

But low and behold, the ML can't hear anything when he's by MC's side. Which would have been solved quicker if they just met each other right away and tried to make it work out.

The main antagonist in every world is the lack of communication that leads to misunderstandings. The 3rd arc left a bad taste in my mouth because there were just too many misunderstandings (which you'll find out why later, but still it's hella annoying) <<less
