4.5/5

Not anywhere near prefect but deserve more than 4 stars compare to other series here.

A lot of things seems to be too easy for MC but not to the point of unbearable yet.

Translator also did excellent job except chapter 4-12.

Ending Maker is a Korean webnovel that mixes Japanese isekai tropes and western RPG mechanics with Chinese martial arts to create what ends up being a rather unique setting. The characters are interesting and likable, and the story draws you in. The dialogue is a joy to read, and the two lead characters play off of each other very well.

Major props to the translator for putting in an extraordinary amount of effort despite only starting out with MTL, and for constantly going back to earlier chapters and improving the translation... more>> quality as their own Korean grows better. The updates are also very frequent, which is fantastic.

All in all, there is no specific aspect to Ending Maker which is extraordinarily original, but it is the holistic totality of the story, as well as its high quality of execution, that make the series unusually enjoyable. I highly recommend it. <<less

Absolutely phenomenal! Very entertaining, with two great main characters.

It's a very fun take on transmigration, with more than enough detail to understand the world they are living in and some great internal thoughts and dialogue between all characters. Love it!

If this series was a person, I would simp it to death!

That doesn't mean that LoVe haS BlinDEd mE, but that it is just that awesome!

Nowadays stories with romance involved are either so sweet, that you have to worry about dentist bills, or poisoned by outside circumstances. The pair here is neither of that. They may be two birds of a feather, but don't love each other from the start. I ABSOLUTELY love a friendly rivalry on equal footing. The characters can still brag about themselves among each other,... more>> without any sense of inferiority developing.

I don't hate them knowing of future events as well, since they actually manage to milk this information properly. Goals are set, but the story still progresses uniquely, without leaving the reader in the cold. The bickering and romantic development of the two may play a role in that assertment though.

I adore the romantic uncertainty of the male lead though. I mean, he learns, that the target of his bullying was a beautiful girl, that now is his fiancee? She may think of him as a scumbag, but his skill, at manipulating her to like him is just precious.

Don't get me wrong. He isn't devious or anything like that. Imagine it as a somewhat staged date, without having the other party noticing. *Devilish cackle*

His character may deviate further into a male yandere as the story goes forth, but if it does, I imagine him to be subtle about it. Like always.

Another reason to like this novel is the lack of a dark past *other than their gaming career*.

They have a flawless bloodline, and are pragmatists. Imagine your storybook heroes using their heads and inciting desirable situations. Not simply solving them when all went to hell.

If you aren't willing to miss a gem of romance/action/fanasy, THEN READ IT!!! <<less

Great novel, it did a lot of the Things right I dislike in other novels. Unfortunately some parts were rushed and got repetitive so 4.5/5 rounded to 4.

I personally liked the romance a lot. NO HAREM where the available time for romance gets split between harem members. The interactions between the two are very dynamic and we keep jumping between the two characters perspectives. Their relationship develops slowly over time instead of one or both of them Falling in love instantly/after being saved/ after doing something special like in other... more>> novels which I definitely enjoyed.

Similar novels often have the problem of only MC knowing about the future/game/etc. Which means we often only hear about things when they happen because MC cant explain it to anyone. While this is still often the case in this novel too when the characters actually do talk about future Events it feels a lot more natural and less forced.

The ending is great albeit rushed like the author himself admitted but the amazing after story somewhat makes up for that. We get a very satisfying and logical explanation on how they got into that World which is rarely the case. And the final fight and epilouge are also decent albeit a bit underwhelming. Overall the novel had pretty much perfect length. Not so short that you wish it was longer but not so long that everything happens for the xth time and Power Inflation is so crazy that MC goes from country to Planet to heaven to galaxy to Universes to meta Verse and beyond.

Unfortunately some things get a bit repetitive. Some Jokes are overdone While others are still great after a dozen times I guess this Is mostly Personal preference. Also in the middle of the novel the characters get power ups by absorbing stuff a bit too often or make a sudden breakthrough under pressure. This gets old really fast in all the novels that do it.

Some of the fights and aftermath are also very predictable. Looking at the items and skills the MCs have you sometimes know how the fight will play out before it even Begins.

All in all it Still did a lot of things well other novels fail to do. Especially the romance, ending and pacing hence the high score. <<less

The novel is a cute/fun to read, it started off pretty good at the start but got kind of repetitive with the banter between the two protagonists. The plot was also kind of repetitive seeing how it was “get quest, fight monster/solve puzzle, get reward/stronger” rinse and repeat. Overall it’s a good casual read if you’re not looking to read anything plot heavy. Though at least the concept of the plot was pretty interesting. ... more>>
Spoiler

It was a time loop, I like reading about time loops n alternate timelines, they’re fun... especially since Lucas technically has two different lovers now thanks to the alternate time loops lmao

[collapse]

Also, about the reviews on how the rewards/loot/strengths and weaknesses of the MCs are unbalanced, I have some idea (?) as to what you are talking about? I mean I can see how the ML’s strengths (analytical ability, photographic memory, etc.) can overshadow the FL’s natural battle instincts, intuition and strength. They’re both strong in their own ways like how MAG ATK and PHYS ATK are both ATK stats but are strong in their respective areas in different ways. <<less

The contents of the story are, overall, pretty damn good. The pacing is pretty impressive, and while it is rushed towards the end due to circumstances out of the author’s control, not once have I felt that it was rushed, nor have I felt that the quality of the writing has suffered from the last arc being rushed in the first place. Reading the whole story put you through an adventure that felt natural and organic. The actions and dwells within the story are fairly consistent and well written. I... more>> did not feel like I was wasting my time reading this novel. Another thing I would like to mention is the romance. I normally don’t read many books or novels that involve romance as one of their driving points, but this one was so well written and wholesome. I fell in love with the main leads and how they grew and interacted with each other. There’s a lot more I would like to say, but I will end it here. Thank you for your time, if you actually read this through. <<less

To be honest, at first I thought it would be a typical Past Regression/Power Fantasy novel, rinse and repeat, wish fulfillment, the same old...

But once I gave it a chance... it had character and depth that novels like it simply don't.

The cast, all of them, are fully-fleshed out with dreams, motivations, and stories of their own, if you give them a chance.

Spoiler

Every major battle is hard-fought, requiring creativity, grit and a lot of blood.

Like, these poor protagonists get absolutely rekt and they just barely seize victory from the jaws of defeat, 7 times out of 10.

[collapse]

There are a few areas near the end that are somewhat rushed, but the author more than compensates with the postscript/sidestories, which are extended epilogues onto themselves.

Spoiler

Though I wish he'd had the time/leeway to dedicate an arc to them sweeping the post-final boss and wrecking Hell.

[collapse]

It's a slow burn, but...

Spoiler

Holy f**k does it burn, like an California wildfire.

You'll get more romance than you bargained for if you wait long enough.

[collapse]

And the author's a master of foreshadowing.

Spoiler

He hinted at the final boss well before she stepped in.

And pay very close attention to Blade Song's reaction to Jude.

[collapse]

There are a few minor plot holes here and there, but nothing major, easy enough to wave away with fiat.

All-in-all, one of the best Korean LNs I've read to completion thus far, fourth to "I've Reincarnated For Nothing", then "Second Coming of Gluttony" and finally "Everyone Else is a Returnee". <<less

Beginning a bit rocky with the male protag basically winning everything while the girl does the work, but after some initial setup it gets a lot more balanced and the girl gets most of the POV too. Lots of good dialog, etc, fun for a few hundred chapters. Eventually by like chapter 250 though both protagonists are too powerful to actually do interesting things and it becomes just a checklist of 'go to X place, defeat the enemy in a vague, boring way, repeat'

Characters are cute / wholesome, powers are cool, the world is interesting and due to the story's nature the plot is well delineated with a clear end-goal while still managing not to overshadow and undermine the fun & value of the journey itself.

I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a fun fantasy / romance with aspects deriving from multiple genres & mediums.

Also, regarding the elephant in the room, no, the novel is not sexist. Multiple major / powerful characters are female and women are not portrayed as inferior to... more>> men nor are any prejudiced belief promoted / high-lighted. I'll go as far as to say that reviews making such claims are making improper usage of the term "sexism". <<less

I was a bit skeptical when I heard it's MTL but the translation turned out to be actually so good. If there's a problem then it is mainly from the author's writing, when you're reading there are parts when you don't understand the context of the dialogues because the author didn't elaborate or described the situation well, it happen a few times. Aside from that this one had quite a lot of jokes that only koreans will understand, so expect that you'll only get 80% of the overall jokes said... more>> in the story.

Reading this, seriously I'm bored already around chapter 60-70. It started great but as I read on I started to get annoyed listening to the main characters bickering and jokes here and there since the author just keeps repeating the words and sentences they said to each other. It's fun in the first time then repeated twice- thrice- and to the point my ear is bleeding just listening to both of them, it's like listening to a great song repeatedly no matter how good the song, you'll just get sick of it after hundreds of replays. I was fine reading it when it was on a point of view of side characters but when it's the main characters I found myself skipping their conversation.

Maybe bingeing this is a wrong idea, it's a type of story that is better to read on the sidelines while having another story you give your focus on.

This is overrated. It's not bad but for me whole story is barely 4 stars. Side characters are great but the repeated banters of main characters ruined my enjoyment. <<less

I'm probably taking a break from this novel. I'm near the end, I know, but some of the elements of this story deteriorated really quickly.

I'll start with some background on what I hate. I hate peanut galleries and forced reactions. Especially prolonged and repeated ones. I'm looking at you, awkward Japanese novels. I'm looking at you, Toika. And also this novel.

No, side characters don't have to look at the couple with cold or warm eyes Every. Single. Time they flirt. It's unessecary slog the reader has to go through. No,... more>> the characters don't have to go 'kya kya' as a reaction, although this is probably a translation thing because I know how Korean works. No you don't have to brag and stick out your chest or whatever for every small action you do. It peeves me and it has s**ked the enjoyment out of this novel.

Now that that is out of the way, some things I feel that are maybe a little out of place. The power levels seems a little awkward. It seems the author didn't want to snowball the power levels to space and dialed them really far back, maybe a little too much. Maybe I'm just used to other rampant power levels from other novels. It just feels a little weird to me that they're described as yay level strong but they can't really do much. Another viable way to stop snowbal is to, you know, stop progressing the character so much, but that's probably an unpopular opinion.

Now even though I've bashed on this novel a little, it's pretty good. I just couldn't stand the peanut gallery and forced reactions. I saw some reviews coming into this novel saying that it was sexist (?) and the FMC wasn't being treated well (?) or something like that. I personally think that the author did some good power balance to the couple, even with the awkward power system (or maybe because of the power system). Overall a solid novel to spend your time on. It has heavier romantic aspect than similar novels like EER, but it kinda feels like the author blew it all on the set up of the romance and then pulled out their brain for the actual romance itself. But, most novels on here don't even do the set up correctly so kudos to the author. I came here looking for fantasy, action and romance. If you're the same, you'll get those from this novel. <<less

Great (very) slow-burn romance.

I thought this was going to be yet another isekai/vrmmo-portal/regressor type story, and while it is that, it's mostly just a slow romance.

Very slow. However slow you're thinking, it's even slower. I think she kisses him on the cheek for the first time around chapter 140?

... more>> Like Chwiryong's other works, your questions DO eventually get answered. It just takes a very very long time.

The final arc goes a little too fast, but it's not as rushed as other serial translated novels I've seen. And there are side-stories and epilogues aplenty (themselves totaling more pages than other entire novels).

So if you can handle the VERY VERY slow start, and are interested in a fantasy romance, maybe check this out. But be warned that the entire book is over 1, 100, 000 words (more than the entire Harry Potter series, for comparison). It's not for people who are lacking patience. <<less

Ending Maker is quite good. It has a consistent pace and holds onto the slow burn romance for quite some time.

Pros:

  • Descriptive and engaging action and fight scenes.
  • Slow-paced romance that builds for a long time, but feels earned as it progresses.
  • Planned writing that does not forget its origin and revisits topics.
  • Enjoyable lead characters.
Cons:

  • The official ending is technically "complete", but requires reading some of the side stories to get to a fuller resolution.
  • One of the side stories is gender-bender - it's not essential to the plot.
  • The scope of the story is massive, with good pacing - but this can lead to some events and characters towards the end feeling as though they aren't fully fleshed out. On the flip side, there is plenty of content for the author to make side stories.
Overall,... more>> this story was very intriguing and interesting at the beginning. There is a little bit of grindiness, but it retains charm and ingenuity throughout. It isn't so long that I got exhausted by the end, but the scope is so big that the end struggles to have a satisfying conclusion. As with many stories of progressively greater power, you always feel as though there's more to grow. Ending Maker handles it better than most. <<less

Great romcon between the two main characters and very likable supporting cast.

If you like game like elements this is the novel for you. Two game addicts from earth got transported into this game that they played to death, using their prior knowledge and powering up at a rapid past. Interaction between the two is always sweet, definitely a fun and enjoyable read.

When they said this story was a little biased on the Male Protag they did not lie. It actually makes sense if he is the only MC but they have to drag Hong Yoo Hee too. I do not know if this kind of plot will eventually grow on me I would have to drop this because of that.

But so far the translation is good and surprisingly it is MTL (?) if you can ignore the disparity of treatment between the two characters the maybe this would be a good... more>> story for you. <<less
