Very unique mermaid human love story. One of the the best I have read. I wish it ran a little longer! Thank you for taking the time to translate this novel.

3.5 but Rounded up.

This story is kind of cute as long as you ignore the parts that make it seem like the ML is an animal as opposed to someone who cannot communicate due to physical differences. Also, learning languages doesn't work like that but it is a fantasy story, so that's one of the suspensions of disbelief for this story.

What I mean by that is that it is really, really hard to convey abstract words when teaching someone a language. The part where she tells him that she likes him and he reciprocates is an example of abstract which is glossed over. Another example is "I".

This is all compounded by the fact that they have no common language between them. She doesn't even point at things to express the word for it (as an example here). The author just jumps over it all.

The FL is a young woman who was knocked off a boat (or the boat flipped due to a rogue wave, it's a little hard to tell) and adjusted really quickly to living on the islands (she travels between a couple of them). She tries really hard not to be reliant on the merman but develops feels for him.

She literally hooks up with him within a year of being there. She has about one minute of crying over losing her family and home and then it's only ever mentioned in passing (if at all).

The ML is a young merman who finds the FL after appears in this world. Curious at first because she has "two tails" and she's different than the rest of his kind. He quickly views her as his companion and does his best to take care of her. Also, he's like... a year old (which we don't really learn until near the end of the story and further expanded by an after story that's from his PoV).

Other than that, there really isn't much to say about this story. I guess the genre could be called slice of life as there really isn't any difficulty with her surviving. The Merman literally brings her food and she is capable of bow-fishing. Even the two "disastrous" events are kind of lacking as road bumps in their life.

A tropical storm wipes out her home so they just move to a different island which is even better for the pair as they can make pathways of water for him.

Even him getting hurt after rescuing her from two big carnivores is quickly glossed over. She doesn't have to do anything to save him as his parents show up and bring them food and healing goop.

This definitely would have been a much better story if some things were fleshed out (like the mermaid society or how/why the FL was there) and if the FL wasn't so completely chill about everything. From her arrival to her pregnancy, she only has one moment where she acts like the age she is supposed to be. Otherwise, she is like the goddess of being laid back. Also, the pregnancy was odd.

Not in the sense of her laying a gel egg because I'm just leaving that as the suspension of belief but that the author never really wrote the FL as having a normal response. It also made it seem like the pregnancy was a 'just cuz' moment in the writing. The baby was only with them for two years before it was bigger than the FL and left home. This is covered in like... two chapters.

I did find the scrapped ideas and reasoning entertaining to read but that has nothing to do with the main story.

Anyway, it's an alright read if you want something that's mostly fluff with an instance of very tame smut (given it's with a merman and only happens once). <<less

I love this story. I love the sweet interaction between the FL and ML. I love how the ML takes care of the FL and how he protects her with all of his being. Despite the fact that they barely understood each other's languages, it still did not hinder them to communicate what they feel to each other. Over all, 10/5

This was a very cute and refreshing story. If you want to read something light hearted then I really recommend it. However, you must be warned that many issues and situations are approached by the MC without much thought and that her sometimes over simplified and unconcerned thought process can make the story appear quite unrealistic ... more>>

Really mellow and relaxing read towards the end but I’m not indicating that the beginning was not at all fluff because it was. Really really enjoyed this ML being so considerate and indulging towards MC. Kind of sad that this cute story was just too short for me to get into because it lightened my mood a bit.

Just finished binging this delightful story. Its short, very sweet and original. The author did a great job with an original idea and plot and kept a nice tight pace, and the translator did a great job with smooth, easy to read translation.

I wish there were more stories from this author on NU and I will definitely check out this translators (erZOO) other stories.

This was a fun, cute read if you're interested in a story of a 15 y.o. Girl who accidentally shipwrecks into an unknown world and has a romance with a young merman.

It was quite quick and I didn't expect to finish it in one go as I did. If I were to say I'd have any qualms it'd be some unanswered questions (that I was personally curious about, but truly doesn't need to be addressed.)

    1. Did the MC stay forever on that island in that alternate world?
    2. What happened to the other people that was on that shipwreck? Did they go into the same world? Did they die? Did they remain in the o.g. World and the MC was a chance encounter?
    3. What's the world's mythos? Is it just a primitive society where monsters/supernatural beings reside? Is there any mainland?

This was so wholesome!!! My hearteu ahhh >///<

Really love the transition of their relationship, and how both of their characters are fleshed out. The fluff oh the fluff is absolutely the best. Before reading this I thought that she would somehow return to her world and there'd be oh so much drama lol but nothing like that happens, it was consistent throughout and I love how nice everything was. I absolutely love LOVE the ML, he's so sweeeeet, I kept on comparing him to the ML from another novel ... more>> (Gentle Beast) and wondered how these two had such similar ideas but how different they are in reality. Because here, I have absolutely no qualms about the ML. Of the nature of their relationship, it's very sweet.

Well it's quite a short read (sadly) but really worth it! Kudos to the translator who brought us this sweet Novel. <<less

I loved this novel! It was super sweet and fluffy, which honestly, right now is really what I need lol.

early on MC says shes distressed and misses her family, etc. Makes sense right? But then thats it??? Lol like it’s basically just never mentioned again she doesn’t even say like “oh I guess I won’t ever be able to go back” like there’s not even a moment of realization and acceptance? Kinda strange lol

Also I loved the extra stories at the end, though I wish it had expanded on ML’s race and family prior to meeting MC.

Personally I believe this story could have been longer and more fleshed out, but I still love it as is! If you’re in need for some sweet fluff I really recommend! <<less
