Ugh...i must say the ML is gross. Not personality based but appearance based. Since its involves mermaids/merman which is basically...a fish, you can expect a lot of fishy, mucus filled, disgusting scenes. Yucky! But this is also a plus point when compared to other mermaid novels coz there is no beautification of merfolk as an ancient creatures. All you get here is gore and monsters. The MC had gone through a tragic past which he don't remember and of all characters I love vincent. Poor guy! The story is good,... more>> worth read. Just I'm not satisfied which its story sequence. I think it can be better. <<less

I must said throught the short few chapters and mtl to the end. It quite of a good read. With many twist and turn, both of a fluffy lovely and a bit of gorey part.

The MC is pretty cute, in the beginning he kinda the spineless one, but later there a bit of growing up happen to him, he remember some stuffs, get through a bit of gorey hardship. Then gain a bit of courage to do what he want without running away.

The ending was somehow a bit of a sharp cut off type. I would say this is an okay to read in passing types with it details and a bit of gorey overall.

OMG! Such an incredible story. It's truly an emotional rollercoaster. Its probably has angsty and gory a bit, but all of them very worth it.

HE. A reviewer here said that its open ending/BE. But my raw its HE. I don't know whether the author updated or changed the end. Or the author has Alternative finish where the reviewer got BE, while mine is HE.

MC, ML, and MC brother managed to escape, and they living their life.

. Nothing is ever what it seems and I find myself constantly looking forward to the next chapter.

However, it is worth noting for those that want supernatural yaoi romance all the way, it's chapter 33 and nothing of the sort has developed. Although the foundation for the ML's love is slowly building but

we have never seen things from his point of view and we're not even sure if "he" actually has coherent thoughts or acts on instinct so it's hard to tell whether he loves the MC in the conventional human way. The MC has 0 interest in romancing his pet so yeah if you're here for the romance then this isn't for you

Pros :

Unique setting. It's mostly in kansas or somewhere in America. I'm honestly shook. All of the characters have western names or origins.

The MC is a poor bby. The author rlly like to torment MC. Sh*t always hit the ceiling whenever MC's around.

MC got kidnapped, got tortured by the kidnapper, lost his memories, got adopted. His brother found MC but bro got paranoid about MC. Bro went cray cray and kinda stalker-ish. Then MC got a pet fish?? Or merman. And a killer as his neighbour that bro paid to be MC's nanny. PLOT TWIST, killer neighbor was MC's step bro when he was kidnapped. Then real bro (the paranoid bro) got sick and turned into a siren. Step bro tried to killed MC but got killed by MC's pet fish instead.

Real bro's ex gf went cray cray and paid some men to capture MC and experiment on him. Not before, MC got kidnapped by a siren that is basically a siren with real bro dna. We gonna call him 'organ donour'. So organ donour tortured MC and somehow tried his damn hardest to get MC pregnant with pet fish's baby.

Organ donour apparently hates MC and real bro and is sick in the head. I swear nearly every single person in this novel needs THERAPY.

Altho I could imagine that he was kinda ugly at first. The romance isn't anything new but still enjoyable.

The fanwai is a must read. It's a short story about MC'S real bro years after the main story finished.

in fanwai 1, We got some slice of life moments with MC, pet fish and real bro living together. In fanwai 2, MC and pet fish are dead. It's been years since the main story and interspecies marriage has been legalized. We found out that real bro is still obsessed with MC and can't get him out of his head. Author said that real bro feeling towards MC is something special

The amount of sh*t that happened to MC just baffled me. Kidnapping, revenge, dead bodies, bombs, playing hide n seek with the cia, falling in love with your pet fish, etc. The action scenes in every labs always end with a big explosion. And a big number of dead people. I'm sorry, James Bond who??

All in all, I still enjoy it. What can I say, I have a heavy taste. Will probably never reread this.

This is a well-written sci-fi/horror/mystery/drama that leaves my spine tingling and knows how to lay on the suspense. The characters all have their own depths, motivations, psychological issues, and secrets. It is one of the better mystery/horror series I've encountered in awhile, and I love the questions it inspires.

The use of imagery is excellent. The plot is intriguing and weaved in a web loaded with interconnected mysteries. The setting is modern-day USA, but there has NOT been any Chinese nationalism or sexism common in many other Chinese web novel series.

Although... more>> this has a yaoi tag, there has been no romance or smut thus far. This series is a good plot-driven story that also just happens to be a BL.

I am thirsting for more of this series and don't have any complaints about the series itself thus far. <<less

Its dark. Not really my type although I saw the ominous tages I still read it and to the end

I like the ml. I was searching for some different ML than the indifferent / cold / fasial paralysis Mls. God, most romance story whatever the type has this type of ml.

MC not feeling sexually attracted to munster untill external intervention. It is not the cause of him falling in love but it is very important and logical. After all ML is not a human and can't be judged completely by human attractions [/spoile]

The author really got over the bored in using dark elements or tragic incedents. She almost used every idea I saw before to the point that I don't sampathy with the MC any more (numb)... it is too much that it makes the story annoying.[
