People who are in search of romance would be disappointed in this novel. But then again, the tags did say romantic subplot so having the romance not even really start until the end is kinda a given. The FL never saw the ML (who does not appear THAT often frankly) in a romantic way and even in the end the romantic feelings are only coming from the ML. But since there is an open end anything could happen really...

I, for one, was not bothered by that lack of romance, just... more>> enjoying the game experience.

In the plot there are no major plot twists or major set backs. Sure, a lot of people died here and there. But you could consider the FL's gaming process pretty smooth. Her hoarding tendencies made her have a solution to any problem the game threw at her. That's good, I guess.

Considering that the FL managed to keep a lot more people alive than specified by the game to pass you can see just how smooth everything went for her. Maybe her plot armor is just strong or her protagonist halo just exceptionally shiny. Either way, she know how to use her resources efficiently and along with the Lord token has thus an advantage to other players, some of which can be quite s*upid.

Anyways, those who like a strong independent FL who is so dense she doesn't notice romantic interest even when it's thrown at her will find their expectations met here. <<less

Overall, the story is well-written. I just had to constantly backread because some names made me confused (too many characters). Really nice progression and it felt like I was playing along with Yun Ling. Easy read with good characters. The ending of the game is somewhat abrupt for me though. I was expecting more out of it.

Spoiler

The implied romance is sweet too. Our naive MC with our persistent but reliable ML. I hope Lu Chuan finally got her in their new game. The ending is just perfect for me.

I don't usually like gaming or apocalyptic novels, but I really enjoyed this one. When the world turns into an apocalyptic video game, the female MC (who had previously played this game) fires on all cylinders and eventually becomes
Spoiler

the greatest City Lord without anyone knowing her identity.

[collapse]

MC is a calm, far-sighted, hoarder. As one player realized, "Other people are role-playing in a game of fighting monsters and adventuring. You [the MC] are playing a resource management game."

There are many cannon fodder that die quick deaths in the video game to make the apocalyptic setting more convincing, but in general, the MC's city building is an optimistic, happy little society that kind of reminds me of Little House in the Big Woods. The POV sometimes switches to side characters, so you can get a better idea of the scope of the society that the MC builds. The romance with the OP archer ML is very subtle.

Okay read. The story was certainly eventful and FL, Yun Ling, was a likable character. However, the pacing is off... characters' thoughts, feelings, and actions which should take weeks or even years to develop occur in the first few days of the game. Of course this is a work of fiction but this creative license made it difficult to dive in and be taken away by the plot.

Also, the variety of characters and the sporadic appearances/reappearances made it difficult to develop affection for the them. As for romance, there might... more>> be a dribble... and it might not even fill up a mug. The result was a feeling of disconnect with the novel.

Spoiler

As per the intro, FL becomes the lord of a territory. Her insightful judgement and hoarding tendency slowly builds her territory to become the best in the game.

SPOILER...

...

The game last for three years. Each year has four seasons and each season lasts for 30 days. If one territory survived with more than 100 players after the third year, time would revert back to the beginning as if nothing happened.

FL led her territory to victory and time went back. Everyone lost their memories but it seems like ML, Lu Chuan, was able to retain his memory.

Of note: There is no explanation as to why the world became a game or who caused it.

PHENOMENAL!! A very good and satisfying read. The author use the 4 seasons to keep track of time. Each presents unique challenges and advantages for survivor. There's always new things to look forward to, such as new buildings, new characters, and of course new ways to survive in the ever so evolving apocalyptical world! The author knows when to move on, and not describing how the leaf sways gently in 5 paragraphs. Special skills, special items, gaming buff, debuff, rare equipment, and many more. Once in a while the perspective... more>> changes to few residents with background and goal. Tbh not very fleshed out, but who cares! Because what's written serves a purpose (shows how a person with certain mindset approach a specific challenge) and not just a wall of text to satisfy the author imagination and only him. It's like being guided to put yourself into someone else's shoes, which is an experience in itself. VERY RECOMMENDED! NOT A SIMPLE HACK AND SLASH NOVEL! In fact it is focused on worldbuilding, but the MC is also good at fighting.

Downside : Only 80 chapters. Good luck finding something on par and you haven't read before. Don't be too indulgent :D <<less

This is a novel for people with a special tastes. That is, those who like novels with Game and Survival Elements. In terms of character development and romantic development, it's quite lacking. The plot is also pretty straightforward with a rather disappointing ending. HOWEVER, all those negative points aside, so long as you're the type to enjoy reading about a character building infrastructure, hoarding supplies, etc. To survive an apocalyptic environment, then this is not a bad read!

I just happen to be a person who like such things, so this... more>> novel was just right for me. If you're not the same, it's probably best to avoid this novel. Or, well, you can try it out, but there's no telling if you'll enjoy it. It's short enough that it shouldn't be too much time invested though! And the TL is quite good.

Usually I would write up a rather lengthy review, but because the novel is shorter than my usual read, I've decided to keep this review trimmed up and just note my usual criteria: Character: 2/5 (Really poor character development. Actually, there's no development at all. I'm tempted to give this a 1/5 rating, but well, despite the lack of character development, the characters are still notable in their own ways). Romance: 1/5 (I have no choice, this is really not a romantic novel. There is a romance subplot, but it's pretty much non-existent. As such, although I included this on this list, it would count in the overall rating.) Setting: 4.5/5 (The game elements were very consistent and there was a reason for everything in the end! It's only that the fast-pacing something cut off those details I like.) Plot: 3.5/5 (The novel can be a bit dull if you're not interested in infrastucture/farming/crafting/etc.), Personal Enjoyment: 4/5 (Despite the fact that I consider this novel far from perfect, there's no denying that I enjoyed it in my own way!

That means that the final rating is: 3.5/5 stars! Not bad~ The story is definitely far from perfect, but it should have a niche audience who would enjoy it. Could have been better if the author paid a little closer attention to the characters, but I'm also content with the way it is~ <<less

5/5 A gem!

I loved it. It was a nice read, kudos to the author and translator for this journey.

The plot was okay, the story is short, u will notice that it only have 80 chapter, but it's not cliffhanger. There's no unnecessary extra filler chapters, nor missing chapters.

There's no dramatic part such as betrayal from love ones and etc. There is a slight romance, but it's not the main point if the story. The main point is about how our MC Yun Ling hoard and construct her camp into a... more>> city. How she profits but at the same time trying her best to help the people in her camp to past the calamity days.

She's actually compassionate, but not overly friendly, she's not a scheming character too. No reason to scheme here lol.

MALE LEAD and romance. I saw someone said in their review that the ML is useless, I mean, not helpful for the MC... Which is DISAGREE.
Spoiler

They met at the beginning and he gave her a S card (although it's useless to him, but it's extremely useful for her). This card saved her from a lot of hardship and made it easier for her to survive. Then he occasionally do things for her (at first because he doesn't wanna owe her, so he pays back, but MC also doesn't wanna owe others, so she pays back, and the cycle goes. They thought what they gave to each other is useless to them anyway, but little did they know that the other party thought that the "stuffs" are useful, and felt like they owe the other side again and again) but those little things came at the right time for the MC. He even got her another useful card.

Although they didn't get together, it's enough for me, it didn't cliffhanger me, whatever missing just needs to be mended by my imagination

[collapse]

The ending is not abrupt. The plot is good. The phase is perfect. The characters are amazing. The translation is amazing. Idk what else to say.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Ratings: 2.5 stars /5

I was quite dissapointed, honestly. It has high ratings and reading the review and how they saw the book as amazing, I was actually expecting it will be a good book. But it was actually pretty mediocre, it can't even reach my standard of what constitute a good LitRPG genre is.

One of the factors why is that is I have been reading this kinds of novel like a LOT, I can certainly confide that I have read more than 50 of this kind of books. It will... more>> be even shameful if were going to list this book together with those good LitRPG books.

First of all, the main character was very bland. You can hardly feel any emotions from her, she seems to be a dry plain wood in my eyes. When she says she's happy, you can hardly feel it. She was in an apocalypse but she acts like it's just a change in the weather. There's no fear, desperation, drive, determination, goal, wonder, surprise, etc. She's a very boring character.

There is also a lot of characters and a lot of change viewpoints of people that was going to die in a few minutes anyway, I can't see the need for this. There so much new characters every chapters and it is hard to remember them all. Like Im gonna be, where was that guy in that shop from the early chapter? Oh he's already dead, the one who dies from that monster. There death is pointless, I can't even muster any sympathy or regret. It's to the point that's it's getting chaotic.

The system was so-so. There was an occasional mishap with the proper numbers and it's application real time, but it's not that bad.

The emotions and reactions of people are not on point. They seems to be just like playing games, their mindset was the same. The extra and side characters was pretty uniform. They react the same way and acts predictably. There is no dynamics to their character, they were not flesh out and they lacks awareness of how people should react during a times where their lives was turn upside down and they can die anytime.

There are some minor issues that I'm not gonna list. I just tolerated them. In a positive light? I can't really tell what? The other aspects were not bad but they are not that good either. Just mediocre. The plot was not original, there's nothing new to offer and it hardly deviates from its kin.

I wanna drop this but I was not on that point where I was driven to drop this, it's not bad. It's just short so I might as well finish the time I might wasted if I didn't finish this. <<less

Finished reading in one night. I don't usually read this kind of novel without drama or conflicts but I really enjoyed reading this.

Although it was never explained how the game became reality and the anti-climatic ending, it was still ok for a short novel (<100ch). I just wished there's an extra for the NPCs and MC & ML romance (they're so cute together Lol)

It's very nice. After reading a lot of apocalyptic novels that only have zombies, reading this feels refreshing. The plot is very interesting and entertaining. A pity I didn't even see the ending of the romance well (╥﹏╥) I felt at loss after reading this one, I wonder what happened to the ML and their (Mc's) ending! I'm itching to know the development, but sadly there's no more chapters. Ó╭╮Ò Still, I highly recommend this one for those that love apocalyptic and survival novels. There's no much drama and romance, the story revolved all about management, survival, fantasy, and development. Also,

Spoiler

In the story after they successfully cleared the game, their memory were wiped and time turned back to before the apocalypse. All is well and the dead became alive again, but the ML seems to have retrained his memory based on ch 80. The ending is very different from other apocalyptic novels and it really amazed me.

I really really likes this story! Recently I've been getting board half way through when I pick up a story not so with this. FL is smart and she is also kind but not s*upid kind. She helps people but without putting herself at a loss. She finds mutually beneficial ways to help people along the way. She's not cold hearted and she keeps her humanity through the situation. And her calm, collected, intelligent planning also ends up making a place were others can also keep their humanity and progress.... more>> I disagree with the comment that FL changes her personality at the end. She makes a strategic decision that was definitely the right one
Spoiler

there were only a few days left she gave away resources (that would have otherwise never been used) for free to complete the mission for the good of everyone including herself.

Edit: 5 stars (for some reason the stars dont appear on my phone)

Loved it, 24 hours read.

The kinda game I would absolutly play.

I am also a hoarder when it comes to games as in you never know what you might need, if it is for free then keep it, so I totally loved the MC style.

For me there wasnt really any romance and I wasnt bothered by it

Just that at the ending

A short, but engaging and enjoyable territory-building story.

I like MC's character. While she's not a Mary Sue she's still friendly and kind. But, she will not be easily deceived by others nor will she let others who reciprocate her kindness with enmity run away easily.

She is a far-sighted hoarder and a good lord to her people. She wanted her territory to be a comfortable place for all, so to achieve that she always strive to grow it further and never hesitate to punish the wicked and vicious by throwing them... more>> out.

As for romance, well, it's so subtle that I could say almost non existent. Just a minimal attraction between the MC and ML. <<less

That was Good!! Loved it! The story was concentrated on the Game itself and NOT the usual drama/ romance/ revenge of the charcters which was a refreshing Change from other novels I usually read and I suprisingly really loved this. Really a Town/ Mangement game in the middle of the Apocaypse!! Really a relaxing read and I enjoyed it. Hahaha. Wish there was more!! It ends so fast...

I love this novel. I would definitely recommend it.

The romance was almost none existence, which I liked.

Most of the story was town building, slide of life, action and adventure.

The MC was smart and hard working. The ML was quite nice, he respected and took care of her.

Side characters also had great stories, I loved it when they supported each other in the apocalypse.

This was a fun read, I don't regret it. It was quite entertaining and engaging, it has slice of life vibes but with more thrill and deaths. You get a glimpse of other people's problems which keeps it going. My only complaint is the last chapter.

Spoiler

I saw the ending coming and knew they'd end up saying something so they'd be able to go back to how things were. I have nothing against it, but the reward was not satisfying at all. I mean, I guess that's better than being stuck in an apocalyptic world, but girlie just got some luck and how did they show it? By having her get better things in another video game. Honestly I think it should've ended right when they got sent back. I cried there, and it would've kept a mystery of what could happen in the future, then maybe show the scene of Lu Chuan recognizing her (Kimi no na wa style or something).

Also, they forced a conflict between her and other players so he could save her and owe him a favor and go back to the favor circle, but that was not where they should've shown her luck! If they weren't going to show a satisfying use of her luck they shouldn't have shown it at all.

Plus it was out of character for her to say that she'd ask him (now a stranger) every day if he had thought of what he wanted as pay back. But yeah, besides this chapter the novel was nice.

[collapse]

Now, the complaint is really only about the last chapter, the novel in itself was really good and I'd recommend it. <<less

this story is quite good.

while character motives are rarely explained through dialogue, their actions make it clear.

i don't have much to complain about, just that the multi perspective was sometimes a little confusing (who are we currently following? Is not always indicated at first), and the epilogue is on the short side.

character juggling is also minimal, side characters stay side characters, keeping the story focused op progression. There is also basically no plot armor, every action is a logical consequence or a logical solution based on earlier established plot (timing... more>> is sometimes quite short though). B.t.w. The thread of death is real for everyone except the truly over powered characters.

the story it self is basically S.A.O. Meeting log horizon, on a global scale. A death game where real world skills can contribute.

the story is short and good, if you like stories based on game mechanics, this is definitely a good read.

Good story, to short, and has one of the worse sorts of ends, we're the MCs personality is completely different and they act like it's normal, and we're everything was pretty much meaningless.

There were many instances of dumbing down the other characters/people in the world in an attempt to make the MC smart/lucky.
