Honestly, this is not a masterpiece per se, but it was a decent read. Just another Power Fantasy IsekaI Novel like other IsekaI there is. But it was a good read when you have nothing else to read nonetheless.

Honestly it's a great concept. If you are transported to a different world of magic... Then you must have a smartphone! The retro world will bore you to death unless you can browse our world's internet from over there. Add in a few more cheats. It's awesome.

But you don't need someone in the background to repeat "Yare yare! You'll get used to it soon" or "As expected " blah blah blah... It's so damn annoying.

The MC is a spineless wimp when it comes to his harem.

He gets... more>> kicked for no apparent reason and gets forced to dogeza even though he's much stronger than them in status and strength (in every way). He doesn't even evade. In such situations he totally lacks self respect.

When someone explains something. He's always in awe but never tries to understand it.

Him being dense is understandable. Because the girls around him are all minors! But it's weird how he can easily accept a child as a bride after talking so much about his morals?

Other than these minor details it's a really enjoyable story.

But it's hard to neglect the annoying things when the author is desperate to add annoying stuff to every paragraph! <<less

MC gets reincarnated and is given the choice to bring any one item. He chooses his smartphone, which God turns into an OP smartphone. It’s a decent story, pretty average. Smart MC who isn’t a wuss, always a plus. There is a harem, he's pretty much a magnet for girls. The phone is a little too OP, but since this novel gives off more of a slice of life vibe, it doesn’t detract from the value too much.

Sadly, it's the typical "some moron got a lot of luck on his side that even if he does normal things everyone is head over heels for him".

Do not misunderstand the following criticism. The story is at least readable. This is the point of view of someone who has been reading novels for years.

There's absolutely NOTHING new or significant to the plot, characters, dialogue, description, conveyance, etc.

Generally, authors use big names like Babylon in this series, or maybe other novel examples where they use Zeus, Excalibur, World... more>> Tree, etc. In order to make a wealthy story richer. But what's done here is dress a peasant in pyrite accessories and say he's wearing gold.

I admit that after reading the first TWO DOZEN novels about a harem that revolves around a worthless guy (be it apparent or not), I started rating similar series less, but not so much to undermine the whole thing. So I gave it a shot nonetheless. But when you build your story on the basis of a plot that's like a well used worn out rag, well there you go, the plot is like a well used worn out rag.

Well, it's a slice of life in another world... That's it. The humor is nonexistent (there's satire, but no humor, there's a difference), the action is nonexistent, all the side characters have the personality of an NPC: only existing to assist the MC. And worse yet, the MC was gifted extraordinary god-like power but only uses it to build bicycles, hot springs and electric fans, even though there's a race of demons who are capable of wiping out the human race, the unmotivated, indecisive MC just spends his... more>> time leisurely resting on his laurels. He decides to spend his time on slice of life magic even though he should be capable enough to learn more powerful magic, all so that he can hide behind 12 year-old girls when it comes time to battle. At least in Man Picked Up By the Gods (a similar slice of life IsekaI WN) the MC is motivated, decisive and capable of protecting himself.

With such an overused concept, there needs to be some aspect that stands out in order for the story to be entertaining, but this series has none. The satire is actually very good (I'm assuming it's satire and not just horrible writing), but the reader can't be entertained by satire alone, there has to be some other element such as comedy, action, adventure, or a unique MC. This series falls woefully short on all counts. If this is your first IsekaI novel then it might be worth two stars, but if you're an IsekaI veteran just skip this. <<less

No real conflict or strife, bad guys are immediately recognizable and are hapless before the main character. Supporting cast is superficial and uninteresting, social and class differences are mentioned but never play into anything concrete—the main character mingles with nobles without any trouble, a f**king Earl gives lip to a Duke without any consequences, the MC essentially tries to casually kill a noble and no one cares etc. — Those pesky old nobility are racist and backwards and are trying to plot the destruction of those poor beastmen because... more>> reasons while the sickly king on his deathbed is worrying about the alliance with the beastman kingdom instead of his family.

Main character is bland and uninspired; his weapons and magic have no actual flavor thus the fights are boring and short, with no room for turnabouts or climaxes.

Translation is decent enough and the writing is acceptable.

Indeed, a light-hearted harem, typical tension-less MC. Unfortunately, this falls into the typical trap that often comes with light-hearted stories, there's basically no plot, and since this doesn't bring in anything new, the only thing going for it is admiring the side characters. I'll give it a 3 for at least not having any huge negatives, but it isn't worth reading as anything more than filler.

Pretty self-aware for a story of this genre. Less of an escapist fantasy and more of a satire with a solid plot.

The world building isn't quite as complete as it could be, but may be expanded on in the future.

General impression: Fun.

It's one of the rare long running series that still managed to stay somewhat entertaining even to it's 400 chapters, a lot of long running series even though the beginning are interesting they're running out of gas and become boring after hundreds of chapters. Altough with the precaution of that it's not bad but it's also not groundbreaking; it stays in the line of interesting enough to read even though it's not a masterpiece.

Maybe because even though the MC is OP and his power keeps increasing, the obstacle is... more>> also increasing in proportion with the MC's growth too. The author is smart enough in rising the scale of the world in the series in keeping it somewhat interesting.

What helps keeping it interesting is it's having a rather clear goal troughout the series, compared to other WNs that lost the sense of goal along the way. For some time the MC needs to collect a series of thing, another time there's a clear set of enemy to defeat. Though it's true that it's somewhat simplistic but it's reassuring that the MC have somekind of purpose to achieve.

From half point from the series there's a minor genre shift into something else, but it's a good thing. For those who are curious about the genre shift:

it's introducing mecha elements in the series to defeat new kind of enemies

The low raters clearly do not understand what "light-hearted" and "slice of life" means.

If you can't be bothered to read my short review please do check the recommendations to know if you wanna read the novel or not.

Anyway, on to my 'review':

The novel has a 2 (possibly 3) plots though it takes over 100 chapters to get a glimpse of them. There's little (or most of the time) no action due to the world having an almost peaceful era. The adventurer days were done in a couple of... more>> chapters because it was done in a single country and there are other countries to "explore" which is an important part for the plot.

This review isn't made to encourage you to read this novel but rather a "rating" that can be used for those looking for a light-hearted slice of life story.

"Inexplicable Deus ex Machina!" If you're like me this description should immediately send you running. I didn't read much of this and it's not entirely bad. The problem was, at a certain point in the story there was a laughable instance of "power development. " After using his OP cheat in a few different ways a few different times he finally got the idea to cast a spell using the smartphone GPS to target enemies.

That's right. His smartphone inexplicably tracks enemies, can pinpoint their locations, and can be used... more>> as the focus of his spells. Previously, he had done nothing like this. No inkling of a hint given or possible explanation occurred beforehand pointing to this potential usage of his power. The author simply had a thought (I'm sure after nights of brainstorming on how a smartphone could be used in a fantasy setting) and decided that in particular was a good way to use his power and so it appeared in the story: suddenly, inexplicably, and unexplained. I dropped it on that chapter and I'm not willing to find which one it was.

That aside, I do recall that overall the writing was okay and the story was pretty generic.

Just a review showing why I think this is not worth anyone's time. For whoever sees the anime and thinks the novel should be way better it is. But the anime is utter garbage.

First of all the good stuff. So what's the good stuff? I guess that it is an isekaI which is really popular right now and that is it!

Now towards the world building. The world is not really complex and gets slightly widened as the time goes on but stays relatively easy. No complicated relations between countries... more>> or groups and only a very basic system of magic.

The MC is some ridiculously lucky bland and uninteresting guy whom gets cheat powers granted buy god and a harem thrown after him.

His body is reinforced and he can use all kinds off magic including rare magic that is mostly unique to a person with his pretty much unlimited mana. Even his language translation skill is a cheat since he hears the magic language in English which he understands while nobody else does granting him an edge in learning new magic. Not that he really uses it

While he has those powers he basically excels in nothing. A true master of the art is always better than him in their respective art but he still defeats everybody and everything with easy due to him being a legendary jack of all traits and his "unique" magic (s). He does not seem willing nor do I see him develop in the future

On several occasions he turned down offers to be taught. He helps one of his companions with training and shows admiration towards her dedication but never tries himself

. On top of that he is a good guy with no redeeming features aside from being lucky. On a side note: the smart phone is only another form of cheat.

Because this is an OP MC this should rather be funny instead of action oriented right? Not really. The start is a bit funny but as time passes it's just gets annoying. No funny puns, no funny tsukomis!

The female cast is not better. They are 1-dimensional beings whom fall for the MC for no apparent reason. The interactions seem often times forced and aside from a single characteristic they just like the MC are boring.

In the beginning of the series the MC "saves" two sisters although it is pointed out later that those two are quite capable themselves so they should not have needed his help at all against 3 city thugs

The writing style is not very good but also not bad either. Pretty basic and short sentences and therefore easy to understand. Developments are not predictable in the long run but only due to his luck/fate that he seems to run into situation after situation for which he has just the right ability bringing him in better and better positions.

After all this ranting it feels like I rated this series too high but in all honesty after a couple chapters it becomes a boring read but if you don't use your brain all the time and turn it down a bit in order to read this it is just a bland story. Nothing that will make you smash your PC on the wall <<less

I honestly have to say that this is one of the worst in the isekaI tropes. This is not due to the writing, but more the fact that the MC has been made practically perfect, from infinity to all magics, straight down to creating all luxuries for himself. And then the girls all fall in love with him,

agreeing to create a harem for him

while he is oblivious to the girl's affections.

Basically, this is a standardized trope, that kind of made me feel noxious while reading.

Its a good lighthearted series. The characters are well fleshed out and are well written. There are many cliches in the story but its meant to be like that. The author doesn't make things overly complicated or overly simple and manages to stay in between them just like how a series like this should be. Its similar to Death March to an extent, at least till now, not in a bad way too.

Its not epic or awesome in the sense but its not boring too, I thoroughly enjoyed it.... more>>

Though I understand the MC's personality. He has an OP smartphone and an OP powers and yet he easily go with the flow and is pretty passive when it comes to decision makings when it involves the girls around him. Passive being, he obviously sense what the girls wants and without any resistance he just go with the girls.

It also gives off a slice of life feeling in a different world even though his reactions aren't really realistic especially his interactions with the people who inhabited the world.

I... more>> understand that the gods are watching him for amusement and may be the reason for his good and easy interactions with people but...

Really, it just doesn't seem right to me.

I guess what I really want to say is...

Though I admit, there are some parts that shows the cool side of MC but still... He has no ambition what so ever.

I'd probably continue reading it if a person like Weed is in his circumstances. Now that would be interesting!

*Someone please do a fanfic of that please!* <<less

Slice-of-life-y story about an OP teenager in a fantasy world, after being killed by error by a God, he's given several boons to make up for the problem as he's reincarnated/sent into a fantasy world.
He's gifted with a working smartphone, which gives him access to his previous world's internet but in read-only mode, it also has a complete set of maps for his new world between other things. He's also given an OP body (and a charisma level through the roof).

Not bad, just not my cuppa.

My brain tends to check out at about the point ... more>>

the MC had to start thinking seriously about marrying his harem.

I just don't care, and I don't have enough invested in any of the side characters as anything other than accessories.

So I scroll through the romance and read the parts where he breaks common sense or duels spirit beasts with no dignity, and I enjoy those immensely.

If you are the type to find it funny when the MC accidentally walks in on his female companions changing, then spends hours in seiza listening to a lecture, this is perfect reading.

It's readable. The idea is already mainstream. MC is reincarnated to another world. Got overpowered. Got a lot of harem. Although most of them are lolis, which I really despise. I can understand men's dream of having harwm with a matured MILF. But lolis? That's pedo ya'know. Can't really understand typical Jap otakus thinking. And what REALLY annoyed me is, MC are soooo overestimated himself for being hot stuff. Like MC felt disgusted by being kissed by those Babylon managers to form a contract with a new master. What's wrong... more>> with that? Is it horrible to being kissed by another gender? And MC being a wuss when he's being reprimanded by his harem when he can almost destroy a country jus by himself. Yea sure. It's a comedy scene. But it got really bored when the scene is always being reuse everytime there's a new female character come into view. It's a readable series, but not my main cup of tea.

This novel is slow paced without overall much tension. It is kind of similar to Death March kara Hajimaru IsekaI Kyusoukyoku in this regard, but I like this one less. The MC is immature and as you keep reading, it really becomes more and more annoying. He also has kind of wimpy character with the girls. I don't like novel where MC is just getting abused or talked to one-sidedly by the girls.

Marring the girls just because they told him to is also stupid. Especially the princess who forced herself on him, then gets jealous even though he said "no" originally.

Overall the novel gets boring after the first 100 chapters. The more you read, the more boring it gets. See spoilers for why

Making establishment of a new kingdom boring must be a special gift of the author.

The reasons are 1) MC is too OP. There is never a feeling of danger or any tension. His companions are also never in danger 2) All problems are solved in a boring way. He only uses 2-3 magics, somehow he just becomes expert in martial arts even though he never trains. 3) Whatever the situation is, there is always some kind of deus ex machina ready.

To me this novel suffers greatly from immature MC and poorly done slice of life stuff. There is actually not much emotional connection to most characters there because there is not much time spent developing them. The action part also most of the time is very small. I don't like it when one battle stretches many chapters, but in this novel I don't think there are any battle that lasts even half a chapter. Basically sever lack of overall tension is a big minus here.

One of the reasons for this lack of tension is that MC is super OP. The way it is presented in the novel, this kind of OP is also boring. His character also deteriorates as the story progresses. He becomes less and less prominent and overshadowed by his harem.

There is some nice overall story here and some potential. Since there are not that many chapters yet, this novel can either improve in the future or go down the drain. I am giving it 4 stars because this story has potential, but honestly at the moment I am feeling more like 2 or 3 stars.
