MC gets reincarnated and is given the choice to bring any one item. He chooses his smartphone, which God turns into an OP smartphone. It’s a decent story, pretty average. Smart MC who isn’t a wuss, always a plus. There is a harem, he's pretty much a magnet for girls. The phone is a little too OP, but since this novel gives off more of a slice of life vibe, it doesn’t detract from the value too much.

Sadly, it's the typical "some moron got a lot of luck on his side that even if he does normal things everyone is head over heels for him".

Do not misunderstand the following criticism. The story is at least readable. This is the point of view of someone who has been reading novels for years.

There's absolutely NOTHING new or significant to the plot, characters, dialogue, description, conveyance, etc.

Generally, authors use big names like Babylon in this series, or maybe other novel examples where they use Zeus, Excalibur, World Tree, etc. in... more>> order to make a wealthy story richer. But what's done here is dress a peasant in pyrite accessories and say he's wearing gold.

I admit that after reading the first TWO DOZEN novels about a harem that revolves around a worthless guy (be it apparent or not), I started rating similar series less, but not so much to undermine the whole thing. So I gave it a shot nonetheless. But when you build your story on the basis of a plot that's like a well used worn out rag, well there you go, the plot is like a well used worn out rag. <<less

Well, it's a slice of life in another world...That's it.  The humor is nonexistent (there's satire, but no humor, there's a difference), the action is nonexistent, all the side characters have the personality of an NPC: only existing to assist the MC.  And worse yet, the MC was gifted extraordinary god-like power but only uses it to build bicycles, hot springs and electric fans, even though there's a race of demons who are capable of wiping out the human race, the unmotivated, indecisive MC just spends his time leisurely resting... more>> on his laurels.  He decides to spend his time on slice of life magic even though he should be capable enough to learn more powerful magic, all so that he can hide behind 12 year-old girls when it comes time to battle.  At least in Man Picked Up By the Gods (a similar slice of life Isekai WN) the MC is motivated, decisive and capable of protecting himself.

With such an overused concept, there needs to be some aspect that stands out in order for the story to be entertaining, but this series has none.  The satire is actually very good (I'm assuming it's satire and not just horrible writing), but the reader can't be entertained by satire alone, there has to be some other element such as comedy, action, adventure, or a unique MC.  This series falls woefully short on all counts.  If this is your first Isekai novel then it might be worth two stars, but if you're an Isekai veteran just skip this. <<less

Indeed, a light-hearted harem, typical tension-less MC. Unfortunately, this falls into the typical trap that often comes with light-hearted stories, there's basically no plot, and since this doesn't bring in anything new, the only thing going for it is admiring the side characters. I'll give it a 3 for at least not having any huge negatives, but it isn't worth reading as anything more than filler.

No real conflict or strife, bad guys are immediately recognizable and are hapless before the main character. Supporting cast is superficial and uninteresting, social and class differences are mentioned but never play into anything concrete—the main character mingles with nobles without any trouble, a fucking Earl gives lip to a Duke without any consequences, the mc essentially tries to casually kill a noble and no one cares etc.— those pesky old nobility are racist and backwards and are trying to plot the destruction of those poor beastmen because reasons while... more>> the sickly king on his deathbed is worrying about the alliance with the beastman kingdom instead of his family.

Main character is bland and uninspired; his weapons and magic have no actual flavor thus the fights are boring and short, with no room for turnabouts or climaxes.

Translation is decent enough and the writing is acceptable. <<less

Pretty self-aware for a story of this genre. Less of an escapist fantasy and more of a satire with a solid plot.

The world building isn't quite as complete as it could be, but may be expanded on in the future.

General impression: Fun.

It's one of the rare long running series that still managed to stay somewhat entertaining even to it's 400 chapters, a lot of long running series even though the beginning are interesting they're running out of gas and become boring after hundreds of chapters. Altough with the precaution of that it's not bad but it's also not groundbreaking; it stays in the line of interesting enough to read even though it's not a masterpiece.

Maybe because even though the MC is OP and his power keeps increasing, the obstacle is... more>> also increasing in proportion with the MC's growth too. The author is smart enough in rising the scale of the world in the series in keeping it somewhat interesting.

What helps keeping it interesting is it's having a rather clear goal troughout the series, compared to other WNs that lost the sense of goal along the way. For some time the MC needs to collect a series of thing, another time there's a clear set of enemy to defeat. Though it's true that it's somewhat simplistic but it's reassuring that the MC have somekind of purpose to achieve.

From half point from the series there's a minor genre shift into something else, but it's a good thing. For those who are curious about the genre shift:

it's introducing mecha elements in the series to defeat new kind of enemies

The low raters clearly do not understand what "light-hearted" and "slice of life" means.

If you can't be bothered to read my short review please do check the recommendations to know if you wanna read the novel or not.

Anyway, on to my 'review':

The novel has a 2 (possibly 3) plots though it takes over 100 chapters to get a glimpse of them. There's little (or most of the time) no action due to the world having an almost peaceful era. The adventurer days were done in a couple of chapters because... more>> it was done in a single country and there are other countries to "explore" which is an important part for the plot.

This review isn't made to encourage you to read this novel but rather a "rating" that can be used for those looking for a light-hearted slice of life story. <<less

"Inexplicable Deus ex Machina!" If you're like me this description should immediately send you running. I didn't read much of this and it's not entirely bad. The problem was, at a certain point in the story there was a laughable instance of "power development." After using his OP cheat in a few different ways a few different times he finally got the idea to cast a spell using the smartphone GPS to target enemies.

That's right. His smartphone inexplicably tracks enemies, can pinpoint their locations, and can be used as the... more>> focus of his spells. Previously, he had done nothing like this. No inkling of a hint given or possible explanation occurred beforehand pointing to this potential usage of his power. The author simply had a thought (I'm sure after nights of brainstorming on how a smartphone could be used in a fantasy setting) and decided that in particular was a good way to use his power and so it appeared in the story: suddenly, inexplicably, and unexplained. I dropped it on that chapter and I'm not willing to find which one it was.

That aside, I do recall that overall the writing was okay and the story was pretty generic. <<less

Though I understand the MC's personality. He has an OP smartphone and an OP powers and yet he easily go with the flow and is pretty passive when it comes to decision makings when it involves the girls around him. Passive being, he obviously sense what the girls wants and without any resistance he just go with the girls .

It also gives off a slice of life feeling in a different world even though his reactions aren't really realistic especially his interactions with the people who inhabited the... more>> world.

I understand that the gods are watching him for amusement and may be the reason for his good and easy interactions with people but...

Really, it just doesn't seem right to me.

I guess what I really want to say is...

Though I admit, there are some parts that shows the cool side of MC but still... He has no ambition what so ever.

I'd probably continue reading it if a person like Weed is in his circumstances. Now that would be interesting!

*Someone please do a fanfic of that please!* <<less

Slice-of-life-y story about an OP teenager in a fantasy world, after being killed by error by a God, he's given several boons to make up for the problem as he's reincarnated/sent into a fantasy world.
He's gifted with a working smartphone, which gives him access to his previous world's internet but in read-only mode, it also has a complete set of maps for his new world between other things. He's also given an OP body (and a charisma level through the roof).

Its a good lighthearted series. The characters are well fleshed out and are well written. There are many cliches in the story but its meant to be like that. The author doesn't make things overly complicated or overly simple and manages to stay in between them just like how a series like this should be. Its similar to Death March to an extent, at least till now, not in a bad way too.

Its not epic or awesome in the sense but its not boring too, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Like many novels of this full cliché, but who said that the cliche is that bad? Even a bunch of clichés can look interesting and harmonically perfect balance with each other. And in this novel in a mixture of stories about the adventures of a harem and it looks pretty good: swords, magic, srednevikove and adventurous spirit is present, along with politics and humor. A sort of daily adventure interspersed with romance and bottles. The narrative of the author is not boring, but at the same time nothing special is... more>> the audience. Hero is common, it has modernize smartphone and it is not a particularly strong, not stupid. Harem replenishes randomly and wantonly. And the story and its characters live everyday, almost carefree life. Readability, even bored much interest does not disappear, do not spoil the mood, leaves the reader in good shape, there are also good battle. Hence assessment of novel. 3.6 Star. 1 star behind the story, 1 of the characters, 1 for humor and romance and 6 tenths of a mixture of science (bellows) and magic. <<less

This series is pretty enjoyable. Though it's a bit annoying how he gets pushed around by the females around him but he's a good guy who's also smart enough to not get them killed. He's pretty strong but there are still some enemies he has difficulties killing.

It's a pretty good series where he recreates the things from his modern world with the help of his abilities and his handy dandy smartphone and also manages a business later on. ... more>>

Also a kingdom. He might also be a half god now because of his body's components.

I can't say it's outstanding but if you don't mind the occasional being-pushed-around-by-women scenario and want a light hearted series that's not only funny but also have enough seriousness to follow a plot at the side, then this is a good enough read for that.

EDIT: Latest arc (Arc 21: Women's battle) sorta made me want to drop this. The romance isn't really well-written.

Touya is too whipped he's letting his own future wives push women he's not initially interested in to him for marriage and he complains but doesn't really strongly says no. He gets beat up when the girls themselves ask for a kiss from him because of embarrassment. The relationship dynamics is sh*t.

The main selling point of the novel as I see is how the MC makes everyone around him dumbfounded. Expecting what technology he'll introduces next, how he'll develop his skills, weapons etc, and how he'll handle his companions was entertaining for leisure reading.

Downside, side characters are a bit 2D while he himself looks like didn't think too much and cared about his surroundings. Plot starts at 70 +chapter.

I detest Harems and Polygamy relationships but this one is a must read.

-Everything is well written

-The ideas the author comes up with are simple but brilliant

... more>> -The author really knows how to smooth things over.

The thing that I hate the most is. The Author has to choose “Action” or “Comedy”. You can’t do both. Its very predictable and its easy to tell that the Mc will always win. There’s hardly a challenge. Its because there’s no exact Genre to lean forward too, there’s no plot or character development.

The Author is just simply hilarious and I can’t stop laughing at the things the Mc goes through. The Characters he comes up with are also good.

Honestly this story could be so much better. And it has mad potential. But it feels somewhat wasted like this. He could definitely write a story better then this! So why?!

I enjoy the author enough to be curious of when he creates a new series. I’d definitely like to read it. <<less

For me who like to read leisurely without too much tension, this one is quite good.

My biggest problem would be the character list... The story goes a bit fast, and each female character have only a few chapter to express themselves correctly... (I only (kinda) remembre Lindsey, Elsie, Yae, Rin and Yumina and i have to look at the illustration to remember...(by the way i remember most character of most of the novel i read so i don't know why this happen with this novel...)) So beside their role,... more>> i have forgotten most of their name, and have to tryhard remembering each time one is mentionned... <<less
