SGH is a multiplayer online tactical competitive shooting game.

When Wen Xi first came into contact with the game, like most people, he used a gun as his main weapon.

But his shooting skills were too poor, often having teammates vent about whether he was the master of outlining the human body.

Until one day, he picked up a bow.

Since then, SGH has had another archer assassin named “Wency”.

It’s said that his arrows never miss their shot, a hundred shots and a hundred hits, killing with one blow.

It’s said that only the first ranked sharpshooter “Mac” succeeded in killing him.

It’s said that he likes “Mac”.

Wen Xi: …where did this rumor come from? Mac, come out and clarify!

Mo Chen: En, it’s a rumor. Actually, I like you.

A shou who wholeheartedly wants to make money through livestreaming vs. A gong who wholeheartedly wants to trick the shou into joining his team.

I never thought I’d say this about a gaming novel, but I got tired of reading about the game

There was almost no interaction between the couple except in game, and since the game was a First Person Shooter (FPS) there were no personal interactions between the MC and ML during the game descriptions because FPS are kill or be killed, no time for talk beyond targeting

In the author’s notes she indicated she was tired of the novel and it shows because the quality of the writing fell after that note

This... more>> novel wasn’t for me, but if you are looking for a drama free read about Over Powered (OP) professional gamers this may be the perfect novel for you <<less

4.5 - fav esports bl after FOG - but second half kinda rushed. Falls a bit flat at the end. Also slightly annoyed by how all the female casters were portrayed as tho they weren't as knowledgeable about the game because, well, they're female

As my rating indicates, it's an 'ok' novel. If you don't know what to read and want something easy, without ups and downs, this is it.

Also, I don't think it has many 'cute' moments, even though the author tries to sell them, it didn't give the butterfly vibe, and it seems meaningless. Comparing to other esports novels like 'PUBG', 'I can do it' and even 'You guys play really well', the amount of fluffly is lacking.

With that said, we need to consider sports content. MC is a God player from... more>> another game (previously ranked #1, although few people seem to know who he is), who has just joined a new SGH game. In 2 months he is able to play professionally (really?) and become almost invincible.

Negative marks:

  1. At the beginning of his professional career, MC sounds like a completely adjusted God and better than everyone else. But later in the novel, when he's already on the scene as the top 2 best player, the author looks back at his beginnings as if he was a noob who was carried by his teammates even though it was nothing you could understand when you read. So, it's like the MC hasn't grown up, even though the author is trying to sell it.
  2. How the author describes the games. Victories are vaguely written, and defeats... not written at all, and you only get mentions about it. What does it create? A poor sense of victory when your team wins, as you always win, and your losses have no impact, every victory is meaningless: you know they're going to win, so it's not a surprise.
  3. Lastly, as things are rushed towards the end of the novel, not even bothering to describe full snippets of the competition and just saying "the result is obvious".
  4. How women were described. First, not many women, maybe 5? counting the mothers of the MC and ML. But that's okay, esports is a male-dominated field, so even that is understandable. But the issue is between the top 3 women: 1 is an anchor who is said to have skills but doesn't show any skills, the other is a live stream manager who is also said to have in-game skills but her only job in the story is to dress and make up MC, and the last and most annoying is the PROFESSIONAL COMMENTATOR who basically knows nothing about the game, and just works like a noob who needs her male commentator partner to explain everything to her during games. Yep, she just makes vague talk and biased comments, even though she and the guy are the only professional commentator duo on the SGH game. No comments.
In conclusion, it's a good read if you don't want to think, or feel pressured, but in the end you won't get much. <<less

This story is for someone that mainly likes reading fluff and doesn't want to deal with any drama.

Unfortunately, it's not the best written story as it feels repetitive and doesn't quite know what kind of story it wants to be.

Spoiler

MC starts off as a streamer but this part of the story pretty much gets forgotten except for minor mentions of it near the end of the story. The pacing for different "arcs" in the story isn't the best either and there's no real challenge for MC and ML, which could be a good or bad thing depending what you want out of the story.

[collapse]

You can probably read the beginning, skip most of the middle and read the end. With that said, I like the "chill" vibes in the story and enjoyed myself overall so that's why I'm giving it a 4. <<less

Honestly surprised by some of the reviews for this one, so I decided to drop one of my own. This is not a complicated, plot-heavy story. There's not even that much conflict. It's still an enjoyable, cute read if you need something low-key and funny to chew away a bit of time with.

It's definitely more focused on the relationship between the MC and the ML for the first half, and then the second half is more focused on the eSports aspect. This makes sense in the context of the story,... more>> as the eSports-centric bits take place during competitions after the main couple have already gotten together. There are dropped plot threads that it would have been nice to see more of, but said threads do still get mentioned afterwards, they just aren't the focus again.

I actually found the pacing of the second half preferable, which seems to be an uncommon opinion; the first half rushed to get the main CP together, and the MC's timeline from "new to the game" to "professional player" is very short and requires some suspension of disbelief. Otherwise, the eSports aspect is actually pretty comparable to real life Tier 2 or Tier 3 eSports, which was nice for me as someone who watches them. Some of the more "unrealistic" plot threads are things I've seen happen in Tier 2, which made the story more entertaining.

Overall, if you want a relaxing read with some good humor, lots of dogfood, and low-tension eSports bits, this is a good time sink. <<less

The story starts off weak, gains a bit of momentum in the middle, and then dies off in the end.

I guess my biggest issue with this novel is how weak the MC is, not in terms of strength, but as a main character. There isn't really anything interesting about him. My guess is that he's supposed to be really cute? Since that's what the author keeps saying, but he comes off as more boring to me.

The ML was not much better. He had some potential there at the beginning, showing... more>> signs of not being your tropical cookie cutter ML, but that died incredibly fast.

If it's fluff you want, though, this fic does have a lot of it, but most of that is pretty repetitive.

The best part of the novel were the game bits.

All in all, it was an ok read. Ok for passing the time of you really have absolutely nothing else to read. <<less

Overall Rating: 4.1

The plot is fluffy, comedic and light with some angst sprinkled in. Plenty of dogfood even before they're dating even their teammates are complaining lmao. There are also character growth and the slow burn of MC's and Ml's journey towards love. Like most of gaming novels this one is also filled with gaming scenes.

The romance in this novel is quite cute, though if you're expecting good gameplay, you should probably skip this. Half of the novel is the ML and MC being OP at the game, and its... more>> romance with only a little bit of gameplay. The romance is quite cute, though a bit fast, and how they protect each other on the battlefield is fluffy.

The 2nd half I thought it was rather anticlimactic and although I actually like gaming novels, I thought this story (2nd half) focused too much on the game and it lacked the interaction between the MCs. <<less

First half was pretty good. But it got draggy from then. Author lost the flow of the novel, what should have (I feel) been expanded more was summarized and what should have been shortened was detailed. Still cant beat "I Can Do It" and "PUBG".

Only saving grace was because of Chrysanthemum Garden. Their translation is by far one of the best!

Sweet, fluffy, funny and cute. I enjoyed it alot! It's light-hearted and fun, although the world building isn't as complex or deep, if you know nothing about e-sports you can still enjoy the romance

The humor is really on-point, honestly I had such a good time in the beginning chapters reading the interactions between anchors, audience and momo. It's sweet and hilarious, the ambiguous relationship between the MC and ML is quite nice and not angsty at all. Just a sweet smell of 'something' happening between them, and ALOT of flirting!!

I... more>> thoroughly enjoyed the romance. But part of why I gave it a 4/5 stars is because the world is a little lacking. Not just because the original cast of characters seems almost disposable or thrown aside, forgotten about and not explored. But also I think everything feels very shallow somehow, like the gameplay aspect. There's not a lot of challenges, the opponents seems 'strong' but still gets crushed, none of the strategies are super complex or clearly demonstrates 'why' we should be in awe. The casts are a little one-dimensional once they're not involved in some romance of their own, or even if they're interesting at the beginning - they soon fade/become unexplored so it became useless?? Even the CP themselves begin to feel more one-dimensional once the focus shifts onto the progressing the plot in the latter stages. One of the earliest signs of this is the descriptions of the MC as 'cute' is said, rather than shown. So parts of it feels like it's told, rather than shown, and is a little weak in terms of story-telling technique.

But I think it's mostly also to do with how it relies on you knowing the game first and knowing how hard it is to play well that truly makes what the author's explaining seems admirable (does that make sense?) If you've played the game and is kinda noob you'd know how easy it is to wipe so hard in-game. Thus, even just playing 'well' like in the novel would seem like you're doing pretty great. And thus, some of the maneuvers and 'godly' aspects -- if you've never played the game before irl, the 'awe' you'd feel becomes 50% less because of the lack of experience. I hope this makes sense?

Anyways I enjoyed it alot!! The romance is very tooth-acheing. I came for the sugar and I definitely got fed into a sugar-high. Just enjoy a light-hearted funny e-sports novel that's well-translated. Thank you so much!!! <<less

Pros :

The MC with bby face and older than ML. What I like is how both MC and ML change for the better even after their relationship. I like how the ML isn't the perfect cold gong type.

The side characters is full of life. They aren't merely there in order for the MC and ML relationship to solidify. They have their own struggles and goals. The side cps are also cute.

Cons :

It's kinda a light read. The ending isn't mind blowing or anything but still an enjoyable read.

I started reading this when Chrysanthemum Garden picked it up for translation. I enjoyed it from the start and, each week, I could hardly wait for an update! In the book world, time moved real fast, though reality-wise, it took a while for the pace to pick up.

At some point, I decided to MTL the remaining chapters and it was no longer hard to follow since I had an idea of the characters and terminology.

I guess I'm just a tad bit disappointed that when ... more>>

Wen Xi became a pro player, his interactions with his stream, Blue Wolf, Love Pig, and Ruby took a back seat. Also, the ending of the novel seemed a bit rushed.

Overall, there was a balance between the gaming aspect of the storyline and relationship between MC/ML. Despite my disappointment with how the novel ended (it's a HE), I would still give it 5 stars because of the entertainment it brought me at the start of the novel. <<less

When you are down and need something to cheer you up, reading this will surely help you. I for one kept on catching myself grinning or smiling to myself while reading this novel.

All the characters are 3D and likeable. There are no real so called antagonists so the story is pretty much smooth sailing. The same is true for the relationship progression between the MC and ML. Even before they got together they constantly fed everyone dog food.

So if you are on the lookout for a feel-good BL novel, search... more>> no more. You have found it. <<less

absolutely the cutest story i've read in a while. MC is OP in the game and softer in reality. While I'm usually not very into weak MCs, his is like a veneer that covers up a black-bellied and strong core. I'm down for that. Plus the ML here is actually so adorable. So much dog food, anyone looking for a sweet romance will not be disappointed. I also enjoyed all of the side CPs and other characters in the game, and all the face smacking. Recommended.
