Lu Yu from the slums was suddenly told that he was actually the youngest son of the wealthy Lu family in Yanjing. Orphaned since he was a child, he longed for a family and returned to Lu’s family full of expectations.

This was a real mountain of pain to climb. When you start at the base it's not so bad but you can see there will be pain as you go further in.

You get two common Chinese web novel themes in the beginning, swapped children, and vampire relatives sucking blood from an orphan. Done well they are great, done poorly they are up there with root canal. These were done incredibly poorly. What's worse the author decides to mix in at least three world settings, there may have been more that... more>> I missed another plot theme down the line and lots of similarly named characters. It was so bad the Chinese readers were complaining.

Anyway some spoilers that read far better than the novel'

First switched at birth my observations and Chinese reader's reactions.

Starts reasonably well, I suspect the author was cribbing from another work, but falls off a cliff fast. We first learn the nominal MC died before the book started, and is now possessed by a haunted house, after being driven to death by the adopted replacement. OK that's a bit of a different take.

1st Problem, we find out the haunted house has near god like power and can force people into doing things they otherwise wouldn't and can easily kill anyone that comes up against. This pretty much kills the fun of the face slapping

Next Problem, The family hates their blood relation they just brought back because he had to live as a beggar and they don't want him around because of this. Raises the question, they didn't know he was living as a beggar before they brought him back??

The nominal MC is as mentioned earlier already dead and entered into a pact with the haunted house for revenge. The problem is it doesn't happen. The face slaps don't land. The few who do get punished have uninteresting comeuppances. The people you want to know what happens to them you don't get to find out. The mother just sort of disappears, the father has a really badly done winds up in jail chapter, The older bio brother just sort of wanders around going "What did I do", the fake is absolutely ridiculous and winds up going down with the insane 3rd plot thread.

The biggest problem about all the above was you stop caring about 5% in as the chapters grow longer and longer and less interesting.

The Nominal ML is the victim of his uncle's schemes to rob the family power and property. If you have read any of these you have read the one here. Absolutely nothing new or interesting here with nothing to differentiate it. Except for one thing. He has been world traveling and is now Superman level invulnerable and Spiderman strong. He also has supernatural assistants that can drive people insane.

He doesn't actually use them for much except for pointless gratuitous torture, .

Well there it is. You have a power couple that have everything they need to resolve the story on page 1 but don't bother to.

If they can't care why should you?

Update: I saw a review attributing the dislike of this novel to dislike of BL. It's hard to process that, because there just wasn't very much in the novel. If you are looking for that other novels would work better. <<less

I'm not very good at writing reviews but i'll give it a go! This story was so fun, a mix of revenge, regret, government plots and love (even if it was at times somewhat cliche). What I like especially is the MC and ML who are both OP - its not over exaggerated but they definitely don't need help with anything- as their relationship is a something like slowly then all at once in a way? At first they are in a mutual agreement to get away from both families... more>> and they also recognise something haunted within each other and then it becomes something real.

The face-slapping and other plots are good theyre not outstanding but they're enjoyable

The characters are cool as well, the entertainment plot type characters are really fun to read and the conversation is real and like real people with emotion who grieve, celebrate etc

Overall an enjoyable book! It has a lot of concepts but I think it works as its not jammed together ! The translator is doing great too <<less

This story seems to be yet another victim of malicious bl hating readers who give a bad rating specially to bl stories without reading them. As of now, the story has 2 translated chapters and a rating of 3.5 stars. I've only read like 1/3rd of the story, but I absolutely loved the portion I read. Although the MTL isn't that bad, I've realised that to fully enjoy this story, I'll need to wait for the translations.

So far, it has some cliches, but I expected that. I love the fact... more>> that I can read all my favourite tropes and cliches in the same place. Better is the fact that the cliches are not mushed and mish mashed together in a Frankensteinesque manner, as is the norm with stories that use too many cliches. It's actually well written (and well thought out). I'm not that deep into the story that I'd be confident in my judgement, but at no point have I thought of giving dropping this story even while reading the brain churning MTLs that google translate gave me.

The MC and ML seem to have a very cute relationship. They are a power couple right from the beginning. It's not something as cheesy as love at first sight, it's just two people working together to screw over their hateful relatives and learning to love, trust, and respect each other at the same time.

I don't quite understand the author's obsession with having perfect, overly pale, beautiful protagonists with "long, slender legs" and "skin that looks transparent and glowing under the sun", but the description sounds pretty so I'm not complaining. The MC is very powerful and so is the ML. ML is using a wheelchair

Ik I'm merely at the beginning of the story, but it's got a great start and the romance suits my tastes (it's fluffy!)

So far, I haven't really encountered an actual villain that could threaten MC and ML, though I did see the inklings of one who cameoed with the

I'll edit the review once I get around to reading the entire thing (hopefully after it's translated completely). Five stars for now, but it might change in the future.

The current translator (bad dreams) is doing a pretty good job, so kudos to that <<less

The story was good. The characters were interesting and MC and ML had their emotional growth displayed clearly. Their background stories are explained so you can guess most of the I side story, so there isn't any reason to deeply write about it.

The twists and turns got smoothly written, although the villains reason and methods were not gore or violent it was reasonable.

The characters were memorable however the novel is not a re-read material.

I would still read the translated version if it appeared. I'm also interested why MC lost his... more>> human form when he first materialised.... <<less

It's not a re-reading material. I feel bored in the middle and thought of dropping. MC and ML were extremely op. MC is a haunted house spirit living for thousands of years while ML is the winner of another unknown world, after slipping into coma. The story is has three types of species --- 1. Human

2. Supernatural beings

3. Aliens👽
