Handsome, talented, mysterious, seemingly flirtatious but extremely caring and attentive, not to mention, he holds deep affection for Yuder in both lives? Now that certainly is perfect ML material.

Yuder is strong, powerful and cold, but he's not without flaws or weaknesses. So Kishiar is a perfect match for him, and together, they fit like pieces of the same puzzle. As others also said, Turning is all about world-building, actions, and apart from the BL romance, it also emphasizes character growth and camaraderie. Romance wasn't the main focus at first, but we can still see the changes in their relationship gradually and steadily. Perhaps Turning won't be a good choice if you're seeking quick romance, but if you are fine with a fantasy-themed novel with a lot of other aspects (politics, power struggle, knighthood, power training and developing) explored, Turning is a perfect novel.... Although I do suggest stacking a bit before reading, since the novel is extremely long with no ending in sight as of now. <<less

My expectations were low due to the tropes used, but I enjoyed the quietly devastated tone of the beginning and the sense that the MC is struggling with mysteries. The web novel's strength is that despite the inclusion of many tropes that usually play out in boring ways, the story treats those tropes intelligently as context for the misunderstandings that the MC had in his previous life.

The MC seems cold-blooded initially, but he shows himself to be nothing like that once given a chance for a better fate. MC wanted a better possible outcome for many things, but he lacked the benefit of hindsight and experience (and isn't that relatable) !

When MC meets ML again, MC does not want a relationship with ML, but supporting ML helps MC to bring about a better fate for the world. As MC gains different experiences, he gains a different perspective on his worst experiences with ML. I liked witnessing the evolution of MC's perspective of ML, initially as a confusing and traumatizing leader to the MC's past naive self, to a character that MC is willing to support at a distance, to a person whom he realizes deserves so much more than a misinformed perspective that everyone, not just MC, had about ML. I like how the pace of MC's discovery is not rushed. Due to what the MC experienced with ML in the past, it makes sense that MC is doing the opposite of running into a close relationship with ML.

In a simpler yet poorly told story, the resolution of past tragedies would focus just on blaming who did wrong in the past and fixing that. There's less need to discover complex matters and more of a quest to complete an artificially imposed series of tasks. However, from the start, the MC in Turning intentionally tackles his open-ended questions about the past because he recognizes how his past knowledge is limited to the resources or relationships he had before. I think this made MC's journey more relatable and realistic. I didn't even go into world-building or the discovery of the powers and abilities of people or other characters in the world, but I enjoyed those as well.

Most of all, this story made me care about people trying to bring about a better fate for the world while gaining insights into the past. I cheer for Yuder so that he can attain what he could have never imagined possible.

I'm on chapter 1035. For this web novel alone, I have figured out how to obtain a Ridibooks account despite the difficulty with language. I have also begun re-reading the web novel as I am waiting for new chapters.

Kuyu is great at building up casual mentions of things until there is an emotionally powerful payoff. I am so happy that my payments can support the web novel author and the manhwa team. I'm so glad I encountered this story and these characters, and I'm on this train until it ends.

I'm on chapter 1039 at Ridibooks, using translation tools. Even at chapters 1000+, I experience such emotional ups and downs due to my emotional (and now financial!) investment in a story I love and characters I cherish as I witness their unique journeys of growth. As I re-read, I started to highlight where the author foreshadowed future events or alluded to past events, because there is so much to observe just by looking at that. I am hopeful this story can conclude well and wrap up with appropriate dramatic tension what I am wondering about. It's a breath of fresh air probably for us who rarely have 1000+ chapters of bl not filled with s*upid villains, face slap, unnecessary misunderstanding, and repeated formula over and over again.

For people who have read a lot of masterpiece of action/fantasy like Omniscient Reader, Lord of Mysteries, Lout of the Count Family, or just good fantasy in general, this level plot is probably a bit low in quality.

• If you only come for BL, it's slow-burn with more plot than usual BL
• If you only come for plot, it's not the finest fantasy/action

Love it!! If you can handle slowburn and a protagonist with low EQ (and omegaverse), give it a try! :D Although the MC at first doesn't seem to even recognize his emotions, over time he improves little by little, and that doesn't prevent him from taking the initiative in the relationship.

Anyway on to the actual review. So the story is basically a mysterius red stone appeared and gave people strange, special powers and Yuder was the Comander who was accused of treason, killing the ml, etc. He was killed and went back to his time when he was still a commoner, 2-3 years after the red stone incident. He resolves to make a better future with his knowledge and prevent a global disaster.

The story is pretty slow burn with the plot and worldbuilding at the forefront while the romance is REALLY slow burn like where im at they only got that tiny tiny spark that creates a burning fire and I love it!!

I can see a few people reading it and thinking that its a cliche and I admit it has elements that make it the typical 'MC transmigrates and saves the world using his knowledge' typa novel but man the plot and character interactions just keep me at my feet and I WANT MORE DAMMIT (ಥ﹏ಥ)

I read the webtoon adaptation first, then I saw many commenters said that this is a slow burn but very worth the wait, so I checked out the webnovel version.

Truly the best BL webnovel I've read so far. I was deterred when I saw it's more than 1000 chapters and still ongoing, but it is very well written. It's indeed slow-burn, but the subtle acts will keep you going. And when it finally burns, it burns.

The characters are lovable. Yes Yuder has prior knowledge and experience since he came back... more>> from future, but he also still analyzes based on the real facts and take decision from there. He have encountered some people who did him bad in the past, but he didn't blindly judge them as his enemy. He also noticed that what he remembered might be not complete, thus he would always think and take action logically.

The author does a great job at showing, not explaining. I can feel not only Yuder, but Kishiar is also very smart and cunning. The author also showed although both are very skilled and clever, their stream of thought and action are different. They might reach to same conclusion, but from different starting point.

One of my favorite things about Turning is also there are a lot of "real" problems they need to solve, so they settle feelings issues quickly. Kishiar and Yuder understood their feelings, emotions, and desire, so we readers are spared from ridiculous mountain of chapters of our couple fight over some misunderstanding, or pondering if they should go out or not. Kishiar is your typical nobleman with eloquent tongue. I've to admit some of his lines still brought goosebumps, but they were sincere, so those still felt sweet.

Yuder and Kishiar are indeed very strong, but they are still evolving as the story goes; which make this story even more interesting.

My first review so here goes nothing...

This is the first novel I've ever kept up with while it's updating. The plot is so immersive and let's you understand all the situations perfectly and one that handles politics well. Being the kind of person who never dwells on novels longtime, this one has stuck with me for months. The fact that it has excellent plot AND excellent romance?!

ML is the greenest of green flags. The kind of guy that would make you giggle because of how sweet he is. His status... more>> is handled well, it's not just there for name and this is one of the few novels where we actually get a sense of an aristocratic society during such scenes.

MC is so cool, like you can't stop fangirling over everything little thing he does. He's OP but just the right amount where it doesn't become boring because there's valid reasons and of course situations around his powers. Also kind of like a tsundere who cares a lot but doesn't show much.

The BEST thing about this novel in my opinion is the chemistry of the main characters. Like it's there from the very beginning and just builds up over time. Every interactions between them even before they actually get involved with each other still gives me the same butterflies. The RESPECT they have for each other, never crossing boundaries. I could go on all day about how much I love those two :') The trust they have for each other is everything

Another thing and stuck out is the well-done usage of the omegaverse troupe. It's treated as a normal condition, without embarrassing or forceful moments. It's rather in the background and doesn't interfere with the plot but when it's mentioned, it's always handles well. For example- unlike most omegaverse stories, people actually express concern over the pain they experience than any s*xual connections to it. It's not treated as a convenient plot device for moving the relationship further

One of the best parts is definitely the Cavalry itself and the relationship between Yuder and other members is so wholesome. Kinda like a found family troupe. The way they admire both their Commander and Yuder. The way Yuder's past life is slowly unravelled through flashbacks which leaves more questions than answers is beautifully executed. That strong feeling of 'The One that Got Away' in every past life interaction between the main characters.

I feel like I'm writing too much, um the world-building is fantastic, the different factions, their reasonings and motivations. Each character is really fleshed out.

There occassionally a switch in POVs too which gives us an interesting perspective on all the characters

overall, it's just an amazing story and definitely one of the things I look forward to the most when waking up. <<less

The chemistry between the MC, Yuder, and the ML, Kishiar is so AMAZING, I physically scream at how adorable they are! Every interaction between the two is always so endearing and loving!! Both deeply care for the other & complement each other well! I cannot urge enough that this novel is an absolute must read. ML IS SUCH A GREEN FLAG, HE'S AN ENTIRE FOREST. Kishiar is such a fresh breath of air in the world of ML's, he COMMUNICATES, IS CARING, ATTENTIVE, PATIENT, TALENTED, STRONG, HANDSOME, and I CAN GO ON AND ON UNTIL THE MANWHA FOR THE NOVEL IS FINISHED.

THE MC, YUDER IS INCREDIBLE. I LOVE HIM SM, HE'S SMART, RATIONAL, POWERFUL, UNFORGIVING, AND OVERALL HE'S JUST A BADASS. Yuder might seem cold and heartless but to those close to him we see he has a subtle affectionate and caring side of him!! He has trouble identifying and regonizing his emotions but this doesn't prevent him from taking the initiative in his relationship with the ML and reciprocating the affection given to him! the novel not being more popular is gut wrenching and I really do hope it attracts a larger audience, I've seen folk drop the novel because of the "ML being a "womanizer" and the A/B/O elements in the story. KISHIAR IS NOT A WOMANIZER‼️‼️‼️ Although I can't say much about people's preferences about A/B/O I do think the way the author uses it in the novel is well done and enhances the story greatly. I also think the author focuses on other aspects of the story more than just the romance, but when they happen they're unforgettable and great! Feeds you until the next time :D There are steamy moments but it's a slowburn for a reason, so expect to wait for it! Generally I don't think this novel would be for you if you're looking for a quick developing relationship or immediate smut. In my heart the novel is perfect, 10s across the board, but I know it's not the best of the best and won't live up to everyone's expectations. Still I believe it's worth a read, even if the genre or story doesn't fully align with your taste!
