While wondering why, before she knew it, she was waking up in the body of that very same female lead!
Wait, did that mean the handsome husband from the book was hers now? Chu Lian decided to welcome him with open arms!
However, what she got wasn’t the kind husband she had been expecting. Instead, his personality seemed to have been completely flipped! He left her all alone on their wedding night… and just five days into their marriage, her dear husband abandoned his loving wife and left to enlist in the army!
Fine! Be that way! She could pass her days perfectly well somehow, even if she had to do it alone!
Chu Lian put her household in order, charmed the rest of her new family, and did a little business on the side. She even opened up some new trade routes! Her days passed peacefully and leisurely… Until her dear husband got into trouble at the frontline of the war.
Hmph, isn’t he crawling back to me for help in the end? Forget it, I’ll go save him myself!

First of all I cannot find a single reason as of why our FL should like the ML unless she is a masochist with no self-respect starved for attention but... that is not the case, or at least should not be considering the first 200 chapters.
She basically loves him because the author wanted that to happen. She does a 180 as soon as she falls in love and becomes incredibly boring and useless, completely denying what we are supposed to believe she is as a character and as a transmigrated modern woman. The relationship between the two of them lacks balance, their first night was way too long and horrendous to read (she wants none of that but acts meek and lets him do whatever he wants) and after that she becomes his possession, never complaining about him abusing her while caring about him more and more. The ML is incredibly disgusting btw, the most memorable moment is when he almost r****s her when she's unconscious after spending the night outside in the middle of winter and almost freezing to death. Besides that she has no personal space and he touches her everywhere even in public leading to her "blushing". (???) The two of them have only once instance of development as a couple, he has some insecurietes but most of their time togheter is spent in bed where he "tortures" her, it's boring and annoying after a while seeing her loving him while he acts like she's an obect. Disregarding the romantic aspect of the story, the ending is also atrocious and rushed, most characters are dealt with a single sentence ("X marries Y and they live happily after that"). Do yourself a favour and don't read this.
- The main couple's romance is adorable! From the start, the male and female leads have some pretty serious misunderstandings, but they're handled in a cute way. The ML is supposed to be the 'aggressor' but acts more like an angry puppy, while the FL is chill and mature. Since they're both going through their second life together, they're practically in the same boat, and hopefully they'll come to truly understand each other by the end. (I mean, does it bother anyone else when the MC hides their 'secret' all their life, even from their partner? :/)
- As the title would suggest, there's emphasis on both leads, as you get to see from each of their perspectives. It's actually very interesting to hear the ML's thoughts and get to know his personality, because behind his cold exterior is a tsun-
I mean, a warm heart.
- The plot line is constantly engaging, full of awesome and fun moments. The FL's cool personality lets her stand above the usual politics and face-slapping, which IMO is getting a tad too repetitive in this genre. Although you still get a fair share of that here, it's mostly light-hearted and by far not the most interesting thing this novel has to offer. However, seeing how some other reviewers had problems with the story, so I recommend reading a few chapters to see if it's your cup of tea. (It's not because I'm trying to get you hooked on this novel like I am, okay? ;D) There's also a few pleasant surprises: I didn't think of myself as a foodie, but I've been hugely entertained by people scrambling for good food while drooling over the food myself...
- The writing is excellent; side characters are usually diverse and well-developed so they don't feel like a waste of words. The TL does a top-notch job of translating, plus the reading community makes this novel more fun to follow.
I admit, this novel has one weakness: there'll be nonsensical, cannon fodder characters that pop out once in a while, but if they bother you then you should just skip... more>>So you should come and join us already, huehuehue...- The story is entertaining, I think the author achieved a proper use of the transmigrator trope without the protagonist becoming too much of a Mary Sue.
- The protagonist Chu Lian has a set personality from the beginning based on the more modern place where she comes from, and she remains true to her character.
- I really liked the way the author made use of her love for food and extensive repertoire of recipes and her designer career to produce money instead of having her be ridiculously knowledgeable in science, engineering and stuff. She might still be OP, but I've read a lot worse. In Chu Lian's case, you can still argue she was really talented before transmigration.
- It has charming characters and some not so much although not many have much development.
- The ending is rushed. By all means, this is a good thing because I desperately did not want to keep reading. Why? Let's talk about... The bad:
- The male lead! He is disgusting as a character. Zero personality, incredibly s*upid although the author tries to make him appealing and smart at times but damn.I'm sorry to say this, but I feel the author has some real masochist tendencies because the ML treats our protagonist like tr*sh for most of the novel
and she ends up in love with him?
Some may argue that due to his past life he has his reasons and yes I agree, get him his revenge but not the girl, it just doesn't make sense unless the protagonist Chu Lian suffers from zero self-esteem.
- As some others have mentioned all interactions between the FL and ML are recommended to be skipped. They are incredibly annoying, specially the second half of the novel
with the guy just being h**ny on every interaction between them and
- It is really sad when the ML is more dislikeable than the villain, even if Xiao Bojian is tr*sh He Sanlang still sickens me more. And no, I am not saying the bad guy is better of course not, he is even more crazy and obsessive, but since he appears less often there aren't enough opportunities to accumulate the hate. At long last would I recommend this novel?
Definitely but under certain conditions:
- If you somehow enjoy a story where the FL is supposed to be strong and independent but still likes the abusive, possessive and even crazy ML then be my guest.
- If you do not then just skip every interaction between the couple after the 100th chapter and you are good to go, the story is still good enough to read.
ML is reborn

- (not included in my rating for this novel) : superb translation and reader friendly website (Translator even did a lot of research and posted pictures and links, especially to show the "food p*rn")
Bad Points:the tag "Multiple Reincarnated Individuals"
Especially in the last half of the novel, in the spring hunt: ML more or less willingly holds injured Princess in his arms (Princess is in love with him) and later sees (with Princess still in his arms) how FL is being rescued by crazy second ML, when she was falling from her horse. ML ignores her then and keeps the injured princess company, while FL is seeing all this but doesn't get an explanation from him. I really abhor such annoying dumb drama. So it is fine that ML can carry a Princess who is in love with him, but FL who didn't even had a choice when falling from her horse, can't be touched by another male even when it wasn't even her who is initiated it and even immediately did hold her distance to her rescuer???
FL's Mother-in-Law asks FL to send her Hawthorn candy (a kind of fruit candy which is bad for pregnant woman). FL sends them to her, and Mother-in-Law gives them to pregnant concubine of her other son. Later concubine has almost a miscarriage, and everyone in the family blames FL, saying that she did it intentionally. And this makes absolutely no sense. So they are saying that FL should have known that pregnant woman can't eat Hawthorn fruit, but the Mother-in-Law and the pregnant woman herself (who asked for those fruits) are allowed not to know this?? Additionally FL wouldn't even have known that the Mother-in-Law was asking for those candy for the concubine, FL would have only thought that the Mother-in-Law intended to eat them by herself. Also there was absolutely no motive for FL to have done this and lastly who would do such an s*upid obvious scheme that is so easily traced back to them? Would they then even blame FL that it rains?
-
- The reactions of people eating "modern food" are frankly hilarious.
The bad --
- The MC is really unrealistically skilled - she's a great cook, hiker, businesswoman, medic, designer and so on. It gets old.
On the whole, this isn't a deep story and has major flaws, but it is an amusing light read if you're bored and want to turn your brain off for a bit. Many thanks to the translators for their hard work! Their additions of pictures of food etc. Really contributed to my enjoyment of the story. When Chu Lian turned out to be the long lost daughter of the emperor, I had enough and dropped the series.
