Fine! Be that way! She could pass her days perfectly well somehow, even if she had to do it alone!

Chu Lian put her household in order, charmed the rest of her new family, and did a little business on the side. She even opened up some new trade routes! Her days passed peacefully and leisurely… Until her dear husband got into trouble at the frontline of the war.

Hmph, isn’t he crawling back to me for help in the end? Forget it, I’ll go save him myself!

Ah, first of all I don't like romance in a novel because sometimes it'll ruined the whole story.

But this one although I'm still not reading it but after I read the comments and synopsis, it looks interesting, not because I love transmigrating and reincarnated MC's

But I just feel like something pulling me to read it I hope it won't disappoint me :)

... more>> ..I'll give it a star later after I read it..:p

Edit;

This story is so satisfying it won't dissapoint you, all I can say is this is perfect ?????

Novel is extremely overrated. The generic story where everybody hates the female MC and is out to humiliate her, ruin her repuation, get her r*ped, kick her out of the house. Etc. The husband she marries is a giant douchebag.

Female MC's primary method of solving problems is her weirdly proficient culinary skills. Half the novel is about food and how amazing food wins over friends and defeats enemies. Its ridiculous. The female MC also just lets male characters literally walk all over her. When the Female MC has s*x with... more>> her husband, its literally the dude pretty much raping her every single time. There wasn't a single description of her actually enjoying s*x. Really really bizarre.

The male lead / husband's personality is atrocious. Somehow female lead still falls in love with him. Too much emphasis on so many different servants but they don't add anything to the story at all. Way too much emphasis on food. <<less

A breath of fresh air in the genre.

Different from the typical cold and ruthless MCs in these stories, our dear Chu Lian is a total dork. She's adorably sweet and laid-back, but has a spine of iron when necessary. The gratuitous food p*rn is also a treat; it's amazing how many problems can be solved by good food. So far it's been an enjoyable ride with no head-shakingly bad developments.

The main lead's behavior is of course infuriating, but that's to be expected with the setup. I can't wait for the... more>> eventual revelation.

EDIT: Bulgingeyes' review is a classic example of someone thinking that "this story made me feel angry = this story is shit". What a dolt. <<less

I've just caught up to the latest chapter, so my thoughts are a little muddle headed and I'll redo my review later so expect my ramblings to be confusing.

If you're here for romance, you're going to have to grit your teeth until chapter 300 before the two Main Leads finally get down together to have a decent talk.

... more>> Everything before that, the MLI is off at the borders while the MC is at home wanting to be a layabout while she makes money through food recipes.

Don't expect any over-the-top kung Fu or other shenanigans. It's more or less close to our history. The MC also doesn't bring scientific advances to improve her house. Just food recipes, making it much more believable than someone thinking up how to make a train.

Also, it has a bit of a rough start but it worth bearing it.

Plot is rather slow to move, but the story's pacing is quite excellent and there aren't any overly huge time skips. In fact, from chapter 1 to 300, you could say the total amount of time that had passed is less than a year.

As for the MCs character, she has the best personality I've seen aside from Brendel in TAS. She's not over conceited or arrogant. If someone is looking for trouble with her, shes going to give as good as she gets. She won't condemn someone to death nor is she physically strong. At most, she'll make her attackers lose face by being calm and collected while also serving top-tier tasting food.

It's a huge contrast to other Chinese LNs so it's a pleasant surprise to me. <<less

You should probably wait till the translation is complete to start reading. The pace of the story.... well, at this rate, even snails would overtake us!

The story is good. The translation is superb. The food p*rn has made me hungry and crave for food I had no access to at weird hours of the night, I almost wished I could transmigrate into the novel just for the food!!! Don't read while hungry.

The translator has warned us that raw chapters would be split into 2 or 3 translated chapters for the... more>> sake of convenience which is understandable as we all have real life issues to deal with. Am one of those people who prefer lengthy chapters, so logically I would mostly pile up a few chapters before I read. However, even with my pile of chapters the story is still not moving and this is so frustrating especially when chapters are now being split into 7 or 8 parts instead of 2 or 3!

I know the translator gave a warning that chapters are going to get shorter, and I thought that maybe if raw chapters are getting shorter then hopefully translated chapters won't be split into so many parts. Little did I know that it was the translated chapters that were being shortened! I shouldn't complain about something I have been warned about, especially since am not paying to read someone's hours of translations, but I have been reading the same chapter for 7 days now. Even if I wanted to sponsor the novel, knowing that I would be paying for around 751 words is not bringing out the generous in me.

For the time being, as a result of my frustration with the novel's pace, I am going to stop reading and come back on December 31st. Hopefully, the translator will keep her new year's resolution to finish translating this novel by the end of 2018. If there will be a completed ebook version, I will definitely purchase. <<less

This was a pretty good read, until the romantic subplot started to unroll.
First of all I cannot find a single reason as of why our FL should like the ML unless she is a masochist with no self-respect starved for attention but... that is not the case, or at least should not be considering the first 200 chapters.
She basically loves him because the author wanted that to happen.

She does a 180 as soon as she falls in love and becomes incredibly boring and useless, completely denying what we... more>> are supposed to believe she is as a character and as a transmigrated modern woman.

The relationship between the two of them lacks balance, their first night was way too long and horrendous to read (she wants none of that but acts meek and lets him do whatever he wants) and after that she becomes his possession, never complaining about him abusing her while caring about him more and more.

The ML is incredibly disgusting btw, the most memorable moment is when he almost r****s her when she's unconscious after spending the night outside in the middle of winter and almost freezing to death.

Besides that she has no personal space and he touches her everywhere even in public leading to her "blushing". (???) The two of them have only once instance of development as a couple, he has some insecurietes but most of their time togheter is spent in bed where he "tortures" her, it's boring and annoying after a while seeing her loving him while he acts like she's an obect.

Disregarding the romantic aspect of the story, the ending is also atrocious and rushed, most characters are dealt with a single sentence ("X marries Y and they live happily after that").

Do yourself a favour and don't read this. <<less

What happens when two people return to the past, both knowing the future? And what if, those two people are the main couple?

This novel has fireworks from the very first chapter, and I'm here to tell you that it absolutely does not disappoint, for the following reasons:

  • The main couple's romance is adorable! From the start, the male and female leads have some pretty serious misunderstandings, but they're handled in a cute way. The ML is supposed to be the 'aggressor' but acts more like an angry puppy, while the FL is chill and mature. Since they're both going through their second life together, they're practically in the same boat, and hopefully they'll come to truly understand each other by the end. (I mean, does it bother anyone else when the MC hides their 'secret' all their life, even from their partner? :/)
  • As the title would suggest, there's emphasis on both leads, as you get to see from each of their perspectives. It's actually very interesting to hear the ML's thoughts and get to know his personality, because behind his cold exterior is a tsun- I mean, a warm heart.
  • The plot line is constantly engaging, full of awesome and fun moments. The FL's cool personality lets her stand above the usual politics and face-slapping, which IMO is getting a tad too repetitive in this genre. Although you still get a fair share of that here, it's mostly light-hearted and by far not the most interesting thing this novel has to offer. However, seeing how some other reviewers had problems with the story, so I recommend reading a few chapters to see if it's your cup of tea. (It's not because I'm trying to get you hooked on this novel like I am, okay? ;D) There's also a few pleasant surprises: I didn't think of myself as a foodie, but I've been hugely entertained by people scrambling for good food while drooling over the food myself...
  • The writing is excellent; side characters are usually diverse and well-developed so they don't feel like a waste of words. The TL does a top-notch job of translating, plus the reading community makes this novel more fun to follow. So you should come and join us already, huehuehue...
I admit, this novel has one weakness: there'll be nonsensical, cannon fodder characters that pop out once in a while, but if they bother you then you should just skip... more>> over those parts, because the rest of the novel is awesome! :D

Overall, this novel should tick your boxes if you're looking for a one-on-one romance, Ancient Chinese setting and generally refreshing read. But don't be discouraged if you're not experienced in these genres, because this story has a simple charm that can appeal to anyone! Good luck, and hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did :) <<less

Warning! This story shud not be touched unless you are fully fed.

This one is a real food p*rn that could cause you midnight food craving, or sudden hunger!

Consider yourself warned.

This is a story about a modern girl suddenly thrown into a novel world, and despite trying her best, she still trigger all the flags, like men falling for her, women getting jealous of her, or events that cannot be avoided.

It is a very good read, too slow paced, but very entertaining

How did I even finish this one..? This novel is absolutely infuriating and it just got worse and worse with less and less redeeming qualities.

Misunderstandings the book basically. Nothing in the story progresses unless several characters have incredibly s*upid misunderstandings or equally s*upid decisions. There's a bunch of times where the FML and ML hint at having a plan, only for it to turn out their plan is so bad people die every single time and they are like "WOOPS! I'm so sad now for one line and then move... more>> on." People even go out of their way to warn them that there's problems and begs them to avoid the giant elephant in the room, but they still make the s*upid mistake anyway.

Minor spoiler:
Spoiler

They agree to talk about everything with each-other, but literally the next 50 chapters or something is about them misunderstanding each-other to the point of almost breaking up several times. Ugh.

[collapse]

As others have mentioned the treatment of side characters such as the FL's sister in law is s*upid and she got so two-dimensionally selfish and "evil" that I legit thought she'd been possessed by the devil or something and was wondering if the author was going to introduce fantasy all of a sudden but it turns out it was just to justify having her ruined even more. Almost all the FMLs maids think they can climb into someones bed despite them even acknowledging that others had been killed before for the exact same reason and they still do it. Then there's the relationship between the FML and the ML. The FML's mindset seemed to be that she could throw away everything about him if he made even a slight mistake at certain points in the story. When they get together it feels very forced and drawn out. Usually sex-scenes make me feel awkward or shy or h**ny, but here they just made me feel bored out of my skull and I eventually had to skip large sections of the FML and ML being alone together because it was so boring.

Spoiler

Saw others COMPLIMENT the Original FML returning plot-point? HOW? My eyes were about to roll out of my freaking skull at that sh*t arc. Several maids have warned her about that character and even the FML herself and the ML was thinking about how to deal with her, yet she allows herself to be alone with this person? Then more and more of her guards leave one after another in a series of insane "coincidences" and she's still like "NO PROBLEM! I'm only 7 month pregnant! What could one person possibly do?". Then she gets kidnapped and then two guys carrying two women and a palanquin somehow outrun hidden imperial guards. She's like 99% certain it's that maid at this point and she's alone with her but instead of curb-stomping her ass while she's pretending to be unconscious FML decides to wait until she wakes up instead because that's her plan or something.

If the ML was one second slower, their baby is dead. This is not exciting this is anger-inducing tr*sh!
[collapse]

Usually I'd say the start gives this an extra point because it was good, but now that I finished it I wish it had shown it's true face from the start so that I didn't continue past the first few chapters. <<less

At first I thought it was an interesting read of transmigrator meets reincarnator, but it was very poorly executed... I agree with another reviewer where they had plenty of opportunities throughout the story to just sit down talk things out, but they don't want to because......? There was no reason other than to prolong their misunderstanding. She didn't even try to understand her husband and wrote him off as being a lunatic, but the ML on the other hand had more of an excuse since he was under the assumption... more>> that she was his b*tch ex wife the entire time.

I actually thought it would be interesting to see if they found out about each other's background, how would they react? But it was glossed over and not really discussed.

They wanted to throw in a political fight in the background that didn't really seem to matter and would be better either fleshed out or not included at all. Just pick one. One of my main disappointments was that they did have interesting side characters like Princess Duanjia and Prince Jin, which could have their own side stories with how they got together with their own love interests, but nope, you don't even get that either.

The entire story boasts about how great the MC's food is, but its gets repetitive of they constantly remind you that people back then had sh*t food, so of course anything she made would taste like heaven and people would immediately turn to her side for said food *eye rolls*. I couldn't care less for the food aspect of it, and it did feel like the author had never cooked.

Overall this story had lots of small elements that could have potentially made this a really good story, but the author couldn't pick something to focus on/develop and was unable to tie it all together. <<less

Wow okay, this book has been a journey!

I have very mixed opinions about this book, I really did enjoy the first half of the novel but it really went south and became a huge disappointment to me.

The first quarter of the book was great! Seeing Chu Lian establish herself in the ancient world by making businesses in order to have an easy life was hilarious and fun to read. It contained little to no romance. I personally am a big fan of romance but this novel kept me on the... more>> hook even without the romance for around the first 250 chapters because there was already dynamic set in stone between MC and ML that I was anticipating to see them reunite again and their story to unfold.

However, what I got was such a disappointment. The romance really sprung out of nowhere to me, it was very sudden. The ML went from despising FL to wanting to bang her in one chapter, there was no growth and no depth. They set up the dynamic between the two MCs so well, ML cold & arrogant because of past traumas and FL entrepreneurial and smart. I expected more action and time for them to spend together before falling in love.

ML became way too pushy and r*pey, even though it's constantly told to us that he is in love with FL and FL became the typical shy lead who gets embarrassed at everything (Reminding everyone that she at one point has no problem looking at a p*rn book, but gets embarrassed by a kiss). They became super bland. Nothing about them was entertaining. You would expect the ML to ease up and become more open but there was no character development at all on his part and FL became the most boring character to read (It's like the author forgot she was a businesswoman and just made her do nothing for the latter part of the novel)

When the plot finally comes and everything starts to unfold, it was done in such a sloppy way.
Spoiler

Everything was so disappointing, the big "reveal" that FL's father is the emperor basically contributes nothing to the plot, the villan was set up to be powerful with secret spies and what not but it didn't feel like a real threat.

[collapse]

The ending felt super rushed as well, even though everything kind of got tied up like a pretty bow in the end, I felt no satisfaction.

In conclusion, the romance felt forced, the political plot is a disappointment, the characters became generic. In other words, this is a very lackluster novel. <<less

Read this through machine TL post chapter 25 or so and I'm waiting for it to be fully translated to reread it, but I pretty much see similar comments from people who've been following the translations the entire time so I'm confident I understood most (if not all) of the story. My rating is 4 stars, breaking it down that would be 5 stars for the first half and 3 for the second, to average out to a 4 star story.

To put it simply, the first half or so of... more>> the story is amazing: smart and independent female lead, hilarious misunderstanding with the male lead that allows the focus to be purely on world building and watching the FL get better and better, nice in-law relations which is a great break from the catty family trope we always see, detailed food descriptions that are woven into the plot, etc. And, even though the ML is gone, we're aware of his presence and have a couple fun scenes involving him. Simply put, it was a very neat (as in few loose ends or unnecessary details, logical story flow, and all that) up until the FL goes north and comes back.

After that, it sort of devolved into the stereotype transmigration romance novels. FL is shy for some reason despite having no issues with s*x and the like before, we've got pointless second/third/fourth females popping up and being catty and contribute nothing to the story other than a few chapters of distraction before their glorious demise as cannon fodder. Worst part is, the formerly loving family now becomes stubborn, catty, and just plain s*upid. And I don't mean other parts of their personalities being shown as new situations pop up, it's almost like the family was switched out when the FL was gone. The formerly kind, smart grandmother became a mulish, short-sighted moron, male lead is cold and withholding for everyone and no one brings it up, it's like we changed to any generic transmigration novel. And it was so much more disappointing for the fact that the first half was so good. The author just seemed to lose all inspiration so the novel lost all uniqueness; the 2nd half might have been even worse if it wasn't for resolving the issues introduced within the first 300 chapters or so. <<less

An amazingly well written story so far, with an OP (in a chill way) MC and an interesting premise (transmigrator and reincarnator). The translations are well done and update frequently, so what more needs to be said? Definitely recommend this novel. You won't regret it!

Overrated.

MC is dumb naive. Its not a problem actually but regarding that the MC already know the plot and her background as succesful entrepreneur with tragic childhood? Not quite right. The filler story also so bad that I think this story better to be titled as pattiserie reincarnator young lady than the original title. Well maybe it was the reason the story short lived (300 chap)

I actually read this novel quite a while ago, yet I was able to recall all the details. It was very memorable, to say.

Unfortunately, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. It was one of the worst novels I have ever come across, which is strange, since this novel has quite a unique storyline.

Like many other negative reviews, I disliked how the writer wrote the FL’s sister-in-law. The leads and side characters were all badly written, if I’m being brutally honest. They had no realistic personalities, they were very... more>> 2D, and brainless.

I enjoyed the start of the novel until it slowly became a mess. The FL is too OP, for one thing. It’s weird and just took my out of the story many times.

The relationship between the leads personally felt forced and had no chemistry. I personally felt that the ML and FL weren’t very well-suited for each other and the author tried to push them together. The transition from dislike to love was unclear, and their relationship development made no sense to me.

After they got together, the romance was made me cringe many times. I felt physically nauseous reading it. It’s one of those sugary-sweet yet toxic high-school relationships.

If I could describe this novel in one word, it would be ‘disappointing.’ <<less

This novel is an odd one for me. It is half good and half utter tr*sh.

Allow me to explain since I'm really not a hater and with my other reviews as example my intentions are usually to encourage reading the novel by being rather optimistic and focusing little on the negatives.

The good:
- The story is entertaining, I think the author achieved a proper use of the transmigrator trope without the protagonist becoming too much of a Mary Sue.
- The protagonist Chu Lian has a set personality from the... more>> beginning based on the more modern place where she comes from, and she remains true to her character.
- I really liked the way the author made use of her love for food and extensive repertoire of recipes and her designer career to produce money instead of having her be ridiculously knowledgeable in science, engineering and stuff. She might still be OP, but I've read a lot worse. In Chu Lian's case, you can still argue she was really talented before transmigration.
- It has charming characters and some not so much although not many have much development.
- The ending is rushed. By all means, this is a good thing because I desperately did not want to keep reading. Why? Let's talk about...

The bad:
- The male lead! He is disgusting as a character. Zero personality, incredibly s*upid although the author tries to make him appealing and smart at times but damn.I'm sorry to say this, but I feel the author has some real masochist tendencies because the ML treats our protagonist like tr*sh for most of the novel
Spoiler

and she ends up in love with him?

[collapse]
Come on! He is not tsundere like the author keeps on saying, just a bastard.
Some may argue that due to his past life he has his reasons and yes I agree, get him his revenge but not the girl, it just doesn't make sense unless the protagonist Chu Lian suffers from zero self-esteem.
- As some others have mentioned all interactions between the FL and ML are recommended to be skipped. They are incredibly annoying, specially the second half of the novel
Spoiler

with the guy just being h**ny on every interaction between them and

[collapse]
trying to appear romantic.
- It is really sad when the ML is more dislikeable than the villain, even if Xiao Bojian is tr*sh He Sanlang still sickens me more. And no, I am not saying the bad guy is better of course not, he is even more crazy and obsessive, but since he appears less often there aren't enough opportunities to accumulate the hate.

At long last would I recommend this novel?
Definitely but under certain conditions:
- If you somehow enjoy a story where the FL is supposed to be strong and independent but still likes the abusive, possessive and even crazy ML then be my guest.
- If you do not then just skip every interaction between the couple after the 100th chapter and you are good to go, the story is still good enough to read. <<less

Good Points:

    • calm and independent FL (Soul from modern world, with a bit foreknowledge about novel)
    • quite interesting environments build by the Author (based on ancient china)
    • interesting cheat this time with the ML
      Spoiler

      ML is reborn

      [collapse]
    • (not included in my rating for this novel) : superb translation and reader friendly website (Translator even did a lot of research and posted pictures and links, especially to show the "food p*rn")
Bad Points:

    • a lot of 1-Dimonsinal Characters (you could practically see what the author intended when she suddenly brought out such a side character or suddenly changed the personality of an originally good character, just so she could extend the drama and lengthen the "plot")
    • (biased point) a lot of pet peeves of mine were mentioned
        • Hint:
          Spoiler

          the tag "Multiple Reincarnated Individuals"

          [collapse]
        • Jealousy and communication problem used as a plot devise, a clich that leads to unnecessary annoying drama
          Spoiler

Especially in the last half of the novel, in the spring hunt: ML more or less willingly holds injured Princess in his arms (Princess is in love with him) and later sees (with Princess still in his arms) how FL is being rescued by crazy second ML, when she was falling from her horse. ML ignores her then and keeps the injured princess company, while FL is seeing all this but doesn't get an explanation from him. I really abhor such annoying dumb drama. So it is fine that ML can carry a Princess who is in love with him, but FL who didn't even had a choice when falling from her horse, can't be touched by another male even when it wasn't even her who is initiated it and even immediately did hold her distance to her rescuer???

          [collapse]
. This makes the ML super unattractive in my eyes
        • FL who was really cool in the beginning and is mentally about 25+- years old, suddenly transforms in a young and blushing shy teenager when she starts to fall for the ML
        • not only that but she becomes even the typical damsel in distress in more and more situations, this is especially awkward since a lot of female side characters (noble or not) are quite trained in self defense or horse riding in that world (though later it becomes a bit better with FL)
        • Author likes to extend the drama with letting the FL not come to word when in a show-down for face slapping or lets her only rant in her head but not let her say anything important aloud to extend misunderstandings and prolong dramatic scenes.
    • a lot of plot-holes: It seems like the Author forgot a lot of her own writing (- at one time someone is described as 10 years old then later 11 years old then again 10 years old etc., -at one time someone did die, but later was alive again, and so on)
    • illogical and unreasonable behavior from characters e.g.:

FL's Mother-in-Law asks FL to send her Hawthorn candy (a kind of fruit candy which is bad for pregnant woman). FL sends them to her, and Mother-in-Law gives them to pregnant concubine of her other son. Later concubine has almost a miscarriage, and everyone in the family blames FL, saying that she did it intentionally. And this makes absolutely no sense. So they are saying that FL should have known that pregnant woman can't eat Hawthorn fruit, but the Mother-in-Law and the pregnant woman herself (who asked for those fruits) are allowed not to know this?? Additionally FL wouldn't even have known that the Mother-in-Law was asking for those candy for the concubine, FL would have only thought that the Mother-in-Law intended to eat them by herself. Also there was absolutely no motive for FL to have done this and lastly who would do such an s*upid obvious scheme that is so easily traced back to them? Would they then even blame FL that it rains?

This is obviously only poorly executed drama to lengthen the plot.

I have mixed feelings about this novel, though I rather enjoyed it overall.

First, the good -

    • The main character is so incredibly refreshing. Someone who has a passion that she then transforms into a highly profitable business! Not caring overmuch about her husband hating her since she doesn't know him and knows she can survive without him! She wants that weird dude trying to have an affair with her to back the hell off and doesn't snoop into the backstory!
    • The basis of this story, where multiple characters have varying amounts of knowledge of the future and none are aware of each other is genuinely good.
    • The male lead also has to grow somewhat and realize that he can't rely only on his knowledge of the future - he has to look at people and how they behave in the here and now.
    • Both the male and female leads have actual friends whom they care about and who care about them in return! The friends have their own opinions on the partners!
    • The female general is an emotionally mature adult whom I absolutely adore and who should be put up as an example of what to do if you're interested in someone who's taken - shrug and move on!
    • Multiple people, including the husband, acknowledge and appreciate the MC's many contributions to her husband's success.
    • Women having control over family finances and businesses is something I don't see explored often enough but is a major element in the story here.
    • The reactions of people eating "modern food" are frankly hilarious.
The bad -

    • Ancient people had tastebuds and skills too, you know. There are plenty of dishes made and loved in the modern day using techniques invented millenia ago. I don't think the author is a genuine foodie interested in food history, probably skimmed a wikipedia page and called it a day.
    • The s*x is godawful, though that seems to be a staple of the genre. Just skip it.
    • The male lead has abusive traits, especially at the beginning, though at least he recognizes his jealousy as irrational by the end.
    • Most of the external drama felt forced and this story is replete with s*upid characters.
    • The MC is really unrealistically skilled - she's a great cook, hiker, businesswoman, medic, designer and so on. It gets old.
On the whole, this isn't a deep story and has major flaws, but it is an amusing light read if you're bored and want to turn your brain off for a bit.

Many thanks to the translators for their hard work! Their additions of pictures of food etc. Really contributed to my enjoyment of the story.

This was an amazing translation. Much praise to the translator for their effort. The original story is already laxking, what could they do. It was fine-ish up until the husband finally falls in love with her. Mind you, it wasn't without problems. The author's reason for how Chulian can know how to cook so much stuff? Because she is a foodie. That is utter crock. Just because you eat, doesn't mean you automatically know how to cook the food you ate. And it was never described that she was born a genius with some nonsense god-level tasting skill. She's just a regular woman who has been on gourmet tours, and that's freaking it. That makes no sense and I can't turn off my brain for long enough to disregard it. It was even more rage-inducing when in one chapter the author describes Chulian making "water drop cake" (mizu shingen mochi in Japanese) WITH GLUTINOUS RICE FLOUR. Any idiot with Google on hand shoukd know that the water cake is made of agar, that's why it's transparent. It's impossible to achieve otherwise. I just want to slap the author at that point. All that waxing description of Chulian's cooking, and they make a dumbass mistake like this. The reason is clearly that the writer confused the "mizu shingen mochi" 水信玄餅 with the "shingen mochi" 信玄餅, there's only one character difference. The regular shingen mochi is a regular mochi made with glutinous rice flour. But man, shut up about your character being a foodie if you can't even do the basic decency of Googling the correct recipe. You screw up, your character and story looks s*upid. I was still able to tolerate it so far, but then the drama just got more and more extra. Individually, jealousy and greed are pretty realistic, but when it was all piled up together with the elaborate plots it becomes silly and irritating. If you want over the top stuff, then don't bother with the petty nonsense. It's cheapening the "serious drama". I also don't enjoy plots where characters who originally treats the FL well suddenly turns around and backstabs her just because the writer needs to invent more problems. The romance wasn't very good. Even when Chulian is supoosedly falling in love with the husband, I never got the sense of it. The s*x scenes were more like she just puts up with the husband. I enjoyed her interactions with the princess more.
Spoiler

When Chu Lian turned out to be the long lost daughter of the emperor, I had enough and dropped the series.
