Qiu Yanzhi was a jaded university student who came across a popular virtual reality dating simulator. One capture target in particular, He Zhou, caught his eye immediately.

But why was this guy such an as*hole for no reason?? Game devs, WTF were you thinking???

But for some reason Qiu Yanzhi stuck around. He found that He Zhou wasn’t so bad after all. Qiu Yanzhi had fun in game, basking in the warmth and affection missing from his real life.

That was, until he couldn’t log out anymore.

Trapped inside the game, Qiu Yanzhi saw only one way out: seducing the capture target to complete the main storyline.

And if that meant he had to pretend, to lie, to scheme and deceive?

He would do it.

Arghhh I love this!!The story is not the most unique but it's still quite refreshing. It's lil bit bittersweet and touching.I just cant get enough of the MC and ML. The side CP is also kinda cute.

I thought the way the author describes the MC and ML relationship is quite realistic. They have their ons and offs but in the end they are still together cos they truly love each other.

MC may come out as a scum but I think he's one of the most humane characters I've read. He's... more>> far fr perfect but he's really relatable. ML is just really sweet. I can feel his devotion and love. And the extras really tied up things nicely. I wish there were more. <<less

From what I've read up until now MC is the most despicable and shameless bit*h I ever knew. Because I haven't finished this story yet so I don't care what he has been through but the way he treats ML is unbearable. A little bit of his childhood scenes is truly pitiful and he has every right to defend himself even through lies. But that does not imply that you can just shift every responsibility by lying through your teeth every time you mess things up. We not called that... more>> defend we called it shameless ok? At first, I was so annoyed by the ML but as it went on I think he is the most miserable character in this novel lol. The title should be "Every day I screwed ML over again"

P.S. Even though I disagreed with how MC brain working. The fact that I still read it is because it is so fun! And I've anticipated the improvement of MC.

Most people have given this novel 5 stars, I had only read one fourth of the story, maybe I may change my mind later.

As of now, I don't particularly like or hate the MC. I can't relate with him, on the other hand I quite liked the ML, in my opinion he deserves someone better than the MC.

All the side characters are all good. I wish, the MC will start liking the ML and not always think of him as an NPC, and stop playing with his life.

i was kinda 70% believed the reviews, since they were saying this was a masterpiece. Then although I already set my hope a bit high, I was surprised that even then I didn’t have any dissappointment in the storyline, plottwist etc. It’s been a while since the last time I had the urge to abandon any other activities just to marathon through all the chapters without stopping. The MC might kinda annoying sometimes but all were still on tolerable level, I kinda wanted to pat ML’s head for being bullied... more>> by MC almost all the time, especially the beginning to middle, lol

all in all, the reading was very enjoyable, the plot was good, face slapping wasn’t excessive nor over magnified, so it’s satisfying to read <<less

Read for a chance to laugh, cringe, blush, gasp, and cry... this novel will truly tug on your heartstrings. I recommend this novel from the bottom of my heart.

It may take a hot minute for the ML and MC to grow on you, because both are very flawed. However, their flaws soon become the things you love them for... they are made for each other, despite the misunderstandings and the ways that they hurt each other. They deserve each other, both in a good, loving way and in a bad,... more>> painful way. You're bound to fall head over heels for several of the well-written side characters as well.

Everything weaves together well, and the pacing is damn near perfect. MTL-ing was a breeze for the most part, so don't be too daunted by the lack of translated chapters (I'll be re-reading as they're uploaded, though! Big thanks to the TL!). If you choose to read it all the way through, the pay-off is wonderful. 100% customer satisfaction gaurantee ;)

Basic premise: the MC plays an immersive reality game, and selects the ML as his capture target. <<less

The the focus on relationships outside the main pair is MWAH! The way MC and his in-game best friend support each other thru thick n thru thin?!!?? YEAH!!! Plus, the female characters are clearly written with love <3

Great story. Can be read in one sitting, has the perfect cliches AND what you expect will happen, making it even better!

Only 97 chapters so can be read in a day or 1.5 days.

Anyone that's trying to find a nice read with slight dog blood in the beginning, this is for you. Of course the dog blood then later turns into a bit of regret and lots of love.

My all-time favorite. Has some really interesting and complicated dynamics between characters that you don't tend to see often in danmei, and both the main character and male lead have their own depth. The side characters and main plot are both compelling, and although the angst was heavy in some portions, I don't think it was unnecessary. The main character is so interesting because he is cynical, abrasive, and kind of awful, especially in the first few chapters, although it's portrayed in a humorous way. However, all of that ends... more>> up peeling back to reveal his true nature, which is quite vulnerable. The game and the male lead are the ones who expose that side of him; as a whole, this story is really about the main character, his struggle with love and pain, and how the male lead reflects his complicated thoughts and history. I'm getting overdramatic for a danmei review (like girl what) but even though the writing can appear cheap at times bc of the typical danmei writing style, the underlying story is so compelling that I can't help but reread it over and over again. There are also definitely moments I gawk at the beauty of the writing, but just know that it's not going to be a totally literary read (i mean what were you expecting this isn't xiaomogu). There's also basically zero filler content--never while reading did I get bored or switch novels, there's always a new plot development or funny moment to fill up the word count. And every step of the way, the story gets more and more intense--it starts off sort of like a typical danmei/'capture the target!' kind of thing with an added premise, but as time goes on, more and more gets revealed about our main character and the world he lives in, which isn't so simple. I love the plot twists and characters and worldbuilding, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone no matter what they typically read. Thank the translators as well because this translation is amazing!! <<less

Extremely satisfying read. I finished in just over a day and count stop reading because it was just that entertaining. The plot is really good and I just loved both the MC and ML. Their interactions are really fun to read and also pretty funny at times. Also, kinda got whiplash from how author throws in conflicts right after MC and ML finally have a peaceful moment of fluff. Really got me cursing the author at time smh. Overall 10/10. Definitely on my reread list.

at the start, I feel that ML was quite rude but not scummy given that he is "in love" with somebody else. MC though is ultra scummy. MC is self-aware that he is. Like he knows himself well enough. Except for emotional things.

This is well written and translated that's why I was really irritated at MC at the start. Read at your own risk. 4.5 for me. I like Zhang Yuxuan the most. Very adorable. <<less

I seriously recommend this because of the ML-- him slowly falling in love is enough for a 5 rating. The MC is just as silly as any other, though him being more of a scum than the ML is quite justified (who's gonna take a game seriously, anyway? I mean, hello. It's a game.) Only when he learned he might be stuck forever did he finally take things to heart, though I warn you, it's gonna be a while. So far so good, pretty refreshing read and quite a few plot twists! MC is kinda scummy in the beginning but it makes sense cause he’s always been distancing himself from “NPCs” since they’re supposed to be fake.
Pretty nice to read a MC who is realistic tbh, rather than the usual MC who easily falls deep in love instantly with a game character

This story turned out remarkably good. I hated the characters at first - they really were quite scummy. However, as the various mysteries unraveled, I found myself getting attracted to all the characters, even the originally scummy ones.

Every single character has their own reasons for acting the way they do, which start peeking through in some of the asides and extras. They also bring up interesting points about what reality really is (more than anything concrete, maybe it's just the ability to feel in control of your own destiny). They... more>> show the different ways someone might show love, or reasons why they might be scared to embrace it, and what a shame it is to give up on sincere love.

This story certainly isn't fluff, and most of its twists are predictable, but it still kept me eagerly reading until the very end. <<less

Clearly, this novel isn't meant for me. So if you're impatient and gets easily angered like me, don't read this. It's not meant for us!

... more>> It's so hard to read this with the MC being dumb as sh*t. I'm sure they had a character development in the later chapters but oh. my. God. is Qiu Yanzhu f*cking shameless. It's not even "funny" shameless, just straight up disgusting shameless. Yes, they're still an NPC but since he keeps on saying the game "blurs the line between reality and fantasy" wouldn't you think to treat them as people?

I don't have the patience to continue on from chapter 20. I'm glad most of you liked it but I can't, for the love of me, stand Qiu Yanzhi's dumb behavior of not learning from his f*ckin mistakes in the first few chapters.

He got caught in a lie, what did he do? cover it up with more lies. And the fact that this happened several times and he didn't even think to, I don't know, maybe be HONEST FOR ONCE?! It's soooooooo irritating, I don't understand how y'all managed to push through the whole story.

The ML was scummy too because of the r*pe thing. I won't justify what he did since r*pe is r*pe but he genuinely cared for the MC. Learning that someone you thought loved you wholeheartedly was just staging it all to sleep with you and make you fall in love with them would make anyone furious. Again, I'm not justifying what he did.

It might've been a great story but I'm sorry, the MC was really on my nerves the whole time. It's not even the gong who's scum, it's the MC. so f*ckin annoying. <<less

If there's one thing about this novel, it's that doors and locks don't work in it. The amount of times a character has walked in on someone during an intimate scene or a revelation has to be counted with at least two hands.

But you know what? This light novel was so interesting that I didn't even care. The first ten chapters were an uphill battle, but after that, it's just a whole roller coaster ride as you unravel each layer of the MC. The ML was also quite fleshed out.

I... more>> really liked the MC's character, and how manipulative he was. Each side character was well-rounded as well, those you thought were villains usually turned out to have another side to them, which is something you don't see often in danmei/web novels in general. Because of that, I didn't mind the plot-holes sprinkled throughout the novel, nor how far-fetched some situations were. Definitely did not expect this to become one of my favourites. <<less

I'm just gonna start off with wow, this was a great read. I encourage everyone who's even mildly interested to at least try it out.

like someone else said the title is very misleading. This is not a scum gong revenge fantasy novel, honestly the gong is probably the more reasonable of the two. Everything he does that could be regarded as scummy is a direct reaction to the MC's antics. The shou is a serial liar, who does nothing but deny his emotions and play with those around him, and... more>> I love it. There's also a pretty good reason for his behavior. Usually in novels like this I can have a hard time understanding why the two leads like each other especially if their relationship starts off casually antagonist but I really think it works here.

The plot itself is like a roller coaster. Although a lot of the things revealed were pretty obvious from the beginning

I guessed that He Zhou was little tr*sh and the other player the moment it was mentioned there had been an accident involving a car crash

the way they were revealed was always very entertaining. It also posed some surprisingly introspective themes that I was really not expecting. It basically deconstructed our view on what it means to be "real" while staying generally lighthearted throughout.

I think the contrast between Liu Cheng and Ye Hongyuan showed it pretty well. I also really feel for the main villain. Especially after reading the Liu Cheng extras, I wish he could have had a better ending.
