Plot

The start is a little different from other transmigrate to ancient china stories which threw me off a bit. Still refreshingly different though. After he arrives at the new world, it's back to the usual. The beginning was very strong. The characters were introduced and they were rather interesting. After a while though, we got some family drama over a kinda boring topic of the ML's ugly birthmark. Wasn't a fan of this plot device. Appearance is a topic that if present should be done deeply. Here... more>> it's pretty superficial.

I think I'm gonna drop it. I'm just not a fan of the romance and it is taking up so. Much. Space. I don't like how the ML becomes a typical shy blushing uke in front of the ML after his great first impression. And the interactions are just so typical and thus, predictable. Which means it is not doing anything to change my mind. If you do like the romance from the start, you won't have any issues.

The translation I read is from Tokki's Archive. It's kinda eh. Lots of odd words. Like edited MTL but forgot to give the last pass-through.

The MC is a gong. He's a bit bland. I was disappointed though because the shou ML at first was super interesting. A ger with a birthmark right on his face, but very lively, stubborn, bold and unexpectedly a little bit sly. Despite being "ugly" in this ancient era. But when the romance started, he became the typical blushing shy uke. Sigh. How boring.

The other characters were interesting at first like the gay grandparents from the apocalyptic world. An interesting setup. The strong point was all the characters setup at the beginning. They were interesting. But when you get to know them, the imagination doesn't live up to reality I guess lol. They were okay.

The romance is okay. It wasn't an insta love so that was good. There was some setup. The MC was first a bit curious about this lively ML and over more dealings, fell in love. A typical BL romance.

I liked it, but not to much... I gave four stars, but it was more like 3, 5.

First, let me explain that the MC is a man who lived years in the apocalypse, when he finally come back to the past he didn't want to fight anymore, he wanted peace... So, he transmigrated to the past! He had the chance to do it in his first life, but he didn't believe it, so, when he came back, he was looking for the person who offered him the chance to transmigrate... more>> first.

He didn't want to be the greatest after a life fighting, but just to live a good and simple live with the man he loves. So there, in this other land, he finds love, he works, become rich and raise kids. Just that. There's almost no fight, just some business pitfalls and commercial problems.

The story is good, but just good, it's not, like, something extraordinary. From chapters 70's or 80's the narrative starts to run, the author doesn't explains the details anymore, the situations happen and the text writes about it superficially. And the extras were worst! The story wasn't running anymore, it was racing! The four last paragraphs needed so more details! I WAITED SO LONG FOR THEM TO MEET AGAIN! And the author did it in four paragraphs... I didn't like this part.

There's no such big conflict the MC couldn't solve and at some moment it starts to be boring... I finish it because I want to see the happy ending. But that's all. You can read if you don't have anything else to read. <<less

Another "going to the past and getting super rich because modern people are clearly superior" novel. This time he even has supplies and supernatural abilities. The author cherry-picks realism. For example, in early chapters (mild spoiler)

He gives modern medicine to an ancient person and mentions that it should be more effective because their bodies are not used to it. BUT he also neglects to mention that since he crossed over with his own body, he is a host to many viruses that his immune system combats easily, but locals will fall prey to. And his immune system isn't equipped to handle the local viruses either. So, it would be better to not mention the difference between the two immune systems at all and let the reader forget about it. Or make him a local copy of his body, idk. There were also other more spoilery instances. But even if not for that, I wouldn't give the story more than 3 stars.

Also, it's in many ways a copy of other novels in this genre. Same scandals, same intrigues, same love story. <<less

As far as I've read this novel, I'm loving it. It reminds me of 'The Only Favourite Ugly Husband, ' which is also in the shounen/leveling up/business genre (BL version) set in ancient times. Except the gong have special abilities, but they still start from scratch and become wealthy. I love these kinds of themes. Additionally, the shou is so adorable, I love their kind character, and they're always there to support the protagonist. That's why I love this novel, and I'll be following the translation.

It's a cute story- there are no too complicated family relations and most of the enemies are in their business sectors. I love the relationship between the cousins as despite just meeting each other and MC knowing they weren’t really relatives and he was originally just fullfilling a promise, he went beyond that and really gave such a nice life to Zhou-ger. Love the dynamics between the Lin family and MC cause it isn't such a formal relationship and they aren't bloodsucking relatives either so the couple has support. Lin... more>> Tianbao is a funny gal and I liked his character. That's all, its really a very relaxed story that doesn't go at a too slow or too fast pace <<less

Really interesting in the beginning, then slowly becomes like an overview or an outline of a story. The later bits became boring.

MC is okay, I like him some of the time and other times, I find him boring and s*upid.

ML was great at the beginning, but after they get together he becomes very 1 dimensional. There were times I forgot he even existed

the difficult birth and him giving away his space core to save ML I became uninterested in their relationship. The whole 2 gers almost dying in childbirth (the cousin and then ML) and him giving a away his power was just a big eye roll to me and I almost dropped it then. His wood healing power is so great until he actually has to use it.

After they got married, I feel like not only did the story go downhill, but the authors writing did as well. The author began just giving vague overviews of events, hard to stay engaged.

Why the rating is so low 🤔. This is one of my best gem novel. Sometimes I will read it again after tired of dog blood story. However the only bad thing is the MC is very mary sue, not only have golden finger but also golden leg. Very2 powerful not suitable for anyone who seek deep scheme and brain storming novel. This might as well said as brainless novel with super op MC but healing type of story. Doesn't need too much thinking, but the writing style very interesting... more>> and easy to understand. Most of this author novel have the same type, super op MC 😂😂😂. But I like it. If you have the same cup of tea like mine, come checkout other novel from this author. Really good. <<less

The story was good. The willingly going into another place was a good point of the plot as it would explain as to why the MC is so knowledgeable cause I was always confused why in some stories, the MC's are so knowledgeable about so many areas. The apocalypse thing was also another thing that explained why he had superpowers instead of it being just a gift to him and him alone. Overall, the vibe of the story was good, the flow went a bit fast at the end but... more>> I think it ended nicely and the author showed him still sticking to his principle of just having a happy life with his family instead of pushing through with having an empire, he chose peace while at the same time paved the roaf for his future children. <<less

So, for those who likes transmigration novels, what I can say after reading the whole story is that:

1. The story is relaxing and has no angst. The ML has the typical silly sweet but strong optimistic personality. While the MC is the strong dependable type.

2. The relationship between the MC and ML is clear with no unnecessary, forceful misunderstandings so that's a plus (for me at least)

... more>> 3. Interesting blend of apocalypse, historical transmigration plotline.

4. While the concept is interesting, the narration is lacking. Rather than giving more depth to the characters, it seems to ramble on more and more, it gets tiring over time.

5. It has its uniqueness, but sometimes it also appears bland and confusing. Some parts doesn't really get explained and while some parts have too much going on that inconsistencies would show, resulting in plot holes.

6. It wasn't bad but the delivery of the writing was a bit of a disappointment. The plot itself was good and delivers something unique to transmigration novels. But the writing had diminished the quality.

7. When approaching the end, the whole story was like pressing the fast forward button.

Overall, these are just my personal point of view and how I felt after reading the whole story. Although I felt that there were shortcomings, it was still an alright read. If you like a relax laidback story and don't mind small details, then it might still be a good read for you. But for those that has a preference for details, this might not be your cup of tea. <<less

It's probably a coincidence but while I was reading this one, the site Chrysanthemum Garden had a site issue so I wasn't able to continue reading this. Then I found something super similar with this one in novelupdates so I read that one instead. The theme was super similar that when I was trying to remember some events that happened in both novels, I'd be confused if I was right.

So the decrease of one star is probably because I was constantly compairing the two. The ML was OP as always... more>> since he is from the apocalypse. I just felt that the ML's dynamics with his shou is a bit lacking. The whole time, it felt like the ML's shou was that of a little brother. It didn't feel like it was with a partner or lover. That's my opinion. It kinda felt that way. I dunno if that was my fault due to my comprehension or do other pips felt this way too after reading the whole thing.

Anyway, good fast read. <<less

And another novel that started out good and became a boring narration in fast forward.

I'm even to exhausted to rant.

I did like the idea and the beginning. MC did know that he could transmigrate to an ancient world and prepared for it.

And then the novel went downhill. The writer conveniently forgot their own setting when needed and loves to ramble on with lots of unneeded stuff. Like in the beginning it is more than once expressed that MCs space is full and there is no more place in it. His... more>> space is small. But just after transmigration it has enough space for him to live in it... That's just the start of all the inconsistencies.

About the rambling... well it is a bit like mansplaining. Stating the obvious. But sometimes it really is needed because the reasoning is so s*upidly bogus that no one would understand.

The writer is really bad on the details and just skips the important stuff and then puts up some last minute imaginary stuff.

I'm tired out by this novel and would not recommend it. The farther you read the more annoying it gets.

The translation is mostly unedited MTL. Full of errors, garbled sentences and nonsense. It's not worth the time. <<less

Pleasing and not boring nor disappointing so far.

I Love the characters so far. Some twist in the story, and the CPs.

The plot itself was not boring. I Love how our MC is well prepared to live in this Ancient time. Not just brought Modern stuff, but also all knowledge he may need aka he printed those stuff and keep it in his magical space. SMART!!!

Love the ML also for not like the usual 'Ugly' ML who was introvert and far too shy. He has strong Mentality. But he's also a... more>> normal human being who can feel sad and slightly inferior at the some part. Which is normal.

Love the ML's family. Great father and brother.

Good Villagers and only little villains (in the village).

I'm really pleased with the story so far. I pray so hard the rest of the story is as good and Satisfying as the beginning!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Finished at 12 November 2023:

the genre is exactly what I like. Everything started out great and promising then it went downhill after all those multiple marriages and child birth. Lacks of world building to the point that no matter how imaginative I am I can't picture out the the exact portrayal of the whole town and villages. The story might be great but the author didn't deliver it properly, the author gives irrelevant information most of the time and skips so many details like how did he open so many shops on other towns... more>> all of the sudden or how he develop the home essential factory... I mean he only have 18 s*aves excluding that one family and he has so many lands and business and he learned his lesson not to trust other people. How did he even do that? The more I read the more my braincells die <<less

The story was good, but after chapter 40+ there is a sharp drop in translation quality which makes it difficult to understand and enjoy the story.

The translation was edited before, afterwards you only get the unedited MTL.

If you don’t like to read MTL don’t start reading.

Not too bad.

Fast read, interesting combination of a seemingly well adjusted apocolyptic man and an actual explanation of how he ended up in an different ancient world. I enjoyed the extras to wrap up the story.
