“Can’t I properly read stallion novels anymore!”

Shen Yuan transmigrated into someone who’d tormented the young male lead almost to death, the scum villain Shen Qingqiu.

It must be known, the original Shen Qingqiu ended up being carved alive by his disciple, Luo Binghe, into a human stick, a human stick!

Ten thousand “f*ck your moms” rampaged through Shen Qingqiu’s heart:

“It’s not that I don’t want to cling to the male lead’s thighs, but who made him so f*cking black. The type who seeks thousand-fold retribution!”

Why have all the female lead’s scenes been forcibly given to him.

Why, as a scum villain, does he need to constantly sacrifice himself, blocking knife and gun for the protagonist!

Shen Qingqiu: “…I think I can still save him, one more time.”

I am 100% in love with Scum Villain!! I love the chemistry between all the characters so much! My literal only complaint is that Shen Yuan boasts being an avid reader of transmigration novels in the beginning, then seems unable to comprehend that his actions have in fact changed the plot. Other than that, it is an absolute blast and a must read for any BL fans!! (Plus its now out officially with so much art!!)

I really loved this novel. The ML is so cute and devoted (i.e. Obsessed). I especially love how the MC crumples to his crocodile tears and lets him have his way, all the while knowing he's faking it. The MC is also very upright in his beliefs and didn't give in until the end when he was sure of himself and his feelings.

That said, I have many criticisms. One, I felt that the novel could have been cut down. Adding the entire ML's crazy father plot line seemed unnecessary — he sort of just popped into the story without any warning midway through. I did like how the ML was the master orchestrator because that relates to the OG protagonist, but it would have been better to show the manipulation in a different way than that confusing plot line.

Also, what made the novel longer was the amount of chapters there were of the MC denying his feelings and then realizing them all at once. It was obvious to readers, I feel, that when he "lost his soul" that he had feelings for him — and even if he didn't realize how he truly felt right away after meeting the ML, that would have been okay. There was no need to add like 40 chapters of a new, contrived plot line to add more tension into the relationship where at the end, he dies realizing he loved the ML. It would have been better for him to realize it after meeting the ML again or that the ML went back to him and made him realize his feelings.

Regardless, I loved the novel! I think that type of ML is pretty cool (in fiction). Definitely would recommend! Though, it does lull eventually because of how long it is, I would recommend this.

I read this a year ago or something? But I forgot to make a quick review so here I am. I do not really remember much, but what I do remember is that I really really liked it at the time. I was also pretty sad and depressed when I finished it all in just a couple of days lol

It's only 99ch a pretty fast read but I completely got lost in the story when I first read it. I think this one is one of the very first BL's... more>> I started reading. I think this ones pretty fitting for people who want to get into danmei's/BL haha. Right now though I probably wouldn't rate it this high, it's mid at best, but I'll let the rating stay. If you are new to this genre definietly read it since now your standards are probably pretty low. <<less

It's a funny little book and it is also a rather quick read. I didn't finish the extras, but I got the gist of it. Luo Binghe is the most character of all time. Genuinely think this would be a 2/5 if it weren't for him (though that's mostly because I don't care for comedy).

It's student/teacher with all the problematic aspects that come with it. Binghe (student) initiates most of the romance so it's not as squick-y. Plus by the end of things they are about the same age. If... more>> you don't care for insane obsessive characters don't pick this up because that's like the whole appeal.

CONS: The female character are underdeveloped even though they are set up to be interesting. A lot of the side character in general are kind of just sidelined? But it is the most egregious when it comes to the female character in my opinion. The MC kind of stagnates at some point regarding his development, tho to be fair this is obviously in service of Binghe's development.

UHMS: There is a HUGE tonal shift after the first volume of the SS edition. I don't feel a particular way about it but it is extremely notable.

PROS: Luo Binghe is a well written and controversial character both in Shen Yuan's real life and also the real real life. Props to MXTX for pulling that off. Miscommunication trope is like half this novel and it's a good execution of the trope! I thought I hated the trope but this novel thought me that most people just can't write it well. <<less

This is my favorite MXTX novel.

I absolutely love the MC (Shen Qingqiu) and his relatability! ML (Luo Binghe) is the cutest! (⌒▽⌒) ♡ It's really cool how since the novel is written from Shen Qingqiu's perspective, you don't necessarily get to see the full story! Plus, Shen Qingqiu tends to be a bit of an unreliable narrator at times! It definitely makes it more interesting.

I'd say if you're expecting something like MDZS or TGCF, you shouldn't read this until you're prepared for it. And to make sure you're able to appreciate... more>> it for what it is, because it is not like MXTX's other novels at all, do not expect it to be!! ( ̄□ ̄」) Okay! That's my review! :) <<less

I've cried, I've loved and I think it's definitely worth a try. It's not a story that everybody may like but it has its merits.

As a part of my Holy Trinity of BL in which it takes 2nd place I really recommend cuz I really enjoyed it. I've also reread it at least 2 times.

I wish it had some more smut but well... we can't have all.

I like the lamp-shading in this novel. The MC's goal to "un-cringe" the novel he's trans migrated into is surprisingly not cringe at all, and is mostly sensitively done. Complex female characters, check, character arcs, check. Can't complain.

The dynamic is fun, but I was very worried at first about the age thing between the main characters. Even though it's a little bit weird, author manages to very skillfully avoid any ickiness, so props to them. Valid

A hilarious journey as SQQ gets transmigrated into the OP with harem novel he was reading before his death.

As the author's first novel, it does have some shortcomings. But the meta commentary she inserts about novels/writers/readers/ and antis makes up for it.

There are tragic romances in the story and an underlying romantic plot for SQQ and LBh, but I would say the main focus of this novel isn't the romance. It's more about SQQ's growth as a person and his slow realization about some truths he needed to face. LBH... more>> is a tragic figure as his life circumstances impact him in different ways and SQQ's attempts to change the plot don't always work in either character's favour. There is a happy ending though for our main couple but it takes a while to get there. I love the last paragraph.

Highly recommended! <<less

Reread twice and still love it. Love all of the author's work. The plot is interesting and is an easy quick read. SQQ is humorous throughout the novel. The romance is not the best developed but seeing how the author progresses in their later works I still think it's worth the read. There might be some parts that might be uncomfortable, such as LBH being a yandere and the ending which might seem forced. However, LBH actions make sense for the plot and the relationship between SQQ and LBH is... more>> consensual. <<less

The novel is not everyone's cup of tea. I loved the novel, the way it was written, the effort of the translators have to be given point.

I love SQQ, but I pitied LBH more. The main reason I gave it this high rating is because it is a comedy not a tragedy.

I highly recommend reading the novel for its funny plot

Fun transmigration + cultivation read. Nothing too deep. Random adventures. Lots of 4th wall breaks. MC is hilarious. Relationship is toxic and ML is yandere, but I like yandere every so often. A deep romance is not the focus. This is a humorous parody of stallion novels. Not a story that I'm going to be mulling over for the next 2 weeks, but it was a very fun read. So tldr; just have fun with it.

It might be difficult to pick up if you've never read any other xanxia, cultivation,... more>> transmigration, system story before. There's a decent chunk of webnovel jargon. If it seems hard to read or unfunny, I would suggest maybe coming back to this story after having read some other xanxia or transmigration novels.

Also, it's ridiculous that people are judging a novel based off of other novels the author has written. This is an independent, different work. Otherwise, there's no point in writing another book. <<less

This work is the laughing gas, love it!

This is MXTX's first work, there's a lot of reviews for the character's attributes here and there. But if the character is that perfect based on everyone's reviews and likes, then the characters wouldn't stand out on their uniqueness (the character's identity).

Just from reading this novel, you'll learn the moral of the story/ what is needed (what they lacked) for a relationship.

Love the story! (Good thing I finished the fan English translations, oof for the new people who'll read this, I wish you luck finding them) <<less

5/5

This work is not perfect, it is very bad in many points, but considering that he is the older brother, the difference in level between him and Mao Dao Zu Shi and Heaven Official's Blessing is understandable, which is excellent, shows the evolution of author as writer.
This point alone makes me impartial with this work and makes me adore it.
The characters are great, they don't run away from their natures, they don't act in an atypical way to what has already been established, they are well written.
The world is not that deep, but it is still well portrayed and holds you as a reader.
The MC is overly confident in the script that blinds him to the reality in front of him, which is understandable and we have a good laugh at the contrast between his real personality and the personality he exhibits.
The ML is a mix of confusion, which is also understandable, its first half is lovely and its second half is justifiable, not all of its actions are acceptable but understandable.
Their relationship is lovely and good, unfortunately the author didn't give us much depth about them together, which is clear in the extras, where she shows little flashes of the past that point out that their relationship is much deeper than what we saw in the story presented and it makes us question what else we didn't see, after all they were together for years before the breakup.
Anyway, the work is good, it is worth reading, after all it is the beginning of the author, and what a start!

This is my third review in novelupdates for the second danmei novel that I've finished.

First of all I want to say thank you so much to the translators for their hard work in translating this wonderful novel.

From the story and the characters are great.... The main couple is good, too.... The story is a combination of funny (mainly) and little bit of angst....

Great overall story to read...

Very funny! I loved it. Just finished it and almost want to read it again. Some side characters deserved a bit more attention, too (like an extra chapter or a spin-off), because they were very interesting.

I love the premise and the POV is very very funny. The first half of the book smartly navigates the game-like nature of the world. In the second half however, the plot meanders and gets away from the writer. The ending is especially unsatisfying. There's lots of interesting characters and ideas that don't reach their potential. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable and funny novel especially in the first half.

If I rate this objectively, it would probably be a 2.5, at most a 3.

Characters don't really have that much depth and the plot is character driven so it kinda ties with that. The romance kind of falls apart when you think too deeply about it and this isn't really the type of prose I enjoy.

But you know what, I'm gonna rate it a 4 because this novel is hella entertaining and all of the elements I complained about above I ended up overlooking while reading.

The characters, both main and... more>> side, are a riot. They are so loveable and the way they act around each other is just fun and while I harped about how they aren't DEEP deep, but they are deep enough to be instantly memorable.

The plot doesn't take itself seriously but it still manages to wrangle emotions out of you when it needs to (probably because of my attachment to the characters). I had trouble starting this because the style of storytelling is not my cup of tea but it still managed to keep a vice on me thanks in part to the MC being absolutely hilarious. The gap between his real (wacky) thoughts and (dignified, respectable) actions/words is just entertaining and endearing, even if sometimes I want to strangle him.

Basically this novel has a lot of glaring faults but I believe you can look past each and every one of them as long as you love the characters and invoke suspension of disbelief. Once you do, you are in for a short, fun ride. <<less

Another dope novel of the same author, I tell ya it's worth mentioning and more than that it's cute and contain the little smut! I like everything about this novel despite many ppl criticizing this novel due to it being the early novel of the author, however if you really wanna give it a try just do it. Don't hesitate and don't take the hate comments to heart since we all have different tastes and different preferences, some ppl might like it rough and hard while others like it soft... more>> and gentle. It's the same thing regarding this novel. <<less

This is MXTX's first novel and I read it last after reading the other two. I must say the writing style has improved a lot with those. But this one is as incredible as the others especially if you pay attention to details. It is more leaning towards comedy than the other two novels. Every crucial event somehow turns comical situation which is the funniest.

I saw some reviews about earlier chapters being a little wild like the fights not being to the par of the cultivation novel but feeling like... more>> high schoolers are fighting or the MC's monologue's taking away from the cultivation world feel. But, that is what it is supposed to feel like. It is a novel inside the novel and the novel in the story is written by an amateur, there are plotholes, sometimes, the plot doesn't make sense, and all. And, the earlier chapters are like MCs take and review of the world, his commentary focuses on being an outsider in that world like how our perspective would be. This is very beautifully portrayed and later in the novel he does get completely invested in it, not feeling like an outsider or third person anymore.

Spoiler
[collapse]
One thing I didn't connect with was the romance. It kinda felt forced like there was no clear indication from SQQ's side. He was always running around trying to protect his life but he is suddenly hit with the love of LBH out of nowhere. SQQ does care for LBH a lot and is very affectionate and maybe that is what turned into 'like' for him but I don't think he's reached the point of 'love' yet. I feel like he has a long way to go and I wish we had gotten more of that in the extras.

But I feel like the extras provided more flesh and depth to the novel than the actual story did. The classic case of a hated 2D villain but with a dimension of the back story added, he isn't so detestable anymore but rather pitiful.

Spoiler
[collapse]
My heart literally broke for Shen Jiu (the original Shen Qingqiu) in the later chapters. My man suffered so much trauma and kept it all inside. When you learn that he didn't deliberately kill Liu Qingge and the sect leader (I forgot his name), that he didn't want them to die..... I cried. Then, the fact that he wasn't a rapist or had bad intentions towards any woman but rather felt more comfortable in the presence of a female than a male due to his childhood abuse........ Oh my god! I feel like Shen Jiu is the most interesting character with more depth in the entire novel but sadly he was only in the extras. He too had abandonment issues like LBH. The only thing wrong about him was his bad temper and jealousy. What he did to LBH was very wrong but he got way more pain and suffering than he deserved in the end. I want more of him, he didn't deserve to just die. He was too valuable of a character. I feel like the original SQQ and original LBH would have been more intriguing. <<less
