One day, I was summoned to this world.

Beasts poured out, and an incredible crisis came.

My talents couldn’t have been worse.

[The player’s talent level is at rock bottom.] [Almost all the numbers are hopeless.]

Whether you have to become a warrior or a wizard.

Whether you’ve gone back in time.

You have to take advantage of everything in order to survive.

Have you ever wanted a manipulator that controls what's happening around him. Are you tired of those fake ones, where the only way the MC can manipulate others, is by lowering their intelligence. Well, here you are - a story for you!

The world doesn't dance to his whims, many things go wrong. He is a douchebag manipulator - not God. Yet, knowing his true personality (which is pure tr*sh) and seeing him pretend he is good, always bring a smile to my face. He pinned a mu*der on a psychopath,... more>> selled drugs to another city, kidnapped and held a child hostage - yet, everyone perceives him to be good. It's honestly hilarious.

The only "cheat" he has, is that abnormal (crazy) women fall in love with him really easily. This does not give him a 1D-harem. Instead it gives him a whole lot of powerful yandere stalkers women who might kill him at any point should he say the wrong thing.

You should really give it a go! <<less

This series is amazing! At first, I was looking for a novel after Second Coming of Gluttony ended, and I found this gem! The world setting is similar to SCOG whereby ppl have to pass a tutorial before being able to go to an open world with many countries (but not being able to return to earth). The MC is a schemer, one of the best-written schemer I have read. Even though the MC is a self-admitted tr*shy human who would do anything to achieve his goals, he is actually... more>> softhearted to his friends and respects them for who they are, contrary to his inner monologue. <<less

If you like MC that is scum then you will enjoy this novel.

I prefer MC's that are gray. He knows what he needs, he is willing to get his hands dirty. He manipulates the people around him to do his bidding.

I wouldn't be surprised if a bl tag gets added in the future. Haha. The thoughts of the MC towards the regressor is confusing sometimes. Maybe you can call it a man crush?

Honestly, I started reading this because I thought the MC was the regressor cause of the title. I... more>> was pleasantly surprised as I continue to read. It was a nice twist to the story.

His harem is also entertaining. They are full of crazies. :P <<less

Great junk food. Scumbag manipulative MC, yandere love interest, classic Korean isekai with game system. Translation is fine, no immersion-breaking plotholes or characters. Honestly, just a great read if you're looking to burn some time.

Is a decent novel but with a lot of BS happening all the time, is one of those novels that you have to turn of your brain to enjoy, but at the same time it haves a ton of politics in the story so yeah is a weird combination, the main point of this novel is the comedy and the fact that the MC is a villain pretending to be a good guy, if you like the idea give it a chance.

The story is about ppl getting isekaid in a... more>> cruel world where the strong decide who live or die, there is a system and status but they are literally useless, is just there to bring ppl who like novels with a system to read it, I dropped this novel in the war arc because at this point of the novel it just keep repeating the same trope over and over again but with a increase of BS so I got tired of it. It's worth to read about 300 chapters and then leave. <<less

I dropped this because of the main character, nothing else.

The other characters were great, the character development was great, the story was great, the world building was great. All in all, I would say this is a great story, except for one very important thing. The main character is a chronic dickhead with no hope for salvation.

He’s politics smart, romantic smart, sometimes even battle smart but man does he he have some personality issues that he needs fixed.

If you can handle the MC then I’d thoroughly recommend this but I... more>> just couldn’t stand his attitude any longer and dropped, <<less

Ok. 1st thing. I LOVE tr*shY MCs so if you like CALCULATIVE/MORALLY DUBIOUS/SMART AF MCs, youd like our boi Kiyoung.

2nd thing. I hate HAYAN. She ruins the scenes. I tried to tolerate her I truly did but theres no saving this OBSESSIVE STALKING R+PING BISH.

lastly, our dear regressor.. How I wish this was a BL instead. It would be mentally and physically safer for our boi kiyoung to be with him instead. Just look at kiyoung collecting yandere sick wahmen left and right like grass pokemon.

Im skipping a lot of... more>> chapters with hayan cuz she really ruins it for me but am staying to see our hyunsung grow and how hed save the word this 2nd round but dang this pokemon collecting thing rly sucks. <<less

Crazy.

Take your standard medieval isekai dungeon/guild setting, make every character crazy in some aspect, and turn ALL confrontations into a political struggle. This is such a WILD ride.

Spoiler

In the first arc, the MC party tackles a dungeon with another party, and suddenly, it becomes a mindgame of how to backstab the other party first. Granted, the opposing party had a "Calculative Killer" aptitude, BUT our party enters the dungeon with the mindset of pre-emptive mu*der.

Spoiler

In my current chapter of ch 59 where a bunch of top guilds send their newbie squads together in a group exercise to gain some experience in a easy dungeon, the title is named "Dungeon attacks becomes a political war." I'm already so hyped for that arc from the title alone.

Edit: This author can't write satisfying inter-personal relationships to save his life. At least he can write interesting story progression. <<less

Nice and different spin on being summoned to another world as the companion of the op hero regressor, rather than being the hero. Not a bad story and has interesting characters and interactions, but ultimately wasn't for me. Still a good KR novel so I'm leaving it as a 3.

Spoiler

Scheming happens more than battles. It gets a bit touched on later on, but MC and co had a very privileged time as adventures. They didn't have to constantly dungeon dive and take up jobs to survive. Additionally they had the full support of on of the biggest guilds. One arc made it a point to show the MC he had little clue how to dungeon in a normal party like having to walk to destinations and work well with people not OP talented. They did tackle a few dangerous situations, but they are far removed from the adventure lifestyle and closer to kingdom building and politics.

It is an interesting and pretty good series. I lost interest in the series at around 640 but thought it was just a small slump/plot hole in the story so I read 10 more ch. It lost me at that point, so I'm dropping it for now.

Spoiler

Things were going too smoothly and a certain event with the sword's selection ceremony should not have logically happened. Knowing his personality, all candidates should have been looked upon with the info eyes. This plot hole is too big for my mind to overlook considering the events that happen because of that plot hole.

Early on this was a pretty good off beat MC story.

It's a little light on details and world building. All that is merely kind of nebulous while the story focuses on the tr*sh MC trying to survive a rough transmigration and the relationships he builds/manipulates. Some action but it is definitely not the focus.

He has no outstanding skills aside from special eyes to 'see' some statuses and the will to do whatever he needs to survive. He is also pretty 'human' in that he is not insanely clever or insanely... more>> driven. Sometimes he identifies a future problem but gets swept up in other things and it bites him in the ass. It is full of good (reasonable) flaws.

I know it's a lot to ask, but around c300 the series blows up from 'pretty good' to 'fantastic'. The arcs are nicely self contained, they escalate in a good manner, and the twists are intelligently thought out.

I would recommend reading a bit, and if you like it, read more! It only gets better. <<less

I agree with most of the comments in WhimsicalWrongdoer's review: the POV can switch without explanations, the world building does not make lots of sens, most of the secondaries characters are not well written and full of stereotypes, there is a huge lack of explanations on how work the magic or classical skills, and the author just give us "stats" that does not make sens most of the time when compared with the fighting abilities, etc...

As you can guess, there is a huge lack of coherence to fully enjoy the... more>> reading...

I think you should try to read it if you've never read a novel with a total bast*rd MC: he is a complete scum who will always act to either save his life or to screw other because he feels like it. This MC is not that evil compared to other MC like in WMW or Daoist Gu, but he is quite rotten.

Surprisingly I quite enjoyed him scheming against other "evil" characters or when he tries to corrupt other characters, at least in the early chapters, especially the encounters between the MC and some of the women, as some of theses are quite unexpected at the beginning. So I guess it is worth a try to read this novel. <<less

It's a very very very good book! I love how the MC manipulates the people around him thinking every situation throughly in order to get the best outcome. For himself! Or the people around him... But that is indirectly helping himself. And his bromance with our dear regressor <3 I absolutely love such relationships. I don't know why maybe I got bored of the old good love harem consisting of girls praising the protagonist. That's why it's nice to have a harem with psycho girls and a nice shy regressor... more>> friend who's not good at human relations. The book is absolutely lovely and funny <<less

This is one of my favorite bingable novels. The main character is a delightful scumbag who does great things using despicable means. It's hard not to root for Lee Kiyoung even though it is clear he is tr*sh. Without spoiling anything, I am impressed how the plot keeps moving forward. In most korean novels everything centers around the main character and the side characters are usually forgotten, but this novel uses outside forces and personalities and really interweaves it into the story.

The posting rate of the chapters by... more>> the translator is great, and the translation quality/ writing level is high. If you are a fan of Korean novels you will love this one. <<less

RIM is an exemplary and engaging korean novel. The setup is similar to various isekai with game elements and a decidedly dark tone. The story is told from the viewpoint of Lee Kiyoung, who is ostensibly not the main character. Though RIM isn't particularly lacking in side character development and depth, Kiyoung tends to carry the series with his high dark triad scores (machiavellianism in particular). Readers are left with mixed feelings of pity and schadenfreude for Kiyoung's allies and enemies alike before his schemes, shamelessness, and manipulation. Kiyoung's sentiments,... more>> or lack thereof, regarding his allies and himself are still largely ambiguous due to his intentional attempts at self deception and doublethink for the purpose of deceiving others.

Romance, while technically frequently present, is steeped in "corruption" and best described as playing with fire; resembling more of a horror/thriller, where Kiyoung seems at times the hunter and at others, the prey. "Bromance", on the other hand, is more strongly developed as of this chapter with frequent in world rumors and jokes; though there is little indication of actual development in that direction from the meta narrative thus far.

Setting and world building are thus far lackluster and generic. RIM is a by the book high fantasy setting with a few game elements sprinkled in. In terms of setting, having this novel be an isekai has thus far been gratuitous and irrelevant; there is little if any reference to the lives of characters before on Earth or their families. It is often difficult to tell which characters are even from Earth or natives of the fantasy world, aside from ethnicities explicitly expressed or implicitly through their names. As for genre building, just as initially darker isekai tend toward as they develop, RIM has gone from the survival thriller elements of the intro to a power fantasy of the main story. While Kiyoung is certainly far from the strongest character in the story, plot elements outside his grasp seem fewer as the story goes on. While this isn't unreasonable by itself it does lend to a diminished sense of tension as the plot progresses. It is yet to be seen if this is a temporary lull or plateau in the overall narrative. Nevertheless, Kiyoung and his schemes are able to carry the plot through the lulls.

Overall, RIM allows readers to vicariously indulge in the dark pleasures of scheming, manipulation and shamelessness of the protagonist; along with a great translation speed and quality, RIM is certifiably binge worthy. <<less

This novel is really good compared to many of the series that are on novelupdates. If you enjoy Dungeon Defense, MEMORIZE, or Second Coming of Gluttony, you'll most likely love the novel. It has an atmosphere like MEMORIZE and SCOG while having an MC who acts closer to the mindset of Dantalian from Dungeon Defense. The MC is 'weak' so he relies heavily on psychology and strategy to win his battles like Dantalian. Overall its very enjoyable so far and I can't wait to see how this novel continues. I have never liked a son of a beach like Kiyoung in my entire life, and here I am reading this novel till this far (and probably will continue to do so)

Author portrayed "humanity" just too well. Lee Kiyoung, as the main character have all the negative qualities of a normal human would have. Of course some traits are 'spiced up' for the sake of the plot but Kiyoung potrayed most of the negative qualities we have, while most other MC only portray good ones, or extremely f*cked up... more>> ones.

Some of them include :
Spoiler

- how can we humans twist the facts according to our needs
- how we lies for our personal gains
- how we endlessly seek trust / acceptance from others
- and a lot more

I can read this just for the MC alone, and they got YANDERE GRILLS? count me up fam <<less
