So far it's ok, I like Gary Sue novels so I'm ok with him being OP. My biggest complaint is the author will praise the MC for paragraphs, repeatedly and it got old fast. I am convinced Chinese authors get paid by the word as they take way more paragraphs and chapters to tell (yes tell, not show or hint) something simple.

Don't think I'm interested enough to mess with MTLing, but will probably continue if it's ever translated again.

Also what's up with the revenge? It gets forgotten so I forget,... more>> then will randomly be re introduced. I would have rather our MC gave up on revenge early on to live his best life or showed more interest in getting revenge. <<less

I feel like screaming inside my head. This book is soo good!! It's like Rebirth of a movie star and Rebirth of a supermodel, smashed into one book!! Absolutely loved it.

But I'm not so satisfied with the endings of the villains, although it was satisfying to see how XZ and SSB tearing at each other after CDK's death.

The love story is absolutely adorable tho.

I'm not quite the type for showbiz, but this one was quite good.

Romance is quite nice, the ML is a quite possessive character? Not to the point where it would need tags but he's easily jealous. The MC is gentle? Quiet? Its funny to see the MC turn from sweet to cold after he got close with the MC (It's not that he's rude, it's just that he shows his natural behaviour in front of him instead of putting up a font).

The showbiz part is quite normal, but not full... more>> of plot holes. The revenge part is forgotten little by little by the MC, a bit typical, but it's carried out better than other forgiven revenge novels.

Its quite a cute novel, if I had to say something really bad about it, it would be that it's focused on the job a lot. It would be interesting if the job was really challenging or not typical, but it's a bit boring how smooth the MC's job was. It wasn't to the point where I was skipping chapters, but there were definitely a few chapters which made me consider dropping the novel.

the main character suffers from a deliberate betrayal from the people he trusted. As I say, its one of the common trope but the author did a good job in utilizing it. The hatred of the said main character cannot easily be pacified and through this betrayal that had led to his untimely death because someone just turned a yandere. Just like the typical transmigration novel, the main character was given the second chance, to seek revenge and walk his way to recapture the entertainment industry.

Right now, your gonna enjoy his walkthrough to his second chance in life. You'll definitely enjoy the attention to details the author gave to the rise of our main character. So you should definitely, read this novel and please do not be disappointed just because this is a boy's love novel. As I can see the plot slowly thickens as he seeks revenge and of course the love between his love interest will be worth witnessing. For now, it is still at an earlier phase but I assure you, you won't be disappointed. <<less

The novel is good, especially the flow at the start of the novel but I don't like the ending/extras. I don't like how it was handled, it feels dull and rushed.

Another thing I don't like is how most of the main character's (Luo Ding) movie always have the male lead in it. I already know that they're gonna be together at the end but can you not please? And most of the movies he's always the male supporting actor. I don't know how to call it, favoritism or what but... more>> it's not right.

Moving on, the novel is still a good read if you didn't get triggered of anything.

I'm going to be very nice and give it a 3 stars... the starting point was interesting but then the story itself is SUPER BORING. There are many reasons why this is not so well written... basically this type of novel will only catch audience attention and keep them reading if there is a lot of drama and face slapping or if the MC character is well developed or both of what was mentioned... but this story has none of those.

His singing skills are 400% better than any singers. His acting skills are 100000% better than any actors. Even the best Hollywood director is speechless in front of his SUPER skills... in this sense, there is absolutely no room to develop the MC so the readers can suffer with the MC and learn to love the MC. Usually, if the author is going in this route where the author is going to make the MC SUPER OP to the point that even his fart smells good, then there have to be a lot of drama and face slapping involved so the story can keep the readers reading... but there was almost no drama and the love between MC and ML is so mellow that I feel no anticipation for the two to get together.

Also, I feel that the author does not understand human's emotion well when writing this novel. For example, the MC's death was downplayed so much that no one care about his death beside his husband who cheated on him who feel a little guilty. The MC himself feels nothing about his down death... he woke up 5 days after he died and all he did was check weibo to confirm his death news, sneer, and forgot about his death.... this lack of emotion in writing makes the audience/reader also feel nothing about his death. I would imagine that if you died and your soul get transferred into another body, you would go through complex emotion and even felt the need to confirm your death before you admit your new identity... at least confirm where your grave is, lol. He doesn't even care about his body or where he was buried. This lack of emotion in writing also hurt the relationship between MC and ML so the love was not really felt through the novel.

The good thing about this novel was that there was not a LOT of weibo comments, lol. I remember reading a entertainment BL novel where half of the novel was just weibo comments on how amazing the MC is... that was horrible. <<less

It was a fresh take on the second chance genre where the MC doesn't focus on revenge and instead grabs the chance to build a new life. Good novel. I recommend. Romance was a bit slow and I wish there wa s’more face slapping. Although the two villains destroyed themselves, I wanted MC to get a more personal revenge but that’s just me. I really enjoy this authors work! Do check out their other works if you haven’t :)

I am extremely fond of CN entertainment industry genre. There is, however, a standard format that novels of this genre tend to follow and it can become boring after reading the nth time.

Written in 2014, this is one of the older OP feel good novel of the genre. The novel starts with a bang with dogblood scenario. Nevertheless, this is not a revenge or faceslapping story and it definitely follows the standard format. The writing style is also more detailed so even though this has 93 chapters (plus extra), it... more>> is longer as some chapters are double the length of usual novels. This can be quite exhausting to read as the author hadn't quite developed the skills of writing succinctly at that time.

As a OP feel good novel, do expect the usual unbelievable success rate of the MC. For acting, this is fine as MC is a top rated actor in his past life, but there is a component of singing that I honestly feel the author should have just removed. The plot of the acting drama/movie is rather average to me. Due to these factors, the novel is bloated especially in the middle part.

The romance is slow burn due to the traumatising events that happened to MC in chapter 1. ML is the usual bland CN vinegar top (with a slight dash of inappropriateness - hello why are you staring at someone in their sleep in their bedroom where you enter through a hidden entrance). I do like that due to their age difference and upbringing, MC (40+, live in conservative china his entire life, and in a hidden relationship for 27 years!) and ML (30, grew up in Switzerland) have very different views on coming out and being in a homos*xual relationship. They do take some time to reconcile on this difference before getting together.

Although I have been complaining a bit, I do actually like the novel and I find the romance kinda sweet. This is a 3.5 novel, and worth reading over a period of time.

Finally, the translation is actually good. I will recommend to read the translation and not MTL unless you can read the raws (also darn! JJ for locking some of the chapters! I had to pirate to find those chapters) <<less

Another delightful ML! Despite the overly aggressive initial dynamic, these two quickly become harmonious. The ML is foolish from time to time, and tries really hard to respect the MC's boundaries. The one time he f*cks up is actually during a scene shoot, which while stressful due to the MC's fears of his sexuality being discovered, is also pretty safe because nothing can come of it. The MC actually straight up rejects the ML immediately following this, but the ML is nothing if not persistent without being gross about it.

His side account almost gets blocked by the MC, and the ML actually does block one of his own fans that climbed the wall and tried becoming a girlfriend fan for the MC hahahahaha

the antagonists.... are really disgusting. I don't really feel like they're antagonists despite their part in killing the MC, though, because they aren't malicious to the MC in his new identity and the MC actually ignores them and by the time he's powerful enough not to immediately get squished by them, he more or less no longer cares about them because they're both so pathetic. So mostly the story is about MC living well, rather than face-slapping and defeating his previous life's enemies. I'm happy for him, but their fate really is too cheap. <<less

I just genuinely love this novel. I love ML loves the MC sooooo much. I’m just waiting for the rest of the novel to translated. Definitely reread worthy!

There are times when I have the intense curiosity to see characters from novels in manga form or animated; and this is one of them. Orrrr maybe fan art (;•͈́༚•͈̀) of the pictures the main CP and/or snipets of their work life. That was because description of what’s happening was detailed and lively ~ (˘▾˘~)

i got hook for how MC beat up that cheater. But more n more I felt this novel is so tiring to read.

• the writing style just not my style. how the author describe every action, every node on every plot really got me no imaginary when reading it. Its to over detail n over describe that its annoying n tiring to read for me.
• they focus more on the job description than MC life problem. (Well MC was said as a workaholic) but how almost every problem outside the job was just brush away is a bit to much for me as a reader. Felt like asking "why dont you just make it biografi aspiration than a romance novel?"
