Ji Qingzhou crossed into a book of dogblood scum and abuse. There were two choices in front of him.

A: Choose the genuine slag Gong in the original book, and start a sadistic and abusive romance with Fang Yaoxuan filled with domestic abuse, a dead mom, and leaving the entertainment circle.

B: Choose the cannon fodder Villain, Chu Cheng, and be free of the slag Gong forever.

Ji Qingzhou wordlessly chose B without a second thought.

Chu Cheng was of distinguished birth and became the head of a popular company at a comparatively young age. He had seen many beauties in the entertainment circle but just happened to be fond of Ji Qingzhou.

A friend asked him, “Do you like this little star?”

Chu Cheng shook his head. “No, just playing with him.”

Outside the door, Ji Qingzhou nodded. Yes, that was what the book said.

A few months later, Ji Qingzhou was walking away while answering the phone, when he overheard someone saying, “Ji Qingzhou? Oh, Chu Cheng is just playing with him. Once he’s played enough, they’ll split.”

Ji Qingzhou was just about to nod, but then he heard Chu Cheng’s furious reply: “Nonsense! Which bastard told you that! Doesn’t he know that those who disturb a marriage will be kicked by a horse!”

Ji Qingzhou: ??? Wait, no, this is not what the book said!

A pretty nice, calm slice-of-life story, with a dash of dog blood. Got a bit tedious towards the second half, once the original novel's conflict points were resolved. The characterization is somewhat missing; it's hard to imagine what any of the characters do outside of their on-screen time. The relationship between ML and MC is pretty fluffy and sugar coated.

One of my favourite novels. Have reread it multiple times. Be warned, it's extremely slow burn... And the lead couple is not perfect. But they are one of the most likeable and realistic couples I've met in BL books.

The translation quality is also high. Recommend 👍

Chu Cheng is dumb as hell but also I am in love with him.

Seriously joking aside, his respect for his partner's wants (to the point of waaaaay overthinking) is really admirable and he's very adorable in love, I was very charmed by his character. And MC is a very chill kinda dude, which I tend to like also. I can relate to his go with the flow attitude towards life, it's relatable to me so I can't help but like him.

Also, I see some people had pacing issues, but personally... more>> I did not. I tend to like slice of life and relaxed stories, so this was perfectly fine for me. It was much, much more laidback than some novels that go plot beat for plot beat without any breaks. Which again, I am totally fine with. Docking a star just because I wasn't really interested in/enthralled by the villains or the conflicts outside of the main couple, it was all window dressing to me. The relationship was the focal point. <<less

I had high expectations since I had just finished the author’s other work “I am the villian’s father”, which I absolutely loved. This started off okay and I liked the interactions between them but gradually the plot went haywire after they officially got together. It felt like the author was writing just for the sake of adding in words and the events really had no meaning to them. For the people saying it’s too slow, I disagree, I felt like they were progressing at a realistic level at first and... more>> then in the later third of the story things were getting resolved in like 2 chapters. I did enjoy the first half of the story though, and I think the author just got pressured to keep churning out chapters in the later parts. <<less

This is such a lovely love story, really makes you root for the characters!

Might be a bit slow at times, yes, but that's the charm and the whole point of this novel. A slow and thorough relationship between the MC and ML to build a rock solid foundation for their love.

The MC might come across as passive, or docile, but he isn't. He can and will smash tou to smithereens if he feels so inclined, but he usually doesn't want to cause trouble, since the entertainment circle is such a... more>> complicated environment to navigate.

The ML is and is not your typical President. He does take care of the MC, but only when he really needs it, doesn't intervene in his life unnecessarily.

All in all, until now, this novel is 100% woth reading if you like fluffy love stories with some villain comeuppance and some face slapping sprinkled in for flavour. <<less

I don’t really know why everyone didn’t like ML but for me ML n MC are the best and for the romance, I didn’t even felt that it’s slow which rare as I’m rather impatient is this case.
Both MC n ML fall for each other slowly with time. There’s no forced relationship.
The interactions between them are really cute.

I like this novel.

The romance on this is slow but understandable since MC and ML has a 1 year contract.

There is no mental abuse here. The contract they have was agreed by both parties. And take note, ML didnt do it with MC for the whole year. ML dotes on MC but in his mind set, it is normal as a backer but, heck.. even his friends dont believe his bullsh*t lol. His brother have to remind him that he could fall but ML always said that he wont.... more>> Which became a big face slap to him and a black history. His friends even tease him about it in the future. lol.

There are lots of chapters made me cry, specially months before they end their contract and after that. The story of MC's friend Ying Nian also breaks my heart. But what I like about MC and YN, they are strong willed.

Spoiler

I really feel sad for MC cause he fell in love before their contract expires. He cannot let ML know his feelings cause he agreed not to fall. He had lots of bitter moments.

What I like about MC, he is a strong and rational person. When he ask ML to do it cause he wants his first with ML, ML rejected him, ML doesnt want to take advantage of him. MC cried the next day but then resolutely decides to hide his feelings. 2months before their contract expires, he decided to rent a house for himself in Ying Nians community without telling ML. He started to limit their intimate action.

The day their contract expires, ML bought an apartment for him then gave him a house key. He accepted it but ML found out when he came back home that MC didn't bring it. MC left all the things ML gave him, the house key and even the car key. He just kept the bottle of stars and the jade necklace.

After end of contract, ML encountered the biggest face slap. ML found that MC rented an apartment 2months ago without telling him. He have too much complicated feelings. He still want to be friends with MC and care for him but MC clearly tell him that he is an independent person and could take care of himself. MC doesnt want ML to care for him cause he decided to move on. This part of the novel made me cry multiple times.

I really like MLs friends, they made him realize that he really love MC even from the beginning. They are very supportive of this couple.

After too much drama, (yes, they encountered lots of hurt and pain, they lost contact for almost 3months and the Fang crazy sh*t bastard made an attempt to harm MC), MC and ML starts to have a proper relationship which made everyone relieved (their friends and colleagues cant believe that they "broke up". I pity the friends cause they ate too much dog food lol.

They often tease ML by telling MC what MLs life after they separate. He has lots of black history and face slap. A friend told him in their group chat " I knew you like him but you are just being s*upid". His friends really are funny.

Before they officially came out, MC confess his biggest secret. Yes! He told ML that he transmigrated! Since they are in a proper relationship, he knew that they should trust each other and be honest with one another.

Im glad that the parents on both sides didnt make it hard for them.

Another character I like in this novel is Ying Nian, he has a very bitter life but optimistic and supportive to MC. His ex boyfriend cheated on him multiple times and when they break up, the ex doesnt accept it. The ex keeps pestering him. His story is very sad, they are together for almost 8 years, he had hopes that they will end together but his efforts are wasted. He is a very caring friend of MC and hopes that MC not to encounter the same mess he have with his previous relation ship.

He once told MC "dont show the other person that you love them so much.... They will took your feelings for granted. "

When ML and MC got together Ying Nian believe that if his friend found his happy ending, he will also get it if he work hard.

Im glad he found love with one of MLs friend.

It maybe slow at the beginning. But I recommend to read this novel <<less

I adore this novel. There are so many likeable characters so you can take your pick.

The MC is calm and rational, not the weak damsel in distress and ultra-dense shou type that is sometimes written about in novels. The ML may be the rich CEO type, but he is not cold. The opposite is the case as he is so accommodating and respectful towards the MC, never going against his wishes. He is basically everyone's dream lover. The plot itself was interesting and kept me engaged with angst and fluff in just the right places. The only time I clinked out and took a break from reading was during the first variety show the MC and ML did together. I don't blame the novel, though. I just have the attention span of a goldfish and read several novels at the same time and tend to take breaks from one while I binge read others. But when I came back to this novel, I still remembered the plot and how much I liked it so you can figure that the plot is memorable.

The only time I was like "???" was during the extra chapters.

Spoiler

I mean where did that big brother pop out from? Did I just forget about him because of my reading break? And was it just bad mtl or was the brother able to get pregnant? Let me tell you, I was confused, still am. But okay, whatever.

Also, the xianxia/xuanhuan development managed to throw me for a loop, too. It was cute, though.

On the plus side, I adored Ying Nian's story. His ex s**ked so screw him. But I am happy that Ying Nian got his happy ending, too.

[collapse]

Would highly recommend this novel if you like more mature BL romances with no party being overly dense and s*upid except for NianNian's ex. If you wanna find out why I dislike this insignificant character so much, you should also read this novel. You might wanna throw hands, but I assure you, you won't regret reading this.

Short and light read. Like the author’s other stories, the MC is smart and very loveable. ML is very kind and understanding. Great way to pass time!

A really good read!
MC is calm and clever and ML is doting and caring. I like the side ships and the angst. Perhaps a bit slow but from the start even before their relationship is official they respect each other and are lovey dovey.

I was pretty confused by the driving analogies but it doesn’t take away from all the fluffy moments.

It was all good, till I realized that he is a white flower that needed a rescue from the bad wolf prince.... ewww... stereotypes are sometimes interesting but in that case a killer in any thrill to read further.

Not too good.

Very slow chapters and slow updates. Usually I'm fine with this if chapters sustain my appetite and attention but this makes me lose interest.

Compared to other BL novels.... This is not too good.

I don't say much only that it's a good story easy and pleasant to read. Not overly drama or misunderstanding.

If you're like me and can't wait to read forward, this novel is easy to MTL (。•̀ᴗ-) ✧

I'll wait for the translator to advance more chapters to read the translate version.

A quite interesting transmigration read where this time the MC ended up in an actual 'mc' role within the 'novel world' albeit the fact that the novel is actually one of those tr*sh novels where nothing makes sense ^U^

Very light hearted, easy going and the MC is also incredibly likeable who doesn't really follow the norms. Similarly, the ML is also interesting in his own right, though you may probably dislike him at first thinking that he is a total frivolous type of guy but in reality he's pure and... more>> very straightforward in what he wants.

Translation quality is also superb *thumbs up* =^w^= Love the unique twist of this story! <<less

ROMANCE [5/5]

For a change this novel has one of the most sane MLs out there. For people who got tired of scum gongs you'll meet a successful, attentive and loving ML. Although the plot is based on their own inability to accept their feelings (MC knows he loves ML, but due to their contract he doesn't want to raise his hopes up, ML never loved before and doesn't realize his feelings at the start). They have very respectful and nice relationship and they both cherish each other a lot, striving... more>> to be better and be equal. Lots of moments are really sweet and make you feel nice.

PLOT [3/5]

Did I enjoy the plot? Not really. It's the entertainment circle and most of the events keep happening here and there. Like the last chapters about variety show sounded like the novel I finished recently. Most ups and down don't dwell too much. I also couldn't appreciate that it feels draggy at times, while using almost identical situations and repeating scenes, which also had the similar sense (e.g. When someone threatens to pull investment Chu Cheng talks and reveals his identity and everyone gets a slap on their face, it happened several times). I personally like dogblood drama, honestly, and when the novel lacks it I feel a bit disappointed that I didn't get my dosage of glass and knives. What I also feel sorry about is that both main antagonists were killed before the ending of the novel, while at first they were the main "threat", which self-liquidated as a result. <<less

EDIT: Another translator is now translating this project and doing a much better job. I take back my complaints, and I raised the rating from my initial 4/5 to 5/5.

Old comment:

I really like it, but there's one issue I have. What is the name of the scum gong? Because the translator doesn't keep it consistent. In one paragraph of chapter 2, he has three different names: Fang Yixuan, Fang Xuanxuan and Fang Yaoxuan. I quoted the paragraph in the spoilers beneath. It isn't spoiler-y at all, but I figured it's... more>> better to be safe than sorry so it's hidden behind spoilers.

The summary calls him Fang Zhaofei, which is yet another name.

I would consider this a 5/5 stars if the name problem were fixed. I'm not sure if this is an issue on the writer or translator's part, but if it was the writer, I think the translator would have corrected it, so I'm suspecting it's a case of the translator not editing the machine translation as thoroughly as it should have been.

Here's the paragraph I mention just above, with the three names:

Spoiler

Fang Yixuan liked the "Ji Qingzhou" in the book, because he totally regarded the "Ji Qingzhou" as his new substitute for his White Moonlight "Luo Yu". Before "Ji Qingzhou" cohabited with him, Fang Xuanxuan could still pretend to be a normal human being, but after cohabitation, the scumbag in him was revealed. For five years, a raised dog could still wag its tail at you, raising a Fang Yaoxuan could only bite you, and the wounds were bloody.

Completed the main story and about ten chapters of extras and it was cute. The focus was primarily on the relationship between MC and ML. The background antagonists didn’t last long. There are so many extras and are fun to read.

first, the male lead's immature and slow comprehension was maddening. This type of story was done before, almost cliche, but sill it brought in some fresh perspective. It was a bit silly, considering it's a bit shallow but shows some depth from time to time. The interaction between the MC and ML was worth it, it was cute and sassy. There was not much drama involved just simple play of emotion which worked well with this story.",)

Edit bc I can't stand some of the comments: what's wrong with helping a victim who is also someone you know? What's wrong to decide what you think its the best for your mental health?

Spoiler

the ML helped MC a lot of times, I think that the most of the times. But that doesn't make him (mc) useless (they weren't together 24/7 to ML do everything for him) nor does make the ML invasive or forceful except at the trial and it was even kinda anticlimactic yet also shows part of who MC and ML are and their relationship

even more, I really liked how the MC decided not to act in a movie that endangered his mental health. I find insensitive and ignorant that some people said it to be unrealistic or talk bad about it when real life actors have died bc of it

[collapse]

I read the raws a long time ago but I couldn't finish it

I liked a lot of things of the novel, I disagree with the negatives comments that I have seen (however, adding responses to those would make this a really long comment)

Anyway, I didn't finish reading bc I felt like the way the author wrote something was belittling/invalidating certain type of r*pe victims

Spoiler

Two wrongs doesn't make one right

Even if it was refering to one of the villains: the other shou who I think it was the white moonlight of slag gong (let's just call him that bc I don't remember his name). It doesn't change that the slag gong was in a position of power, werever the white moonlight froze or didn't dare to defend himself (it's written in the slag gong pov, so...)

I think it happens after the climax so if this is really triggering for you, it may affect your experience
