Hyperthymesia. Those with this condition can remember every detail of their lives from something as significant as the world’s turning point to something as small and as insignificant as a minor fleeting thought. They cannot forget and their thirst for knowledge allows them to be considered genius in some senses.

Legend has it that Ji Yushi was this kind of genius.

In addition, it was said that he was gay and very beautiful.

As soon as the news that he was going to support Tianqiong’s seventh squad broke out, it sent everyone buzzing.

Everyone knew that the captain of the seventh squad, Song Qinglan, was a hoodlum and deeply homophobic.

He not only relied on his super-powerful abilities to become the dark horse on the battlefield in less than two years, but he also hates it when those at the top forced a flower vase* into his squad.

Sure enough, Song Qinglan announced in front of everyone, “Useful? Us brothers are going out there working ourselves to the bone, we don’t need a little genius who can only speedread quantum waves!”

Later.

The squad was forced into a dire situation during their mission.

That beautiful little genius calmly continued, every gunfire hitting the mark, his fighting power peaking.

Song Qinglan begged in front of everyone, “Adviser Ji, stay.”

In the end, he added, “I’ll work myself to the bone for you.”

*****

Ji Yushi had a secret.

He would often be awake at night, suffering from memory overload and recurring nightmares.

There was only one thing that could let him fall asleep peacefully.

And that was Song Qinglan.

*Flower vase: Someone who only looks pretty but can’t amount to much

Just a phenomenal story. One of those five stars that make you revaluate your five stars for other novels you have rated. It's so mind boggling and trippy y'all. I genuinely cannot give a well versed summary to this although everything makes sense. Which is great, because if a novel can be properly summed up in three sentences it's not that great.

If y'all have read, by chance, my reviews before, you'll know for the truly good novels I never give even a hint of spoilers. The true enjoyment about reading... more>> a high quality novel is uncovering every line of the story by yourself.

But I can say this: if you're worried about plot holes, there are none (that stand up to you unless you profusely analyze the novel; if you're worried about toxic relationships—there is a healthy and exciting relationship to come that is well paced; if you're worried about not understanding time concepts, don't worry I didn't at some point either but it's well explained and will definitely be informative to some extent.

Two bonus: Romance progresses beautifully and not at all quick. You also get have the gradual progression of implicit to explicit steamy scenes (just the structure of this whole novel it's written is beautiful).
So many plot twists that will have you yelling, "That's so TRIPPY!", while you throw your phone across the room.

One vague non spoiling Easter Egg: This novel is like it's idea of time itself. Author know exactly what she was doing and served. <<less

This novel deserves more than 5 stars.

Mind blowing storyline. It has mainly 3 story arcs followed by 2 arcs again. The space and time concepts leaves you with awe. I felt my brain going numb many times to understand what's going on, but it's also the exciting part of the story that drives you forward to know more.

The couple ML and MC both are strong and cute together. The story revolves around MC Ji Yushi who have Hyperthermia and his past and how he joins with ML's squad and solves... more>> the missions as well as falling in love. Their love story has a very steady pace where they encounter life and death together so many times and fell for each other throughout the process. Their team members are quite funny and gives warm feel to the couple. They all trust each other no matter what situation they are in. ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE READ!!!!! <<less

Reading this novel made me doubt my IQ. That's not because of braindead characters or plots or anything but rather because of the complexity of the plot. Eventually, I just turned off my brain and took everything at face value. This does not mean that the novel is bad. In fact, the opposite is the case. I really liked reading the novel.

The novel made many deep and complex topics subject such as the occurrence of time paradox during time travel, the question of what came first (causality) and fatalism. Unfortunately,... more>> due to my lack of understanding I could not always completely follow the main characters' train of thought and explanations and would thus be unable to point out any inconsistency or plot holes which I don't mind, honestly.

As for the main characters, they were really likeable and distinctively memorable. Characterization was done very well. The two main leads also experienced a good amount of character development which made them all the more vivid. Their relationship progress was more than just satisfying, it was perfect, not too fast nor too slow.

There were a few misunderstandings, but not the dog blood kind of misunderstandings that we are used to from Chinese webnovels but rather hilarious ones that lightened up the mood and gave timely comedic relief whenever needed or it fit into the story.

All in all, the characters and the plot tied together had my eyes light up for the first time like this in a long time. I think the last time I felt like this about a novel was when I read "The earth is online". <<less

All 15 of em who voted this 1&2⭐ come out! I just wanna have a talk🙂!! My smol brain can't even handle half the knowledge it's been fed but still this sh!t is so good I'm crying!!

The plot felt like a LokixMatrix level mindf*ck that I'd need to read atleast once more to comprehend fully. Every conjuncture and random conversation that the MC & ML have from the beginning have some importance in the mystery. It all gets stacked up like those domino games where they culminate to a bigger... more>> and complete picture at the very end.

The MCs chemistry is so amazing. The way they gradually and naturally went from mutual disregard to mutual trust and affection is so freakin beautiful! And that Confession!! It was one of the most direct confessions I've ever read/seen! The ML& team wasn't really homophobic as the summary led me to believe. If anything this chaotic bunch consist of a deeply closeted gay and a bunch of closeted fudanshi~ Though ML wasn't happy with a recorder joining a guardian team, it is understandable cause- imagine a 9-5 white collar worker joining the national basketball team via recommendation from superiors. As the team captain one would obviously be very miffed. But our MC is not a greenhouse flower who'll wilt under pressure. He holds grudges and made the ML more than make up for the slight!😏

The ending was a bit melancholic and bittersweet but to me it was perfect that way! And extras more than make up for the bittersweetness with the fluff. 100/10 do recommend a read! <<less

Many of the comments stated that this story has some plot holes, which I think is very reasonable.

Because all the things that includes "Time Travel" no matter if it's a novel or a movie, will definitely leave some hole even if it's just a small one.

So yeah no matter what people said. The fact that this story is already very well told will never be changed.

Besides that, this story itself is actually just use a normal theme in time travel things, because almost all of the theories used are fairly... more>> general theories.

But the perfect execution of the author when making the story is what makes this story a success and extraordinary.

Besides that I also really like how the author describes MC and ML, This is because the author can make the two characters connect and establish a relationship, without changing the basic innate nature of each character which is quite rare.

What's even more amazing is that because their nature doesn't change it should make the romance not stand out too much.

But the author is really great, because even though their nature still hasn't changed he/she still can make a romance that very attached.

Spoiler

Last, personally I really like how they portray MC's father.

Where at the beginning he was described as a pathetic figure, then later described as a mad scientist, and then again depicted as a picture of a person who is more concerned with the universe than his own child.

But in the end his true image is just a father who loves his son, but at the same time is bound by great responsibilities that make him only able to show his affection from the shadows.

One thing I can say about this is, it's so fcking good. There are parts that is confusing because this is about parallel universe and space and time. Some you might just able to understand after thoroughly reading and imagining the scenes. There are plot holes, but this plot holes aren't really that big and was understandable. The story line was complicated so I understand the author having a hard time and missing some things, however they were still able to explain some of those things so there were still... more>> some clearance made.

Spoiler

A part of the story that really made me shocked and also bothered up until now is the thought that Ji Yushi actually died in a parallel universe. I'm not really fond of any sad/angsty story so I rarely encounter protagonists dying in their own story. I mean I read stories of protagonists being reborn but that was a complete different thing because in this story, he died and the only solution will be going back in time to redo everything. However, I can't still get of my mind that in one universe he actually died and worse, died in another era. Anyways it was heartbreaking but him being alive while retaining those memories comforted me.

[collapse]

The story was really good that I will definitely reread this again in the future. They were both badass in their own way and the MC wasn't someone you can underestimate. He has both brains and strength. Might not be as physically strong as ML, but you wouldn't be able to bully him both physically and mentally unless you want to have a broken bone or broken mentality in the future. ML just like any other ML- is physically strong, but he is also on par with the MC's mentality.

They're both strong in both fields but while the ML is more on combat, MC's strong point is his intelligence which balance each other out. <<less

"No matter what the cause and effect was, no matter how one circle connected to another circle, it was enough as long as they were still together."

************

Thought I wouldn't really like it cuz I don't like sci-fi novels, BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY GOOD AND SATISFYING!

Mist really has that perfect balance, that perfect ratio, that perfect mix of mystery and romance. Ahhh, now there's this empty feeling cuz it ended TAT - but here's another to add to my re-read collection. Anyways, other unlimited flow that takes on a unique concept... more>> -> time paradox, timelines, parallel worlds, grandfather paradox and other sci-fi timesense logic + time travel logic. Although the complexity of time and space in this novel was very grand and sometimes confusing, but the author was able to bring every to a close, tying up all loose ends - everything mentioned was connected from beginning to end, just like a big circle, an Ouroboros (such a satisfying feeling when you realize everything is connected, everything that MC and ML encounter in the past, present or future fits perfectly together, wahhh).

MC and ML together is super cute! So lovely together! They really do rival the CP from GUEE (>.<) / Their homely scenes and interaction is just pure dog food! No matter what happens, they'll also find a way to be together again. There really isn't any words to describe just how _______ their relationship is, so you gotta just read!

World-building here was great! Other characters were also 3D and weren't used just a mob material! Seventh squad members are all too funny! Everything about this novel was perfect! So, go read :) <<less

Honest review:

Spoiler

As a science student, I was caught off-guard by the complex physics thrown everywhere. It'st entertaining to read about the author's personal take on the experiments and theories but I didn't come here to go revise dead topics, however cool it may sound. The novel way too much focuses on science relating time and space, that ended up stressing me instead of giving me relaxation I wanted as I searched for a novel that didn't have brain dead characters and emotional calamity for an MC. M

Translation was done exceptionally well, but because I felt like this was a fictional application of a physics book with leads I can't connect with, I'd reread face of devil, which is just enough relaxation with super cool op players.

The ML. Bro what is you? As I finished skim through, towards the end, I couldn't, with the essence of life, remember any impression of him, besides him being called cap song, not even his full name, lol. Now this is just sad. The whole of squad, I remember li chun for him being a slag. And the MC, han han? Because he is supposed to be my favourite dynamic, a calm, collected, op MC, stoic is appreciated, shamelessness, yes! But this, my guy, he... Was a wreck and continues to be a wreck. Lolol I didn't even read the smut towards the end.

I was very much s**ked into the physics part though but after ch 70, storyline died down to focus on the cp and 20 minutes later, I was in ch 88-89, another, really really complicated part involving linear time propagation and called it a read.

[collapse]

If you have time at your hand and like to read some awesome physics with coherent logics, and witness how far humans (this book, author) can go with imagination, for you.

If you want to read a chill and satisfying bl, which doesn't question your intelligence, keep looking and lemme know if you find one! My standards arent that high! Something like MDZS or QWFOD should do :D <<less

This novel was amazing and one of the best I have read in a while. The main couple is the cutest and their relationship wasn't rushed or too slow it was just perfect. Each "arc" was extremely well thought out and the worldbuilding was just amazing. The main character is overpowered but also human, the story does really well at showing this fact. The side characters are also great and I loved how great of a bond the team has. I have nothing but praise for this novel. It was... more>> just amazing! <<less

This is definitely a gem!

One of the best sci-fi setting and the plot is coherent and well written. The main character and ML also have their own proper personality and the romance is well paced.

Of course some of the concepts were confusing so I had to squeeze my braincells to understand but that is part of the charm.

For a novel about time travel, the author really skillfully ties the plot together and the characters growth and development of relationship is very well paced. I do have some questions in the... more>> end but I like the point where their story ended. It's really a great sci fi story. The plot twists were done right and the cliffhangers kept me unable to stop reading. I really recommend this novel to all sci fi lovers. <<less

DAMNNN!!!! IT'S AN ENTIRE CIRCLE, I TELL YOU.

It was very well-written. Readers who enjoy plots first smut later would love to read this. Though the one brain cell I had had to be squeezed ends upon ends since the concept of time was really too vast and confusing.

Yushi and Qinglan is a perfect match. Gong isn't homophobic per sé, and they both have amiable personalities to a certain extent. Side characters are also 3D. Loved their profiles. Romance doesn't get cemented until the latter half of the novel but I... more>> really liked the pacing! S*xual tension was there even in the first half tbh.

There were three major arcs and a last overall conclusive arc that tied all the loose ends. It was quite short for me but I enjoyed it.

There are some content warnings though, so be sure to read the tags. Gore is prominent in the first arc while it gets disturbing in the third arc because of reality. It's Yaoi in the last remaining chapters. The end was nice but it left me hanging a bit, but I understand why it had to be like that. Extras were pretty cute though!

Ps. I've started reading a lot of BL novels already, with MDZS being the first one (don't get me wrong, mdzs is lit!), but this is my first time completely finishing a novel with thr extras! <<less

Great bl

The puzzles are interesting, good mistery, no unecessary cannon-fodder, loved both ML and MC, I didnt get annoyed by the couple beeing too sticky like on some others I've read, no one-sided or non-consensual act by the ML and the MC was great in the way that there was no need for the s*upid nor unrealistic cute act (like the usual shou) for him to be interesting. I just could have used some more extras 😎.

Ps: the smexy stuff was great

Brain, brain, fly awayyyyyyy! Heaven's I thought I am going to burn all my brain cells reading this novel.

Kudos to the translator this novel that is not easy to translate, just imagine translating all that crazy arc, ugh! *Clap* *clap*

The writer is a pure genius, impressive I must say. Imagine the storyline, how many days did he/she researched those things. Wow! The twist of events, the mind boggling problems, just about everything here for me is perfect.

For the record, the 7th squad are nowhere homophobic at all. Their leader, Song... more>> Qinglan has his own reason why he doesn't want to take Ji Yushi to his group.

Spoiler

It's more of not wanting anyone to slow down the group because they're aiming for an S-lvl mission which is high risk and doesn't want anyone to get hurt because he always blames himself in the process. He felt that Ji Yushi is too fragile.

[collapse]

I love the 7th squad interactions, how they gradually accepted Ji Yushi and acknowledges the fact that he's not a "flower vase". JY is a total package beauty, brain and skills. Song Lan is handsome, very smart and arrogant but not a total jerk, imo. The other side characters are hilarious and c*ckblocker as a group. Lol

As for JY's dad, this might not be a popular opinion, but intellectuals/ geniuses think differently from normal people. He's no way a perfect dad but in the end he helps JY and SL to be together.

Spoiler

Also, I cried in the end. JY's father didn't really abandon him at all and JY realised this at the later part of the story. He's loved by his father and has been there for him all along

[collapse]

I love the story so much but I need to reread some part to totally understand the whole scenario. This might not be for everyone, but for me who loves easy story, fluff, meng and dog food, I say this is also a good read. Please do try. <<less

I am literally blown away by this novel! I honestly was a little hesitant about reading this initially, as the synopsis had put me off, but I'm glad I decided to give this a go.

Firstly, the storyline is immersive! The writer manages to craft the action and suspense really well. There were many times I jumped up and almost screamed because the characters were too cool while fighting. Several scenes were also described so vividly and beautifully that it took my breath away. The novel is also packed with a... more>> couple of twists and turns, so it was a pleasant journey reading through this book due to its sheer unpredictability.

The entire cast of characters were also well fleshed out, and no kidding, I felt so emotionally attached to them. I smiled with them, laughed with them and even cried with them. This just attests to the fact that this story is written so well. The arcs generally revolve around time travel, and there are quite a few science experiments and philosophical ideas referenced in this novel. Surprisingly, the author managed to not make it convoluted for the readers and explained logically so that we can follow. It does stands out from other novels in this aspect as each arc is pretty unique and doesn't use the conventional troupes seen in the unlimited flow genre. The writer evidently had spent a lot of time planning this novel before writing.

As for the ML being homophobic, this is greatly exaggerated in the synopsis in my opinion, so don't worry too much about it. He isn't really like that inside the novel. The main couple is absolutely great together. Their relationship develops at a steady and realistic pace and they have really cute moments together! Their confession scene almost made me blush ahhahah

All in all, this is not your usual unlimited flow novel. It has greatly impressed me and I will highly recommend this! <<less

The plot itself is great and compelling. It might seem a bit complicated at first with all the time and space theories and stuff but you will eventually get the hang of it.

I also love the character dynamics. The 7th squad are so funny and I loved how their friendship grew through their life and death experiences together.

I won't say much about the main couple, THEY ARE SO CUTE. And it was just a joy to see their... more>> relationship blossom.

This books is amazing!!😭. I love the characters. If you love survival, futuristic setting, mystery that is wrapped up so tightly your brain would go numb, pls read this book!

****

Ji Yushi gets drafted into the seventh squad as a temporary scout since the former teammate had an accident. At first he didn't want to. He was secured with his work as a Recorder.

... more>> But he was convinced by his chief to take this specific job.

The seventh squad is said to be quite homophobic, especially the captain. Ji Yushi certainly isn't gonna fit in this team... seeing as he was gay.

But he was smart, a genius, in fact. Due to some circumstances and (character setting and development by the author). He is able to far exceed the (low and non-existent) expectations of his teammates.

The ML isn't exactly homophobic as what was stated in the summary. It was more like he looks down on the MC. His job involves dangerous tasks and the safety of the team is his responsibility as a captain. Having someone who wasn't trained to be a guardian and had been added to the team made him think that it would become a burden when they go through the mission. The rate of success in each mission would lessen if one of the teammates can't pull their own weight. The difference between a guardian and a recorder is much like a front line soldier and a office clerk. Also, there is a big difference between the tasks of the two.

His biased opinion towards Ji Yushi will be set straight much faster than one expects. JYS is truly a genius and it shone right after they started the first mission. I love his characterization. Cool, calm, and beautiful genius. He holds grudges and since his memory is too good, whatever the ML once said to him, he manages to use it as a counter statement in the next argument, leaving Song Qinglan speechless all the time. And his strength as an individual, in terms of mental and physical capacity wouldn't lose out on the team. In fact his mental fortitude in the midst of all that is happening becomes the team's greatest benefit.

The story progresses in fast-paces. Guardians work involves danger. What if they die during a mission while in another time? What would happen to their present timeline? What would happen if they meet their past selves?

There's a lot of mystery in this book that needs to be unravelled. I had a hard time processing some parts so I reread several paragraphs most times, especially the explanation in the arcs.

It's a bit hard, mainly coz I wanted to picture out exactly what the author is telling thru her characters.

The plot of the story is truly unexpected. There are several theories about time, parallel dimensions and such, that are imbedded into the story. (Most of which I don't know wtf coz I didn't pay attention in my Physics class.🤣)

There are arcs that involve gore and cannibalism, so beware. I don't want to go into details coz it will spoil it a bit (I guess?). Seven major arcs that involves their mission and their own timeline, plus the transfer station chaps and the ending. The story transitions so smoothly in between arcs. I love how the author twisted the story and stretched the topic of time travel and the cause and effects of tearing through time and space to its utmost limit, making it believable.

The romance is gradually introduced. As soon as the bias against both characters get settled, the natural treatment of the CP towards one another as teammates who wants to survive all those dangers gets better. Don't expect automatic romantic relationship. The book is not just that. But, no worries, the author scattered dog food crumbs. Banter that always feels like flirting and such. Also, the rest of the seventh squad are hilarious af.

Li Chun, works on logistics who suffers from motion sickness, Old Duan, who does the control and is amazing with tech stuff. Zhou Mingxuan who deals with the machinery, the twins Tang Le and Tang Qi.

There are a lot of fluffy moments between the CP especially in the later chaps.. around 70sh. Probably some bits and pieces in the early chaps, but I can't think of them rn, coz my brain was too busy with a lot of stuff in those that included trying to calculate possibilities of the characters dying.🤣

There are flaws, of course, but in my reading case, the good outweighs those.... so READ IT! READ IT! READ IT! <<less
