Feels awkward when the author brings in president Joe Biden. Why the f*ck is the MC even talking to the president?

The entire convos feels forced.

It's also awkward that the enemy always seems to be tracking him.

I dislike the forced feeling the novel gives off... I guess it's "fate" or some such nonsense but it's very annoying

MC explains future knowledge as if it's no big deal, not even a single question even though what he talks about is months and years into the future where everything is going against a normal logical worldview

looked interesting in the first few chapters but that's about it, it seems to be going downhill quickly

anyways, I was just rating since it only has 5stars and it's barely a 4 sliding downwards... more>> to a 3 with only 13 chapters so far

seems like a standard Korean Dungeon in Modern Society novel <<less

The first few chapers were interesting but by the time he regressed the flow of the story just went downhill for me.

I really dislike how the MC discloses all the confidential information he knows and warn people not to snitch on him because history might repeat itself.

Like seriously, why can’t he just keep quiet about it? His loose lip / loose tongue would be the reason of his downfall. Unless the author gave him plot armor to protect him.

It feels like I got genre bait and switched.

The story starts off as a generic gate story. Set in Korea, monsters have appeared in the world via gates and the world has adapted into a society of awakeners / heroes / guilds. The MC is a unique blacksmith who is shown to make a bow, a magic artifact, and various weapons. This is the setup for a "modern fantasy" type story. Then the MC regresses, and he starts off using his power on a gun, because like most gate stories... more>> guns are able to affect the lowest level monsters. He encounters the "mad scientist" who has shields and various inventions, which makes it seem like the genre is on track. But then the switch happens. Suddenly the MC has mobile turrets / magic ATVs / mecha's / magic technology crew. This is completely not what the story had setup before as the setting and quite frankly isn't something I would've read if I had known that upfront. It disguised itself to waste my time.

Separately, I am also not a fan of stories being run "by fate". Things keep getting explained as destiny or plotlines starting because "fate is trying to correct itself". The MC's preparations and planning are never going to work and the things that happen aren't going to have logical lead ups to it, because things are being hand waved away with a vague "fate made it that way". It feels like a terrible story telling mechanism. <<less

I really dislike stories where the MC starts off with a sword (or hammer) and a desire for revenge, then the next thing you know there is Mecha and other aspects of modern warfare. The core audience has to be teen to young adult males because most females I know don't really like Mecha in their revenge gate stories. It's jarring. I'll try again in a little while.

I'm really loving this novel. The MC is strong, both mentally and physically. Now that's he's gotten a second chance, he'll do whatever he must to achieve his goals. In my eyes, he's just an awesome badass.

Story is just starting but I like it. Regression doesn't happen out of nowhere and require work. Although superficially, abnormal events in earth are explained. Plot is set for MC head-on battle with literal destiny so grab popcorn and enjoy.

c18 update

Still holds up.
Spoiler

There is potential female lead but their relationships are strictly business and she is suspicious of his nonstandard "experience". Pace is on the slower side but author is careful not to leave plot holes and give MC "thorough" feeling. Family except his knowledge a little too easily but it's possible to overlook it because they had no previous information and MC is trusted.

It's pretty well written and I like the slight twist to the typical regression story. Good translation too. The MC has very understandable motivations. I would have rated it a 5 if not for the reasons I detailed in the spoiler, but suffice it to say they raised the stakes and then REALLY raised them in the latest chapters. Time will tell, but it's worth a try.

Spoiler

Even the early 'prologue' chapters I was a bit worried when they started talking about the constellations and it was hinting that the gates might be their doing. I was hoping the MC would get his revenge or at least freedom. Maybe save the world. I'm sure he'll still accomplish that original goal, but the real antagonists seem to be at the universe level in the latest chapters. It just feels like a DBZ like escalation right at the beginning of the story. I suppose this is the authors attempt to have the MC be an underdog despite being OP. Just feels heavy handed in execution.
