I read this story a long time ago, probably very soon after SVSSS and I guess then I couldn't really appreciate how special and sweet this story was because I focused too much on similarities. Recently I felt like re-reading it, and wow! The MC is so sweet I was enjoying every scene he was in. I loved all the secondary characters too, they were memorable and fun. Good take on the master/disciple trope.

Yes there is the classic Master trying to be good to his Disciple, Disciple falls in love. But the way they got together is wonderfully consensual. The ML properly confesses and the MC accepts. No r*pe, no black box, or anything like that (as of c45). Love it.

I wanted to give it a try but as soon as I started I was so bored. I kept reading to make sure it wasn’t just like the first few ch that were boring but I ended up giving up at ch 52. It isn’t bad but there isn’t anything good about it. It just didn’t stand out to me but I’ll give it a 3. Idk why I can’t change it but I accidentally put a 4.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a very specific trope and this book happens to hit that spot. The main character has transmigrated into a novel where he is the master of a disciple who, in their past life, killed him. He thinks he had better treat the disciple well to avoid a similar fate happening again, not realizing his disciple has also transmigrated. However, there's a larger secret hidden: the main character's true identity, and the truth behind the transmigration and the past life.

I liked the story for the... more>> unconventional tropes, such as both master and disciple reliving the past, and the secret behind the whole story. However, the book was not very well-written in other aspects. The disciple, who is the second main character, became a bit sidelined by the end, and their relationship progression seemed rushed with too many abrupt timeskips.

Overall, good for a quick read. <<less

The story is good. But it’s confusing. I keep thinking that ML is already a grown man.. Or rather I feel like I’m forcing myself to. I’ve already read past the point where the ML has the same height with the MC which means that he is at least old enough not to be called a child.. It was short but sweet, it's very well written. I love their connection and how they been together all these times. Very pure and some mini stories drive me to tears. Recommend to read for short enjoyment. Your usual troupe of Decisple revenge against Master with spicy twist.

I think, I've already started with this weeks ago🤔 and I guess I really did read a few chapters. I skipped-read so ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

Its not really angsty, though the plot twist was really good, its not on the wow, wtf factor. Even as someone who had experienced a lot of novels, its the author's accomplishment that I've never guessed the twist at all. Also great to pass the time.

It's an okay read. Some parts are kind of hard to follow though because the perspective changes so suddenly and the author starts mentioning things suddenly as well.

I'd say the novel starts off similarly to Scum Villain but it starts becoming more like 2HA (not the angst but the challenges they encounter).

One thing I dislike is how unresponsive the ML is. He literally reacts like a brick wall sometimes. Wish the author would've written more about his feelings and made it a bit more sweet.

this gave me scum villain vibes for a few chapters. To be honest I almost dropped it. But I'm glad I didn't. Although there are similarities there were noticeable differences that made this stand out. At some point, it will get you hooked and you wouldn't even realize until you're by the end. It was a smooth transition.",)

It's very short for novel with such theme, added with the characters' misterious past, the hidden enemies' plot and the adorable not enough side cp scenes. The author made a good reason for how the MC was actually his real person and how the ML tried his best to turn back time.

Yes, it's very much similar with the tutoliar work svsss, even to the characteristic of both master and disciple. But it changed direction in the middle and that was good albeit the overall was truly peas in a pod.... more>> Maybe it's the reason the novel was cut short.

I'm only unsatisfied with the way the author ended the whole thing and the closure was not enough imo. But oddly, it felt alright to end it this way. <<less

This is just pure, fun fluff. Yes, you can kind of play MXTX bingo with several of the plot points, but it's hard to say what's directly derivative and what's just genre-typical tropes.

There are some inconsistencies and translation could do with an editor but it's not that hard to follow

and the best part is that their entire relationship is consensual from start to finish. Even the MC is just immediately like, "Oh well, bye bye heterosexuality, never needed u anyway~"

Reading it I got the Heavens officials blessing vibe and the novel is so well written the characters and the translation amazing 😍😍😍.

The MC and ML are both strong and equal. I like that the MC is strong and has his own path in life and doesn't depend on the ML. The ML is introverted, so cute and often drinkgs some vinegar 🥰 and of course there is enough dog food.

The story is very interesting and the plot development is so good its never boring, every now and then you... more>> ask yourself what will happend now, it is like a dectetiv story.

That was a really good read. The translation team did a wonderful job!

About the story: it was really cute and well fleshed out. I think both the MC and ML have likeable personalities. Even though the ML is your usual 'cold' poker face, he is cute and obedient and not a borderline yandere like most Danmei out there.

Looking at the reviews, and reading the story, it really does bear a resemblance to svss. I'd say it's like the 'safe for sensitive people' version, which I do not fall under but can still enjoy. I would prefer it if the MC had blackened all the way before reincarnating though. Hmm, it's decent enough but I can't help the comparisons and feel like I'm reading a fanfic. I think I would've liked this more than I do now if I've read this before svss. However, cause I'm the kind... more>> of person who likes reading darker, more intense stuff, in my opinion it's okay, decent if you close an eye on some similarities. This story deserve a 5 star... It was light, easy to read, straightforward, and no unnecessary drama. It was more or less focused on the two protagonists and what actually happened in their past life. This is not a rebirth AU where they were reborn from ancient, they were actually reborn BACK in time to mend things back on track. I haven't read SVSS of MXTX altho I read some of their books like TGCF and MDZS so I don't know what are the other similarities except for the master-apprentice... more>> relationship and the master being jealous and killing his own apprentice, only to return as a demon king (?). Anyways it was good and deserve a 5 star bcs even tho it was short, you wouldn't be left unsatisfied reading it

What more, the twists and turns after actually uncovering the past events, if I didn't spoil myself ahead of time, I would actually be left confused bcs this is my first time reading such a story where...

What the MC thought a book he transmigrated into is actually the real world and the modern world he came from is actually the fake one.

Also their past lives... I was curious what happened after the ML "killed" his master in the book and when the author finally showed what happened, I was sad for the ML...

I mean, to realize the body he killed was the person he was looking for since he was a toddler and to realize you "killed" that person altho it was much deserve bcs you have been abused by that person and almost killed many times... but the thing is to find out again that the person hurting you wasn't actually the owner of the body but rather the devil that possessed him... and by killing him, you also killed your most precious person.

That was confusing and heartbreaking. Can't imagine what the ML felt after he remembered all those things... and after he realized it, he has to wait for a very long time to be able to have a glimpse of that person again even tho they were unresponsive and like a new born child.

Moreover, for the MC to be always holding back only to find out that you were actually the original owner of that body... lmao

This story wasn't heavy nor too light... There are some matters/issues that wasn't delved too deeply but all the conflicts were resolve in a satisfying way. The MC also wasn't a saint- he kills if he needs to, he hurts if he wants to, but he also helps the people who deserve it...

Overall, the plot was rlly good, and all the characters were likeable (except for the antagonist and Yan Shen) altho the side characters ain't shown much bcs it was heavily focused on the two protagonists. Sometimes, the explanation or the narrative was also a little confusing and short (I mean the author don't explain or describe some things and events much). <<less

This will only be a short review, but I liked this one very much!

It's a classic cultivation BL, but it focuses more on the relationship between the main characters as opposed to them gaining strength.

If you're looking for a novel to read after "Transmigrating into a Mob Character to Rehabilitate the Villain Plan" or "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation" you will probably like this one.

While those two examples are longer and far more angsty, this story is shorter and lighter with a few well developed side-characters that you will want to... more>> see stories for. The plot is far more sweet and straight forward, and it wraps up nicely. There is also no forcing of any member of the pair :) which is also wonderful to read.

Since it is not too long, is well translated, and a has a cute and realistic romance, why not give it a read :) <<less

One of the reviewers here said: every mystery is solved within 5 chapters. And when I thought about it... it's actually true! XD

This novel features a softie virtous open-minded MC and a run-of-the-mill cold-blooded possessive ML. Their dynamics start shaky but become sweet as molasses, and their relationship is quite healthy psychologically speaking.

There are some side pairings but their appearances are brief, a couple of chapters, no more.

The main underlying plot is to uncover the mysteries in the main couple's past and the little mysteries/cases/misunderstandings/accidents along this journey comprise the... more>> many sub-plots. Some are linked together. Some are not. It's up to you whether you like this structure or not.

I give 3 starts because there are a few plot holes and contrivances. Also, she main cast of characters is so narrow and yet I don't think that they're fully fleshed out. And finally, I prefer reading a strong, tightly-knit, over-arching plot rather than this episodic structure. All in all this feels like the work of a beginner who has yet to hone their skill.

(The thin plot is why I understand many compare this to SVSSS but I think MXTX has a better grasp on character development so I enjoyed SVSSS' angsty, spooky and hot scenes much more than this.) <<less

I really liked reading this. Our couple is quite cute really loved them. The small stories like Merman’s story was wow really beautiful (Side CPs too). The twists and mysteries were really interesting. I think it is really similar but also really different from SVSSS. The reason why I gave it a four is that at some point I got a bit impatient and a bit bored? Could be just me idk for example... more>>

when we learned that he was born a devil I was like hmm I mean it is a great thought but because the same thing happened in svsss I couldn’t feel that much emotion reading him say things like"would you still be with me if I chose the evil path?" It really isn’t the author’s fault it’s just me that felt that cuz it was a bit similar it kinda reduced my enjoyment

This story goes in a very different direction from what you are initially led to think. It has some interesting plot twists and I did appreciate the unconventional ideas buuuuuut... Some things are just, never explained? One of the sub-plots near the end is never explained unless there's an untranslated extra.

Also, the translations are good but the transitions between chapters made me feel like some stuff was missing sometimes? I don't know if the raws were just poorly written in that way or if it's a translation mishap.

The couple is... more>> cute but the advancement in their relationship was abrupt at times. You do get some explanation for it eventually buUUUUUUT... Yeah lol. It's not a bad novel, it's wholesome and interesting so I'd recommend it. <<less
