The plot itself is very contrived, but there is just something about the story that makes it so addicting to read.

It's like a wish-fulfillment power fantasy except set in the Korean entertainment industry rather than the usual medieval parallel world. It delivers that same feeling of satisfaction, albeit in an entirely different manner that is quite refreshing.

Of course, what TRULY carries this story is the Translator, Dreamscribe. This is quite possibly one of the best high-quality translations I've read; a breath of fresh air nowadays where 90% of translations are... more>> just MTL by ChatGPT with no effort or proper editing...

Overall: 9/10 <<less

It's an entertaining story.

Though in its basis it's so lame piece of writing, especially when the MC reaches Hollywood and starts according to authors' will to steal the real-life achievements of the real-life actors and film directors all in the name of "great korean culture and national pride"

Usually this trope, when real life cultural or scientific achievements are attributed to the MC (who is equiped with a cheat and gets everything with no effort whatsoever), happens in chinese webnovels (all stealing and plagiarism is of course in the name of... more>> the national pride), but it seems that koreans writers are not too far away in this respect.

Personally, it's ok for an MC to have a cheat (that's fantasy for you), but, hell, show some creativity and don't just attribute other peoples' sweat and tears to him! Let him do some work beyond stealing and plagiarising. <<less

To anyone planning on reading this, don't come in expecting absolute peak fiction.

Alright, with that out of the way, here's the deal. MC is granted the greatest golden finger in history and, accordingly, senses an opportunity to make some mad money out of it. So, he uses it to become the greatest actor in the history of ever, by just experiencing stories through movie scripts, and then bringing it to life on the set.

This story is basically a face slapping novel in a way, where everything just keeps escalating in... more>> matter of what cheats MC gets and how he uses them as well as the scale of the movies he features in, with one note antagonists that are just cartoonishly evil and fellow actors and audience and staff members just singing praises out of him.

That's it. That's the entire story loop. Also, there are misunderstandings and that's kinda annoying, but whatevs I guess.

I wouldn't say that this novel truly deserves the high rating of 4 stars that I'm giving it, but I discovered this when I was bored and looking for some stuff that isn't JP light novel slop, and I'm fairly easy to please.

tldr; MC gets cheat, goes into movies, mad money, escalation. Read this when you're super bored <<less

its an ok read, if u r lacking stuff to read. Not much exciting points. Its like a smooth coasting road on a good weather day with occasional slow traffic. what makes it a good read is actually the translator. One of the best translator works I have seen, they even explain the frequent hard to understand romanised korean words. The concept of the story was amazing, the execution though? Pretty bland. MC has good personality but due to a "misunderstanding" he keeps acting rude to everyone. The misunderstanding trope... more>> is quite funny at times, but the author milked it too much, so much so that I like the side characters better than the MC. MC quite rudely rejects his seniors. Its true, he has monstrous acting capabilities all bcoz of the void powers, but he is nothing without it. No ppl skills whatsoever, no character development, no good interactions. The only good interaction, I saw so far was with the director of exorcist only bcoz he acted little kind to him crying, thats it. Imagine how horrible he actualls acts with others.

The movie plots are good, the spacing was good, but we see no proper acting, nor much efforts from his side. Ppl would kill to be in his position but he literally doesnt value the efforts of everyone else involved. All we see is everyone drooling for mc's acting and praising him back and forth, throughout all chapters.

MC does not act like an an actor, he literally thinks to wear a buy 1+1 suit to wear to the mise en film festival where he would be the main protagonist. And I was seriously hoping for a proper arrogant character to crush MC under their feet and so him how ruthless the acting industry actually is, and having good acting skills doesnt cut it, and how incredibly lucky he actually is. But, sigh, this is one of those stories where every thrown stone becomes a stepping stone.
i actually love op protagnist stories, but there is not much to this story at all. Its a decent read, but does not deserve the high ranking #9 position that it currently has. <<less

I absolutely love the misunderstandings. Yes, things are "easy" but that's the genre. It's one of the novels I have no problems following everyday. Good and fast translation. We don't have to wait too long between each movie/series/etc.. And you'll always get what you expect. I really do cackle at each misunderstandings.

This story has a promising concept with intriguing characters, but the repeated praise for the protagonist and the formulaic action sequences become monotonous after a while. Exploring the characters' individual motivations and reactions in these situations could add depth and make them more engaging. Additionally, delving into emotions like jealousy or unfairness that might arise from the protagonist's successes or perceived advantages could create compelling internal conflicts and emotional arcs. While the author clearly has a strong foundation, injecting more realism and emotional complexity would elevate the story to its... more>> full potential.

In my opinion a failed story <<less

I’m distraught. How could this happen. I have no more chapters to read... (-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩___-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩)

But to give a review: it’s very good. Entertainment industry settings aren’t my favorite, but I think this one is- if not the best-then definitely close to the best that I’ve read so far. Unlike others with the same setting, the author keeps multiple things going at the same time (albeit in different phases). To me, this means there’s never a dull moment, no feeling of “oh the thing I cared about is over, now they... more>> want me to care about something else?”... I’m not sure if others feel the same, but since the author lays the groundwork for the MC’s next projects in advance, every moment is one I care about... Including the ones he didn’t get to because I ran out of chapters... !!

Also notable is that it holds up well without romance. Or, I don’t know if it will ever have romance in the future, but I often find that some books without romance don’t have strongly fleshed out characters or don’t have meaningful interpersonal relationships between the MC and others. This one, while it doesn’t have incredibly strong interpersonal relationships, it’s not bad either. The characters though, are fleshed out. They feel alive. No one feels vague and all of the characters are very distinct from each other! Even characters that aren’t seen often! That is very rare.

If you have time to read it, I recommend it. If you don’t, I’d recommend saving it somewhere for when you do. <<less

This is a really funny novel. I think anyone who can find the fun of the misunderstandings will like this. Theres just so much tension as our man grows as an actor. At what point will the truth be revealed? Will the truth ever be revealed? Theres so many questions I have that I believe will naturally be revealed.

Theres just so many layers to what these circumstances are and his void space abilities plays a hand in it.
Spoiler

Bro can learn languages instantly as he relives characters. What other skills could this lead to? I couldn't tell ya

[collapse]

I'm greatly interested in reading more and as another review stated, I just cant get enough.

The translation is great as well!

It is good, but it’s a new book and if you have read any novels that’s about film making, you would know how much time it takes even for one movie/drama/video the MC partook on. Yea it would take at least 40 - 50 chapters or even more. So I can’t say anything right now since I only read 34 chapters.

A really interesting and well-paced story. I always look forward to how the author will deepen the relationships of those around our MC, and how each of their interactions help to further develop every character's personality and skills.

I especially look forward to seeing how our protagonist will deal with future conflict since I'm now at the part where we are reaching the end of the exposition, and the story begins to pick up pace.

Let's get the best aspect this novel out first. Not many Eastern literatures out there does OP MCs very well. But fortunately, this novel's author brilliantly depicted the MC as a truly monstrous genius actor that is armed by one of the most powerful golden finger cheat in the history of East Asia webnovels industry. I can safely say that MC's OPness is just as powerful as One Punch Man's Saitama, if not more.

Now, let's talk about the negative aspect of this novel. Yeah, I'm talking about what other reviewers... more>> of this novel call THE LOOPHOLE. The author seems to vastly underestimate the viciousness of South Korea's tabloid industry. I actually already half-expected the tabloids and/or Hwalin fanbase to force MC's parents to close their restaurant or force Bloodsister to quit university from all the harangueing.

The author really missed the chance to take advantage of MC's actual extremely ordinary background and life history that did not commensurate whatsoever with his monstrous acting ability. The author dropped the ball here massively. Instead of using the 'misunderstanding' trope to deal with this, the author could have wrote a major sidestory, a scandal perhaps, that may or may not address this incongruity. No way the South Korea's tabloids will not find out that MC has never gone to Japan or United States before the first chapter of this novel. <<less

Though I didn't like the fact that he acquired every single skill effortlessly with just a void space (that was the author's choice, of course), I found the detailed writing of the movies and scripts fascinating. The emotions, point of view, and other elements were so intricately described that I could vividly imagine the scenes in my head. It was truly captivating to read. I highly recommend it 😆😆

This has an interesting start with lots of potential but sadly didn't stay that way in the recent chapters.
I like the idea that the main character gets to experience movie characters' lives. But it is a shame he can only experience the male characters because I think, being able to portray female or even non-human creatures is very important to actors. Or maybe I set my bar too high.
One more thing, I can understand that our MC didn't feel passionate about the acting career at first because he had no prior interest in this area. But I had hoped that he would grow his love and passion along the way with his career, sadly that didn't happen. While he did try to improve it is only fleetingly mentioned. Most of the time he only cares about fame and money and girls which is a total letdown for me. While every other actor and actress in the novel is so focused on their acting and admires the MC for his skill it feels unfair for the other because the MC doesn't focus his mind on the acting itself.
I don't know if this will get better in the future but if the story stays this way then sadly I will have to drop it here.

I personally love this novel! Is the snowball of misunderstanding illogical? Yes, yes it is. But like the MC let's just roll with it 🤣 I first started reading this novel as a casual read and I don't know at which point it made me hunt down the raws just to find out what happens next.

In my opinion, MC isn't as normal as he thinks he is. My theory is he is a lazy bug who was born with some pretty good stats but didn't notice it until the system... more>> (?) did. I don't want to think too much over the "logic" within the author's worldview and because of that I can happily read this. <<less

a feel good novel with a gary sue MC, basically. And I love it

what I like about the way this story tackles the misunderstanding trope is that the MC realizes early on that people got the wrong idea and actively lets them continue to misunderstand. He concludes, "well, it doesnt harm anyone and I cant be bothered to explain." its fun to read

usually in novels like this, the MC either regresses or possesses someone else's body, so they often start at a young age and get praised as a... more>> prodigy. But here, the MC is 27 and just quit his job. Even if he has no written record of being in the acting field before, its more plausible for people to believe he studied secretly for 10 years than if he was a 17 year old that showed the same amount of skill. Doesnt change the fact that he became op out of nowhere, but it still made it interesting

one thing I find majorly annoying though is how the author drags on the events. For example, if the story is set on a tuesday, the author starts by describing what the MC is doing, then adds literally everything thats happening in the background. Side characters get to be on the spotlight for six or so paragraphs, even when what theyre doing is so mundane and irrelevant to the plot at that moment. Theyre side characters and background characters for a reason: id rather read about the MCs experience during a photoshoot or his interactions with the side characters than to see the inner workings of how the movies and dramas are being prepared.

the movies and dramas in this though were extremely interesting. Its to the point I think they were made by a different author because they seemed to be written better than the actual novel our MC is in. Its a strange phenomenon where the separate stories within a novel are more eye catching than the novel itself

overall enjoyable if youre like me who has consumed hundreds of novels with gary sue MCs and can never get tired of them. Its not that s*upid and theres not much annoying antagonists that bother the MC like mosquitoes. If youre looking for character development and something compelling though, I suggest you look for something else <<less

I like this very much. Straight to the point, What You Get Is What You See. From the title, and genre, down to the description. The thing that I think some readers will find a problem is;

1. MC golden finger - Too OP, the MC can go to this so-called void something that he can play the character and become the character itself including language/talent and maybe many more in the future. Making it too easy and feel bland. No original personality for MC. (Not a problem for me)

2.... more>> Misunderstanding - Something like Boss Pei from Losing Money To Be Tycoon. (Usually, the people who go read it first before reading the tag/genre/description.)

3. MC past - The MC meets all these bigshots of the entertainment industry and not a single one finds any noteworthy about MC's past. It's all "rumor", about going abroad since he speaks fluent English and Japanese. There is no way that kind of people can't even find where you attend middle school, high school, and other basic info

These 3, especially the misunderstanding are what I think will irritate, annoy, and may be the cause of dropping this novel. Plus points for not including romance or any force romance at least for now. It's very entertaining <<less

This novel is very interesting in giving a fresh perspective on showbiz concept or genre. Especially since there’s so many kinds of Korean novels abt showbiz/entertainment. Nth complicated and focuses on the acting part! And I’m always waiting on that next chapter cuz it’s that good!

TL:DR It's a fun read so far despite having some weaknesses. Don't expect too much realism as they gloss over many things and the characters (thus far) aren't very fleshed out. It's strength is a fast paced plot that is mostly comedic. But it's mostly the situational kind of thing and not outright jokes. Personally I like the MC's internal struggle with the constant new experiences he's thrust himself into. Fake it until you make it quite literally.

I'd have dropped this to a Rating 3 just for the hyperbolic praise... more>> lavished on the MC. It's really tiresome in most wish fulfillment stories, but I find this (mostly) palatable due to the misunderstandings. The later of which usually gets on my nerves too. Especially when it comes to drama/romance. Somehow this series has managed to keep my interest despite this. I guess it's because the MC isn't dense in this case and is usually fully aware that someone has misunderstood. Speaking of romance there's some hints of a potential love interest but it could be a red herring. I just REALLY hope they don't do something extremely bone headed like extend the misunderstanding to the romance. I'm so fed up with characters that can't communicate properly, especially when it comes to romance.

The MC's power is pretty broken and I do hope the author explores its origins more rather than just continue to use it as a plot device. I don't know if the cover art here is foreshadowing, but it would be interesting if this is a reflection of the roles he's experiencing. The impact on his mind. <<less
