I’m not giving this a star rating because I dropped it so early that it doesn’t seem fair, but I couldn’t make myself keep reading this. Maybe the high rating skewed my expectations? I don’t know. What I DO know is that the writer needed to edit with a machete (unless the point was just to get that sweet sweet chapter $$ on jjwxc).

The sheer amount of pointless description is, quite simply, not good writing. Maybe there are good characters and plot buried in here, but I will never know... more>> because I have already spent 9 chapters reading about bicycle logistics and side jobs and complete descriptions of every single meal they eat. And that’s about 8 chapters too many. <<less

A novel from one of my favorite authors, Jue Jue!

Started off pretty okay but when I read arc 2, I started enjoying it so much. Love it when the story is centred to the romance between the MC and ML. I really like their interactions and relationship!
It was funny to read about the MC whitewashing and comeback from his situation when his previous body was a scumbag. He's also solving how people can accept them being together and I find it so sweet and thoughtful.

This novel makes the transmigrations make sense and logical like oh wowwwww

Great read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beloved Husband reads like an anthology of love stories with some ending chapters tying them together. All QT novels have to decide how much emphasis to give the overarching story versus the smaller arcs, and I think the author's choice for Beloved Husband makes sense: the pace of the writing is extremely quick & it's designed to be light, pleasant reading. This kind of story does not need a heavy plot. There is the minimum amount of angst, and overall the tone is very fluffy, romantic, and warm.

This is a... more>> story where you can skim or even skip entire story arcs if they're not to your taste and it will not matter. There are 12 arcs, and as with all QT novels, some are stronger while others are weaker. I skipped "Educated Youth" and part of "Emperor", but wished I could spend 100s of chapters with "Little White Face". Each of the arcs span roughly 20 chapters and it's really not worth it to talk in-depth about each. The starting chapter gives a rundown of the setting and situation; there aren't really any surprises or twists; you'll figure out how much you'll enjoy a story arc fairly quickly.

As a side note, the author purposefully uses a formula in the openings of the different arcs to tie them together (i.e. The "He fell in love at first sight!" + "The original owner is scum!" + "He is a genius!" scenes). This is a stylistic choice, and whether you like it or not is up to you. I found it to be cute and appropriate to the novel's tone and structure.

I found Beloved Husband to be an above-average reading experience because it subverts a lot of hateful danmei tropes. The gong isn't always taller, manlier, older, richer, more powerful, et cetera than the shou. The gong isn't cold, domineering, controlling, or r*pey; he wholeheartedly loves and respects the shou. If anything, the shou is the one with a slight yandere streak but it never really comes into play because the gong is so crazy about him all the time. Their love for each other feels very authentic.

Of course, the novel has flaws. The main character is extremely OP, which fits the light-hearted tone - but in some arcs, it's evident that the challenges he's facing are not his equal, which is kind of boring. Not all but some of the side characters degrade into stereotypical death-seeking cannon fodder. The story transitions are too abrupt - at the end of the first arc, it's never even clarified that the starring couple grows old together and dies of old age before transmigrating, which made it seem like they got yanked from that world all of a sudden. It isn't until later arcs show them growing old in the extras that it becomes clear what was supposed to have happened. In short, there are some writing weaknesses.

Nonetheless, I can confidently recommend this novel to anyone looking for lighter fare. 4/5. <<less

This is one of my favorite novels ! The MC is the gong and he transmigates to many different worlds in order to save and protect his shou. I love the fact that the gong loves the shou with all his heart and soul. He’s not afraid to lose his pride or to embarrass himself if it means protecting his shou. MC is a bit silly and can act s*upid at times but he is very reliable and is always able find ways to solve any current or future obstacles... more>> that may appear and keep him from making the shou happy. And the soul of the shou is also the same in each world so it’s a 1v1 novel which I love. <<less

This novel was in my list to read before. Although previously I thought this is a good novel, it turns out to be a dissapointment. The interaction between MC (gong/top) and ML (shou/bottom) feel too bland. And the worst thing is they make ML so s*upid they become blinded by love despite being "smart". As for the writing, the author need to practice more. There's so many unnecessary scene but the important one get left out instead. I personally love the relationship moments so was hoping for it having more... more>> scene <<less

Writing style is:

MC realizes he transmigrated. A dozen pages of info-dump about how scummy the MC has been towards ML in this world. MC vows to spoil/dote on ML as much as possible. MC dotes on ML as much as possible. Rinse and repeat.

I was so bored by this cycle that I didn't even go check if the raws are written as poorly as the translation. I sure hope not.

It was interesting to see how YJZ spoils his MC in every arc.

It was mostly about the process of how YJZ improves the state of life of the MC.

There are fluffy scenes but you'll be disappointed if you're here for some snu snu.

Read BH this if you're looking for some fluff to pass your time

Great translation quality from Wandering Potato. Cheers! ❤️

One of my favourite novels! This pure fluff and cotton candy sweetness. Just the MC showing his love for his shou in all reincarnations.

If you are looking for plotlines and stuff, nope, this is not for you!

I love how crazy MC is for his lover and how perfect a wife s*ave he is.

Definitely recommend.

This is not my first novel with seme protagonist, but this is certainly one of the most unforgettable one— even the sweetest.

There's also a sequel of this novel, but no one's picking up that project yet.

I really hope somebody will translate the sequel even though the MTL is readable, because translated versions are still easier to read and understand.

... more>> I love the chemistry between the MC and the ML.

It's too sweet that I can't get enough of it. There's some face slapping going on in some chapters, but it won't bet too extreme because the novel focus more on romance.

But there are more face slapping in the sequel tho. <<less

One of most re-read novel by me. Can't say its unparalleled masterpiece but its really captivating. Maybe because you rarely meet couple falling in love right away and still making you interested in what's going to happen. Its one really delicious dog food out there😋

P.S.: really hope for kind soul to appear and to translate sequel 😶‍🌫️

The translation of this story is well done.

That being said I find the story somewhat infuriating. The arcs are entirely disconnected so far. This is kind of an interesting plot mechanism. However, the arcs suffer from a lack of substance. The romance is cliche and superficial. Sadly the superficial romance is the vast majority of the content for each ark. The plot of the world in each ark seems like an after thought. The story is pure fluff in a variety of interesting back drops that are woefully underutilized.

Hmm....I haven't read the other arcs and I think I'll take my time reading them. So my rating is temporary. The reason for taking a break is, the writer keeps shoving the MC & ML's feelings and thoughts on the reader, which is not really bad, but takes away much of the enjoyment. While I liked the fact that both the MC & ML are not OP an privileged from the beginning and have to struggle for their success, I don't actually SEE the struggle, but get TOLD about it... more>> indirectly. Like MC worked hard to establish his company and now he takes more projects and earns XX amount of money... etc. I believe the stories themselves are good but the author's writing style needs to improve.

Overall, it doesn't seem bad. You can read it for light, fluffy reading (It's VERY FLUFFY and diabetes inducing). <<less

I loved it every arc reads as one single story, but we know they are a couple and are doomed to fall for each other it's fun and I cheered for the ML every time. Get your shou and go to the pinnacle of life!

I kept getting frustrated by why neither of them remembered anything until the last arc. A previous review really put it well, it reads like short stories that are explained in the "series finale." I'd recommend this

I agree with another reviewer that this doesn’t read like a QT novel, it reads like several short stories. So, in my opinion it fails as a QT, but it shines as a series of short stories

The reason it fails as a QT is that the ML has amnesia in every arc and doesn’t remember his true identity until the final few chapters. There is no character growth and no explanation of why he falls in love immediately

i loved all the arcs except the one about the entertainment industry, that... more>> arc seemed to drag

I highly recommend this novel <<less

I can’t help but feel a little sad because I finish reading it. I like this novel very much.
This novel is one of the best quick transmigrations I have read. It’s has a unique story in my opinion because it shows us how the same person will be in a different environment. The MC have the same qualities in every world like he is good, respectful, and smart but because he only has the memories of the original owner he will be affected by the environment the original owner grew up in as a result he will have a few similar behaviors like the original owner. And because of he doesn’t have his memories, he lives as the original owner which made me feel his real feelings and live in the story. Unlike the other quick transmigrations novels where the MC take it as a game so I don’t really feel the feelings in every world.
This novel doesn’t make the canon fodder end so badly to the point made you feel the MC is too much which is great. The stories are warm and good without making you feel boring most of the arcs.

I love this! The plot and the essence may be a little bit repetitive... ... more>>
Spoiler

The MC woke up, he found out that he traversed, then realize that he has a 'golden finger' and was a scum who fell in love at first sight with the ML. He will then proceed to whitewashing himself while making sure to have a happy ending with the ML.

[collapse]
... but you will still see the beauty of every arc. There were times when I thought that some arcs will be boring only to be interested again and again. The ending is also satisfying.

I learned that there is a sequel which is about their honeymoon. You can choose to read it though I don't think it is translated yet. <<less

Depends on what you look for the rating might change but what's conclusive from start to end is, story is stale with dog food, no plot, repetitive and the characters are at best only 2D.

The MC is a Gary Stue Gong, has a photographic memory, blessed maxed out luck meter, narcissistic and a bit happy go lucky of an airhead. ML Shou is different depending on the plot but has mostly a lot of trust issues towards MC, has tons of insecurities and major lack of self-confidence. Both are absolute... more>> loyal dogs.

The plots are always the same. It never changes, never. So you might as well as skip to the end and you wouldn't even miss a single thing. For the better or worse, with this, you can avoid some arcs like the post apocalyptic one because that one was beyond *gag* in logic.

Arc 9 has a LOT of triggering content such as ableism, su*cide attempts, self harm, child neglect and abuse so beware.
Sorta not really yaoi? Extreme vague descriptions of s*xual acts, the black out to the morning after type. Just says they do it a lot, that's about it, not even a well written out make out scene and overall 0% s*xual tension. Boo.
Overall summary would be, read it if you endured too much melo-dramatic abusive plots and need some healing (it's not really healing but just a bland monotone sugary sweetness). Otherwise, do not recommend, as it has no substance in anything.

Ending was extremely unsatisfactory, scraped up random ideas into the finale and reveals were a snooze fest to read.

Pros I can think of are:
-MC will unconditionally love and support ML
-smooth road of success but MC would still work hard for ML if necessary
-quick face slapping
-early fast romance
-no gay bending, weird for it to be a pro but feels like all BLs has at least one of the main characters to be originally straight (like not even bi-curious, straight up straight AF)
uhm, that's it.

Cons:
-author loves to brag about her little MC being a genius so damn often, I want to smack them
-the photographic memory aside, it was never actively described how innovative he is or how he can use the knowledge at hand to use other than... recite it (all the achievements are all told passively through narration)
- great potential for switches (talking about gong/shou) but author would nip that instantly in the bud, despite having a great variation of different types of character set up all blend into the same old mess
-memory wipe, the story will start anew with the same old same old MC knowing nothing except for his name and that he transmigrates, we spend a great deal listening to dog blood drama original plot and MC bragging about his genius, the fact that author cranks the pedestal up by 2x for MC after every plane doesn't help either
- premature and early exiting for antagonists, background characters are below 1D level of existences, grouped up in cheer/boot lick/cult squad and cannon fodder squad, no individuality at ALL; -classic villains, either all just narcissistic, homophobic, psychopathic, egoistic or physically 'ugly'/'uglier' Strong emphasis on their shoddier appearance compared to MC because ayyy lookism is totally okay *note my sarcasm*
Cheer/boot lick/cult squad just means they'll eventually will go from cheering, to boot licking then downright revere him like a cult leader)
Spoiler

Even if these 'villains' did no wrong, they'd still be massively suppressed by Gary Stue and always be the underwhelming ones and described to be never be able to measure up to Gary Stue MC. For example the palace intrigue arc 4, the antagonist was smart, hatched plans and MC had just to wave his hand by showing his photographic memory and wow the crowd like a clown to supress someone who worked meticulously for decades.
Or the jianghu/sect arc where OG host was evil, and the 'villain' just came to save his lover who was captured by OG Host and get revenge/exterminate evil. But would be kicked by MC aside with disgrace and will have to lose to him in the future over and over no matter how hard he works. Hard work will lose to a lazy genius in this story, kind of frustrating. Want to see MC get slapped.

[collapse]
-both MC and ML are extremely biased towards each other, even if actions of previous host would make sense, MC would write it off in ML's favour and ML despite all mistreatments would still let OG host of MC abuse him
-MC can't make up his mind about OOCing or not, but later on it's all adapted to 'act like a white lotus so ML can forgive you'; kinda manipulative and dishonest, don't like it one bit. He does confess later on but... that's all after he gains the trust of ML. Could've mentioned at least once that he's a transmigrator but nooope, we don't need that kind of honesty here now do we?
-Mainly why I call MC narcissistic besides the heaps load of gloating and the few times he's put ML down to raise himself up, definitely not a predominant occurrence, but happened 2-3 times where he thought of ML as s*upid and not in a 'silly' cute kind of way in context and insults his actual intelligence and how he's way above ML
-holy crap wtf is up with the writing, the story's bad enough but the writing is another...
Primary example quotes: '-, he was not too old, but also not too young. He was very rich, but he became less and less rich all the way to the north.'
The sentences would become below elementary levels of simplistic. The bad/non-existent story structure alone wasn't enough, I suppose. (translation does NOT help!!! Would confuse attempting su*cide with committing su*cide. For the entire arc, it was mentioned a lot and it was also said in context that it was a failed attempt + breaking an engagement turns into divorce in translations too. And then for disabling/cripping -'They beat him, interrupted one of his legs-' it turns into 'interrupting'??!? It's a hot mess. TN becomes MTL half way through too, the pronoun mistakes makes it obvious.)

And the ending....
Spoiler

They always start of with falling in love at first sight, but MC narrated that he didn't even love ML that much (even though it does contradict the fact he split his soul and went looking for ML in the smaller world planes unconsciously to save him, but hey the writing is a mess to begin with). So between splitting their souls and and the first arc, there's nothing much that happened, which got me thinking that woah, MC is really heavily in love with himself. At least ML has the excuse of guarding the dead body of MC for years and wanted to get married all this time that shows at least his deep affection for his significant other.
