A solid story. Like everyone has said, this contributes to the plethora of unlimited flow novels by adding one thing: it takes place after the unlimited flow instances end. It's a novel approach, and it's a short, well developed, story for anyone who is interested in a new spin on this trope. It was good enough that when I started reading this at 11pm I stayed up until 6am to finish reading it.

That being said, it's definitely not as show stopping as some of the more typical unlimited flow ones,... more>> and I do think the descriptions sometimes are a little lacking. But I really like the relationship between the MC and the ML in that the ML is overbearing, but he actually has ears and uses them (he actually understands what the MC wants and acts on it instead of trying to override the MC's will). Love the extras chapters and the side characters too! <<less

The story is good, the translation is good too. But -1 star for repetition. I can make do with a few inconsistencies here and there, even within a chapter, but the narrative is quite repetitive. The facial features of the MC and ML are described every few chapters, but their eye colours are mentioned again and again every few paragraphs in every chapter. It's as if the author is afraid of forgetting them and uses every alternate chapter as a reminder. Also, every new place or setting that MC goes,... more>> he is reintroduced without fail as if a hero in his mysterious heroic stance at the start of a new novel. The novel would be quite shorter if not for these repetitions. <<less

MC was once a infinite flow player, became the first and only one to clear it, and now lives in the real world as your average salaryman working for a paranormal bureau. but lately, he's noticed an uptick in paranormal activities that seems out of norm, it turns out that monsters and ghosts have been escaping from the game and invading the real world. ML is a powerful ghost from the game and has an obssession with MC. previously, ML was deliberately placed by mc's side by an entity called 'mother' to lower his guard and convert him into a ghost, but that plan was foiled and MC 'killed' him in-game. ML finds MC and gains his trust, and together they work to stop mother from completely invading the real world.

thoughts;

this novel is unique in that it goes into the psyche of a player who had spent decades trapped into a horror survival game, and now faces the same threat again but in the real world. ye jia has ptsd, but I personally found the depiction a bit superficial. but I did like how he represses his memories and tries his best to live out a normal life post-game, and how he is forced to delve into those memories later on in order to gain advantage over his enemies.

ye jia and ji xuan's relationship is a late bloomer. ji xuan has been obssessed (and enamoured) since the very start but all his advances were rejected. their relationship only becomes somewhat reciprocal in the very last stretch of the novel, which unfortunately felt a bit perfunctory. I wish it was explored a bit more because ye jia's feelings seemed shoehorned in the final battle and it became background noise amidst the climax of the story. romance isnt this novel's forte, but at least theres domestic cuteness in the extras if you want to indulge.

as for the plot: I was actually quite satisfied with the direction it was going at first; it had decent worldbuilding, a plotline that makes sense, and good buildup leading to the final boss fight. however, it seemed like the author decided to throw all that forethought and planning out the window the final chapter and pull a deus ex machina out of nowhere and so conclusion was incredibly disappointing.

there were four conditions to fulfill in order to release mother from the door, and tackling any one of these conditions would foil her plans.

one; a boatload of malice. two; a vessel tained with malice, which was mother's collection of body parts. three; a descendent must establish the door, which was done by ji xuan 40 years ago. four; a descendent must open the door, which they planned to be ye jia.

ye jia wanted to tackle condition one and devour all the malice. ji xuan wanted to tackle condition four, which is to use a fake ye jia to trick mother during the door opening ceremony. but thing is, neither was successful. they ended up losing. but then ye jia found his biological mom's soul and... that's all it took?

the only explanation I can think of is that ye jia's biological mom was the true vessel and when ye jia found her soul, that soul no longer held malice (??) and that broke down condition two. maybe?? I mightve been able to accept this alternative IF IT WAS EXPLAINED but the story literally ends after that. the extras doesnt talk about it either so all im left with is guess work lol. it's a pity because I thought the story was pretty solid up until that point.

  • comments: I actually really enjoyed this novel it has a great balance of a mature psychological romance and thriller/horror and the author also does not force the shou to be relient on ML thank god anyways I loved this def climbed up to my top 4 fav novels
  • MC = daring, #1 in leaderboard, scheming, liar (LOL), manipulative, funny, chaotic, relatable, has an obsession with hot boba tea, ruthless
  • well his life is quite miserable before he went into the game cos his mom gets killed by the dad and yeah

The translation was good. The novel was well written with decent leads, so why am I rating this 3 stars? Well, 5 stars for translation, 5 stars for the quality of the novel, but 3 stars for my enjoyment. Though I do appreciate the horror, unfortunately it never drew me in. The story just lacks charisma for me. I read other genres outside of my usual and there are even a few that had engrossed me but sadly this one, despite all its positives, lost me. I've stopped at ch.... more>> 46 and plan to resume some time in the future with fresh eyes. Maybe my rating and review will change. Maybe not. <<less

The main issue with this novel is that the MC is already aware of all the mysteries behind the incidents that he encountered. It's written like a mystery-solving novel, with one case following another. So, when everything is so easily solved again and again, the story that could have had lots of potential became kind of boring. The most interesting aspect would have to be the romance -- the ML is someone that the MC encountered in the infinite world. They were entangled somehow, but the MC knew nothing about... more>> it (the whole thing was driven by the yandere ML's obsession lol). Outside of that, there was really nothing else of note.

OF course, this could be because I stopped reading too soon. *Thinkingface* well. The Translation is good, so it's definitely worth a try at least. If you're not looking for anything too complex, then this is not a bad read. The tone is lighthearted, so it's easy to just to turn your brain off and enjoy it. Not what I'm currently looking for though, so I've decided to put it down for now and come back to it later. <<less

I LOVE IT.

This is an awesome book. Generally, I’m not happy with slow romance but here I like even this. And the extras are an additional source of happiness, they are soooo good. Definitely recommend. It’s a very worthy read.

The story is unraveling bit by bit, slowly telling us about the past. The mystery is there though the whole story and it’s really good and unexpected. The pace of the plot is just right.

There is a slow romance, but the main couple is very good. I love how they interact... more>> and the tricks ML uses. Also, the plot is very nice, so it can compensate for slow romance.

We have a drama here, and some comedy a little too. Everything is in a good dose and places. I’m very satisfied.

A very worthy read that I strongly recommend. And quite unique too. <<less

The story is very interesting. I like the laziness of the MC and the craziness of the ML lol

However, toward the middle of the story, I just feel like it suddenly became anti climatic. Like the build up of the story was really good but suddenly it fell or something.

And towards the end, I feel like everything was hurried. Like so much was happening but there's little explanation going on.

And at some key instances, the ML was like a side character only. Like he didn't really need to be there, he magically disappears sometime or something
