Please use proper spacing and paragraphs. The Peng Society for Gentlemen — a secret friend-making club for the homos*xual men of the Great Xia Dynasty. Its services were designed to help its members along in their quest for their lifelong partners. Upon paying a monthly fee of fifty coins, members could get themselves listed in The Pengornisseur after providing a self-portrait, a mailing address, their age and hobbies, as well as a self-introduction. All members would receive a copy of the monthly publication, and they could communicate with one another in private using the information in The Pengornisseur.
Wu Xingzi, a bachelor about to turn forty, worked as the adviser to the magistrate in Qingcheng County.
Qingcheng County was a place with barely any resources. In other words, it was poor. In the list of counties of the Great Xia Dynasty, it had been ranked at the bottom for the past two hundred years.
Wu Xingzi felt that his life was hopeless: not only was he a homosexual, he was also a virg*n. Even his retirement fund was lacking. Worse still, his looks were… forgettable.
He might as well die.
Hence, Wu Xingzi decided to commit su*cide on his fortieth birthday. However, he was unwilling to remain a virg*n to death! And so, gritting his teeth, he joined the Peng Society for Gentlemen and received The Pengornisseur. It was very painful; after all, fifty coins were the sum of his daily expenditure for ten days! He would only pay it once, and he was determined to succeed on his first try.

The MC is a likeable person, he's capable, smart and sometimes even cunning. But because he's timid and docile, people tend to underestimate him. His interactions with the ML are super funny (especially when they fight about pengornis drawings) and I often laughed out loud.
I don't really like the ML and his behaviour though. I think he's really controlling, toxic and jealous most of the time. I mean he basically kidnapped the MC and kept him in a courtyard for months. I don't understand why people tend to romanticise this behaviour and I'm tired of characters like that...
No weird science structures, pronon confusions, etc ect which is quite common from chinese translations! The MC is not your usual peerless beauty type of MC, he is quite different from most danmei/yaoi trope MC, which is very refreshing! Loved how he always stayed humble. He was quite pure and and over generous and kind, yet at the same time stubborn and stuck to his guts! This contradiction made him such a lovable MC! Just personal preference, didnt love how honry and p*nis obsessed the MC was, it was just a bit much for me. Also didnt love that the MC was constantly called "old quail" by the ML as a form of endearment. Maybe its just a lost in translation type of thing, but c'mon, thats just NOT romantic or cute at all! Quite derogatory in fact! Also this novel had A LOT of smut/steamy scenes. But its def beyond smut, very explicit, like VERY! And I dont mind smut or explicit s*x scenes per se.
However, in this novel there was just SO MANY s*x scenes just for the sake of s*x scenes. The author even says in one chapter that she missed writing smut so much, she just HAD to force another s*x scene in there, purely because. Again, I dont mind smut, ad enjoy it if done right, but all the s*x scenes were also SUPER repetitive. Like they were literally written almost the same, nothing new or different in any of em. At first I didnt mind, and read the s*x scenes. But after reading SO many of them, which were written exactly the same, I just ended up skipping them all together just to get on with the main plot. Again, excellent novel, EXCELLENT translations, excellent MC, great ML, but too many repetitive s*x scenes.
