First of all, thank you, translator, for such dedication to translating and putting all accumulated knowledge of plants that I have ever known before to us to understand the context.

There are several points in this novel worth reading, meanwhile borderline repetition and repetitive pattern.

Plot & Storyline

  • Overall plot (3.5 - 4.0)
Spoiler

The main plot was that MC was reborn and had a chance to live his own life not just spare parts for his brother. Later, he met a loving mom, met possessive ML, and fall in love while evolving plants for a better environment and his business. Besides, the existence of the panel was the fantasy part of this story, which could help MC learn about flowers, and plants and improve it.

The sequence of the novel could say that it's telling a story of a leisurely daily life, involving watering plants, and caring for his pets, with intervals of small events along the way concerning his old cheap father, affected by his past life, ML's manipulative mind trying to woo him. The story rhythm was quite slow-paced. Not overly dramatic and suspense will let you emotionally anticipate big events. In my opinion, revenge or face-slapping issues were not overreacted or much emphasise.

MC and ML family drama, which did hold much dramatic value in this novel. Mostly, family drama centers around ML for the most part of Yan and Yin family which were quite a mess due to bad parenting responsibilities. Then, ML slowly took revenge and didn't care much about them anymore because he has MC now as his family. For Lu's family which always somehow revolved around MC's life, it didn't cause much traffic in the early and middle of the plot line. They came to be face-slapped by ML and then fade away.

However, due to the slow-paced of the novel and the concern little progress in the plot point for each chapter. Somehow, it's a bit boring to read the latter chapter. I think the routine and the direction of plant development were repetitive and leads me to skip several parts of the paragraphs in several chapters.

[collapse]

  • Narrative (3.5)
Spoiler

The story was slow-paced from the beginning but somehow around 100+ chapters began to be repetitive in action and development and at the last few chapters it was quite rushed to finish the plot point. Therefore, some plot points haven't been fully answered or become mysterious such as the origin of the panel, why MC was reborn, and what's happened to Lu Wei'An? Will ML's mother recognizes her mistake?, where were ML's grandfather and his mother go?

[collapse]

Relationships (3.5 -4.0)

  • Spoiler
    • MC & ML

Between MC & ML, one could say that MC is cute and ML is black-bellied. The development of MC is quite slow. He's naive in many aspects because he didn't have a world outside Lu's house. But, ML was falling for MC too easily because he feels comfortable around MC and wants to be with him all the time. Even if, ML took a step at the very beginning of the story, but MC&ML relationship was slowly formed due to interaction several times, then developed from business partner to friend/brother, then to lover.

    • MC & pet

The cutest thing I found in this story is the interaction between MC and his pet Dahei. It's cute, fluffy, and heart-warming. I think Dahei played a heavy role as one of the factors that healing MC from a past-life wound.

    • MC & family

Wang Shuxiu is the mother that can give MC the feeling of unconditional love and well-concerned for their child and family, which MC never experienced in a past life. She has a strong character and always said curse words that MC didn't normally meet. But he accepted her because she is kind, loved him, and put him first in everything. It's quite loveable between the two of them even if every time she calls him a little bastard. It became an affectionate nickname for him.

    [collapse]
By the way, I finished reading this novel, quite relishing and gaining some knowledge about plants. The most fluffiest moment was between Dahei and MC. So cute and heart-Warming. <<less

Well, I finished reading, and now I'm depressed. I wanted to read more!!!! I absolutely loved this book! If you're wondering, I would say that the ratio of nature to romance is about 60:40. While I do agree with another reviewer that I would have liked to see more of the MC taking care of plants and animals, I still enjoyed reading. Yes, the ML is a little predatory. Yes, the animals didn't act very realistically. Yes, there was a lot of technical plant jargon. And yes, there were a... more>> lot of named characters that were barely mentioned. However, these things are minor and easy to overlook. This is a fantasy novel. If you think that every single thing in it is real, you are delusional. I 100% recommend! Oh, and major props to the translator. It must have been difficult, but it turned out very well! <<less

I liked this one. It's definitely part of the slice of life genre but I didn't feel like that was the only thing that the story was about. We get real people, real life issues, and adult (and not s*upid) decisioning making by our main and secondary characters.

Basically, minus the rapid uptick of the fantastical at the end of the story, it's a good, solid, and sweet read. It made me feel like my soul was drinking hot chocolate on a cold winter's day.

I just finished this novel and I really liked it.

Even if it's a slice of life, it only slightly lacked more action to me but it still was very good and the characters were well developped.

The translation is awesome.

A slow gently healing tranquil kind of story.

Perfectly captured the essence of the title.

Don't expect much rollercoaster ride, but if y'all need some fluff, give it a read! 👍

Very fluffy and light novel. I loved the ML and MC and theire relationship

I dont have any gripes with this novel and would recommend it to everyone.

I also really loved the MCs Power and how it was used. Is didnt make him super OP and I really apriciate that. I kind of felt that his real Superpower was being good natured and likeable.

Very cute book and a perfekt pallet clenser. I also think the length was perfect.

Wow... I feel like I could start recycling after reading this...

This book is an anti-pollution propaganda disguised as a fluffy transmigration story. It works pretty well though. The novel’s a good blend of wealthy corporation drama, plant-growing slice of life fun, warmhearted family moments. Both MC & ML are able to fill what each lacked with the help of one another. ML is quite the character—he can easily be defined as the type to love you so much he’ll stalk you... literally. He’s a bit of an extremist but... more>> what can I say when this is a man deprived of affection all his life. Not surprised that he latches onto MC like crazy. HOWEVER, something that’s even more incredulous, is the fact that MC was treated like a spare tire kit for his older brother. That is insane. Very reminiscent of that one arc in Face of the Devil— you know which one. I appreciate that this is a story of indirect revenge; justice is served, but I think it’s nice that MC focuses more on the present & future rather than the past.

I’ve learned about more plants & flowers than I’ve wanted to, but then again that was a pit I dug for myself. I knew what I was getting myself into. The setting’s an interesting modern fantasy, definitely leaning more on the fantastical notes as we progress through the story. The extras are where it’s at !!! <<less

A sweet story that focuses on the two of protagonists in the now and not the families in their backstories. Not a face-slapping novel. The book is full of nice people wanting to do good in the world around them.

I liked their relationship. They have well matched codependencies. While YY does sometimes treat LLX as a kid, he mostly treats him with respect. They both have their area of expertise and trust the other to manage their area.

I loved that LLX participated in the coming out conversation with his mom... more>> and they didn't have the older lover have a private conversation with the parents. I really hate that trope. If a person is judged too young to take part in the conversation, then aren't they too young to date at all? So, yeah, loved that LLX just popped up and said he was all in AND MOM LISTENED. She adjusted to the idea pretty quickly.

I loved the new stepdad and how he interacted with LLX. He likes LLX and his whole family sees a stepkid as a positive! No conniving step-family! Boring trope avoided.

No explicit s*x scenes, but you could tell YY was considerate because there was none of the s*upid stuff about LLX not being able to move, get up, function, etc the next day. So, another terrible trope avoided.

A very pleasant read. Not super exciting, but plenty happening in this slice of life with evolving plants, smart animals, kind people, a touch of business dealings, and a smidge of family drama. <<less

It's a good novel to read when you don't want any intense drama. There's some family drama (as described in the synopsis + some bg drama in ML's end) but it doesn't take up the whole story. It's mostly slice of life, as other reviews have mentioned.

MC's very naive (understandably, lived a sheltered life his entire prev life) and wouldn't have made it far if he had to face the world for himself and didn't have ML protecting him. ML is also obsessive and jealous af, to the point of... more>> stalkerish. He's also self-aware. But like most novels, it was passed off without much consequence. So if you're not ok with that, then probs don't pick this novel. Personally I didn't mind it all that much... I've read worse.

Ah the best part of this is how the translator will add wiki pages of the plants MC was growing 👌 so you can see what they look like and have the impulsive urge to go buy potted plants. <<less

This is a no-no-NOOOO drama kind of narrative.

This is a slice of life so is pretty chill buuuut it has all thaaat draaammaa potencial (hiding a relationship, hiding habilities, running away from families) yet the character say and do what they need to avoid the dramaaa.

MC is cute and naive but not s*upid wich is understandable, he is likeble and pretty standard MC

... more>> His family is really original... I like the dad more that the mother tho

The dooooog ❤️❤️ that's all I have to say

The ML is quite standard (mental isuess and all) so his mentality is a bit off at the beggining (someone said gooming tendencies up in the coments) and he is, but isnt at the same time cuz he gets well out of nowhere soo... Yeah

Read to chill, it's drama free, a pure slice of life!!! <<less

Cute story. I was entertained.

Not my favorite farming (plant) novel, but it was a nice pastime.

Only the last chapter seemed to be rushed alot, as if author wanted to end quickly and just slapped a 3 month periode and some fance systemupdate in and concluded afterwards....

But all in all enjoyed myselfe.

A good slice of life supernatural story. Great relaxing story saving the environment, love the flowers, plant information, cute pets and fluffy moments. There’s not much drama, those just serve as background build up for both protagonists. Good read, recommended for those want some feel good read. Tq

So far I enjoy the story and agree with the other reviews that it is a nice slice of life story filled with "fantasy" elements, however the author does lack knowledge in certain areas or gives information about really mundane stuff, like what does photosynthesis do? And over the course of the story I realize how naive the MC ist, his train of thoughts are on a child's level basically. And this is not bad per se, just that there's a predator ML harassing him. I wrote this review especially... more>> due to my dislike towards this ML, as I'm rarely disgusted by MLs in these novels but he's one of my most disliked MLs up to date. I tend to skip parts which include him because he honestly doesn't fit in the story yet forces his way through.

On another note, the translator did an excellent job in translating so reading it is smooth so in total I recommend this novel but I would have enjoyed it more had there been no predator ML. <<less

This is actually a pretty cute story about finding yourself and that the best revenge is living well.

I’m actually not that big a fan of Alice of life stories like this one was, but I liked it. There was enough plot and character development that it was very satisfying, and the plot didn’t seemed rushed.

The resolution, or the ending on the other hand was pretty rushed, leaving quite a few questions for me as to what’s going on. I was hoping the extras would answer, but no such luck. I... more>> am finding though that a lot of Chinese novels tend to end very abruptly, at least to me.

Overall, a very cute story and would recommend and read again. <<less

Love it so far. And I love MC's current mom. She's so great and truly loves MC. And to some degree, even tho I feel bad that her actual son was replaced by the MC, her thinking it's amnesia feels like she's learning to love the MC as he is right now.

update 1 : This is actually the first story (I think) I've read where the MC is reborn into another body in the same world and timeline as his previous body. I appreciate how the previous life isn't just... more>> thrown away and was just used to start the story. Details about it still come up later too.

Update 2 : The entire story was cute. There was an overarching plot/theme, the family stuff was tied up, ML and some characters figured out MC's secret, MC got the family he deserved, and overall it was a sweet romantic story. Except maybe the stalker/manipulative behavior of the ML but his character stayed consistent the entire way so there's that so I just say at least it's fiction! <<less

Unlike RDW, another novel by this author, this novel gave more of a slow and relaxed kind of reading experience with not a lot of drama. Just like you would expect from a slice of life novel.

I generally enjoyed the reading experience. Although I do have a few small complaints.

  • The MC is a bit too soft for my taste. I get that he grew up isolated and was practically groomed to be an obedient puppet. But his holy mother, self-sacrificing, goody two-shoes ways really makes me wanna give him a few slaps sometimes. I don't even care that he is a Gary Stu, I just don't care for his personality.
  • A literal snake whose main source of food are other snakes in nature is being fed sweets. It even goes so far that one of his teeth fell off. WTF?! I get that the novel has fantasy elements, but it just doesn't sit right with me how they treat the snake like an accessory and feed it unhealthy and unsuitable food. Wouldn't you consider that animal abuse?
Spoiler
  • Lu Wei'an had leukemia. But why do he and his mother blame his father for it just because he caused the mother stress during pregnancy, leading to her giving birth prematurely which in turn ended with Lu Wei'an being born with weak immune system. They treat leukemia like pneumonia, literally saying that he got it after catching a cold one time. Things don't work like that. You don't catch blood cancer just because your immune system is weak due to a common cold.
    [collapse]
Needless to say that common sense/realism is not a strong suit of this novel. But, hey, there are a few likeable characters like the new mom and the new step family, etc., basically people the MC meets in his new life with the exception of the antagonists, of course. They all like to coddle the MC though which I don't necessarily like.

The same goes for the ML. While I can't complain about his character I do question whether or not he has not at least partially groomed the MC who was like new born chick sticking to the first one who unconditionally treated him well. It doesn't help that even the author wrote that the ML was "raising a son" not just once but a few times. Had the author not written that, I might not have thought in that direction. But here we are...

The plot itself was okay. I did skip the first four extra chapters since I wasn't interested in the side couple. But I won't deduct points for that. I will just end my review with the conclusion that I preferred RDW to this novel as it was more suitable to my tastes.

Either way, you can make up your own opinion when you read the novel. <<less

This would've actually been a great novel if the ML didn't exist at all. Ig it's on me for not reading tags but the ML is a too possesive/obssesive/stalkerish and the attraction of ML towards the MC feels so inorganic. I'm only at chapter 22 and I don't think I can continue reading this despite wanting to see how MC develops himself in terms of his maturity and learning about the world (bc he has been trapped his whole life as a donor), his education, his relationships, the system, his... more>> knowledge abt plants, etc. But holy, the ML's existence just bothers me too much to enjoy the novel.

I miscl**ked and should've rated it 2 stars. <<less

I liked the relationships and the community the MC created but the fantasy elements were throwing me off.

Spoiler

Animals can communicate with humans and no one seems to think its weird?? Everyone accepts it so easily.

I suspended my disbelief the first time but it keeps happening on a bigger scale and no one seems to care? The ML is just *shrugs* what can you do vibes.

Other than that it's a calm read, a peaceful slice of life.
