That’s right. The Apocalypse. In a single blink Zombies appeared and mutated monsters began to rampage all throughout the world. Now it was the human species turn to fight for survival and planetary dominance!
On the same day that the world descends into chaos we meet Yue Zhong. Initially only hoping to get to his friends and escape to a refugee camp our protagonist sets out, inadvertently building a team along the way. After a series of fortuitous events and a few serious hunches our hero decides it’s time to do more than just survive!
Yue Zhong begins to form the foundations of an enormous survival plan… before he suddenly discovers that he has only gotten over the first hurdle…. Unbeknownst to Yue Zhong and company, the world outside of China is mostly a wasteland! Country sized swathes of nuclear radiation and an extreme shortage of supplies in the world after the nuclear explosions was quickly becoming the “norm”. Mutants, Evolved animals and what’s worse, intelligent out of control dinosaurs had quickly appeared and claimed their own sections of the planet. There were several innately powerful Evolved races which appeared that were more than 10 times stronger than humans, nearly all of them possessing bodies impenetrable by normal bullets. The fabled orcs’ were another of these Evolved races, the leader of which had in fact ens*aved many of the remaining human beings.
Unceremoniously exposed to such a cold and heartless new world, Yue Zhong is faced with a choice: Find a deep dark hole and hope it goes back to “normal”? Or overcome all obstacles and struggle towards Evolution!!!

- Because it's better than those cultivation cliches. This novel took the cultivation to next level and didn't just destroy the entire creation like some novel.
- Protagonist grows and isn't OP at all but do become when he gets the imprint..
- Last one, Items and World building (here universe building) was better than average
The things I... more>>- Bad translation. It starts at the MTL level and many parts are just improvised. Mistakes in names. Annoying comments are placed in the middle of the text. Something wrong must be with your head in order to leave some jeering comments when there is a description of a family starving for 6 days. But the worst is censorship. For example:
There was a moment when the author wrote "Women can give birth and increase the population, " but the translator added a whole fake paragraph trying to tone it down.
Or, later on, the author wrote something like "Men's average body quality is stronger than women, and is the best fighter, " but the translator changed it to "Men are usually, but not always, stronger than women, and trend to make better warriors." The same way "fat-looking middle-aged woman" turns to "middle-aged woman with a slightly obese figure."
I can continue this forever. This is a scum-level translation considering that the quality isn't much better from MTL. I understand, the MC sounds misogynistic from the point of modern social norms or biased from the view of readers all over the world. He is Chinese, maybe racist or patriotic, I don't really care. The author gives us reasons why the MC is such a character, and the reader is the one who will choose if he wants to read the novel because of that or not.
This is not the translator's job, to make the novel friendly for everyone while destroying the original. The translator should refrain from translation if he doesn't agree with the author. He shouldn't hide under the pretext of making the novel better. What he really wants is to cover a larger audience for the sake of fame or money.
It's so tiresome to compare each chapter with MTL. The translator is very incompetent.
- Plot uncertainty. It looks like the author doesn't know in which way to proceed with the story. There are lots of fillers that exist just to consume your time. When the story is switching from character-driven to events-driven it turns especially bad. Some minor and major subplots are even copying each other almost completely.
- Redundancy of action. The author focuses on events and every small detail too much; for example, how the MC swings his sword this how he shoots his rifle that. The story should be paying attention to characters and interpersonal interactions too.
- Too many characters; it's hard to remember them and everyone besides a small group is shallow and one dimensional. Often you can meet a random named character that will die in 2 minutes with zero contribution to the story. Tip:
Writing names and descriptions to some txt document helps a lot (wiki contains spoilers). For now, I've counted about 196 different characters (as of c305). The translation quality makes it only worse.
- Anything you can expect from z-novel is there. Zombies, r*pes, madness, survival, and so on.
- PTSD harem for connoisseurs of kinky fetishes. Sure, the romance is discounted because of the zombie virus outbreak, but
each charmain harem members have their personalities and differences. The only problem is, considering how many characters and action this novel has, there is not enough screentime for relationships. So you can expect the harem to blend into the background as the story proceeds.- Characters descriptions! Finally, Chinese author who understands how to describe the character's outlook. Hairstyles, clothes, body type, age. Godly.
- Main character development. The MC matures a lot in the process. And it doesn't feel jarring. Though...I have a feeling that he is psycho and emotionally worn-out or even unfeeling. Potential drawback.
- Motivation to learn Mandarin. I can recommend it to someone who searches for a zombie apocalypse story. But don't expect a 5/5 gem, this novel is a usual cultivation story with all its flaws, just retold in a modern way. It does show things you want to see in a story about zombies though.
The novel has a good foundation with the story setting. The first 100 chapters or so are quite good with a refreshing feel compared to most Chinese novels but it gets quite repetitive after the first arc with a cycle of fighting a harem building, but it's not boring since the author doesn't use the same fighting method just powered up but adds new stuff. The repetitive stuff should stop after some time when the MC gets strong to a certain point. Usually this is solved by a time skip but I think that the author wasn't to show the progression of how humanity turns in a post apocalyptic setting.
Though I think that the author over exaggerates how bad it would be. Plus the author is most likely racist and sexist and has issues with the way government is run since he expresses those feeling quite strongly that it might put people off. This isn't a novel that you go nagg your francs to read but it is certainly enjoyable if I had to find any major issues that would turn me off from reading sometimes it's that the author keeps repeating himself about explaining when the characters act the way they do.
