In less than an instant the world as we knew it was at its end.

That’s right. The Apocalypse. In a single blink Zombies appeared and mutated monsters began to rampage all throughout the world. Now it was the human species turn to fight for survival and planetary dominance!

On the same day that the world descends into chaos we meet Yue Zhong. Initially only hoping to get to his friends and escape to a refugee camp our protagonist sets out, inadvertently building a team along the way. After a series of fortuitous events and a few serious hunches our hero decides it’s time to do more than just survive!

Yue Zhong begins to form the foundations of an enormous survival plan… before he suddenly discovers that he has only gotten over the first hurdle…. Unbeknownst to Yue Zhong and company, the world outside of China is mostly a wasteland! Country sized swathes of nuclear radiation and an extreme shortage of supplies in the world after the nuclear explosions was quickly becoming the “norm”. Mutants, Evolved animals and what’s worse, intelligent out of control dinosaurs had quickly appeared and claimed their own sections of the planet. There were several innately powerful Evolved races which appeared that were more than 10 times stronger than humans, nearly all of them possessing bodies impenetrable by normal bullets. The fabled orcs’ were another of these Evolved races, the leader of which had in fact ens*aved many of the remaining human beings.

Unceremoniously exposed to such a cold and heartless new world, Yue Zhong is faced with a choice: Find a deep dark hole and hope it goes back to “normal”? Or overcome all obstacles and struggle towards Evolution!!!

Gore, Cruelty, Super Ultra Racism & Sexism, Pedophilia, 99.9% of women are b*tches or r*pe material in the story. Tr*sh Romance. Tr*sh interaction. Cool Fights. Alpha MC.

The racism in the story is toned down thanks to the Translator who tries his hardest to change the sentences. But sexism is very bad in this one, author is very affected of the idea in china where women are being looked down on I read many chinese novels but it was never this bad.

The cruelty, I think this part of the novel... more>> where I fell inlove. I love reading stories with lots of cruelty but the MC must either be on unaffected side or the one who does cruel things. The only reason I'm reading this is mostly because of this and the Strength Growth of the MC. I enjoy seeing him improving and he's also competent, but on book 2 you'll realize that the author lacks real life experiences, the MC isn't socially-awkward in the story but when he appears on places where he should be talking to people like gatherings of important goverment officials he can't even make proper conversation with them and when someone tr*shtalking him then he suddenly literally shouted "Kneel before me!!!" then the author will narrate the whole thing without the MC voicing any more words and conversation ended just like that, there doesn't even a proper conversation and aside from wars where he gave orders to subordinates his thoughts are mostly narrated. MC is like a machine character and his so-called bestfriend is just a convenient character that is there take care of his things like a s*ave. But despite all that I still enjoy it but MC become dumb on book 3 so I dropped. Plot: 4/5

Characters: 1/5

Concept: 3/5

Translation: 5/5

Enjoyment: 4/5 <<less

The storyline is okay for me but I do not understand the purpose of this novel. What messages are the author trying to convey or what can I learn from this novel. The MC is quite anti-hero. And there are quite a lot of r*pe scenes, the author even wrote it in details which I do not think it is something that needs to be clearly elaborated. In addition, the villains and the supporting characters are quite one dimensional. All I see that this novel only promotes racism, violence, s*xual... more>> abuse and many gory stuffs. The world we are living in is not Shangri-La but we are not living in hell as well. A novel can reveal how the society or world can be perceived but this kind of writing, I only see the dark side of humanity without any productive element. Racism and s*xual abuse are always instilled in our society but I do not see a reason for the author to frequently use it in almost every chapters. What the author is trying to do can only induce more dark side of humanity to the readers instead of conveying a more constructive message.

I do not even understand the ending. The ending is very unsatisfactory to me. Perhaps for a drama, it might work but for a novel, it is very lacking in impact. The ending does not evoke any curiousity at all. It does not feel right to me as a reader. <<less

Coming into this novel I did not expect much, I would read a ln or wn for a while and drop it. This novel with it's rating of 3.6 I did not expect much but this novel delivered more than any novel in it's genre has for me. This review is full of opinion and is not fact but I feel my opinion has value for any future readers. This novel changes as you read threw it and as it progresses later having some cultivation and other Chinese/Korean novel troupes.... more>> However this does not subtract from the novels excellence or my enjoyment as a reader. With in my opinion a happy ending and good writing I rate this novel extremely high. Though parts of this novel may be cliche and maybe a little stretched out and repeated, this is still a very good choice to read and I recommend this novel from the bottom of my heart. <<less

Okay. Lower rating of 3.6 is actually just some salty people trying to denounce something good. I have read plenty of novels and to me this novel do deserve to be in between 3.9 to 4.1 stars.

The reason:-

  • Because it's better than those cultivation cliches. This novel took the cultivation to next level and didn't just destroy the entire creation like some novel.
  • Protagonist grows and isn't OP at all but do become when he gets the imprint..
  • Last one, Items and World building (here universe building) was better than average
The things I... more>> didn't like in the novel:-

  • The final villian (GOD) was a total bummer. Sighh
  • Even though novel was satisfactory, ending chaps were done in pretty rush
  • I missed many chapters during my reading sessions.
So this is all I have to say regarding this novel. Definitely a good one.. <<less

5 stars for those who wants a new type of journey...

Below 2.5 stars for those who mind r*pe, racism in this novel...

Read it, it is not a so bad novel and also not so good novel...

Still better novel than many of those out there...

Starts as Zombie type, system novel with game elements and goes as Conquering the whole world, whole realm, by reaching the Top as cultivation novel.

There are lot of girls in his harem and it doesn't matter.

So far this is the best z-novel here. It's not the best novel possible though, and I'm not speaking about the author being racist or misogynistic. We shouldn't downrate the novel based on unobjective preferences. Don't expect a fluffy reading from the novel about the social order downfall. There are plenty of other cons to choose from to pull it to pieces objectively.

Cons:
- Bad translation. It starts at the MTL level and many parts are just improvised. Mistakes in names. Annoying comments are placed in the middle of the... more>> text. Something wrong must be with your head in order to leave some jeering comments when there is a description of a family starving for 6 days. But the worst is censorship. For example:

Spoiler

There was a moment when the author wrote "Women can give birth and increase the population, " but the translator added a whole fake paragraph trying to tone it down.

Or, later on, the author wrote something like "Men's average body quality is stronger than women, and is the best fighter, " but the translator changed it to "Men are usually, but not always, stronger than women, and trend to make better warriors." The same way "fat-looking middle-aged woman" turns to "middle-aged woman with a slightly obese figure."

I can continue this forever. This is a scum-level translation considering that the quality isn't much better from MTL. I understand, the MC sounds misogynistic from the point of modern social norms or biased from the view of readers all over the world. He is Chinese, maybe racist or patriotic, I don't really care. The author gives us reasons why the MC is such a character, and the reader is the one who will choose if he wants to read the novel because of that or not.

This is not the translator's job, to make the novel friendly for everyone while destroying the original. The translator should refrain from translation if he doesn't agree with the author. He shouldn't hide under the pretext of making the novel better. What he really wants is to cover a larger audience for the sake of fame or money.

It's so tiresome to compare each chapter with MTL. The translator is very incompetent.

[collapse]
- MC is too OP. He can steamroll any threat alone. But, from the other side, the novel's focus is continuously shifting from MC to kingdom building, so this is not an irredeemable flaw.
- Plot uncertainty. It looks like the author doesn't know in which way to proceed with the story. There are lots of fillers that exist just to consume your time. When the story is switching from character-driven to events-driven it turns especially bad. Some minor and major subplots are even copying each other almost completely.
- Redundancy of action. The author focuses on events and every small detail too much; for example, how the MC swings his sword this how he shoots his rifle that. The story should be paying attention to characters and interpersonal interactions too.
- Too many characters; it's hard to remember them and everyone besides a small group is shallow and one dimensional. Often you can meet a random named character that will die in 2 minutes with zero contribution to the story. Tip:
Spoiler

Writing names and descriptions to some txt document helps a lot (wiki contains spoilers). For now, I've counted about 196 different characters (as of c305). The translation quality makes it only worse.

[collapse]

Pros:
- Anything you can expect from z-novel is there. Zombies, r*pes, madness, survival, and so on.
- PTSD harem for connoisseurs of kinky fetishes. Sure, the romance is discounted because of the zombie virus outbreak, but each char main harem members have their personalities and differences. The only problem is, considering how many characters and action this novel has, there is not enough screentime for relationships. So you can expect the harem to blend into the background as the story proceeds.
- Characters descriptions! Finally, Chinese author who understands how to describe the character's outlook. Hairstyles, clothes, body type, age. Godly.
- Main character development. The MC matures a lot in the process. And it doesn't feel jarring. Though...I have a feeling that he is psycho and emotionally worn-out or even unfeeling. Potential drawback.
- Motivation to learn Mandarin.

I can recommend it to someone who searches for a zombie apocalypse story. But don't expect a 5/5 gem, this novel is a usual cultivation story with all its flaws, just retold in a modern way. It does show things you want to see in a story about zombies though. <<less

Having a look at this one that has gotten recommended to me quite a few times over the last few years, I was really surprised at first since the translation is being done over at webnovel. Your in for a surprise since chapter 1 there is not actually chapter 1 but actually chapter 193 in the story, so when I started reading about how a Z1 was controlling all the evolved zombies then died or that a bunch of L2 was attacking, together with S2's and a bunch of evolved... more>> zombies I had no idea what was going on. The story is finished and the translator over there said he would translate the earlier chapters some 4-5 months ago but no a single chapter has been done so far.

Anyways onto the story in itself, I found it to be extremely bland and boring to be honest. The translation and editing might have hurt the story somewhat. But that doesn't change the fact that the author quite often likes to repeat things over the chapters or even within the same chapter. For instance in the first 10-15 chapters or so the author will at least once or twice in every chapter mention in length how dangerous it is to be even scratched by a zombie and you will get infected and then turn into a zombie. He would also repeatedly tell us why the MC keeps investing stat points into stamina and how the MC needs to rest to refill his stamina. I kid you not with saying that probably at least 5-10% of the first 10-15 chapters are about zombie infection and how the MC needs stamina.

As in most chinese novels women simply throw themselves at MC and people pop out of no where to tell MC what to do or call him a douche just to give the MC someone to go whack a mole on. In some stories the head-bashing and such can be fun, entertaining or at least mildly interesting. In this story however it just feels dumb.

In someways this feels like a very unpolished story written very poorly but has gotten a bit of a rep simply because it was one of the earliest CN being translated and put into circulation so there wasn't that much to choose from or compare with.

I would strongly recommend not spending time reading this story since I at least found it being a waste of my time having read it. <<less

Complete this novel

I'd say this novel is good at first part then getting worse at second part when Yue Zhong goes to the second world. Worse than that is he is too OP in late story if you read chapter 1000+ I'm still have a little regret of reading this novel to the end. It's like: Everything happen too fast he kill Type 10 dragon in 1 chapter and snap a finger to kill True god. Holy mother... I think the author wants this story to end now or lazy... more>> to write more so he put The End earlier than I thought. <<less

Slowly became a big fan of this story. There's definitely a bunch of similar tropes as in the light novels I've previously read, though there's also some quite interesting parts (not necessarily unique though). Would recommend, unless of course you're easily triggered or PC.

I do like that there's attempts at a balance of power, since the author does repeat multiple times that Enhancers/Evolvers aren't omnipotent since modern warfare can take them down easily. While the MC is growing to be an exception to this "rule", YZ's rate of growth is... more>> sufficiently fast to make me satisfied though he keeps meeting very strong enemies in terms of countries/counties, zombies, and mutated beasts that still increase the tension beyond a desired level. Sigh. Tbh I get pretty disappointed when YZ is almost killed by a team of Evolvers/Enhancers almost 20 levels below him. Be prepared for some eye rolls when the author beams YZ to some other county/country/world randomly when YZ is least expecting it. Especially since the author takes advantage of this to keep using the YZ's weak bc he's in a new land so he has to go around gathering soldiers to fight against one of the strongest forces in the new land cycle. Also, sometimes you're just like YZ you lucky bastard. There are multiple times when he's in a quandary and surprise he kills something and the exact thing he wants or needs is picked up as a reward. Who would have known?

I do enjoy the huge harem building, though at this point idek if it's still a harem bc there should be some divide between his actual lovers and the like maids and other people who he doesn't care about as much. He even sleeps with random people who want his protection. Please have some standards at least. But I do enjoy the often pretty strong women who he has around him, as well as his generals/commanders esp CY. I feel like CY should get some more character development, especially later in the story when he basically disappears. I feel pretty bad for him bc of YZ's constant disappearances and general failure as a person ;). There's a bunch of times when there's girls who want to control YZ, and it's pretty annoying when YZ just goes along with them. He has an unhealthy tendency for lolis that is sometimes kind of disturbing. I don't understand how YZ is so weak towards girls, especially since he's gotten colder and more ruthless. He needs to control himself man. Honestly why are there so many frickin pe*ophiles in this story. Humans suck.

Side note: if you just read through the chapter titles of the story, it's pretty hilarious. It sounds like an elementary schooler named the chapters, and basically every chapter title ends in an exclamation point. I guess Chinese novels have never been great at naming their chapters though.

I would say I am a bigger fan of this apocalypse world than the ones in I Have a Mansion and Rebirth of MC. The many worlds system is pretty entertaining, and while the author stops emphasizing the Dark Knight class, the initial RPG concept was quite interesting. Whenever I read I get reminded of 7 Days to Die and The Forest. Guess I've watched too much gameplay of those. Ha and then the wuxia/cultivation world made me lol.

Read around 100 chapters of LNMTL, which wasn't terrible though there's a bunch of inconsistent keywords that can give you a headache. Decided to pause bc I'm a bigger fan of comedic fare, and speed reading 1000 chapters of more serious and severe plot is grinding on my nerves. Especially so since in the arcs I paused at, YZ is facing enemies 2 levels higher than him which is basically impossible. Why you give me so much stress. But when I have more time and less triggered nerves, I'll be back to finish this off. <<less

Look, this is a typical Chinese webnovel power fantasy novel.

MC is a generic f*ckboi in a generic novel. He is the center of the world. The world moves around him. Everyone before him is literally idiots or morons. Fun, if you are into power fantasies. Good for that adrenaline rush. The story is good if you are not already sick of reading the same sh*t over and over again (kill me I did)

Bad point? The novel is one step away from being on literotica. Literally everyone woman exist to... more>> get f*cked by him or get f*cked by some other male in the novel. r*pe, r*pe, r*pe, forced s*x, BD*M, r*pe.... jesus I cannot take this sh*t anymore. At some point it became so ridiculous I gave up. It is novels like this that forced Qidian to implement a stricter policy on webnovels. You can thank novels like this for the reason why s*x scenes and sexually explicit language suddenly got a lot more scares on your Chinese webnovels. God... the author, given what he has expressed through his words, is someone I would not like to meet. Like really not like to meet.

Do you subscribe to r/Redpill and think that you are a Chad? Do you subscribe to r/incels and think that woman should suck your d*ck at a moments notice and owe you the world? Then read this novel and enjoy. <<less

To be honest, I am not recommend to people who wants read novel this except you got no problem with Racisms and sexisms in this novel. Yeah I get it that the author try to express how corrupted the world is. Too bad the author over do it. You will get annoying tobyit. The plots are badly executed. Aside MC, other people are s*upid, dumb and weak. The MC in this novel is unrealistic! His women isntead supporting him, they try how to win him for protections by selling their... more>> bodies. It almost like these people in this novel never watch movie or play rpg.

Spoiler

He din't care about his family members. Instead he make himself busy with ''how to make harem 101'' From underage girls to elder women. He already f*cked them all. He din't give a sh*t about his family. He more like, '' Mehh my parents and siblings already die, screw it, better I spread my bloodline.'' He is not loyal. And he even dare call other people piece of ****. Pffffff

Women in this novel is nothing but s*x machine. I guess this author got problem with women in his life.

So not recommend to read this shit. Unless you got mental problems or family problems or woman problems. <<less

This novel started out rather okay, though a bit boring since everything the MC does and says is on constant repeat; there's no surprises at all that makes you go "wow" or "ooh" and that's unfortunate. Either the MC dominates everyone and everything or slaughter man and monsters. But considering the novel's genre the author manages to depict a chaotic world, the dark side of mankind and I think it's great that the author at least tries to stick to the basics for what makes a true apocalypse novel with... more>> a great amount of sci-fi mixed in.

That being said, after ch. 306 it's downhill from there and here's the reason why:

As not to reveal too much, I will only point out that the author unfortunately neglects (to an extreme!) all the other great characters we've been introduced too before ch. 306. And that's a damn shame. I know Yue Zhong is the MC, but it gets immensely tiring being introduced to new characters all the time. The MC is constantly travelling and conquering and while it's great the novel is fast paced, I think it's sorely lacking some everyday chapters where the reader gets to read about the daily life, army building, brotherhood and empire building, that sort of chapters. Only reading about the MC and his constant fighting gets a bit too boring. I need diversity! <<less

Honestly this series had so much potential but this author is just a nationalistic maybe a little to into lolis. They made a game system from what I can tell it really wouldn’t be to hard to become OP if he just applied less to taking over cities and teleporting to the other side of Asia this would get 3 Stars. But they went as far as to pull effective makes Star Wars feel shame level laser gun tech and flying saucers that shoot many many lasers. The author... more>> put the Chinese are perfect but the other Chinese people raping and killing aren’t as bad as the others. Thinking that the Chinese are the best just because your Chinese is an annoying concept that is everywhere. The lack of respect he has towards women is utterly annoying and one of his “harem” members is his cousin I mean seriously his cousin. So all around like the others this is good till chapter 100-200 after that it’s tr*sh. <<less

It's basically brilliant novel

Mainly focused on army building, kingdom building, military, evolution and so on...

I loved parts when MC was taking over new countries and establishing his own regime.

... more>> This novel has three parts which are best of the best

1. Polygamy - number of woman he has is high really high and later he even got feeling for some of them

2. Kingdom Builing/Army Building - as lover of Kingdom/Army building I loved this especially when you see that his army and kingdom are playing some role in story

3. Evolution - interesting evolution with God and Devil System and constant power upping

So definitely read this. Even release rate isn't too bad. <<less

This is one of my favorite novels, the novel portrays human nature realistically in a post-apocalyptic world. At least it's not all sunshine and rainbow. There is a thing with sexism and slight nationalist view, but if you get past that part, I almost guarantee you'll love this novel.

God and Devil World is a really interesting read. It touches on many sensitive subjects that most novels wouldn't due to the controversy. There is a lot of racism, I don't particularly mind the author's bias towards the Chinese, but there were other races hating on the Chinese in the novel too.

The novel also has a realistic depiction of how the world would be like in an apocalypse, the degrading of morality as humans take pleasure in cruel and pe*verted acts.

Did I mention the amount of sexism in this novel?... more>> The author tends to depict female as a breeding tool to repopulate mankind, whereas men are more useful for fighting and heavy labor. It could be insulting to some, but it generally won't affect your enjoyment in reading the novel.

There could be some grammar mistakes here and there, but it doesn't pose much of a problem having an enjoyable read. <<less

Decent post apocalyptic/zombie novel. I like the addition of game elements to the whole. A bit formulaic and repetitive.

However, it has a few points which GREATLY takes away from the novel.

All the lolis. I'm not a fan of the harem setting overall, though I can buy it more in this kind of setting. The women flock toward the dude who can mow down all the zombies and get them food/shelter. But why does it have to be (not exclusively, but A LOT) a bunch of kids

The racism/blind nationalism. The author... more>> clearly has some issues himself with foreigners. It is no surprise that multiple translators has given up on this novel. Almost every foreigner is a HARDCORE racist for some reason. The Europeans all call the Chinese "yellow monkeys" all the time (a term I never have heard as a European). Every time the MC comes in contact with foreigners (European/Thai/Japanese), those communities have all gone full Nazi.

I mean global business consortia trying to attain world domination with their technology and wide networks was a good nemesis for MC by itself. Why did the author have to make them fanatic Nazis as well? It makes no sense.

The beginner villages. WHY DOES HE NEVER GO BACK? It drives me crazy. He's had helicopters and flying mounts for the longest time. He has a bunch of currency to use to upgrade weapons and get more skills. He could help all his allies get their classes and make them a lot stronger. But 500ch later and he still haven't revisited. He did recently get some specific upgrade stones recently though from some random monster kills, and with MC's plot armor that means he's gonna need it soon, so I'm guessing he'll visit a beginner village in a few chapters.

Would probably be a 2 star if I didn't really like post apocalyptic novels. Dropped it at ~300ch, then again now at 540ch. Came back for the action and powerups, left because Japan arc is pretty much Thai arc v.1.01. <<less

I WONT RATE IT TILL I DECIDE TO DROP IT OR I FINISH IT. On chapter 400 ish
The novel has a good foundation with the story setting. The first 100 chapters or so are quite good with a refreshing feel compared to most Chinese novels but it gets quite repetitive after the first arc with a cycle of fighting a harem building, but it's not boring since the author doesn't use the same fighting method just powered up but adds new stuff. The repetitive stuff should stop after some... more>> time when the MC gets strong to a certain point. Usually this is solved by a time skip but I think that the author wasn't to show the progression of how humanity turns in a post apocalyptic setting.
Though I think that the author over exaggerates how bad it would be. Plus the author is most likely racist and sexist and has issues with the way government is run since he expresses those feeling quite strongly that it might put people off. This isn't a novel that you go nagg your francs to read but it is certainly enjoyable if I had to find any major issues that would turn me off from reading sometimes it's that the author keeps repeating himself about explaining when the characters act the way they do. <<less

Many people may hate this novel because of the exssive nationalism, fast/random tempo and the s*x. The MC is also weird, but in my opinion this is what make things interesting. This series is also pretty realistic, considering what happened after some countries were destroyed after revolution and in this case A TOTAL APOCALIPS! It real realistic to say that a lot of bad emotion will be present when one need to fight constantly for his life. In my opinion, the most important aspect of a story is whether... more>> or not it is able to enchant you, make you want to read the next chapter- and in this aspect, this story pass with flying colors. <<less

I really want to like this novel, but I can't. It should be awesome. Zombie's, Game Elements, Skeleton Minion.

But the first 20 chapters is written like playing through generic quests in a bad MMORPG... Slice of zombie head... Find drop, Travel to point A, Slice of a zombie head, Scout Point A while skeleton minion chops of zombie head. Travel to point B and meet people, say 5 lines of default quest text, slice of zombie head.

Repeat, rinse and spit.

I mean I hardly ever give under a 3 star rating,... more>> but this story disappointed me so much... I mean... I admit to being a terrible writer, and I know for sure I could make the opening chapters of a zombie appocolypse better.

Just add power leveling teammates, to get mates who at least are not a burden. Or a little more horror, anything to add to the most generic writing ever. <<less
