Its a post apocalyptic world setting where you follow mc trying to survive, picture the novel/film the road, with its grim dark depressive tone coupled with mutated creatures and radiation zones. Its more grounded combat wise compared to all the other novels on the list, which makes it stand out more.

Out of all the novels here this is the writing style i like the most, the author goes into great length to describe the look of the environment, the characters and the overall mood of the area adding to great immersion. Which i find much better than the mc said this looking grumpy, then he did this etc like most Korean novels, just read the first chapter you'll know.

Its a step above everything else on the list. Only minus is the genre jumps.

 grounded in a medival fantasy setting with swords,bows,magic,monsters, demons and gods.

to sum it up: War, kingdom building, from zero to hero, nothing to king, weak to strong typical underdog story.

Warfare takes a decent chunk of the novel, luckily the author does not go in depth with every battle so you dont get burnt out by it. Total war warhammer sums up the setting and fights, constant war with large armies that got special units and heroes/characters that can turn the tide of war but at the same time they can still fall to superior numbers and being ganged up on. Mc is a mage and its fairly balanced, none of that huge power gap thats in cultivation novels

If you want a break from your typical Chinese cultivation and Korean lvl up novel this is it. 

One bad thing about it is that the ending is rushed,  the last 200-300 chapters the author clearly got bored or realised he would have to commit another 1k chapters to tie up the loose ends.

Its really sad, it makes me consider not having it on this list. I at least can recommend you to not start first with novel <<less

There is a downside, the 20s volume got wonky translation due to the author only approving 20 volumes being translated since English translation soon (10 years ago btw) obviously nothing happen good translator picked it up again.

And here we are. It got a webtoon(use manga to find results) adaptation which i recommend only reading season 1 due to its unique artstyle plus ut swaps studio three times with.imo only first season being worth reading. <<less

Its a comedy, its not super serious. Since mc wants to just live in peace he tried to scheme and manipulate himself out of situations instead of mass mu*dering like your typical villain.
