goumen is masterpiece slice of life and coming of age story, it portrayed their love, youth, society , worries and how life's hardships moulded both mcs  character later on, but you'll still see the little details of their youth in them. it's a bittersweet journey but the ending satisfied me.

it should be mentioned that ML is suicidal. The ml's character is very well developed, while the mc's character is a little loose imo but that's what makes me like him ?? how the ml changed in the past 7 years and what caused him to become this way is well written, there really isn't much of a plot but a lot of flashbacks. the ml has been wronged, the mc has been wronged too, they heal each other.  <<less

First of all, this is predominantly a romance novel, and an icky-sticky, sickeningly sweet one, too. That is a Very Good Thing, in my opinion, because finding couples that actually communicate, have distinct personalities, are balanced in power, and don't have dogblood drama between them is horrifically rare. The plot isn't tacked onto the story, either; to say that the romance aspect overpowers the plot aspect would be a lie, as both are intertwined too heavily for one to happen without the other.

If I absolutely had to find a complaint, the side-characters weren't as developed as the main characters, though that's also why the novel is mercifully short as opposed to the 200+ chapters that a lot of other novels are, so... eh. It's fine, to me.

In terms of translating this, it was a slight pain in the butt, because the language is very complex. All the poem verses and complicated terms used were absolutely not exaggerated, trust me. And, now that I'm translating and reading things that are less complicated, it's really glaringly obvious how college-grad level this is in terms of writing. I chose a hell of a novel for an intermediate translator, hoo boy. That speaks volumes for how good of a prose writer CWBB is, at least. <<less

This is a captivating and rather poetic piece that details one young man's journey of love.

After a childhood injury, MC is left with a form of synesthesia, which allows him to perceive the emotions of people around him as colors and numbers. This leads him to have a pretty docile and placid personality. He is a great listener, but is reluctant to impart his thoughts and feelings upon others, for fear of seeing peoples' true thoughts. Additionally, he is still in the closet, but had been outed by his classmates in the past.He meets ML, who is a handsome single father and verifiably straight man. ML's tastes are completely contrary to MC: he likes older, taller, busty women with long hair. However, their interactions lead the two to become inexplicably attracted to each other. It isn't easy for them, though. ML rejects his feelings for MC because first, they have almost a ten year gap between them, second, because MC has yet to experience the world, and third, because his life experience has led him to no longer believe in love.  <<less
