When a futuristic scientist is transported into the body of a young man in a fantasy world, his curiosity and desire for power push him to pursue magic. In a world without mercy, Leylin has no qualms about doing anything if it means benefits. He is cold, ruthless and calculating, never forming attachments that could impede his ultimate goal…

Honor? Who needs that… Hmmm… that guy seems too powerful for me to take on now… I better keep a low profile for now.

You want me to help you? What do I get out of it? Nothing? Bye.

Hmm… that guy looks like he might cause me problems in the future. Better kill him before he becomes a problem…

Someone said that to rate a novel based on how many exclamation marks appear, is stew-pid. At first, I agree, then I try to read, and finally I understand that the problem in this novel is beyond the exclamation marks.

There are too many loopholes, a well-built character & a well-planned world (in short a well-executed story) is permitted to have a few loopholes, oh come on, even harry potter has lots of loopholes. But this novel does not seem to be well planned. Borrowing someone's review: it has a great... more>> premise, but awful execution.

The characters are good, but idk why, they bore me to death.

The story setting is promising, but doesn't make me hooked. I know I just read this to pass time, not because I want to dive deeper into this world.

I wish this story gets edited properly, I believe it has potential. I light candles for the editor though, it's quite a hard job. <<less

This is most definitely one of my favourite web novels I've read so far.

It is so funny to see all the negative reviews that boil down to two things: 1) the MC is not a "hero" type guy as he's so heartless/ruthless, 2) the AI chip cheat device being the "scientist" and not the MC.

The AI as a cheat device is annoying at the start, like every other cheat device/system in every other popular novel. That's a thing that's just always there. I certainly hope that some author writes a... more>> genuinely great fantasy web novel in this genre without such rediculous cheat devices/systems, but so far I haven't come across any. With that said, every bloody reincarnation/time-travel/cultivation/etc web novel has a cheat device. If you've actually rated any of those novels highly, you have NO right to complain here.

As for the character being heartless/ruthless, instead of a "hero"/ good guy MC, that's not even a legit complaint. Some of the best characters in any form of stories are actually bad guy types. So this complaint makes even less sense.

When you accept the cheat device (as you would with any web novel) and how the MC uses it to progress, the journey this story takes on is quite fun. The world building, the character (who is to true to himself throughout), and the overall plot are a lot lot of fun to read. The AI/Science is just a tool that helps the MC on his journey. <<less

I loved this novel. Pretty sure this was the fist 1000 chapter+ novel that I actually finished. The start and middle parts of this novel were absolutely amazing. I would say that there are a few arcs that I honestly couldn't stand reading cause it just felt so boring but overall still really good.

This novel will occasionally switch 'worlds' and basically have a mini restart with the powers and stuff. I think it happens like 3 times, been a while since I have read it. I enjoyed it when it... more>> did this the first few times since it stopped the world from getting too stale while still remaining the same universe, but it does get a bet tiring the final few times. Pretty sure my biggest gripe with this novel is that the ending sucks LOL. Overall good read though! <<less

Definitely worth the read but there are not any worth mentioning side characters because author will introduce many good characters but he will eventually drop them and continue the cycle and MC is bit too ruthless for me.

Very well written.

  • The protagonist is really cold and calculative
  • No power creeps. The power levels of the world don't change.

This novel is what other novels want to be.

This is a novel to savor carefully, a rare gem of breathtaking beauty. I've read this novel between half a dozen and a dozen times, reading each sentence multiple times, immersing myself fully and I've read it roughly, rereading the most important parts, at twenty, maybe even thirty times.

This is a rare well written chinese cultivation novel with an interesting power system.

... more>> However, it has it's cons:

The MC is emotionally cold, only thirsting for power, using any means to reach it. A soziopath.

Zero romance, which at least I hoped for.

Warning:

The beginning of this novel has been heavily "inspired" by another novel, part of the plot, power system, world setting and so on aren't the author's own idea. That other novel is based on a good idea, but it's crappy in execution, with a wishy washy power system, inconsistent and illogical plot etc. And is worth a 3/10.

However this novel is different. This novel's power system, plot progression, world building has been refined and numerous mistakes have been corrected and I would rate it 9/10, not 10/10 because of this MC is too emotionally cold. And those twisted hints at mother-son-inzest in that other novel have been removed, it was weird for his kinda adoptive mother to be pretty much what would be the heroine in a romance novel.

Later parts of this novel somewhat resemble D&D, but it was executed in a very interesting way. <<less

I would give it a 4- *, which is better than 3+ *.

The novel isn't very innovative. We have an MC who transmigrates with a cheat to a cultivation (it's magic but it's basically cultivation, alright?) world and has to start from zero to top.

The weird thing is how we have all these magi who have processing power of supercomputers, the scientific methods and thousands of years of history as well as resources so great Earth would be a garbage dump in their opinion behind their backs, but the technological... more>> advancements are shown still inferior to Earth's future China...

Other than that, its a very average novel of its genre, with MC who's openly (to the readers) is selfish and won't do s*upid things most protagonists would do. That's it.

Nothing stellar but not terrible. Can be an enjoyable read <<less

I prefer the novel called "The Magineer". MC is a scientist who accidentaly transported to the world with magic, MC also has ai chip but its implanted in his head and its only mc's assistant not like this novel I suppose, either way, the novel's more refined than this and the author's suposse to be real engineer (programmer I think) and also the real deal, not some small fry self-proclamation programmer.

Very interesting; for those who are put off by the "AI Chip", it's just another plot armor like any other weak-to-strong novel. There are a lot of intesting view points expressed on religion, faith etc. And the unending greed and hypocrisy of humans. Recommended.

Very good story. For me, the MC is a good bastard. After that, he's not a blood maniac, nor an angel. The MC acts just according to his convictions.
Warning!
This work plagiarizes The Wizard World (at the beginning) and Abyss Domination (at the end). (There may be more.)
For The Wizard World, it's a bit inconvenient depending on which one you decide to read first. But, Warlock of the Magus World is better overall.

very bad novel!
i tried to maintain to read but I dropped it in chapter 38.

  • The author tells that the main character is a scientist in his previous life. But throughout the story does not show that he is a scientist, it even looks like an idiot who always relies on his AiChip.
  • the storyline is boring and the writing is also poor with lots of repetition of words.
  • for newbie readers, this might be a great novel for them, and this is the reason it has received such good reviews.
  • as a whole the novel consists only of a writer's bullshit, emotionless, and boring.

i get it that he had to rely in his A.I power, it was good at the starting chapter however what I didnt like about the M.C and the story is it is somehow boring later on, he had this cheat and yet the progress are slow, there are times that he was able to save lots of people however he didnt because he was overprotective in his persona identity that might reveal. So kind of dropped it in chapter 100 above.

This novel is amazing in so many ways except the long arc where the focus essentially switches to different people as the MC just brews sinister plots. Really entertaining though.

A Chinese Isekai with the most ruthlessly, calculating MC I have seen so far. Now as the weak young noble lad Leylin, who takes it upon himself to follow a rather unorthodox path in cultivating the Dark Arts. Him being so incredibly cautious and paranoid ends up slowing down both story & character progress. At least it prevents him from making the usual facepalm-inducing mistakes (that and his OP A.I. Chip), leaving very little suspense in what could go wrong, since Leylin always has contingency plans.

Bit of a double-edged sword,... more>> but without it then I wouldn't have witnessed the creation of the incredibly insidious magical artifact, the "Coin of Destiny". Leyin's core drive is the everlasting cycle of the accumulation of wealth & power. Especially with how needlessly strict the power scaling is. <<less

I'd give this novel 3.5/5

Spoiler

Point deduction due to Deus Ex Machina A.I chip. Almost everything in the story is related to it, to the extent it might be the MC with memories the of its previous human host lol...

The MC is very well developed in the story though but ruthless beyond logic at times with fantastical plans all based on his A I chip!

I mean there's gotta be a limit right?. His A.I which somehow fused into his soul evolves every time time he powers up like some kind of pokemon.I mean its part of his soul.... whats to prevent it from going all SKYNET on him or something

Spoiler

There is a similar case in the novel lol

[collapse]

Besides all that I enjoyed reading it and I binged through the novel

Though the ending was kinda rushed and new characters popped like like npc spawns and then get destroyed immediately before we figure out whats going on, it's still a good read.

Main character transmigrates into the body of a said main character and benefits from having an AI chip embedded into his head before he died.

The pacing of the story and its extra details every now and then was allot to read and skip over as the author was cramming the worlds history and lore into the reader. I really liked the progression and the Lore the author was conveying and he had a lot of Lore and possible stories that could have continued but he ended them right away at... more>> the bud or even left them empty handed. This was one of the things that made me stop reading the novel.

I had really liked the side stories the author made and it is sad to let most of them go as you wonder what had happened to them. My question was "Why bring in a character when the main character's personality or growth doesnt even benefit from it?" As the author cut loose ends of other side plots. I felt the progression of the story going darker and the character's behavior not improving other than the author adding in allot of needless details and filler chapters that made me just stop.

As I caught up to the latest chapter at that time, I had envisioned a different main character from what I read all the way up to then. I went on Hiatus from this story and came back a month later to continue reading, I did not like the way the story was progressing as I had wrongfully envisioned a different kind of main character that the author was trying to make.

But this world's lore and history is one of the main attracting points of this novel. <<less

I would give this 4.5 if I could. Leylin has been my favorite MC for cultivation novels so far. The story is kind of slow paced and falls off about half way through, but it has a lot of moments that make reading the whole story worth it. The beginning is probably the worst part but it definitely picks up. I know that people have said the first half is just a copy of another book, but I still found this one to be fun and entertaining to read.

It was a good read. I recommend this if you like it after reading the first 15 chapters. If you start reading this for real then speed reading is an option when some chapters get boring. The parts where MC was in the academy where kinda boring.

I feel like the ending was kinda rushed but also I'm actually okay with it. I liked how it all played out in the end except some side characters where totally ignored in the end.

In the later parts of the story when chapters start... more>> going about other characters, that were less memorable than some who were ignored in the end, and their stories while MC sits back are bit too long and in the end unnecessary.

I know it was proper world building and such but in the end their role was to be forgotten so I pretty much speed read those sections. I'm also bitter that my fav sidecast was forgotten but I'll still give a fair 3.75 Stars <<less

Honestly isn't a bad reading, but I have some issue with MC. Simply put is a psicopath, pure evil, a villain. We are not talking about to be cold and pragmatic, MC doesn't kill only hindrance or enemy, but basically allies and a lot of people too for little gain.I can understand that in a medieval world human life doesn't matter, but well for me is a bit too much.
