Transmigrating into the Reborn Male Lead’s Ex-Boyfriend

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Song Xuanhe transmigrated into a book called “The President’s Seven Boyfriends”. He became the President’s cannon fodder ex-boyfriend, Song Xuanhe.

The Song Xuanhe in the book: 180 cm tall, so attractive he would trump over even the hottest celebrities, three generations of family in business–a very appropriate rich third generation.

It wasn’t a loss to transmigrate into this kind of person. It was just that this was a rebirth story.

The Song Xuanhe in the book abused the male lead 800 times and had even indirectly caused the male lead’s death. Faced with the reborn blackened male lead, his fate was obvious–not only did he reach rock bottom, he even died without an intact corpse.

Right now, he had become the cannon fodder ex-boyfriend that was foreordained to die without an intact corpse.

—–

System: Don’t you think that the male lead has been a bit strange recently? It’s like he’s plotting something in the dark.

Song Xuanhe: Plotting how to kill me?

System: No, plotting how to eat you.

—–

Song Xuanhe, who was lying on the bed with an aching waist, pained back and legs suffering from cramps, cursed the System 800 times–what happened to the male lead being a shou?!

Emphasis: Xiao Yuanmu is the gong! Xiao Yuanmu is the gong! Xiao Yuanmu is the gong! Moreover, the big shot has always been a gong! Spoilers only up to here!

I came in expecting a light read, but oh that was really... drama. Nevertheless it is a good read. I did have a few questions on the timeline on the first few chapters but was easily resolved with the tl's note.

I really right this was sweet, and it is but the romance doesn't come easy. The slow burn is slow burning. The first half is funny and cute but the second hand especially the latter end has a slightly heavy taste to it and the additional dealings with the take... more>> over of a big family, from the dialogue to the CP's thoughts. I admit that it made me lose a bit of interest in the latter end but it is a happy ending!

Do take note of the drama tag, not entirely a tragedy but a bit of a moody soap opera like drana at most <<less

A good read. The beginning is slow going since the setting is set up so that MC has to go through specific plot points, and some of the drama is kind of annoying like did we really need that much drama, but overall, it was a really good read. Just speed read or skim the parts that aren't as interesting and enjoy the growth of MC and ML's romance journey.

Extra 1 is where the tears flowed for me, although thankfully Extra 2 and 3 made it more HE than just... more>> the regular ending. =) <<less

I have a major soft spot for this novel, I've reread the first half at least 4 times while waiting for the remaining translations and I honestly, rarely reread novels. The novel is a bit different then what the description shows, I had originally thought this would be a comedic novel but there's a lot of serious overtones, especially in the second half. I debated between giving this novel a 3 vs 4 star rating, because while I love the characters and their interactions, the plot was a bit messy... more>> and a little incomprehensible to me. I ended up rating 4 stars because I really love the first half and like I said, I've reread it 4 times and that's something I usually never do.

First of all, the main characters and their interactions between each other are the best highlights in this novel. They just implicitly understand each other without too many words said and they deeply understand each other. They never really say "I love you" to each other and it's not even until the last 3/4 of the novel before they meet up again and even progress physically (and I'm just talking making out here), but they are aware of their feelings for each other and nothing can make them doubt each other. ML has several other "pursuers" but MC is nonplussed and confident in their relationship and I think there's something magical in that. I can't even properly describe it, but a lot of the writing in this novel is just about their inner thoughts and thoughts about each other. In terms of the relationship, the pacing and story is perfect.

It's the other parts of the plot that's messy. First of all, I don't understand the whole "successor" to the family concept, and that's one of the biggest non-romance related plot point to this novel. Like, If I was a multi-billionaire and I had two or more sons... I would just divide my assets evenly between the two of them in my will. Why would I have to determine which one inherits "the family"? And even more, why would my extended branch family members have any input on which of my own children I give my assets to? It kind of felt like the author was trying to write a Royal Imperial Family type situation where one son inherits the money and title and the other sons are cast away, but because it was set in a modern society, every time I read about these successor plotlines I just felt exasperated.

There were also a lot of plot holes that were never covered or elaborated on that I'm still wondering about having finished the novel:
Spoiler
  • Why did Song bigbro always take Jiabao's side since childhood? Especially that childhood incident.
  • Why would Xiao family emphasize non same s*x marriages due to having successor when it's the year 2066 and there's something like surrogacy? Especially since Song mama had suggested that earlier in the novel and MC's friend is also the sole heir and very gay. Like, there are so many male successors in this novel that are gay and their families aren't the least concerned about continuing the line?
    • And why was the Xiao family so focused on having a successor that they needed to grab a child from the branch family to raise temporarily? No, like seriously. If I was a multi-billionaire and couldn't have kids, I could still stipulate who the money goes to when I die whether it be to a person or to charity. My extended family members have no way to grab it. Like seriously.
    • And what exactly was Xiao papa suddenly ill with? According to ages, he couldn't have been more than in his 50s and he's living a luxury life with dedicated medical staff.
    • And I just loled so hard when their subordinate described Xiao Baicong as "the son of heaven" and describe a teenager being so amazing as a reason why another company should partner up with them. Like wtf? 🤣
  • What exactly are their companies that everyone seems to have? Besides RE being an energy source company, I still don't understand what industry every single rich family seems to work in and how their businesses can intersect like this.
  • How come Xiao Yuanmu got to rebirth twice?
  • The whole subordinate system. Louis is his business partner in energy resource, how come he's even their regarding secret family dynamics and just takes orders whether it be in business or in real life. I get respecting someone but who wants to work 24/7.
  • Whatever happened to Xue Mian? I was waiting for a face slap since he was delusional to think he was a love rival. And how did Xue Mian know Yuanmu when to F country for emergency medical treatment when it was supposed to be a mega secret?? Yuanmu also never explained what the heck Xue Mian was doing visiting his company so often while filming his movie.
  • And what was the deal with Bai Mo? How come he, as some restauranteur could visit McPhail's uber exclusive tea party? If it was so easy then what the heck was the whole plot with Jiang Deyi even for?
  • This point doesn't really have anything to do with the plot but I laughed when during the "fashion" discuss between Xuanhe and Feng Tong, that he complimented Xuanhe on how well he mixed his colors and that he had never seen that color before and could not figure out how he did it... like, did he create a brand new color? lol
  • Also, what is the point of the main system?
[collapse]

Still, the author is pretty good at writing. it's clear they don't really know much about business and probably nothing about fashion but they still managed to gloss over so many details without it detracting from the story. I dont think I'll reread this a 5th time, I still think the first half is amazing but the second half was a bit rushed. <<less

I cried over some chapters. It was sooooo good!!

The plot was intriguing and I couldn't stop myself from reading it.

I like how the author and translators present the story and its characters. I feel like I can understand how MC feels everytime I read his POV. And the system too! The best system ever!!

Recommended for reread, even if it's kind of slow burn romance!

In fact, I don't really like reading dogfood so much lolol

Some people may not like this novel because it’s a lot less of the initially passionate romances you might come across - but that’s exactly what it is, it’s a heartfelt mature romance. I think the premise of the story becomes a lot less prevalent in the story and what is left is the character development and slow, but natural progression of two guarded individuals. It evoked in me, a sort of bittersweet and longing feeling. The kind of feeling of an indistinct but profound love. It’s not all that... more>> comedic or exaggerated and explores family infighting (in a non-dogblood angst kind of way, although there are some unpleasant relationship dynamics amongst the relatives). In particular, the descriptions of family moved me to tears, I could feel the palpable depth of the regret and messy motivations of characters. If you dedicate the time to chip away at the 150 chapters, you definitely won’t regret it at all!!! My rating: 4.7 (objectively, but a few.x bonus points for sentimental value, so not rlly completely objective but I think it’s still fair enough) but in my heart, 5 stars <<less

The title perfectly summarized the novel. I loved this story. At first, it seems that the plot isn't special, but there are a few good plot twists. It is written very well and has unique parts, which make this novel stand out. The pace of storytelling is also good, and the characters are interesting.

I especially loved MC. I don't know how to describe him accurately; he is truly clever and knows what he should do. I wouldn't say that he is a good or perfect person, but he isn't hypocritical.... more>> MC has a peculiar character, it seems that he is rational and calm but sometimes gets emotional. At the end of the novel, it looks like his IQ dropped, but in reality, he's emotionally struggling. I think this is the part where we truly see his character and how vulnerable he is. The Decision he has to make isn't easy for him.
Spoiler

He still has some attachment left from his past life, but he has no one who would truly care for him, and what he has in this life couldn't be considered truly his since he replaced someone else

[collapse]
The author showed us MC's thinking process and his psychology. While reading, I felt like he was a real person, which is why I have a favorable opinion of the novel.

I liked ML too. At first, I thought that he would be more vicious, but actually, he was pretty cute. He seems cold and uncaring, yet in my opinion, he is sensitive and needs love. The environment in which he grew up and the people around him affected his character development; he needed to become cold in order to survive. The most interesting fact was
Spoiler

that he was reborn twice; he used all the information from the past lives, but I don't think that his personality changed much because of that.

[collapse]

The novel itself contains a lot of dog blood; I hate the ML family and the MC father. There were misunderstandings too, but not the kind that makes you want to throw the book far away and never read it again; those misunderstandings were harmless and helped MC and ML's relationship development. It also showed that after some time, they began to understand each other better.

All in all, it is pleasant reading. The author is talented, and the translation is really good. If you like stories about transmigrating, you will definitely like it. <<less

A good read with a slow romamce. I liked it so I gave a 5.

However it is funny, how some people giving it four stars because it is a slow burn while slow romance tag is right there for everyone to see. Also some people have given bad reviews even stating the reasons except those reasons are absolutely wrong. Maybe they misunderstood the novel or worse did not read it properly.

Maybe this novel was not the greatest novel out there but it certainly deserve more than 4 stars.

It’s an entertaining read, but there’s alot dramas and sometimes feel the romance is kinda slowburn. Lol. There’s alot of “ misunderstandings “ in a good way, and I love MC antics. For me some are a bit draggy but its show some complexity of MC character and his background, so I guess it’s ok. ML is sweet, there’s also some “misunderstanding “ regarding about him. Lol read the mysteries and how the story unfolds. Thank you

The only story I read with extras.

Usually, if I manage to read a story to its end, I skip the extras.

But this story was one of the rare ones that I even read the extras and wished it had not ended 😭

Loved it ❤️

Some heart wrenching moments & some fluffy bits. Generally enjoyed it as a whole.

My issue with this is that it’s written in a confusing (for me, at least) manner. A lot of times it is written as if we are supposed to know things but the things that we were supposed to know is only written/introduced after. Kept making me think I missed out something, but actually they just hadn’t explained yet.

The most frustrating time this happened was the ending where the system was implied to be the MC’s childhood cat. It was so confusing for me that this new character who has been barely mentioned/no build up is the character I’ve built some feelings for. Like it just didn’t fit well for me. Kind of wished the system were his past world’s BFF Zhou instead.

[collapse]

Also it made it seem like there was some unknown aspects of the MC that he was hiding from his previous world that I was hoping would be revealed and enrich the MC’s character once his missions were complete but not really.

Was kinda hoping for more misunderstandings/crematorium stuff with the story set up but didn’t really get enough satisfaction.

Overall, the fashion, business, and family politics power play aspects were described quite well, not in detail for some parts but enough to envision.

The fluff and tension was good between the two leads, especially in the first half of the novel. Side characters were a shade away from being fodder. Some development but not much. Didn’t feel much for them.

5/5 for first half, 3/5 for second half. Wish it had a different plot development in the latter half. <<less

I throughly enjoyed this one.

If you like a good relationship development, decent plot flow and enjoyable character set up, this is for you. The main plot is basically the relationship development and exploring the mystery behind the ML’s past life. Though there seem to be plot holes with unexplained details especially for the side characters where the author dropped tons of innuendos and random characters that pop out of nowhere making you think that you’ve accidentally missed a chapter only to have them introduced a little bit later, I still... more>> really enjoyed this one. The plot was interesting and engaging; the romance and interactions between the characters were pure gold; the character development was for some odd reason really good (for me) ; and the tiny sprinkle of angst at the back was just the cherry on top!

MC, Song Xuanhe, transmigrated into a novel. ML, Xiao Yuanmu, is the protagonist of the story.

- Original life: Original SX was scum. ML died in car accident

- 1st ML rebirth: Original SX died a bad death. ML concentrated on his career

- 2nd ML rebirth: MC transmigrated into original SX body... a short time before ML's rebirth.

The identity of the seven "boyfriends" are slowly revealed as the story progresses. They aren't really boyfriends but pursuers. Also most of them weren't doing so out of love for ML but for reasons such as benefits.

If the translator's notes are any indication, this is a good novel to read if you like to go "ahhhh my baby" at good-looking rich boys. However, it's extra hard for me to like characters when the narration tries to dress them up as cool and intelligent adults but in reality they are selfish, cruel, swollen-headed idiots. I've read webnovels where the translators write paragraphs screaming defensively for prospective readers to not expect logic or realism from the plot, and even those novels have more merit than this one.

I made... more>> it to Chapter 109 but dropped it out of weariness. After all, the reviews say that things get even more preposterous after that point. I only regret that I cared to search out the low-starred ones at this point, because the author wants to wring sugar out of content made from literal earwax. Eat that stuff if there is nothing else; I can afford better, I'm outta here.

I'm not yet finished, but I've really enjoyed the chapters I had read. The MC is not the kind of guy who takes things lying down, and so far he is likable. Just to note, this is a slow burn, and the pacing is very slow, but there are several interactions between ML and MC that are... interesting, lol. I'm writing this comment because I've seen some other comments about how MC is wishy-washy, and while I do agree, he has reasons of

being very conflicted over his morals and how he should interact with the ML. He has a system that requires him to follow this script where he harms and says mean stuff to the ML. If he doesn't, he has the chance of getting punished by getting sent back to his original body, which will die of caner in around half a year.

[collapse]

They also call the MC a callous and cruel person (I disagree so much, their explanation of the spoiler was so misleading), and cites a spoiler where
Spoiler

A girl who likes the MC is forced to take a highly addictive drug his enemy tried to give the MC. They also say the MC stares at the crying girl and cruelly and unnecessarily only reveals the drug was fake later on. I disagree. MC was not cruel at all during this. Earlier, MC gave her many chances to escape from the people who intended to drug him. He tried to find excuses to send her away and gave her many signals that were practically telling her to leave. She stubbornly insisted on staying. As the MC was fighting, she only intervened and made things more difficult for the MC. When MC's enemies directed their attention to her, MC deliberately drew aggro onto himself by trying to say she had no part in this and that they should attack him instead. MC tries to stop this, but she tells her "I'm fine". Even after she is drugged, MC asks her if she's okay. MC told her it was fake literally just a few minutes later.

The girl who took the drug for him also was not some kind of good, innocent person. She was asked to join in on the plot and only later on decided to help and shield MC, and she was also responsible for organizing people to push the ML (who couldn't swim) into a pool (where he was drowning until MC leapt in to save him) earlier on in the story. According to MC's knowledge of the book (which he was supposed to follow) the girl was also responsible the castrating the original owner of the body MC is in (the knowledge might have been incorrect, but this is only what the MC knows).

She has also been clinging onto the MC no matter how many times he tells her he does not and will never like her, and blames the ML for the fact that MC doesn't like her. Honestly, her stating that she didn't like the MC after that was justifiably a relief. MC has no good connection or relationship with her. He has no reason to be so concerned over her.

[collapse]

The ML is very stoic and cold, but he has reasons:
Spoiler

his childhood was pretty shitty, as he grew up in an orphanage and there are hints that he had to deal with a lot of bullying. There was also a kid in the orphanage who killed a dog the ML liked and then framed him for it, causing a lot of the other kids to hate him. It seems like he also has trauma of snakes because once he had a lot of them in his room, threatening to bite him/actually biting him, which I assume was also bc of bullying. There are also hints that the biological family (which was this rich powerful family he found and entered later on) was "like a war zone" and very ruthless. Essentially, his cold personality is a result of all his experiences

I'm actually a bit sad since I put off reading this because of the comments, but the book was a lot more fun to read than I expected. I will probably update this once I finish. <<less

Pros:

  • It’s so interesting to see how MC is forced to act by the system but because he really doesn’t want to be bad to ML, it shows. So ML misinterprets MC’s actions as him being spoiled, jealous etc.
  • They are so sweeeeeet, I love the tacit understanding that developed between them
Cons:

  • The story has good storytelling but towards the later part of the story, it felt like it was too long and I just skipped chapters just to see what’s going to happen
  • It’s really slowburn (which isn’t really bad cause it’s cute) but when
