The night he crossed over, he was told that his “wife” was having a baby.

Upon entering the delivery room, he discovered his “wife” is actually a man!!!

Was there anything more terrifying than this?!

Li Jin had just woken up when he saw a man run out from the room.

“Li Jin, your family’s husband is having difficulty giving birth. He can’t hold on anymore!”

In ancient times, dystocia was known as “one corpse, two lives”.

Without even thinking about it, Li Jin rushed into the delivery room. —He was an obstetrician.

After crossing over, Dr. Li, who was respected for his medical skills, became a “soft rice man” who relied on his “wife”.

I love it!! It's good, it scratches all my ancient transmigration novels that I especially like.

The only problem is that there are not enough translated chapter and the mtl-translated chapters take a while to get used to.

I love how rational the MC is. And also how he immediately doesn't fall in love with his "wife".

... more>> I always wondered why other transmigrated MC always fall in love with the partners of the original owner as if the MC owed it to them.

I also like the description of hardships the MC has to go through to make his life better. <<less

7.5/10. Gong MC x ShouML

Similar to The Only Favorite Ugly Husband. Except that the world building is way more elaborate, and much, much slower. Every detail possible seemed to have been expanded, from how to exam hall felt, to the examination questions. It ended up being a bit too lengthy for me, I had a hard time finishing the story.

Spoiler

The relationship between the MC and ML is very sweet, but the sweetness could not cover the overly lengthy details. Another thing to note, the MC was a very skilled doctor, but he became an engineer with a great passion for mathematics, which did not really make sense to me, but I am also clueless, as I don't know a single bit about medicine. Also, there isn't any 10 years later epilogue, or extra stories. The author wanted our last impression of our MC to be when he was young, so the story kind of stops abruptly as a result. It feels a little lacking to me, like there's still an untied knot.

[collapse]

Overall, it literally is a slice of life, leaning more to a journal recounting the actions of the MC, instead of a love novel. Not too bad, but not my favourite, will not re-read. ≪<less

In my opinion, if you are looking for nice slice of life, farming, raising bun, non-hectic twisted drama-filled transmigration story, your search has come to an end. This is it.

The story is very sweet with less to almost non existent of drama. Everyone pretty much friendly and nice.

No evil stepmother, very supportive relative, nice village people, everyone get along.

I honestly like his cousin (?) or uncle, Li Zhuzi, because he is very supportive and nice towards Li Jin. He was the one who did truly help him, from the beginning till the end. He was the one who worried about Li Jin from when Li Jin suddenly change (after his soul transmigrated to the future) until his soul come back to the ancient time and become the great Li Jin. Li Zhuzi is truly admirable.

fast forward until like centuries later. The legacy of Li Jin continue and the history later told by the decendant of Li Jin of how successful he is. How every record that Li Jin wrote about the imperial exam, the record of mathematic method (which was actually butchered from 'parallel world')

Maybe it was just telling the origin of how Li Jin's life before he became a mathematician. Well indeed the story is a bit like The Only Favourite Husband but it's far less OP and it's almost consider as realistic. <<less

I just finished the mtl-ed version a little while ago, and I must say, it's a pretty nice slice of life novel. It's not like the typical transmigrated OP character (in terms of physical power or the like), although he is a wee bit OP in the sense that he came from the modern era and has more knowledge compared to the time he transmigrated to. Also he was poor, and he had to work his way up to prove himself.

Anyway, the world he went to is more like a... more>> parallel universe compared to ours, since besides having men and women, there are "brothers", who look male but not as strong, but not as weak as females but can also bear children. One trait to separate them though is having a "cinnabar mole" in the face/head. Everything else, looks like what our ancient times might have been.

So what I liked about this novel are the characters and their developments. Li Jin started off in the wrong foot (the wrongest of foots, actually), being a wastrel in the village. When the transmigrated Li Jin took over the body, things started changing for the better (as it should since

). I also like how he pretty much doted on his husband that's a "brother", and that even though he's not the expressive type to say his love through words, he shows it all in his actions (like taking care of the little bun, or always being loving towards the husband, etc.), and he never took any concubine (s). It also didn't start with anything like love at first sight, their relationship progressed naturally as the story unfolded. Li Jin also didn't care for fame. Like, at all. He has all the right to brag, but he's very calm and dignified in everything he does (except when in front of his cubs, and his hubby, in which case he becomes a doting daddy and a very loving husband).

My gripe (s) though, is that the title is rather misleading. Instead of farming life, I think it would've been more appropriate with scholar life, since that's what happened. While he did do some farming, the story focused more on his way to becoming the no.1 scholar. Another gripe is that his medical profession is kinda brushed aside, granted, he did mention that the medicine he knows and practiced was more western (he was an obstetrician and also a good surgeon in his previous life). But that really didn't hinder him in properly treating ailments (heck, he can diagnose and give proper prescriptions too). Would've been interesting if he did practice his specialty in that field.

All in all, if you're wanting to read some fluffy and relaxing read about a nice and cute couple and their little buns, then this is for you. Don't expect any hardcore drama or angst here. <<less

I love this novel. I mtled it till the end and will read it again (I'm glad that it's getting translated into English). ❤️ I love how Li Jin cares for his husband and also work hard to support them. He accepted his new life and the husband and child of the original owner of the body.

Spoiler

I love how Li Jin cares for his husband and their child. Even though he went to the capital to take the imperial examination, he still took his husband and child with him.

The translation is good and the plot line is interesting. I like the MC's character settings so far. His internal dialogue is pretty funny but he is also pretty capable. The story is promising so far!

Pretty much easy to mtl but I kinda feel that it's lacking and yes, too much censorship I'm not satisfied at all. But it's quite a slice of life. It's just the romance doesn't fulfill me, I'll read this some other time.
