As a new anchor of StarTV, Yu Yan’s ruthless tr*sh-talk, natural rifle-shooting skills, and character of never searching houses earned him a big crowd of fans.

He felt like he was a good anchor who treated all fans of his stream equally—you can suck at the game, you can get knocked down, but if you want the gun in my hand, sorry, no way man.

Until he heard the voice of the streaming platform’s Big Boss.

Yu · ultimate voice-con · Yan: I’m not familiar with this game, swap my Kar98k for your Mini-14.

Yi · brand new noob · Chen: En.

Friend: Daddy, I want to snipe too!

Yu Yan: I think this frying pan suits you very well.

Not-a-very good gamer but dripping with money and looks Big Boss vs Cute, super good tr*sh-talking gunslinger voice-con Anchor.

Dug up this dusty account that I never used just for this book. Honestly no words are needed. Just sit back and wait to explode from a severe case of fluff overload and burst your lungs from laughing too hard. Enjoy the read, it's worth it.

Okay. This novel is just so so good that I can't express with 5 star rating. I would rather give it some 100-200 star rating. Well I liked it after all.

I liked how well written the novel is and the translation did it justice, well what to expect from Chrysanthemum garden.

Yi Chen is so similar to the ML of Assistant Architecture. Both of them are so understanding to their lovers. And then our cutie potato Yu Yan..... o (〃^▽^〃) o (≧∇≦) /...~ silent scream~

One of my favorite fall-back reads period

I put off writing an official review because one: I'm lazy, two: I'm lazy. But after reading this novel for a fourth time, I think I might spiritually combust if I don't type out some sort of appraisal. Simply put, it's a really good novel. If you enjoy fluff, minimal to zero angst, gaming-oriented plots, & are part of the cult that worships seggsy voices- WELCOME ABOARD!

Same author as Guide to Online Dating & I think I love this one just a teeny bit... more>> more & this is not because there's an age gap between the main CP. I truly think MC here is a total baby & deserves all my love & more. ML is your typical apathetic CEO who happens to crack a smile when around MC. Unhappy how they didn't go in depth with his personality, past, & family- it felt lightly brushed on but I'm not mad. As farfetched as their first meeting was (cuz come on what are the odds of a hot CEO clicking onto your stream), the romance was 10/10. Can you really dislike a CEO who puts time & effort to learning PUBG in order to play alongside his baobei? I may be reading thru a colored lens because the novel hits all of my favorite criteria BUT let the masses tell you the truth: IT'S GOOD & THEY ARE SUPER FLUFFY

p.s. I also enjoyed the side CP. I thought it was super fun & I kinda like the dynamic of a super beautiful gong & an athletic happy-go-lucky shou. They seem like a reversible couple but I love how it turned out regardless. I feel like I needed longer extras tho *cue endless crying* <<less

A quite light, cliche, and simple story. A cute story to pass your time.

If you like esports, this story explain the game thoroughly. If you don't like esports, you can skip the game part and you will still understand the story.

Definitely an awesome novel to read!

The MC is someone who has experienced the hardships of life and is not afraid to of public opinion.

ML is shamelessly devoted and I love it! He is the Boss who owns everything and he is unapologetic for being him.

It started as a lucky encounter and it blossomed to be a wonderful and loving relationship between the them. Both are very supporting of each other and great at their own fields.

Personally I like this one better than “Guide on” (same author with related series) because the IRL interactions and in-game interactions are very well balanced.

MC’s background makes me want to give him the biggest hug ever. I do not understand why some of the reviewers called him “dumb” because he has no education. He just tried his best to survive. He is innocent... I wish someone was there for him when he signed the contract with the old e-sport team. He is a good character which kinda fitting for the... more>> ML.

The ML on the other hand is caring for the MC. Like A LOT. Together, the CP both learn from each others more in the relationship.

There were a few misunderstanding but they weren’t too cliche or cringe to handle. The CP worked things out after trying to communicate with each others.

I gave this a 4/5 because there was something with the ending that was not satisfied me. But if you are finding a well balanced streamer x boss, e-sport type of novel that is soft and mild then this one is for you. <<less

The story is a typical CEO/ worker relationship. The CEO is cold blooded with little to no relationship with ANYONE (his parents and friends are so sweet to him btw) except the MC. The MC'S personality is also not memorable, but he's an okay dude.

Honestly, the few extras of the side couple was a lot more interesting than the main one. One is an idiot and flame-tongued, and the other one would lie their way through to get liked by the other. I'm not a fan of reading idol entertainment... more>> relationships, but this one was okay because the measures the idol took was logical.

And let's not talk the translations... 2.5 for me. <<less

I reread this after a few years and it is still as good as I remember.

A lot of fluff throughout the whole book. I got hooked pretty early on. I liked the pacing and the characters and the faceslapping.
One thing did annoy me a lot. I dont like the age gap but I just imagined yanyan to be a bit older to match the ml. The same with his young appearance.
The ML might be a bit too rigid but that amount is fine. I still got a lot of fluff and rlly enjoyed the whole novel.

The first time I’ve read this I seemed to have missed the extras. Tbh I kind of love the side couple more because of their dynamic. Kind of want more?

Spoiler

I loved the small rollercoaster of emotions. I rlly adore the way lr is treating zz. So cute fr.

I think I ve developed a love for a silly and charming MC and an obsessed strong and pretty ml. I kind of love a little toxic ml... and the way hes being described as is so my type.

A good read, but not that much. Reading this novel left me a bit unsatisfied, the facesalpping is not good (enough), and the closure is not satisfying enough. My impression after reading this is half-half. Good but not too good, bad but not too bad, can be considered boring.

There are other aspect that felt too bland, and I think if the author just write more, add more chapter to give depht to the character, story, or anything, the story will be good. But I like the game aspect, nothing too... more>> technical but engaging to read. <<less

My favorite part of this novel is the gameplay of the video game that the character plays and also the story development. Very entertaining--cool to see the journey of a streamer as he gains popularity.

The romance part was actually unexciting, especially after they meet more. It played too much with the rich businessman x innocent regular boy vibes than I personally prefer. But I'm glad that both of their lives are better thanks to one another at least. A surprising lesson about valuing friendships and family within this novel.

4.5/5.0

I read everything except the 12 extras about the catfish couple. I don't condone catfishing so no thanks. My judgment won't be influenced by that CP since I didn't read about them.

This is one of the few fluff-focused modern-day novels that I've enjoyed. Usually, they're either too slow-paced or too boring, but this novel had steady romantic development throughout to keep you entertained. The CP also dodged lengthy misunderstandings--after they began dating, they successfully avoided cliche fights through healthy communication. I really enjoyed seeing the dynamic between MC and ML... more>> as a couple since the way they spoke to one another was very realistic and mature.

Another thing that kept me hooked was that the development of their relationship wasn't too slow. They didn't start dating too late so as a reader you still got to read a lot of chapters portraying them as a couple.

The only things I didn't like were the following:

    • Apparently, MC's best friend gets together with a catfish which is ugh.
    • I consider there should have been more focus on showing ML repairing his relationships with his parents and his best friend. ML realized he had been too distant with those close to him, but the story didn't show the steps he'd take to prevent that in the future.

I tried to hard to enjoy this novel, but I just couldn't in the end. I know this is gonna sound super nit picky, but the smaller annoying details added up to the point that I started to become a bit irritated with the story so I decided to drop it for now.

Firstly, the story is extremely dragged out and the story could easily be finished within 50 chapters with the way it was written. It started out really well but around chapter 20, each chapter started to feel like... more>> I was reading the same thing over and over again, but increasingly more drawn out than the last.

And the ML is quite toxic and immature despite being a 30 year old man. At around chapter 60, it gets to the point where he decides to act cold and rude to the main character simply for hanging out with a female despite the ML knowing for sure that the MC was deeply in love with him. He basically throws a fit if the MC doesn't focus on him the entire time. Which is a slight exaggeration since those encounters only happen for a few paragraphs every ten chapters or so but it gets super annoying to see.

Also, the only conflict in the entire story is that they won't communicate their feelings with other properly. If they did then the story could go down by nearly 50 chapters.

But if you're not bothered by those smallish things then the story isn't awful and is quite funny at times. I might pick the story back up after a break but I'm done for now. This author is still amazing though, but I would recommend her other stories before I would recommend this one. <<less

Reviews and ratings set the bar too high for my expectations but honestly it was average. It’s just like any other, really. I read a lot of reviews that said the game element is better than other novels but in truth theres only little of it. It’s still more focused on romance and, overall just about the same as any average rating BLs out there. Nothing new about characters nor plot.

I'm not even into esports, and I thoroughly enjoyed this. The characters are all fleshed out and interesting, and each chapter had me either smiling or laughing. I recommend reading this as a palate cleanser after reading something dark and heavy. This story is all good vibes.

3.5 or 4 stars undecided. My second completed danmei, also by the same author. So I really enjoyed it, but thought the ending lagged a bit. Adorable and light. Only a few darker moments and really thought some of their past could have been fleshed out more.
I'm not sure if I would have liked this more if I hadn't read I Can Do It first, which is why I think it might deserve a 4 star rating.

I read this one after "Guide on How to Fail at Online Dating" so I had high expectations, but this one was just average comparatively. Again probably more like 3.5 but the authors disdain for female gamers makes me angry 🤣

The power dynamic between the MC and ML was very unbalanced as well which I really didn't like ... more>>
Spoiler

the chapter where he wants to go back to school seemed out of place, if he wanted to go back because it was something he always regretted, then sure, but it was only so he could talk to the ML.

[collapse]

The ML was kind of bland and though I love gaming/FPS, I wasn't that into the PUBG elements. I liked Guide because it was just like a generic MMORPG that could be found anywhere. The translators did give enough info to follow along, even if you've never played PUBG though. Not mad I read this one but probably wont be re-reading it any time soon.
Spoiler

Also take any of my reviews with a grain of salt, I leave them mostly for me so when I come across the novel in the future I know why I loved/hated/meh it.

[collapse]

The side story of the friend.... that one I still not sure how I feel about.
Spoiler

on the one hand it was kind of cute but on the other the idol guy was really possessive/angry for no reason, like dude you were the one that catfished him, give him some time. I was waiting for it to be a misunderstanding or something, like the idol had told him he was a guy but the friend didn't pay attention or something. Also the idols reason for falling so deeply about him was kind of random. Lastly the time lines with the main story didn't really add up? The part where they play PUBG and the idol invites himself along didn't really fit anywhere and there was another instance but I forgot now

I really enjoyed this! I hate esports and shooters and multi-player games, so I was not excited about a PUBG novel.

But, the character development, and fantastic work by the translation team, made it a thoroughly enjoyable read!

I didn't find Yanyan or Boss Yi to be dull. Perhaps this isn't the right genre for someone expecting more action or passion? Though it was definitely passionate, after considering that it was a sweet and fluffy slow burn between two people navigating their own goals and wants in the face of obvious work... more>> addiction. Yi Chen wasn't a dominating president either- he didn't always know what to do, but did his best. I think he probably was, like many facial paralysis gongs, coded as autistic. That, combined with the pressure from his grandfather growing up and stunted inner child, made it a lovely experience to watch him learn to treat his friends and family and even himself better after confirming how much he wants to love Yanyan. Both of them grew up too fast as teenagers, and are discovering their emotional stability as young adults, both have their own lives and friendships and families, nobody has to lose his identity to enter the relationship. It was very wholesome and satisfying, a well rounded and relaxing danmei. Editor juu also wrote some sexy fanfiction!

Glad I gave this novel a chance even after reading the reviews. Something lovingly written will always show advantageously. <<less
