Ahn Seung-hyun, a college student who lived hiding his identity as a gay man. While on his way to meet an acquaintance he met through a gay dating app, he discovers that the acquaintance is a college classmate trying to out him.

He tries to run away but gets into a traffic accident. Just when he thought he had died, he finds himself possessing ‘Han Seung-hyun’, the villainous character from the novel he was reading, and continues living that life.

However, there’s a problem: ‘Han Seung-hyun’ is someone who has been given a life sentence with a time limit.

Feeling wronged for a moment, Seung-hyun thinks, ‘Since I’m dead anyway, can’t I fulfill my dream of being a rich unemployed person for a little while?’ and resolves to do everything he wanted to do with his remaining life.

Can’t he have s*x at least once before he dies? With that thought, Seung-hyun boldly goes to a gay bar to find a one-night stand partner, but ends up getting involved with the one person he absolutely shouldn’t have.

“Ju-, Ju-, Ju Jae-young-ssi.”

“Yes. I am Ju Jae-young.”

What will happen to Seung-hyun’s terminal life after spending a night with Ju Jae-young, the sub-male lead in the novel who dislikes Seung-hyun?

The novel looks promising. I only stopped reading because I cannot find the raw link of this novel. I feel like crying 'cause I cannot continue reading it. I have been reading it using MTL. I found some spanish translation of this novel and translated it into English but that Spanish translation was only up to 75 chapters.

If you know the raw link of this novel please let me know. This is why I can't read on going Korean bl novel because I want to finish reading the novel once... more>> I start reading it.

Anyway, this is a good story. Looks promising. I will be editing the rating once I finish reading all the completed chapters. It's unfair to rate stars if I haven't finish reading it all yet. <<less

First of all, < (ಥ ﹏ ಥ) > what a cry fest.

Second of all, I haven't marked my status as completed because I still really need to read the side stories that I can't get my hands on the raws of criiii QwQ. I saw on ridi that its marked as having 159 chapters so there must be side stories!!! The most crucial part of the damn story! Gaaaah.

Hem hem anyway I think it was a great read. There were some baffling parts in there but on account that... more>> I cried rivers over the angst I'd still give it 5 stars. This story really had all the elements that makes it a classic k drama. Just the right plots, tropes, and heartbreak for this kind of genre. And since I said it's a classic k drama can't forget about the frustrating misunderstandings and running away from each other tsk. But what is a story without ups and downs, this was a rollercoaster that managed to fish out my entire emotional spectrum. Let me lay out my favorite kinks that were present in this story; Sickly terminally ill MC. Collapsing/painful seizures ✓. Needs painkillers ✓. Ahnn yesss a gorgeous line up for some delicious S4Es. Moving on, this is finally a story with a 'transmigrated into a villain' MC that's like f the plot I'm dying I'm rich I'm just gonna have fun for the rest of my limited life... but then he starts catching feelings. The drama the angst my tears wuwuwuwu < (╥ ﹏ ╥) > it really left me feeling like a fruit roll up, sticky and super dehydrated from all the crying.

Another aspect that I like is the ML. Oh lawrd give me such a man too, like sure he's rich and handsome, plus a good size coughcough, but hot damn his personality! Sure it started as curiosity, don't it all, but as he fell for MC woooh this man, unlike those frustrating dramas, this man good lawrd has actual eyes. I just find it so nice after reading so many blind mfs so the bar might be low. Anyway that level of thoughtfulness, the pure love and compassion he showed ack just burry me already I can't handle how it poured oil into my hopeful delusions in an ideal partner. Here's some moments of the two that really made me squirm
Spoiler

-The two were ultimately the same, unable to properly express their anxiety or push each other away. Even after Seunghyeon's tremors subsided, Jaeyoung held him in his arms and comforted him. The evening was flowing like that for two people who had the same mind and the same anxiety, but who ultimately could not fully understand each other. -

and another one! -He knew that Seunghyun wanted to push him away, but he noticed his shaking gaze more than his pushing hand.- aaaaaaaa chain him down! Chain him down he's a keeper!!

[collapse]

Now to the somewhat negative aspect, at least for me, actually I'm not sure but eh it annoyed me. The plot progression as it ends. Hmn I can't really speak of this without it being a spoiler on what kind of ending it will be, and in my suggestion it's best to read without really knowing that clearly for a full unfiltered experience but if you must know

Spoiler

I'm giving you another chance by giving it away vaguely here but just take a look at the tags that are there and not there.

This next bit will be some actual major spoilers the part that irked me most;

Spoiler

As it ends MC's cancer just disappears. No mention of it, or maybe there was but idk MTL man it's hard to tell but surely a body w metastasized cancer plus the burden of bearing a child and having eaten a lot of non general hard acting drugs geez it bothers me how all that was suddenly solved idk by a pheromone change like I understand ABO world doesn't make sense in the first place but eh. I really don't mind him actually dying and it becoming a BE honestly but eh..... why am I complaining so much when I was also happy at the fact that this lovely couple can continue to be together and have a happy lil family together. It's just.. it doesn't make sense. He shouldn't have been able to survive all that. Where's the consequence of eating all of those drugs for instance? And how did it not affect the baby?? So many unanswered questions haah.

For the final cherry on top, it has some pretty good smut < (¬ ‿ ¬) > it's nothing too detailed or wild like some of those hardcore smut novels but well it was exciting ehehe was quite the natural progression too. Let's not forget that its consensual too < (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) > just look at these two clumsy first time lovers ugh so cute~ <<less

I need to edit my review.

I keep rooting for MCs in KRBL to let go of everything and live a secluded life. KRBL almost always has those hints of problematic relationship, some toxicity, that may not be too different from CNBL, but less redeemable and more unlikable. The ML (s) and MC are flawed in a forced way that's only important for the plot and less as real characteristics. Idk why but I have more patience with flawed ML in CNBL than in KRBL, might've something to do with authors'... more>> description and narration. I read spoilers and can't say I'm surprised much, also that the progression is very KRBL.

Too tired to say much, but this story gets too long-winded and convoluted in a typical way that is often seen in KRBL. Characters are easily swept past by the plot (sometimes stuck on an unnecessarily long plot point) overall just tiring and disappointing. : (

Old Review (I feel sad for my excited past-self...) :

Spoiler

I give up mtl because my brain isn't braining, but so far of what I've read, I'm liking the progression and the characters. ABO settings isn't yet important to the story except to showcase that male-male relationship is okay and the existing class discrimination based on dominant or recessive gender.

dunno if it matters, but their gender are MC is recessive alpha, ML is dominant alpha. They are basically a gay alpha-alpha couple.

MC's character is fresh, he has one goal, to live freely without restraints, and he ditched everything and everyone that bothers him. He tried hard to focus on himself and the character is pretty consistent. I also like ML, and some might say he fell in love quickly, but I think his characterization rationalized that, just saying that ML didn't feel out of place or pushy.

Plot wise, it's still in the 'calm before storm' phase. ML starts to notice that he might be liking MC, and MC has felt pain from his disease but wasn't too bothered with it. No one else knew (except the assistant) and no sickness-reveal yet. I'm waiting for the reveal and angst but the mtl got weirder and I got tired.

Give it a try, I don't know why the rating is so low and while some of it rang true for the novels, I haven't seen anything problematic to correspond the 1-stars. Can't wait for the translation!

I can't read this anymore. It's annoying to have a MC with no character development at all but this MC goes on ranting about how unlikable the original owner is, I was disgusted just by reading it. It feels like this author created a MC with 2 brain cells. The most beautiful character that I felt was the original villain despite discrimination he worked so hard to be in a position he wanted. This story would be far better if it would have been a regression based story or may... more>> be a story where the original owner realised that he is a villain in a story. After realising he just to do what his heart truly desired because he deserves that chance. <<less

An inoffensive but ultimately unrewarding read. While the writing isn't bad, none of the elements of the story develop in ways that are satisfying. Both of the main characters are from chaebol families, but neither of the characters are involved in their family's businesses, so there's no corporate drama and the MC exits the succession struggle in his family very early. Except as an excuse to have corny makjang family dinner scenes and give the MC unlimited money, there's no reason for chaebol's to be involved. The obsession with recessives... more>> and dominants is also never thoroughly explained. If it's just that it's difficult for recessives to conceive, the discrimination against recessives seems ridiculous. This kind of logic would feel more reasonable in an ancient dynasty setting rather than a modern chaebol setting. The transmigration plot line is also pointless. In the end it only really affects one side character (the original body's secretary) and the end of his story, much like the whole novel, is sudden and dissatisfying. If you like clumsily written ABO plots, two dimensional characters, and pointless emotional suffering caused by characters being unable to change their mindsets or adjust to their circumstances, this novel is for you.

Spoiler

Also, I've already said that the focus on recessive/dominant types contributes nothing to the story, but I have to add that I think the author just doesn't understand how to use the ABO setting very well. Having rare disorders or special medical conditions is understandable, but making reproduction between alphas possible undermines the whole setting. It also seems like a dumb thing to introduce because the author turns the MC into an omega later anyway - so why bother creating a setting where conception in an AA pairing is possible? Also having an AA pairing turn into an AO pairing feels like reading a BL novel only for the author to tell you at the end that one of the 'men' is actually a 'woman' and you've been reading BG all along.

Yeah.. Sure.. I don't get the hype about this. ML seems annoying, I wished for more depth and got none. Maybe I'll pick this up again someday but not now, there are other more interesting novels other than this.

MC spends money coz he's dying which—I agree is a dream come true on a dark side but meh. It lacks something and chapter scenes are repetitive tbh.

I really like this story so far.

The ML has already taken interest in the MC and bothers him quite a bit, though in a cute way.

Seung-hyun, the MC stops paying attention to any kind of prejudice he might receive from other people and litteraly does what he wants and says what comes to his mind.

I look foreward to the future story developement and especially how the people around the main character will react once they find out that he's terminally ill.

Thanks for translating!

[collapse]

The romance between MC and ML is pretty straightforward. MCs sickness plays a big role in the story, and despite being a bit cliche, I think the way the plot unfolded was done well enough that I was motivated to read it until the end. While some may not agree w MCs decisions throughout the story, I think they all made sense. He's not overly naive nor foolish, and he contemplates those decisions himself at several points in the story. The ML is very refreshing for me--not a domineeting CEO, but rather a sincere lover. I did not, at any point, feel like the MC and ML were being foolish. And even though the story is set with the chaebol/business background, it never becomes the main stage. The few significant side characters do not feel fully fleshed out, but no one can say they were boring at least.

overall a 5-star read, , , because I cried, but also felt immense relief and joy at having picked up this novel. <<less

Really enjoying this story so far. I want to say my opinions but I don't want to give any of the plot away. I'll do my best to avoid spoiling.

It's cute. It has hit the feels a bit. And the MC isn't a weak pitiful woe is me even with their limited life span. I like it.

I’ll try to refrain from spoiling too much I rated this novel low because of my own views but I still think it’s worth a read.

Starting off the translation is amazing and I’ll definitely check out more books on galaxy translations.

This book lacks depth from plot to character development.

... more>> I don’t find myself nearly invested in trying to understand the characters or story because of the lack of substance.

I don’t feel attached to the MC despite the less than stellar circumstances he ended up in, I am majorly disappointed with the authors lack of finesse to get the main theme of their novel across.

”To have lived is to be loved”

The mc’s personality is too fickle/annoying for my taste but I understand his thoughts and actions however I can’t accept it. Constantly pushing the ML away because his own insecurities cloud his judgement would be comical if it added anything to the plot but it doesn’t.

The author uses the mc’s self sabotage to develop the story without actually developing the character—it’s a bit mad. Were told time and time again that the MC is living selfishly but I really don’t see it that way he behaves more like a coward to be honest.

He realizes that he’s going to die within a year but falters with the one meaningful relationship he’s created for what?

Because he doesn’t think he deserves it. From the small footnotes we get of his previous life his family didn’t care about him and his first attempt at making a friend that understood his sexuality ended with him being killed.

The MC craves human affection and intimacy which is why he tried and still tries to create new relationships* but when it comes to the ML it always sours when he’s on the receiving end because he can’t understand it, he may have come to terms with his death but he still doesn’t understand that there’s real people in front of him instead of words on a page.

*
Spoiler

I can’t tell if the author did this on purpose or not but why did they make the ML his only safe space? It seems like they’re telling us every new person the MC meets will be terrible and take advantage of him so he should stick with the ML that’s honest and it’s a bit??? It feels very lazy and limits the world building and plot IMO.

[collapse]

He doesn’t see the ML as a real person when it comes to his depth of affection yet he knows when he’s hurting him and continues to do so, the MC hurts himself and others because that’s the only thing he can control and knows best but he’s not living selflessly he’s living like a dead man.

The scariest thing before death is change because you’re still alive when it happens.

The MC has created a false sense of security by falling into repetition, if he were truly selfless he wouldn’t be afraid of experiencing the ups and downs of life because that’s what living is.

Spoiler

I know the MC doesn’t die at the end for whatever reason the author pulled at their ass

[collapse]
but this is ridiculous the story could’ve been over at chapter 80 but the author drags stuff out that it becomes a blur. The pacing is alright but everything feels lackluster. <<less

In my opinion the characters aren't inconsistent, they just don't act rationally OR have a reasonable EQ.

Honestly, I think it's only the MC that has issues, and only when it relates to his relationship with the ML.

The ML is actually pretty smart, knows what he wants, and tries to press forward to get it.

Our MC however....

Spoiler

Knowing he's going to die he decides to continue the relationship with the ML, despite also knowing that the ML is in love with him. He does this when he knows he's falling in love with the ML as well. However he sometimes acts like an @assh*le to try to push the ML away because he's scared of hurting him. So he hurts him as much as possible with lies instead of telling the truth... which is just... This goes back and forth a lot and it's the heart of the angst in the story. All of this could be resolved easily if the MC just confessed that he was dying. At any point in the relationship with the ML he could have taken the steps to say "I'm dying and there's no cure" and it would have been one hundred times easier on both of them. This is what makes up the majority of the "plot" of this story. Miscommunication, assumptions, and the poor EQ of our MC.

[collapse]

What is an excellent concept and had a lot of potential for drama and emotion ended up just being a totally emotionally inept MC treating everyone around them selfishly.

I highly recommend that people avoid this, but that's just my opinion on it. <<less

The dynamics between MC & the original body family is more interesting than MC & ML interactions for me.

MC & ML went back too much on their words I felt like their interactions were too erratic & inconsistent.

ML was too clingy for my taste and MC suddenly become a bumbling idiot in front of ML.
Spoiler

MC literally gonna die in a year and think that having an exclusive s*x partner that clearly in love with him and he was interested too was a good idea? That's selfish and literally just a self sabotage.

[collapse]

The plot outside the romance was much more enjoyable! MC dynamics with the novel protagonists, how MC handled the original body family, and MC interactions with the original body secretary provide much more weight than MC dynamics with ML.

So if you don't like inconsistent characters, you could just skip any interactions of ML & MC and just read for the other plot.

I got frustrated enough when I read this novel. The author make the MC s*upid enough. Like moving to same area with the main character? The author really like a jokes or they don't wanna think so hard and just make a do story? Nah.

Not recommended if you hate that kind idiot MC and unbearable story but recommended if you just wasting away and didn't have any book to read :)

The pace really bored me sometimes, the reputation etc, but I do agree the ANGST really hit me.

His style to give up and spend money like there is no tomorrow, more like the author dream 😁 (don't judge me, maybe I'll do the same if I had unlimited money 🤣)

The ML totally a pushover, like a puppy trying so hard to keep the MC besides him.

So far it's a good read, since I want to cry so hard, even I need to wait like more than 90 chapter until... more>> the angst really hit me. In the beginning I keep tr*shing the MC family, like... Total tr*sh without even any possibility to be recycled.

This story was a good read. I really enjoyed the angst part. Weeping continuously push and pull, rejections and all.

About Ending I am not sure, I felt like it was a bit anticlimactic and abrupt. It could have a better closure. A lot of things were left unsaid and hanging. Especially mc's complex family relationships. They could be explored more and it a better way. What was ML family reaction and all that.

Since I haven't read side stories I don't know but it was definitely better than a BE.

Proclaimer: You'll probably cry for the characters, if you read this piece.

... or most likely

So, this is kind of a hidden game, at least for me. Mainly because I thought I'd stop reading after around xh 40, but in the end I'm still searching for ways to find the side stories somewhere...

... more>> Anyways

The characters are really well-built ones, and you could see troughout the novel that the author how deeply understands what they created.

... the complexity..

And also, they make the reader completely understand the MC, and so make him realistic to the reader.

There's that little something in the writing stile, that makes everything kinda interesting

And besides that.

ML's personality is just *out of this world*

Or maybe just cause when a character is playful, serious, reliable and still childish and stubbornly staying by their side, then I guess you just can't not love them.

The whole conflict of their relationship is also external, so you can see just how comfy and wholesome relationship they have daily, and it's just *w*

So, you'll probably cry due to the s illness or the OG character.s.. but otherwise this should defenetly end up on your reading list <<less

2.5 to 3 star

There were times that the MC made me frustrated. He verbally hurt the ML twice because he was thought it was better for him to leave than to be separated. I literally needed him to cut the BS and tell him. I understand he thought he'd stay out of pity which he didn't want, but ML needed to know and make his own decisions.

ML clearly knows he's hiding something and pushing him away but never knows why until he hears rumors later. Imo he's also dumb in... more>> a way for not piecing things together when all the hints are there! He just had to connect them, but he was too busy living in happy lala land or agonizing over the wrong thing. I thought he would finally get it when he decided to snoop for the medicine because he had a bad feeling about what MC was hiding.

One will literally die with a secret and doesn't want ML to worry about him (hah, too late). He thinks ML will be better off forgetting him, but with the intentional verbal jabs to push him away you have literally done the opposite. ML is literally too soft to get answers from him. The 2nd time I understand because his family was telling him MC approached him for benefits. Then he's also hit with the I regret meeting you by MC because he didn't want to feel this miserable by thinking about leaving him.

Secretary pissed me off. Literally won't let him be because he has been serving as OGMC's tool for so long that he literally freaked out that MC looked at him as a human. Secretary forcibly takes care of him because he knows even the person he cared for is gone, he still feels duty bound to watch over him even though MC doesn't want him too. Secretary even tries to get ML to hate MC by telling him that the scheme that he did was what Directed Han would want. (Which is what lead to MC trying to push ML away for the 2nd time even though ML was fully prepared to hear his side and believe him). He conceals MC's location from ML who has been desperately searching for him. He comes to the realization that he loved OGMC and that he is gone from this world and leaves MC. He tells ML where he is and is gone from the story.

Side Story Rant:

Spoiler

Oh my goodness! I'm so confused about the first 4 chapters of side stories. 😲 It was such a slap to the face and confusing. I am thinking it was a what if tearjerker.

It's a freaking funeral which ML gets kicked out of by MC's Dad, and ML tells his mom why he's so upset MC died (it makes his whole family seem to lack sympathy) until he says he was pregnant (Which I remember him telling her before. Perhaps the story was revised because sometimes small details were mixed up).

His mom is shocked and instantly understands (but didn't understand when he said they liked each other?) Maybe it was because ML kept sadly saying they aren't partners/together since MC didn't want to put a name on it since he was dying.

ML is told by his parents to let go literally right after MC was buried. Give him like a week holed up in his room to push him again to let go. Understandably he has a hard time and keeps remembering MC, but he travels around thinking about him and visiting places he wanted to go with MC or had gone before he heals enough to not hurt from the death of his love and baby.

Then suddenly, we go back to MC getting a check up for the baby. They go home and see that ML's family broke in to talk to him because he blocked them (after the mom had kicked him out saying don't come back thinking he'd come crawling back later for help). They have a talk and tell ML not to run from things anymore. ML's whole family also wants to be formally introduced because all they know about OGMC is from occasional greetings and rumors. They end up liking MC very much and are excited for the baby. Fast forward a bit, baby is safely born and is able to be discharged first (Our Raon is very small). MC has to stay at least two more weeks to recover. ML takes the baby home. They decided that they don't want a nanny because they're afraid that they'll rely on the convenience of having someone else care for her. Understable.. Also a bit unwise I think because ML only knows practical knowledge and will be by himself. Which he breaks after 3 days. He finally calls his family for hello because he's sleep deprived and filthy. They send a Nanny and he gets to clean up and rest. He learns from the Nanny how to do things and what to pay attention to.

MC has video calls with ML, but refuses to let ML come see him (his excuse is he'll want to see their baby too). Later when he is released, he is told he'll likely have one to two heat cycles before he turns into a beta. They cannot be suppressed with medicine for his health, but he does take the birth control pill. MC has thin skin and doesn't want to mention or thing about the heat cycle because he begged ML not to leave the room for water etc during it. The story ends with them picking up their daughter from their family.

[collapse]

I feel like the first part of the side stories could have been replaced and shown OGMC.
Spoiler

He literally made a wish to be poor and to go somewhere that doesn't have traits. The author touches on it once then never again. I really feel like they swapped spots instead of him disappearing suddenly.

[collapse]
Maybe Secretary could even cross over too and they could be together but nope. Nothing.

I feel like the times they weren't indecisive and hesitating were the best parts. Both MC and ML did A LOT of double guessing. In my head I rationalized it a bit due to their lack of relationship experience, but they were both in their 30's (MC 29->30) with all this going on, but it felt like a 18-21 story. (MC was 25 in his world. Only know because he almost messed up saying his age to ML). It was kind of enjoyable but the leads were a hot mess. Yes, the MC didn't do anything. He didn't try clearing the Director's name because that's literally something he would have done. He tries to clear his own name in a very bad way to ML (he says secretary acted according to Director Han's (OGMC) wishes in an attempt to separate himself from Director Han's. I'm like you know ML is already shaken emotionally by others telling him stuff about what the owner of the body is like, and you try to hint things as if he can pick up on anything other than you lying to intentionally push him away. <<less
