[Take heat suppressants] Are my eyes wrong?

“Ah, Noona. Turn off the alarm… It’s loud.”

When I opened my eyes, I suddenly became the Recessive Omega, Seong Chan-young, the villain in the BL novel that my sister was reading.

The role of Seong Chanyoung is… He was a villain who burned inferiority in the main player Seo Eun-soo and ended up with a miserable end to the Gongs.

At this rate, I am destined to be swept away by Gongs that love Seo Eun-soo.

I can’t die like this!’

“……I’m sorry. Seo Eun-soo, I would like to sincerely apologize for bothering you.”

“What?”

First, go to the main Shou and apologize to him.

“I’m breaking up with you today.”

“All of a sudden?”

“I don’t like you anymore. Let’s break up the marriage. You didn’t like me either.”

He also broke up with Seong Chan-young’s fiance.

Seong Chan-young blocked all other Gongs’ contact information and erased them before escaping.

To where? To a quiet, watery countryside.

What do you mean by “Villain Revenge”? I decided to live by farming as much as I wanted to.

I was so happy planting lettuce, buying strawberry seedlings, and raising a Shigorzav dog but…

***시고르자브종 (Literal Meaning: Country Hybrid Dog) is a plausible term for a little bit of play with linguistic purification. It’s literally a dog that does not fall within a particular breed of dog, and has at least two kinds of pedigree.

“Did you disappear to live here like this? For real?”

The Gongs came after me.

But you punks. Are you looking down on farming?

Hello, translator for the novel here!

I've picked it up due to the novel being super easy to read and engaged. If you like Farming/Slice of life with comedic undertone, this is for you. Although the tags do say Omegaverse, there hasn't been a huge emphasis on the smut or anything s*xual yet (I'll update the reveiew here if there is in the future), so I believe even people who avoid Omegaverse can enjoy this.

Hope you enjoy this novel! I would like to read your thoughts and feedbacks on it,... more>> thank you!

Edit (2/2024) :

As many people have mentioned, it is indeed true that the story is really heavy on the drama aspect. I still find it chill and easy to follow but everyone has different tastes so I totally understand if this is not your cup of tea <<less

Up until now, the story seems very interesting. Is a pretty chill read, and gives you more than one POV.

HOWEVER

If there is one thing I have complaints about is the way it is written. I don't know if it's the way the author writes or the translator's, but this story needs some serious editing. There are moments when one of the characters is talking or thinking, and it changes POVs from "I" to "he" or "character thinking's name", so there is some serious inconsistency there.

Aspiring translators, writers and editors, if... more>> there's an advice that you need to take into consideration is that, PLEASE review your own work: read it as a reader would, check the spelling, consistency and grammar, because believe it or not, these things could make the difference between a successful novel and something that could have potential, but is an incomprehensible mess.

Aside from this, this novel has been good for now, and is definitely in my priority list of things to read. I hope to see more of it, and if you're looking for a relaxing read with some interesting characters, then give this novel a chance. <<less

Reading the translators review and the tags, even though there is a small drama genre. I thought this story was going to be all fluff and cuteness with comedy. The comedic aspect wasn't really doing much for me or I didn't really notice it much besides the misunderstandings being a microscopic amount of funny, but the drama was really present.

Reading the summary you really wouldn't expect much depth from the story, so imagine my suprise when there actually is some plot. Trying to keep this spoiler free XD.

You get to... more>> see the MCs struggle to get along with his grandpa and his struggles trusting others. His identity crisis. He is not a perfect MC.

The MTL is readible for anyone that can't wait for the translations.

I don't recommend reading it all in one sitting like I did, somewhere in the middle you'll feel tired of the story before it picks back up <<less

I personally have a bone to pick with the MC, a few translation issues aside (as pointed out by other reviewers).

The MC in his way with dealing with the og novel’s alphas and the protagonist rub me off the wrong way so badly that I just want to smack his head and shout at him to grow bigger balls in the omega he’s possessing the body of! (Which by the way I think I probably like more than the MC!)

Spoiler

I just can’t stomach mc’s way of handling the alphas and the protagonist omega, like really? Grovelling like a loser and constantly making yourself look like a joke? Really? In a chaebol’s body? Like okay you don’t have to like the og body but that’s straight up disrespecting him and HIS body, the fact the author mentioned a dead c*ckroach and touching his head on the floor pissed me off badly.

In the MC’s position, ofc anyone would be pissed to have to clean up after a shitty person’s mess but the whole memorandum sh*t bugs me so badly, like why do you have to give your weaknesses to others just for them to believe you? Whether they believe your words or not is up to them, including trust and forgiveness.

I felt like MC should’ve punched that f*cker Koo Tae what’s his name, the way he grabbed MC by the wrist was asking for a f*cking goddamn slap in the face and a black eye.

I already can’t stomach a majority of the characters, well practically ALL of them so really, I’m dropping this shit.

[collapse]

Things that a good about this novel though are:

Spoiler

MC has trust issues, an identity crisis and is fearful and flustered by his situation of possessing the villain’s body. I like how he’s in a constant state of apprehension and worry before he gets to farm in peace. Quite frankly, unless you are a seasoned adult with experience in society, being transported into an unfamiliar world with absolutely NO ONE you know besides characters in a book who are the only people you have a connection to, his reactions are reasonable. Furthermore, his excitement towards the protagonist omega felt relatable since he’s something MC is basically familiar with but then he’s doused in reality that the world is not so kind to him hen the omega is on guard against him.

[collapse]

All in all, this is just my personal opinions so read if you will, I just can’t stomach mc’s grovelling with apologies as the fastest way, thinking it’ll get rid of all their problems (which is a common theme I’ve seen in a lot of Korean novels involved with transmigration into a villain) which is a personal distaste for me.

I want in thinking it would be a light hearted read as other reviewers said but I came out with high blood pressure instead 😭 guess it was my bad as I should’ve known omegaverse stories are always a miss for me.

This is a "transmigrated into a harem novel as a side character/antagonist and tried to stay away from the plot, only for the harem to stop liking the original protag and become obsessed with me instead" except it's actually done well. The obsession of the "harem" also stems less from "obsessed because they're suddenly in love with me now" and more based in pride/"the person who was chasing them suddenly doesn't like them anymore? What the heck? He must be up to something because why wouldn't he like me?" and... more>> complex feelings and guilt arising from the idea of a person you hated and wanted dead suddenly disappearing and maybe actually dying tragically. Or genuine cold-blooded malice for almost no reason.

Also surprisingly serious about certain themes. The hypocrisy of the original male leads as love interests is one. My favorite is a theme you don't see enough in isekai series, which is the grief and loneliness that comes with suddenly finding yourself in another world and never being able to see your family again. And then not magically getting over it, having a hard time adjusting, and not being able to see the world as "real" because of it. MC goes from agreeing with all the hate the villain gets to sympathizing and doing things for the sake of his memory because MC understands the kind of loneliness and emotional pressure the villain suffered from.

The love interest isn't clear at this point, and if it wasn't for other reviews I would have guessed that this either ended without MC ending up with anyone or him ending up with Secretary Choi, who I kind of ship him with. Slightly disappointed to be spoiled otherwise. As of chapter 38, the most likely ML seems to be
Spoiler

Seo Eun-soo, the original protagonist, surprisingly. Before that it was just as likely to be his ex-fiance as it was Secretary Choi, but the events of the last two chapters changed that.

[collapse]

Compared to other ABO series, transmigration series, and harem series, it's one of the better works I've read. Not perfect, but giving it a 5/5 anyway. EDIT: I've since completed series, and unfortunately the quality doesn't hold up (spent a lot of time skimming instead of actually reading, if that tells you anything). Frustrating cliches that this story looked like it might avoid or use in an interesting way were used in the same-old, frustrating BL story way. I honestly I feel like this story is more like a 3/5 but only dropped one star out of respect for the excellent beginning. <<less

Quite a simple and chill story about someone reincarnating into a book that their sibling has read....? It's really pretty chill, and there's no complicated social politics or anything going on so I agree with the reviewer who said to not read all of this in one sitting LOL....I'm near the end but I need a break before I pick it back up.

The story (from what I can gather from MTL) is held together pretty well. The MC is not very particularly clever, (nor does he need to be... more>> tbh, for this novel), but he certainly does have a passion for farming and has a rather straight forward sort of charm to him. It's refreshing if you're tired of stories where the MC just kinda, relents to the MLs for whatever reason, or if you want a less traditional/straight forward "alpha/omega" story. The raw MTL is also pretty readable.

overall, this was just a "whatever" read for me. it's not bad, but it's also not something I would particularly go out of my way to read again. it's just chill :)

Spoiler

This is NOT harem story. more like a "some of the characters revolve around the MC for whatever reasons" type story. the MC doesn't get any romantic teasing with the others, so the mutual romance part is pretty..... slow going.

I have a lot of thing to say about this novel. So actually I read this novel before, but I forgot to review this. I love this novel tbh, the characters, and everything are literally perfect to my liking.

BUT. Oh I read some spoilers tho. I can say the spoilers were quite disappointing. Very disappointing. WARNING! BELOW IS A HUGE SPOILER! READ AT YOUR RISK!

Spoiler

Someone actually spoiled that the original Chan Young actually were reborn, and the reason why he committed su*cide because he didn't want to go through another life cycle just like his previous life. So he eventually agreed to let the current Chan Young to get transmigrated in his body bcs he was so tired. And you know what?! The author messed up after this point. Truly messed up. He decided to make the original CY a definite evil villain character. Original CY apparently lose his memory after the agreement and transmigrated in another body in that life resulting him hating the currect MC for taking his body. I was hoping the original CY can live happily since he already tired of being a villain. But the author didn't want let him so. I really hope that this spoiler that I got is not real cause really, I will drop this out.

The spoilers above could be a fake spoiler. But let's hope it's not true. Cause I was hoping it to be fake too. Cause if it's true. Then the author must be f*cking idiot.

I really hope everything will be as exactly as I want. Really, not gonna lie that the plot at the beginning is really good. <<less

(There are moments when one of the characters is talking or thinking, and it changes POVs from "I" to "he" or "character thinking's name", so there is some serious inconsistency there.)

I have to reread some of the chapters because its very confusing. I have to rest because its giving headache. Will give it another chance (09.02.23)

It was boring to read. Predictable.

i hate how the author write the paragraph/sentences. They kept repeating/rephrased phrases every chapters to the point it’s annoying. Without this repeating phases maybe the novel would only have half of its chapters.

The story was also cringey.

... more>> the MC keeps don’t want to be seen as weak but he does nothing “big” or prove the he isn’t weak.

And what is the purpose of having the alphas and MC have some interactions, lives in 1 house, then only choose 1 alpha.

THEY ARE HARMONIOUSLY COEXISTING WITH EACH OTHER. So why take the privilege to have it as a reverse harem/poly relationship.

Anyways it was so boring and predicting to read that I would scroll fast chapters and I still can understand it. <<less

It's short, cute and just what I needed when searching for a Stardew like game to play. The humor matches my taste so I found it extremely funny and didn't take it too seriously until plot parts start falling into place.

The writing does have its issues, but thats what can happen in a omniscient POV. For the most part we are only in the MC's head but occasionally be in another character's head but not for very long. You either get used to it, or it will annoy you too... more>> much to finish the book.

The ABO aspects are light so that was nice for someone who doesn't like/read many ABO books. All that really comes into play is the pheromones. On the other hand the transmigration, which I assumed was a throw away point. Turns out, nope, that will become important the farther in you get.

There's not much to the farming. No super in depth explanation about plants and how to raise them. I mostly just imagined the MC was playing a stardew like game (Plant the things, make sure they get watered and wait).

For the romance, it felt like it could take a harem route it doesn't, praise the author. Oh and

Bless the author for not having the MC end up with one of the old gongs. I would have cried.

It is boring. Not interesting with the farming since he just uses money and the descriptions are not satisfying. Not interesting with the Alphas since they are all act like and are treated like paper people. Maybe it gets better, but I dropped it after 55 chapters of meh.

So I somehow dropped this midway. MC chose farming is okay. I still found it weird that suddenly everyone interested in him when the soul change. Like, the grandpa?? And all alphas. Grandpa isn't any better tho, I mean, he wasn't there when body owner was shunned by his family because he is recessive omega instead of a beta. But now he thought his grandson is "sick", he suddenly care. I also dislike the ex fiance. Dude literally drooling over other omega, and now he wants to care??? The other... more>> alphas are also not attractive and weirdos.

But I find original uke is someone who is recessive omega, turned dominant omega, turned dominant alpha, is very weirdly convenient for the plot. Yes, he is the best choice out of all the weirdos, but it still too convenient and weird. <<less

this was fun to read! At the beginning, I didn’t really like any of the gongs and I just wanted the MC to be left alone. Speaking of MC, I loved him sm! Like his backstory was just so sad and really hit me in the feels. Im just a sucker for sad backstories. His love for farming was so funny too! Bro went from a businessman to a farmer. The ending was perfect imo. The fact that he (SPOILER: chose the novel’s shou instead of the gongs was perfect).... more>> The gongs imo weren’t the best either. They were at times entitled and did what they want. As the story progressed they stopped but it was just annoying. I also liked the original villain. He was very flawed, and I liked that about him. Everyone in his life refused to give him affection and that balled up, leading to his ending. I really felt pity for him. The translation wasn’t the best, although that’s the case with most translations of korean novels. The pronouns would be mixed up, the pov’s would switch from first to third, and at times you couldn’t tell who was talking. Regardless, if you can ignore that, this one was a cliche but fun read. <<less

The alpha's/gongs were some of the most annoying I've ever seen in BL. Like they weren't the worst but they each were so entitled and pathetic. They had absolutely no respect for MC and never listened to what he wanted at all. Even the surprise alpha I was routing for became that way too. I skipped from ch78 to like 112? I think and there was no difference at all in their treatment of him and while MC calls them out on their behavior he doesn't really take action to... more>> get rid of them. Every time MC is throwing tantrum it tired me out, like MC, if you hated them so much why not using more of your chaebol powers: you have money and influence, you can get rid of them out of your house anytime with grandpa's help. If you can't cut them out of your life completely, you can make a compromise, like meet them once a while? Better than see them all the time and stressed yourself out. MC whining so much but do nothing, it seriously tiring.

Also I understand that the MC sympathized with the original Cha young, that what the gongs did were pretty terrible itself, but what cha yong did was not better (why was he the only one who painted as cartoonish villain?). My point is as an outsider MC feels like projecting too much of his feelings as a reader, would be nice if he can consider where all parties coming from, remember they're no longer a fictional characters, they're humans who has ups and down. Yeah I get it he has issues but it was separate matter with cha yong issues. Sorry but I am not take kindly with MC attitude when do jun worried sick after MC had seizure and got hospitalized, you don't need to forgive him but at least appreciated the help for saving your life like decent human being

[collapse]

Some of the characters could be become interesting characters but nope. It feels like the author wasted their potentials. And the ML? The way he becomes ML is kinda random, but I could let it slide. I don't hate the ml, but his personality is seriously bland, and the chemistry with MC is just because he's the nicest (nothing wrong for ended up with the nicest character but come one. You need to more than being nice to create interesting dynamic.)

The story could be interesting later on, but nope. Reading novel is one form of entertainment, if I no longer enjoyed it anymore, better dropped it.

Sorry for my terrible English. <<less

Hm... how to say it... it's not bad but... it can be a bit boring... and it talks too much about food. Like... there's chapters where food is mentioned like 3-4 times at least and in every other chapter... and it's not even about the food farmed but Korean food... I skipped a lot of paragraphs just talking about food. For solid half of it it was just farming and food... and it wasn't even a healing farming nike we have healing cooking so it was... disappointing...

And the how's and... more>> why's of his transmigration and how it was all solved... felt weird and incongruent with the rest of the novel. Like... a child rearing story turning into horror before ending with a happy ending. It left a waird taste in my mouth tbh...

On the other hand I wish the author spent half the effort they put on describing food on talking about the alphas, their past and how and why they are the way they are. We barely get to know about the past of one of them, which explains his personality and slow changes but we get nothing about the others. That includes the ML.

I get why the ML is the ML and it's clear who he is from fairly early on, but after all I felt kind of bad for the others and wish there were extras about their life after rejection and them finding happiness.

Another point I'm dissatisfied with is the mc's family. Only his grandfather fix himself and his relationship with MC. His parents and sisters are mentioned but don't appear even once. It's like they are not family at all. Like the author was to lazy to fix his relationship with his family and just focused on the gramps... probably because that's where the money comes from.

There's also no growth for the MC as a person. At most knowledge about farming and his dream job of farming... all funded by gramps. And honestly? His past life doesn't justify his knowledge about hands-on farming. He should've at least tried to get into the agricultural department of a college and learning about it instead of just diving in head on! Yeah... I know a bit about farming and it's dang irrealistic... even more so if he was such a sick person in that life.

Honestly 90% of the novel is just him... whining about everything... and the other 10% is food. It gets tiring...

It's one of the most illogical novels I've read... like where tf would such "high quality alphas" rich, handsome, capable and busy just... put everything aside to farm for a month at least just to chase someone??? Even their behavior in the ogNovel was more logical than this.

The more I write the worse the novel seems to me... how? How did I manage to finish it? Idk... but I kinda regret it. <<less

The novel has a really slow pacing but I still enjoy it. It is not a heavy romance, more like a slice of life whit a pinch of ABO. Was a pleasant read, can't wait to see how the story ends. I'm not much a harem enjoyer, but this one is in the OK territory as it is not much relationship oriented (at least from the MC's pov) for the first 100 chapters. The story is interesting and as I recently bought a summer home, I'm actually interested in the... more>> farming.

The translation is a bit weird. In the beginning I was thinking that the translator don't talk much Korean, later I started to think that it was actually the lac of English or the combination of both. But idk... maybe it's just how the original is written? Sometimes the same name has a different spelling in the same paragraph, sometimes whoever is narrating at the moment reffers to themself as "I" or "he" or with his own name, also some weirdly structured sentences that make grammatically no sense. No hate to the translatot tho, I am grateful that I am able to read the novel at all, just a heads up to anyone who is bothered by such things

I rate it 4.5/5 - pleasant read, interesting enough to keep me hooked, will continnue to read. <<less

The story starts out strong but it slowly loses momentum. My biggest complaint has to be MC not keeping up their stubbornness and slowly becoming a pushover. It can be argued that the MC took everyone by surprise at the beginning but it still feels that way.

Spoiler

There's also a period in the story where it feels that the author is forcing the MLs into the MC's space without a real reason. That there makes it a little awkward to read as it becomes the driving force of the plot. It's established at the beginning of the plot that the MLs couldn't give two damns about the MC and it's guilt that drives them to him. But that's not enough to keep them on a leash, that's where the awkwardness comes in as a reader.

The premise of the story is very fun and I really enjoyed the way the protagonist went about figuring out how to "get out of the story" so to speak and find his way in this new life. Particularly the emphasis on how far being rich gets you is incredibly fun. I also enjoyed the way the author pointed out the double standard of how an Omega chasing after an Alpha is perceived vs Alphas chasing after an Omega.

However, as others have already pointed it out, the writing style leaves... more>> much to be desired. I can deal with confusing translations, I'm more disappointed at the huge cast of characters we immediately get introduced to without getting a particular description of who these characters actually are. This story feels very much like it's still in first draft, more focused on picking up plot beats like bullet points instead of delivering us a setting to go along with it.

I've dropped the story for now, I might return to it at a later point. <<less
