He Xiaoya is staying at her elder sister’s house, who has an adopted daughter of a similar age.

Her niece is obsessed with romance, so much so that she gave up attending a better university for the sake of a man and instead went to a vocational college.

The man became a frontline worker in a factory. The elder sister introduced her niece to an officer in the same factory, but the niece insisted that the salary of a frontline worker in heavy industry is higher than that of a cadre.

He Xiaoya was surprised. Newly graduated university students earn less than migrant workers, but after a few years, their salaries would increase, and office jobs are less physically demanding.

Then, the elder sister decided to give the things intended for her daughter to He Xiaoya, wanting to provoke her daughter and bring her back to the right path.

He Xiaoya accepted, saying, “I can do it!”

The elder sister also introduced He Xiaoya to someone with a good family background, a future business tycoon. He Xiaoya was even more enthusiastic, saying, “This is even better!”

This made the niece very unhappy, and she hysterically screamed, “Aunt is just a freeloader!”

The elder sister slapped her daughter hard, saying, “At least she is related to me by blood, but what about you?”

He Xiaoya: “I can just take it easy now!”

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this story. I kept trudging on to see what would happen.

I think it's easiest to notate in bullets.
    • The summary provided is simply setting the initial scene of the story.
    • The transmigration only really comes into play for MC to combat against OG!FL and the s*um BIL and related people.
    • This whole story is similar to those family ethics dramas with a bajillion episodes. This means that there is a lot of narration (not dialogue) about people's characters and reasoning and portrayal to others. At times this was interesting to read and at others tedious.
    • Due to the previous point, there are quite a lot of annoying/dislikable characters.
    • Additionally, the story revolves around MC while simultaneously not giving her enough of a story.
    • I wish ML would get more 3D because as of halfway through, he is quite a flat character. He dotes on the MC and we've been given hints at the very beginning that he likes MC before their initial meeting but no true details.
    • The extras tie up a lot of loose ends and we get to see how the life played out for various side characters.
    • The characters (would they be the antagonists?) get fairly satisfying conclusions.
I'm honestly just rushing to finish now. I can understand why the rating is in the middle for this story. It's a true "slice of life".

If you like to read a story about life with drama but not just a face slapping machine, this might be for you.

The main plot is about He Xiao ya (the FL) living at her sister's house. She lives with her sister (He Meili) and her sister's husband (Jiang Dahai) and son (Jiang Ziliang) but also with the adopted daughter of her uncle (Jiang Zingman). When the FL was young she recovers her memories and understands that Zingman is the protagonist of a novel. Everyone cares for Zingman and gives in to her. He Xiao ya is 18 years old and it's the late 80s I think (it doesn't say when but... more>> China just opened its market to the outside world after the reform) when the story begins and she is about to start college. What I liked the most was her personality, she is sharp mouthed and outspoken so she will never suffer a loss. Later we understand that she is alienated by all her family so if she doesn't fight for things she will be bullied. This story is quite mature in contrast with other stories. The romance is really a subplot, the male lead is more or less a secondary character There's no kiss, hug or anything physical and even their wedding is just another event in their lives. That's because the novel is narrated as a slice of life but the rithm is really fast (there's no scenes of daily life but life events that mark ones life). The novel it's narrated ina third person and also tells how other characters live (Jiang Zingman, Jiang Dahai, He's Father and Mother...). I won't say more, just that I binge headed in a week nonstop. <<less

I should've read the other review before picking this book up.

I was also starting to wonder why I kept reading around ch 40. After the first major arc of the story, I just didn't want to read about the side characters. I'd rather read about the MC but she doesn't do anything or the pace of the story is so slow that interesting happens.

Either this gets boring so quickly once the og female lead leaves. You're stuck with random stories about side characters. Neighbor A loves to gossip, dude's mom... more>> is just around to take his money, Girl A is so in love and a bad parent because of it.

I liked how the MC treats other people, very much an eye for an eye. But low-key it doesn't sound like the MC and ML really like each other because the author spends so much time developing the backstory for every new side character. It's a lot of filler and it's really disappointing because it started off pretty interesting.

I can't give.5 stars but my real rating is 1.5 stars. It's not worth the time to read it. <<less
