This novel is also known as [I was caught and brought back after using and tossing aside the Great Demon King of e-sports…]

Wei Xiao––the former rookie king of the league, now an accompanying player and tr*sh talk king, had a stupefied look on his face!

Someone bought 10,000 games with him!

200 yuan a game, for a neat and tidy total of two million yuan!

Wei Xiao: “Boss, you didn’t miscount the zeroes, right?”

“No.”

“You want me to accompany you to play 10,000 games?”

“Mm.”

Wei Xiao was amazed. But just when he thought he’d encountered a generous fool and was having a good time deceiving and playing with them, he discovered the other party’s identity.

This person actually turned out to be his previous captain, the one whose hands were tired from accepting too many championship trophies, the one who made everyone feel fear when they heard his name, the Great Demon King of the league, Lu Feng!

Wei Xiao: “I’m sorry for disturbing you, goodbye!”

Lu Feng picked up the little bastard who wanted to run, “Have you played around enough? Come back for training if you’ve played enough!”

Later on, Wei Xiao became famous in a single game. The host interviewed him, “How would you evaluate God Lu?”

Wei Xiao: “God Lu? Great technique, strong physical strength, and the most heaven-defying thing is his endurance!”

Host: “???”

How come the answer seemed to be a little strange?!

It's filled with tr*sh-talking and a protagonist that keep digging his own grave. Our MC is both a genius and a dummy at the same time lol.

As for the gaming aspect, it didn't go in-depth like The Kings Avatar. The fight scenes are more like a concise summary with occasional tr*sh-talking to keep nongamers interested in reading the novel. From that could be read so far, the author does play some game, so there's no awkward mechanics that just being there to make the MC looks great.

It's a fun read... more>> until I remember that the average pro gamers didn't look all that cute in real life. <<less

This started out really good. While I was reading the first 100+ chapters I already planned out how to write a 5* review for this because I was enjoying it so much...

... who knew that after the MC and ML got together, the MC turns into a complete brainless, lovestruck idiot. Before that, his idolization of the ML was still endearing, and I was even enjoying their 'honeymoon period' for a while after they became a couple. But it slowly got more and more exaggerated to the point where it... more>> became annoying and I had to ask myself why I even liked the MC in the first place. (Bai Cai might not be my favorite character but MC's treatment of him was getting more casually cruel rather than the friendly ribbing it was in the beginning, especially when Bai Cai normally showed more concern for the MC when he didn't have to).

Even the MC's e-sports career development isn't standing out for me. He's a little copy of the ML, but 'crazier'. OK? That's all? We only get glimpses of his leadership skills and 'tacit understanding' with his other teammates. They usually get pushed aside during matches but we're told that they're amazing and getting better and better.

Speaking of matches, I feel like it's already starting to get repetitive and boring. Like sure, they win some and they lose some, but I feel like the stakes itself isn't that high anymore. It also doesn't help that all their opponents are incredibly likeable and their personalities are so distinct, with many potential side CPs to root for, so our main team winning or losing the championship doesn't feel like a do or die kind of scenario anymore.

The MC and ML are too busy in their lovey-dovey world, so what if they lose? Who cares, as long as they got each other. (My last straw was FTW vs. RR in the finals of the regular season, a match that was hyped in the beginning but was settled in one paragraph... this was after it was hyped that it was Tang Chen's last match. The match was settled quickly probably because the author wanted to move onto the 'highly anticipated' reunion between the MC and ML.)

Romance comes first, the e-sports aspect comes second. That's just the message I'm getting with the progression of the novel. This might be what some people are looking for but it's just not for me. So it's with great disappointment that I am dropping this story for now, but maybe one day I would be willing to give this story another shot just because... this novel is really funny. And they do emotional scenes quite well too. If nothing else, I might continue this to see if there's any progression or resolution with Pajamas CP and Koi CP. <<less

I love the characters but it's annoying how many times they bring up the past. I've been binging it so it feels like someone was repeatedly and constantly telling me the sun rises in the east. I get it. So, my advice - read slow. Read only a few chapters everyday.

Other than that I love the look on the bright side and fight to win attitude. I love how they grew up even when surrounded with unfortunate circumstances, in all senses. Arrogance becomes confidence once did what you say. It's... more>> cool to be able to be so reckless. <<less

I can't take it seriously or be really immerse in the story cuz of the constant comedic tone. I mean, I don't even know much about the characters yet and the puns just don't work on me. I guess this is how Long Qi's writing style is, I can't remember much of Reborn as a Sytem but I feel like they're pretty similar.

I'm looking for something like FOG and I Can Do It, like the humor in ICDI doesn't feel forced

It's one of the best moba game novels out there. The character's have depth, unique personalities, and also great interactions. The writing style was translated well which is really immersive and you can clearly feel their emotions. The intensity of the games plus the emotional rollercoaster you'll feel makes the ending really worth it. Although it's serious at times, there's also plenty of actually funny comedy relief which helps regulate the tense atmosphere and helps soothe it out.

The main characters have really logical background stories which vividly shows the way... more>> their characters were built. I love that the side characters are also very interesting and have their own goals and motivations. Everyone wants to win in an esports competition and there's lots of dilema of who should win between two teams. It's definitely a must read if you like competitions, emotional read, with comedy and interesting characters.

The only thing that some people may struggle with is the gaming terms and what the game is about. I'd say the translator did a great job explaining it but it'll be good to either research a bit or watch a few moba game matches to understand the gaming layout, maps, and structure. <<less

To be honest, the summary and excerpt here really doesn't do the novel justice. I really love this novel as it has a great balance of plot, romance, action, and easy-to-love characters. But just saying that is not enough so here are my 6 reasons why:

1. The characters, even the side characters are well developed and fleshed out. I felt for each and every one of them and was rooting for them every step of the way.

2. The story is predictable sure, it's the kind where MC wins, but it's... more>> how they won and how the author puts significance in the meaning in the wins that makes this more layered and wholesome.

3. The main character is such a menace but I did not find him annoying at all. He's really funny and I love how his menace remains throughout the novel.

4. The relationships between the characters are just *chef kiss*. The author focuses on multiple friendships and brotherhood between the characters and not just focus on the romance of the main pairing. There's the sweet but dysfunctional brotherly love between Close and the former FTW members, the ride-or-die bro-hood between Wei Xiao and Bai Cai, and Wei Xiao's mentorship bullying with the younger players.

4. The! Romance! Is! So! Healthy! I love how they have their faults at first, with Close treating Wei Xiao as a kid to be protected, and Wei Xiao putting Close on a pedestal. Then they gradually moved to a more balanced relationship as they start to learn to trust and depend on each other, but at the same time keeping the core of Close spoiling Wei Xiao silly and Wei Xiao admiring Close's strength and stamina, innuendo fully intended. I have gotten diabetes from all the sugar and food poisoning from the dog food thanks to this novel.

5. I've mentioned that I love the characters but it bears repeating. Close and Wei Xiao has my heart. And I feel for brother Cai, may he gets his peace.

6. The translation are really great and enhances the characters and the plot. Translation groups are the backbone of our society.

I would love to read more about their day to day fluff and it's the only gripe that I have for this novel. Otherwise, it's really good novel to read. 5/5. <<less

One of the best esports novel other than FOG!! No regrets reading all 299 chapters (づ ̄ 3 ̄) づ~

I love how this novel got me supporting every team (even though I really want FTW to win at the very end for a v impt reason which you will find out after reading it. N tbh Lu Feng (ML) really deserved the win 🥹 my baby suffered a long 3 years) the side characters were all so well fleshed out. The back story can literally be described as hopeless and tragic.

Anyways, im... more>> super glad Wei Xiao (MC) came back into the ML's life by joining the professional team. He not only brought the team hope but also the ML. I wouldnt brag much about him but his presence in the team really changed everything. He supported his teammates, bringing them progress and confidence. He also care and love the ML when he had been all alone for so long. He brought everyone hope.

Anyways, this novel won't be a waste of time so please please go read it. I need more people to give Wei Xiao and Lu Feng lots of love!! <<less

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS NOVEL!!!!! I was recommended this through a twitter post and was intrigued by the e-sports, as I've always been a fan of e-sports stories, and im proud to say it did not disappoint at all!!!!! The game system is fairly easy to understand and is mapped out in a simple way. I wish it was real!!!

the story itself is very, very heartwarming. It’s not actually a slow burn and the main couple is established for most of the novel, for all of you who hate being... more>> kept on the edge, LOL. They’re so very sweet and I have to say that this is one of my favorite novels where all the conflicts are mostly external/don’t go on between the main couple. If you’re not into that, this might not be for you, but I still suggest it regardless, because the conflicts more than make up for it.

of course, im not going to spoil it, but the conflicts truly make your heart hurt. There are a lot of situations that will make you feel very, very deeply, but thankfully the MC is there to lighten it up. That’s another thing I really like- there’s a lot of sad things that can come out of this novel, yet the MC always makes light of the situation. So while it is pretty painful to read some parts, it’s also incredibly sweet. The author balances out heartache and toothache perfectly, I really enjoy that.

i could say sooo much more, from the dynamic between the MC and ML to the side characters and gameplay, but i’ll stop here. I hope a lot more people read this novel- it deserves to be brought to light!!! It’ll forever be in my heart, so I hope you can give it a try too! <<less

Contains minor spoilers

I haven't been a huge fan of esports novels in the past, but this novel was simply glorious. Even though it was extremely long at 299 chapters, it was well-paced and maintained its flow. It has the perfect ratio of gaming to romance; and even though I don't have any knowledge on these types of games, I still found this part generally intriguing. However, what really pulled me through was the beautifully sweet and wholesome relationship between Wei Xiao and Lu Feng. Their romance really melted my heart-... more>> Wei Xiao's pure devotion towards his Captain and Lu Feng's adorable doting towards his Xiaoxiao.

Wei Xiao is truly such a wonderful character. He says everything that's on his mind; he is both cool and cute, yet also a total savage. Throughout the novel, the ambiguity in his words and the torment which Bai Cai must suffer due to his dirty mind is really silly haha. The dynamic between Wei Xiao with Bai Cai and many other side characters was humorous yet heartwarming, because Xiaoxiao has a huge heart which brought all of them together! I was touched by Wei Xiao's efforts to mend the Team of Gods' broken hearts; he knew well that his Lu Feng remained haunted by the old FTW, and so he went above and beyond, all for the sake of his Captain! At first, the image of the Gods' relationship was estranged, but slowly revealed layers of guilt, care, longing, and brotherhood. The author smoothly conjured the feeling of bittersweetness for Lu Feng and his old teammates, which added depth to the relationship dynamic between all the characters. Despite Wei Xiao's past, he was able to open up to those around him and bring everyone together. He, who haad been drowning in the weight of his grandma's death and his promise to her, was welcomed into Lu Feng's heart- as his friend, his family, and his lover.

Unlike Wei Xiao, Lu Feng seemed cold and distrustful of others... Until Wei Xiao melted away the ice, revealing Lu Feng's true colours: soft and gentle, like the breeze. Their relationship involved little misunderstandings and healthy communication. Their love for each other was clearly conveyed through both actions and words, and their mutual understanding of one another was impeccable. This is how they were able to heal each others' wounds; this is why Wei Xiao and Lu Feng are perfect for each other.

In each other, they had finally found a home.

Dropped at Chapter 148.

Sigh, I can't go on anymore. I tried finishing this for the past two weeks but it feels like a chore. The novel was fun to read at first, fresh and funny. MC, Wei Xiao, has a razor sharp tongue and excellent gaming skills. I liked him and his interactions with others... tough on the outside but is a true softie.

The novel starts to drag after the couple gets together. There is the game competition plot to carry it on but it's by pulling on... more>> the heart strings of the reader's patriotism. But umm, I'm not Chinese so it ain't working on me. It turns me off a lil too since there are insinuations of racism, that foreign people look down on Chinese people.

In summary, a novel that started off strong but lost its momentum halfway through.

Spoiler

ML, Lu Feng, fell in love with MC at first sight. However, MC considered ML as his idol at first.

MC didn't sign with ML's team in the past because his grandmother got sick and passed away. He thought she didn't want him to pursue e-sports so he gave it up for college. However, ML helped MC realize that this wasn't true and that she was proud of him.

As of Chapter 148, MC and ML are a couple. ML has gone overseas to rehab his bad shoulder. MC is leading the team during China's regular season games.

Love MC's shameless personality, side characters have fun personality's too. ML's personality does not stand out and has similar vibes to most CN MLs as in known for cold and stoic but sweet towards MC

This is overall enjoyable however impossible for me to finish reading. I'm someone who has to binge series and can't read one chapter weekly or pick up where I left off after 6 months because I can't read stuff if I forget small details. However, this series becomes painful to binge around the 150-200 chapter mark... more>> for me because it is painfully repetive in some cases when describing the games --it fills up word count and I can't bring myself to care, I definitely believe this series goes on for longer than it should. This is my second time attempting to read it and I still can't finish the last 100 chapters because we all know they're going to win the championship so there's nothing left to look forward to.

The couple gets together rather late in word count and I'd consider this slow burn not rushed but it's early in relation to how much the author writes and how much more there is left

From how far I managed to read it's 5 stars and I recommend reading atleast first 100-150 chapters it's wonderful but this would have been god tier if the aurhor did not focus so much on describing small matches or perhaps made them more interesting. There are many novels were the plot itself carries and you would read it even if the novel had no romance (e.g. Mo dao zu shi suceeding so much even as donghua and drama where the bl is cut and censored because the world building and other characters are amazing) this is no king's avatar either where the gaming and competition aspect is amazing on its own. If the romance was cut from this one it could last a bit on the mc's snarky personality but it would be so much worse. The romance carries this but halfway through the novel theyre together and its stale again just short descriptions of them flirting and repetitive. Of course there's still character development but not enough for me to read presumably over 200000 more words of random competions its just dull now unfortunately even though the start was so strong.

tl;dr : amazing intially but also I dropped. Read until you feel like you're forcing yourself to read more and it starts feeling repetitive --worth reading till couple gets together <<less

Oh my god, I love the dynamics of the couple but what I like the most here is the tortorous but wholesome bond of the old FTW. They may not seem close but when you reach their story, I just want to bawl and crave for more. Prequel or fanfiction about this, I don't mind. PM me.

Really love this novel! It kind of reminds me of the anime Haikyu!! Even though the MC here is strong from the start, unlike the MC in the anime. But the vibe is similar, the competition scene is very wholesome. The story tells stories of various players from various teams and the protagonist is a very social person who easily befriends most players in the scene. There are only very few "villains" in the story but it's still extremely interesting since it's about the competetion. I also love that they... more>> didn't go overboard with like responses and talk from netizens since I personally don't like that very much.

All in all it's more a good vibes kind of story and is definitely a happy read for me. I love that so many characters in this story are so 3D and that the story doesn't just revolve around MC and ML.

I really wish this could get a drama adaptions, since I like the story even more than "Falling Into Your Smile/You’re Beautiful When You Smile". <<less

Since I started with this genre, then I should continue enjoying this while I still can. This one is always on my recommendation list, so I'm giving it a try now.

The MC is a ball of sunshine! 😂 And I am encountering the same ML [BOW], personality and experience, woooooh!! Ugh the Drama. Oh well, moving on.

I can't say that I don't like it. It's amazing actually. It's just that, heavy focus on gaming, too tiring for someone who's not into gaming like me. So I will put this onhold... more>> for now.

Trust me, it's a good novel. Slowburn romance though. <<less

This is one of the best e-sports bl novel I have read.

This is fast paced. Give enough attention towards the e-sports aspect. You can see the ups and down. You can see that they are actually trying hard and don't always win without any obstacle.

The MC and ML fits very well, I find the interactions very warm. The author provide the right amount of romance in my perspective. I would recommend this to people who likes reading novels based around the e-sports circle. Even people who don't read bl can... more>> read it as long as they can ignore the bl part. <<less

I'll update this at a later date, but for now can I mention how annoying Bai Cai is.

He's labeled as a strong support, but from what I've been reading, he's the opposite. Why does he even bother being a professional player if he's not going to give it his all? Not to mention he rarely acknowledges that he's terrible and doesn't own up to when he's obviously playing badly.

'He doesn't lift nor bring down the team' What? Is that supposed to make me go "Ahh of course, now I know... more>> why he's so useless. Continue on" ??? Like IMO he adds zero value to the team and they'd be better off without him.

Also I have to mention how annoying he is every time he tries to squeeze himself into Wei Xiao and Lu Feng's affairs like... I don't care that WX is your friend? Mind your business. ALSO HIS SIDE ACCOUNT ??? Why is he writing fan-fiction about his team? It's honestly so weird to me. Like you spend all this time accumulating a following on this side account when you could spend it on trying to be an actual decent support.

It also frustrates me that everyone tries to explain Bai Cai's uselessness for him like??? Why does everyone think he's so good when he's literally the worst member on the FTW team?

I love this novel but man his character pisses me off every chapter. <<less

Tentatively dropping this. I don't know why, but I just can't bring myself to continue reading.

Perhaps it's because MC feels a bit too childish for my taste; I don't know.

I'll probably come back to read this once it's fully translated. Or when I run out of stuff to read.
