Extremely OP MC with equally OP ML. If you prefer weak to strong, then this might not be for you. As for the ones who don't really have a preference on the strength level of the CP, please read this trust me you will not regret it.

Plot and writing:

  • Very very very well written? Like it's not complicated and deep but it's like tiny threads which weave around and form a solid, very convincing story.
  • Everything has a meaning, and I mean it. Even the tiniest details will have a reason behind it, sometimes even multiple reasons.
  • A lot of the exam questions do not have a fixed answer, and it isn't required (they're going to destroy it anyways lmao)
  • Although I will always sing praises of the plot, if you (like me) like to try to solve the puzzles alongside the MC then you might be slightly disappointed. A lot of details are not given and quite a lot of times, a luck factor is included. If you're bothered by these, then the plot might seem a little dull.
  • However the writing and comedy is just so good that I honestly didn't mind any of this.
  • The way they solve the exams and create a mess for the system is so satisfying to read that I would forgive anything else.
  • Overall for plot: 9/10
Characters and CP:

  • Love them. Like literally love them so so much.
  • The MC is aloof and cold, but he has a reason for it. ML does his best to get his expressions out, and he gets a lot more expressive towards the end. You can feel the way the MC warms up to the ML and the people around him, going from seemingly uncaring to actively helping the ones he cherishes.
  • All characters involved have depth and liveliness to them, 3 dimensional and actually important to the storyline and characters.
  • They form a sort of found family and gosh I am weak for found family tropes.
  • The CP is one of the sweetest and most caring I have seen.
  • Can and will scatter dog food without consideration for the single folks around.
  • Also another thing I love about them is how much of their relationship is built on trust. They understand each other so well that they do not need words or looks to communicate with each other.
  • Something like tacit understanding between old teammates, or an old married couple lmao. But they could work together perfectly even when they threw insults and taunts at each other.
  • Overall for characters and CP: 10/10 would 100% recommend they are beautiful
TL;DR: 100% a must read I love everything about this book. If only it laster longer T_T I will miss it dearly. Till then, I guess I will read the manhua to satisfy my brainrot. An absolute masterpiece and I cannot convey it with just words, please give it a try!

3.5/5

To be completely honest, I'm not a master when it comes to writing reviews or, well, using words, but I will try to do my best and convey all the points that I deem important, and explain why I could give this novel 3.5 points only.

Let's start with the story itself as it's the strongest point of the novel.

Here we meet face to face with a certain system that drags random people in and forces them to take exams in order to filter the best of the best. Examinees are... more>> tested on multiple subjects and the exams themselves are somewhat out of the ordinary. Only the smartest and the strongest can survive.

Now, the story can be divided into two parts: the one where the MC actually takes the exams, and the one where he and Co try to destroy the system. The first part is extremely interesting. As we (along with MC) aren't really familiar with the system or what's going on at first, there's a lot of mystery and guesses that make the story even more interesting. Someone with a wild imagination would certainly enjoy that first part, as it's both spooky and thrilling. Of course, there're flaws in this part as well but the events are so fascinating and interesting that you don't really notice any issues. I would give this part 4.5 points.

However as soon as we cross the middle point and the cards slowly but surely start getting revealed (it's rather easy to guess what the cards will be several chapters ahead...), all the mystery (that, personally, sparked my interest at first) gets stripped away and we end up being left with nothing but flaws and a monotonous description of events. It's not that bad at first, but the further the novel progresses, the more it reminds a history book. One with an unpleasantly anticlimactic ending. By the end of it, I personally got so bored that I started counting words until the end of the book.
It's rather a drastic difference to how it was during the first part of the novel, isn't it? Unfortunately, I can give this part 1.5 points only.

Unfortunately, the very same issues can be seen in the relationship between the MC and ML. At first, when there's no romance on the horizon, the tension between them, intensified by bickering and jabs, is both palpable and exciting. It's very interesting to read their interactions and guess how exactly their relationship would develop. However, just like with the story itself, we end up being left with a dry description of interactions and lack of tension. "Ah, the ML kissed/ touched the MC's hand. What went through his head? Did he feel anything? What about the MC? Feelings? No?" No. There's a mention of them, like "his heart skipped a bit for some reason" but, unfortunately, that's it. No insight into what they feel or think. However, with the love line not being the centre of attention in novel and the genre being Shounen Ai, it was forgivable. It would be forgivable IF the author didn't decide to insert somewhat well written romantic interactions between MC and ML from the past or end the novel with a steamy scene out of nowhere (it felt really unnecessary and forced). 3 points.

And the last but not the least, the characters... With the storyline being the strongest point of the novel, its characters, unfortunately, are the weakest one. They are either extremely unrealistic or poorly written. There's no in between.
The MC is of course from the first category. He is
- an exceptionally handsome young man; his looks are so ethereal that every single girl who comes across him, can't help but blush
- extraordinary smart and lucky young lad (despite him claiming otherwise) ; Einstein couldn't even hold a candle to him
- brave, cool, and fearless guy who is coincidentally a master of all martial arts to ever exist
You Huo.

Sounds quite unrealistic, doesn't it? Do not worry, there's also another special, smart, brave, reckless, coolheaded, attractive etc etc. young lad just like him. The ML aka Qin Jiu.
These two are the gods of the gods, the best of the best, one of a kind. As for the rest, well, they are only there to fill in some roles and look at the MC and ML in awe / with an open mouth. Even those secondary characters who play a rather important role in the story, to my dismay, end up being flat, and their personalities and stories ignored.

Overall, this is not a bad novel. The story and setting are interesting and entertaining (to some point) with love line being a somewhat good addition to the story and not taking too much attention from it. The characters are strong, and are good candidates to project yourself onto, especially if you want to feel special. I would recommend giving it a try, maybe you will end up liking it much more than I did 😉

A special thank you to KK translates for the translation 🙏 <<less

Quick and fun read. This story is about a guy called You Huo who gets pulled into a weird 'global entrance exam' run by a strange 'system', except you pay with your life if you fail the questions. He meets an invigilator, Invigilator 001, and it seems that they have history between them. Over the course of various exams, he realizes that he used to be an invigilator (one of the first invigilators) and he and 001, whose real name is Qin Jiu, knew each other but got their memory... more>> wiped.

The story then turns a bit apocalyptic as the two of them work together to take down the system together with the help of various side characters. A lot of past secrets get uncovered as they figure out how to take down the system - they have to unravel something that happened (the origin of the system) almost twenty years ago.

This book is like a mix of horror, sci-fi, contemporary, mystery, and apocalypse genres. The 'system' is somewhat similar to rogue systems in transmigration novels.

The exam questions were super creepy and very creative - really enjoyed reading about how the two main characters bested each exam. The two main characters are really fun. They remind me a little bit of the main pairings from Silent Reading and Breaking Through the Clouds. They had such a fun dynamic together and I love how much they cared for each other, it was so sweet.

Some parts were a bit far-fetched and the two main characters generally kind of have protagonist plot protection - they best every challenge that comes their way and is always one step ahead of the enemy.

The writing style is soo pleasant to read, especially since I came from the author of Empress Fuyao. No more purple prose! Thank god! Anyway, really enjoyed this book. It's quite short (for a Chinese webnovel) too.

Side note that the portrayal of the Romanian lady was a caricature. <<less

Ratings: 3 stars. [Note: although the translation wasn't particularly my cup of tea, I'm still really thankful towards the translator for making the effort. Besides, the translation does improve as you keep reading.]

Even with the subpar translation, the novel itself was actually pretty good till the Black death arc. (Kinda reminded me of the 'Kaleidescope of Death'). But it gradually became boring as the plot got overly riddled with "coincidences".

Actually had to drag myself to finish the last 20-some chapters. Nonetheless, despite all the plot holes, the predictable plot twists,... more>> and the farfetched protagonist worship, it was still..... in a strange way..... not too bad?

P.s.-- would definitely recommend reading this alongside the manhua. The art-style is gorgeous and it also makes the translation more understandable. <<less

At the time of writing this I have to say I love it. I went through the manhua first and the plot as well as the characters were really interesting (you can read on bilibili comics).

I don't typically write reviews, but as one may notice on their screen, the links don't show. You can go to KK translations, through there get the password (go to the novels section on their site and click the key next to GE). I hope this helps, as I almost cried when I saw the... more>> missing links. As far as I can tell, KK translations is well done and I'm loving it! <<less

I just want to say this is one of the best BL novels I have ever read. The first half is a slow burn from hating each other to tolerating each other but it is so funny how the ML teases the MC. The novel is not just about romance either. The exams are so well thought out and how the ML and the MC, pass the exams are really well thought out without it being boring. I'm glad the author didn't add any unnecessary extra characters to complete the... more>> mysteries or any unnecessary arcs in the story. The sweet moments between the ML and the MC as really satisfying. It was kind of a bummer when I got to the end because I just wanted to keep reading more about their relationship and about how they were when they beat the system. This is a great novel, I highly recommend you read it if you are debating. I finished this novel in 4 days. <<less

Damn, I forgot to do the rating. Anyway, I will give 10 out of 5 hehehe

One of the best novel I've ever read, in fact Global Examination sitting on first position on my fav bl novels. I already read this about year ago and I still like to re-read it until today. I want to write this review so people can know how great, no, how perfect this novel is.

Plot : 5/5

Plot definitely one of the best that I've ever read. It's unusual plot, not your everyday bl novel plot.... more>> You'll see system, an artificial inteligence, a lot of examination, when I read this I felt like I was taking an examination lolol. Anyway, I read that some of people say that the answer of the exam is not make sense and there are a lot of plot hole. First, I won't say that I disagree with them about the answer of the exam. It is pretty hard to understand, but it's not make sense. When you read this story and you felt that the exams were confusing, no need to worry, cause the exam or the test itself not the main point of the story, so just kee going. Second, about the plot hole, I don't found any plot hole. I felt like I can understood about the system, the invigilator, and the examinee. The plot already perfect like that, no need more or less.

Character : 1000/5

hahaha, I know my rate for the character maybe exaggerate but Qin Jiu and You Huo are my favourite couple and one of the best. They both were equal and strong, and they are there for each other. They can't be more perfect than this. One of my fav quotes from this story is :

Spoiler

I'm not here to save you, I'm
here to love you. (Chapter 120)

[collapse]

It just my heart flied to seventh heaven hahaha, they just so sweet and perfect for each other.

Side characters also nice, everyone had their own role, and the author didn't forget to mention them in every arc, not cutting them or things like they suddenly gone. No, everyone on a nice spot and build the story along with the MC and ml

Ending : 5/5

It's the best ending, can't ask any better. I felt like we don't need anything more. The ending already perfect like the way is it. I won't talk about the ending more cause it'll be a spoiler hahaha.

Notes :

That's all about my review hehehe though maybe some of you think that my review are nonsense, it's totally fine. Everything have their own preference and favorite. So, no hard feeling, This review just my opinion.

Happy Reading!! <<less

I loved this story and I'm so frustrated that it's so hard to articulate why but I'll do my best. (I'll admit, it's probably the amnesia and enemies to lovers but shush)

Summary: This is an unlimited flow mystery novel where examinees are removed from their lives and tossed into different tests and receive a score for each one. If they receive a passing overall score, they can either 1) return to their regular world or 2) become invigilators that watch over the exams. We learn why this is happening... more>> in the story. Now let's meet our MC. You Huo (and his uncle and cousin) enter the exam and for some reason he's incredibly good at it. To be more accurate, he's a devilish fiend. As a result of his crazy way of answering questions, the invigilators need to punish him and he meets Invigilator 001 (Qin Jiu, our beautiful ML). However, they both seem to be having issues with their memories? And they seem to hate each other at first glance *cough cough* And then we learn that there used to be an Invigilator A that 001 couldn't stand! Now who could that be?

We move through the story watching them take the exams (which are confusing but there are hints, and the CP are just too good for the system) and discover more about their shared history and the system itself.

Musuli writes beautifully. There are so many wonderful, romantic lines in this story. And I would like to point out that the exams are very interesting and while they are gory and scary (I don't handle mysteries very well but I still liked this), there's always a comedic undertone that keeps you laughing in spite of everything. Similarly, it's the mystery of knowing that they do have shared history that motivates you to read just one more chapter (even though it turns into a binge session)

My favorite part of this story is definitely watching the CP fall in love and also deal with their amnesia! Also face-slapping. There's lots of that too

Spoiler

Seriously, they fell in love with each other 2 and 3x respectively!!! That's beautiful! They're so well-matched for each other and it's hilarious that they didn't want to say anything at first because everyone told them that they hated each other previously.

Also, with regards to their love, I think it's so compelling that not once in the story does the MC ever say that he loves the ML. It's all through his actions and that's so romantic to me.

[collapse]

I should probably point out that the CP are OP to the max and the MC isn't that relatable, but both he and the ML have many endearing qualities! (The ML makes some particularly hilarious decisions) I really read this story just to see their love and bask in it. Their dynamic is funny and thrilling and heartbreaking and tender. This is truly a HE for everyone (even when you thought that it wouldn't be) !

Agh this is such a beautiful story and the manhua adaptation is great too! Please give this story a shot! <<less

QQGK/ global examination, exceeded my expectations. From the characters and the plot, there are so many mystery and plot twist that will keep you curious about what's happening and try to figure things out.

I'll honestly give this book a 1000/10. A very good book. For those who are scared if you didn't understand the plot or solution, just read carefully and you will find some clues and at the end of the mystery or when the characters are having a solution they will explain it clearly.

Ps: not regretting not... more>> to sleep for 3 days just to read this book.

Best book I ever read. Try it first, I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. <<less

This story simply put is beautiful (I normally would say very good, amazing, sad, but this is my first time reading something and thinking that it's just so soooo beautiful) I wanted to write about everything that I like but I think I might just end up spoiling the whole novel so I'm not going to write anything
Spoiler

(I'm just gonna drop a lot of sentences that I couldn't forget)
[“My Big Invigilator’s eyes are very beautiful....

“Very, very beautiful.”]

[“Don’t close your eyes at me Big Invigilator. You don’t need to avoid me. You don’t have to ever do that.”

“I won’t be afraid of you, I won’t distance myself from you and I won’t think of you as a monster.”

“That is how much I love you.”]

[Qin Jiu for some reason asked, “Have I met you before?”

Invigilator A didn’t speak.

Strangely enough, he appeared to be very calm but for some reason there was a brief moment where one would mistakenly feel that..... he was actually very sad.

After a few seconds, Invigilator A retracted his gaze: “No.”]

[this rule was a life-saving talisman for Invigilator A.

The reason why this rule was hidden here was because he had long transferred that life-saving talisman to Qin Jiu.

That was also the reason why he had called Qin Jiu over to the system's core to generate the admission ticket. He could only do this if Qin Jiu’s name was added to the list of authorities in the main control centre.

After Qin Jiu saw this, he quietly moved the immunity back.]

[A long time ago, someone had touched the corner of his eyes and said: Are you uncomfortable here? After leaving the system, I will accompany you to check your eyes.

Later that person left for a while and when he returned, he was the only one who remembered those words.

And after that, when he left the system, was admitted to hospital and had his eyes blindfolded, even he himself had forgotten.

Only after a long period of darkness passed and he stood by the window watching the dazzlingly peaceful sky outside after removing the gauze over his eyes did he suddenly feel that something was missing from his side.]

[Carrying a body riddled with injuries, he managed to successfully disable all twelve attack centres. When he finally had the chance to breathe, perhaps it was because the world was too quiet, he somehow suddenly remembered the moment he met Qin Jiu for the first time——

Standing on the edge of a red-tiled roof, that man looked down at him with eyes filled with light, much like the blazing sun.

That day amidst the blizzard, Invigilator A slowly stood up.

He thought, he had seen a very bright and passionate person. Just relying on this, he felt that he could endure through this harsh, cold winter.]

and every time Qin Jiu called A 'my dear'

I kept passing this novel because Exams? What’s that.

But. When I started reading, continued reading, finally reading finish, I lay down my phone and stare into space. What an incredible journey. The ups and downs. How our two dear MC and ML finds each other throughout the years.

Love this!

I dare say most the people who wrote poor reviews didn’t finish the novel... it all makes sense in the end. I love those sort of stories. Where I’m thinking this is ridiculous and there’s no way this makes any sense then magically the author ties it all together.

The horror tag kind of deterred me but it’s such a highly rated story plus has a drama CD adaptation (and hopefully a drama in the future although with China banning all BL based dramas, I’m not so sure...) so I had... more>> to give it a try. It’s not really that bad of a horror story, and I am a big wuss lol.

Characters are plentiful but less than 10 are actually significant I would say. The invigilator trio and the MC are all charming in their own way lol, and “power couple” really is the right way to describe this story. Slow burn, gradual revelation, sexy as hell with how it’s so... indirect and suggestive. That’s how I feel. I’ll probably reread it soon while listening to the audio drama hehe! <<less

A MUST READ!!!! DEFINITELY.

The plot is just so great! Honestly like the other reviews here bcs of the tag, I was hesitating at first but came to a stop and for me to read this... JUST WOW!

The loneliness, angsts, laughters, longingness, and many other emotions I cant describe right now, Its just so beautfully packed in this novel. The main couple are just TOO OP and so cool.

The arcs are all genius. Its like a comorehension exam that even me as a reader will be able to think deeply... more>> and anticipating the story more. The plot twists, the drama, the comedy.... its all in here. SRSLY WHY THE HECK DID I EVEN HESITATE FOR?!!

The plot was all focused on the horror and kind of a little action from the beginning with mind games, there was only a little to subtle romance between the main couple.. but as it go on later, they are appearing more and more with tons of sad flashbacks and such. For short, this was a slowburn romance yaoi packed with horror and thriller.

The ending was thoughtfully written with a happy ending with all of them going on to their lives, knowing or not knowing each other. It made me cry....

The main couple, YH and QJ have been through a lot. A LOT LOT. I'll call it GOAT. One of the geatest of all time couples for me. (

)

Still, I wanna see this ships and how they sail though.... definitely exoected to see some extras but there were none. TT

Spoiler
    • 922 x 154
    • Di Li x Yu Wen

Especially 922 and 154.... really was a cliffhanger. HMMMM....

Their relation was sooooo beautiful that it brought me to tears. I wanted them to flaunt their relationship infront of everyone. I thought Q-Jiu would do it but sadly they mostly only flirt in private.

Finally, reached the end. This novel is really amazing, the plot is amazing, the characters are amazing, everything is amazing! There is no plot hole atleast (i didn't saw any) everything happened in the story had it's explanation.

The MC and ML are unique and wonderful, their interaction for me is quite hot. MC has a tragic childhood. ML is a tease, they will always bicker but in the end they ALWAYS end up loving each other.
Spoiler

Always because they forgot their past for each other, the cause is the system. ML forgot two times, while MC was only once.

[collapse]

The other characters, I also found them funny especially Yu Wen and old Yu (MC's cousin and Uncle) and ML's subordinates which is 922 and 154.

Overall im very satisfied with the story, I just hope that there is some extra chapter that focus on 154 and the others.

I totally recommend this novel! The author did a good job so the translator too.

I love this novel!! It's worth a try!! Even though the title and story are somewhat not related (the main theme is an exam but a story is more about survival game and use less of the exam subject) It's still fun to read. MC&ML's relaltionship is really interesting. They could be hopelessly romantic in one moment and then jump to teasingly sharp tongue at the next moment. But that's also make their relationship even more interesting.

Unlike other survival theme novel that MC&ML would develop their relation throughout the game.... more>> The story mention more about their past and their rebellious attitude against the whole system which so awesome. There're also some twist in story too but not so shockingly. Side character also well designed, they're not just some blinded pig teammate or another OP without reason. It balance the whole story properly.

Although the story give a feeling of bittersweet vibe along the way, the end is kinda optimistic and not really bad. <<less
