Highly Recommended. The plot is interesting and there is a bit of mystery towards the main character. It is one of the novels that showed the connection between the main character and the main host of the body that he used. The author did a good job using it as the special recipe for their novel. As a reader, I was surprised by the later part once everything was revealed.

This novel made you feel sympathy towards the character. Each struggled in their own life and someone even gave up. The... more>> author did a good job of bringing life to the characters. It might not be too close to reality but it wasn't hard to empathize and understand their characters. It is also not hard to love the megadere main character.

My only complaint is I'm not satisfied with the ending of the antagonists. Some of them are not redeemable. I just hope the author gave them the sufferings they deserve. It was a bit anti-climatic but in the end, it was still okay.

Lastly, I wanted more stories for the side couples. I'm not satisfied with the extras. If only I can beg the author to create a separate novel for them also.

Overall, anyone can enjoy this novel so give it a go. <<less

I can only rate it 2.5 or 3 stars, 1.5 for the translator. Maybe some people truly like this novel, but for me, the story was like dragging and sometimes it was boring. I actually forced myself to finish reading this novel since I have this OCC that once I've started reading I have to finished it.

The plot/world building was not developed enough and sometimes it's like reading a summary that it leaves many gaps. The character building is also poor. I don't find the MC and ML engaging or... more>> interesting. I was even more interested with the original AnYu or DaYu. Maybe the author spend a little more time in developing DaYu. And the fluff, borrowing the word from DaYu, it's just so-so. When reading this don't over analyze the plot much and it will get you through the end. <<less

Half way I'm thinking about dropping this novel, but because it only has 68 chapters so I persevere and I could say I'm not regretting it.

The kinda plot twist? Was a little bit unexpected for me haha

Actually, I rate this 3 stars ... more>>

because I honestly don't like the ML at all. I couldn't side with him even though the author explained how tragic his life is.

But I added 1 star for

the extra story of the og!modern!Yang AnYu. Indeed, he was not a good person for forcing the ML to marry him, but tbh his fall in love at the first sight is kinda sus with how easily he moved on from the ML when he transmigrate (I think he might be not really in love with the ML, but because of the MC's influence (like their soul linked, reincarnation, or what) somehow, idk). Though, I think it just the author want to simply give him a happy ending and I'm not complaining.

I kinda like the bit of twist with MC and oriMC, but can't help being sadden by OriMC.

Spoiler

The fact that both ML and brother knew he wasn't OriMC (current MC) was surprising but also sad fact.

[collapse]

Some say that ML doesn't love OriMC hard enough forget that OriMC was mentally unstable.
Spoiler

He also threaten to su*cide to get ML to sympathize, thus getting him agreeing to marry him.

[collapse]

I'm not saying its wrong but ML is unsurprisingly the reincarnation of the general. He has some familiarity with MC thus even if OriMC look similar they are not the same person. ML is a scum at first don't get me wrong. And compared to many MLs he's not the best or the worst.

In fact the side characters are probably the most interesting in terms of backstory and conflict wise (except for the third pairings, but the third pairing would be fun to read too).

Spoiler

If possible I do want to read about OriMC and the world he got to after death. I find it very interesting.

Actually I like it the first half. The story was interesting and the plot wasn't common. Entertainment and Showbiz mixed with Historical and Reincarnation, as well as Transmigration. However, there are a lot of cons in this story more than pros. First the pros, between the gong and shou, it didn't took too long for them to get together and there's no too much drama between them. Not too much misunderstanding and angst. But the cons, too many cliche and the usual "obsessed shou being married to their love interest... more>> because of the family's power". Although the obsessed was the past original owner of the body, it's still cliche with a lot of twists. Some of the twists were out of place and the story ended up being too chaotic. Their past was too much of an angst.

Spoiler

The ML faced too many people who just wants his fame and status. I mean, in all of that he never encounter at least one good person? Moreover, he just likes the MC after he changed. That's basically wanting someone to change just for you. In a way it was good and understandable because the past MC was obsessive self destructive, but the ML that time never gave the MC a chance and just started paying attention to him when it starts to become the same persona as the one in his dream. The idea of others liking the MC just because he changed is weird and make the person around him seems hypocrites also.

I also feels like the story is too fast paced. The MC have a new soul, then suddenly became a good likeable character. The ML suddenly fell in love with him. He treats everyone around him well, even the Yang Family who doesn't like him in the very first place. How about the feelings of the original owner then? The reason why he doesn't like to be surnamed Yang. It suddenly became a very different path from the original owner. There's no connection at all even though he's using the original owner's body.

Lastly, their past was all too chaotic and "pitiful". Both the MC and ML lost their parents. Had a very depressing childhood. Even the past MC was designed to be pitiful. Too cliche and common in a Romance novel.

[collapse]

There's too many side CPs to the point they're more enjoyable to read than the main CP.

Lastly for the cons, the story was too dragged out. Some conflicts/twists are "unnecessary" and some Chapters made you just want to scroll and skim over it than read everything.

All in all, it was good because the plot was unique and you'll also be curious to finish it because of the foreshadowing, but it just isn't my cup of tea because of the cliche scenarios and conflicts. These are all subjective opinions tho. <<less

I especially wanted to read a amnesia/rebirth/second chance story with a potential past-establishe relationship, so this hit the mark.

Overall, it was a fluffy and entertaining read. There wasn't any particularly standout or unpredictable, which can be comforting if it's what you're into.

Spoiler

The only big plot twist was the ghost part.

[collapse]

The author, I would say, was overly ambitious about some plot points and used very convoluted methods to achieve results. Futhermore, huge chunks of plot were "told" not "shown, " so it felt like reading summarized episodes. There was a ton of exposition to muddle through near the end which contributed to some parts being very boring.

Spoiler

Basically, the ghost part, the ML's past, the MC's prior-to-amnesia-state all went by at the speed of light.

[collapse]

Nevertheless, if you're looking for a comfort read, you've got it. Nothing new, nothing that great, but just enough fluff and entertainment for the most part to tide you over. <<less

The plot had so much potential! What happened??? 😭😭😭😭😭 It's definitely a light read but it could have been much more. I feel that there were too many elements, scenarios, and twists that couldn't be pulled together to form a cohesive narrative. The characters seem to be nuanced but they lose integrity and often act out of character. Conflicts that seem paramount often fizzle out prematurely. The author is a good storyteller and that can be seen from the attention given to movie and script descriptions. I felt that there was... more>> more justice done to fictional characters of the scripts within the novel than to the real characters of the novel.

Sigh! I hope the other works of the author have captured a greater percentage of their talent and skills. <<less

The MC and ML is Great Characters! Their relationship is also Great! Their friends and assistants/bodyguard is also Great!

The story about MC, his journey, his relationship, and his interactions with both Good and Bad Co-stars was written very well!

But some things about the conflicts in this novel feel Fast Paced. Not exactly rushed, and it's not like I'm hoping for slow pace one, but it just feel faster than I expected or like. The Conflict the ML has though... I felt like it was too 'weird'. Yes, it hinted from... more>> the start. But I felt like the Author tried to make some Dog Blood drama or flashback but failed because the Author either can't make that or the author trying to Humanitazed the few 'Villains' but end up left me unsatisfactory feeling. While the Villain that didn't get humanitazed just immediately put down easily in also not satisfying way.

The Side CPs is not bad. But also does not make me excited either. Just personal opinion.

Also unlike many Celebrities/Famous AU novel
Spoiler

the ending doesn't have the main CP announce their relationship to the public. They did it to their close friends at their wedding, they also intent to come out too, but that's it.

The fun part is the Shippers Netizen that has both YanYu and YuYan and the fact the ML read his relationship fanfiction (only the YanYu though. Lol). But still, the netizen moments is only mentioned and not like other novel.

The Papapa scene is top Hot though. 👍👍👍👍👍

I enjoyed this novel and liked it enough. But I sadly don't love it. <<less

It's pretty fun as a casual read.

I'm pretty fond of transmigration stories where the MC changes other people's perception of him (eg Scum Villain, Love Rival Gets Prettier Everyday, etc) so I was naturally attracted to this novel. There are some points that I'm unsure about, which I'll go through below.

Overall, it doesn't seem like the whole transmigrated-from-the-past thing is really relevant, aside from the beginning where ... more>>

and connecting the MC and ML in the present. It was kind of fun, but it seemed to slowly fade from relevance as the story progressed.

The situation between the MC, original Yang Anyu, and ML is still a bit confusing to me. Even though the whole situation was explained, it felt a bit weak and underdeveloped. It's alright, I guess, but only if you're reading this casually. The thing about the MC and original Yang Anyu was kind of interesting, but then it was done and over with, and the story moved on.

After the reveal about MC and the original Yang Anyu, the story just sped through the rest of plot. It was fast-paced, and although there was some set up done in the previous chapters, it still felt like it came out of nowhere? Imo, it felt like it went from 1 to 100 haha.

I do like that the author gave us a lot of dog food. We have been well fed. There's also a lot of (bl) couples in the background, which don't really play an important role aside from giving us new people to ship. I feel fairly neutral about the abundance of bl couples since it's probably just the author having fun.

^^^ this is probably casually written, and should be casually read. If you don't scrutinize it, you'll probably have fun reading it.

I'm likely forgetting some other points, but I can't remember them so I'll just leave it like this. <<less

It's a nice story. I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the plot. Good if you wanna just to pass time.

The story starts a bit angsty and has a nice plot building, but the later part of the story is a bit abrupt.

I like the side couples and also the MC, MC is such a cutie, but ML? ML is a nope, even if he redeemed himself later on, I just felt bad for the MC's original body.

I gave this a 3.5* rounded up to 4 ⭐ not just because of... more>> the ML, but I just don't get why they transmigrate, became a ghost, travel back in time, etc. It's quite ambitious that the plot isn't smooth as I read more. <<less

I generally liked this story and thought it was quite fun. The translators did a great job. The downside was how rambly the story was considering its short length. There's a lot of unnecessary details (why is there a random past life? It doesn't really play into the main story much. Why the fake bad guys?). The final reveal was fun and baffling at the same time.

That said, I thought the characters were likable enough. Everyone gets paired up (so long as they're male), almost to a ridiculous level. Are... more>> there really that many gay people? I love a good bl relationship, but seriously, how do people reproduce in this novel?

The rambly nature of the novel, combined with how short it is, meant I never got super invested. It took me a surprisingly long time to finish, and I never had a driving need to continue reading like I do with other books.

Overall, this was a fun waste of time - not the best, but not the worst either. <<less

The beginning of this novel is quite interesting. However, from mid-story to the end it is very disappointing. ML is a Film Emperor but when he got into trouble I felt he wasn't capable enough to handle it. So is MC. I understand he's a person from ancient times but he's not good enough at exploiting his identity and lacks tricks. Even though the author describes him as an observant character, will not be fooled and able to overcome the tricks of his opponent. But that's not what I see... more>> in the novel. Fortunately, this novel is not long to read. Even though there are many shortcomings, it doesn't mean that this novel doesn't have potential. But with this story I can only give 3 stars. Want a break from the cycle of toxic, stockholm syndrome relationships? This is it. The relationship between the leads is very cute, they're respectful of each other and have healthy conversations.
Am I overrating this for merely these reasons? Maybe, after a row of disappointment, my expectations rn are at an all time low. Heroic Death System & I Wasn't Born Lucky tr*sh ML, lame plot, no character MCs. G.D.I.

The characters have a vast variety of individuality, realistically interacting with each other (compared to your usual -we-all-hype-up-the-MC-for-no-reason and hold the leads on an extremely high pedestal). There's no exaggerated cannon foddering or obnoxious narration. So for the better or worse, there's no repetitive face-slapping or show off.

ML is especially commendable for his treatment towards others, it's not the overbearing, he doesn't send death glares because people misspoke in front of him, treats his employees fairly and they're also not afraid of friendly teasing ML occasionally. ML is super hands-on with the pampering (not the "I'll tell the housekeeper/assistant/secretary to do it for you" lazy ass doting). He's also not the type who'd drive someone beyond redemption for some small offenses, but will defend and protect if the situation calls for it.
MC is very supportive and loveable. He's always there for ML, to give him the love that he always desired and lacked. As a strong positive thinker, he embraced his situation quickly and adjusted well in the world he transmigrated to, fixing original host's regrets.

Although the story can get a bit stagnant midways, there's a proper climax and satisfying resolution on the follow. Most issues really only resolve themselves towards the end so there's just that tad of frustration you'd have to bear with.
Spoiler

OK, the only thing that bothered me was that both MC and ML didn't confess to each other that they have memories of the past life. I wouldn't have bothered writing this issue, if it wasn't for MC bringing it up and had actually asked for the cause of ML's affection towards him. I'd have loved it more if ML could trust him enough to answer MC honestly and not just brush it off with sweet-talk.

An overall underwhelming read.

The side couple actually had more of an interesting story than the main couple did.

The only real point of interest was MCs actual origins and MLs backstory which happens towards the end of the story.

Most of the story is basically a mediocre idol production.

I liked this novel. The story is interesting, it is well-written, and the characters are lovable. I think this story wouldn't be as good if not for the author's way of telling it. They have their own story-telling style, which intrigues the reader. It is an entertainment-based novel, which sounds a little bit boring, but actually it is very well written and interesting. Its plot isn't complicated, but how the author chooses to tell the story is the main reason why it is so gripping. The author reveals information bit... more>> by bit; they give you small puzzles that intrigue you and solve them later. They keep you guessing and making you curious, so you have no choice but to read the novel with gusto. The flow of the novel is very good too. There are interesting plot twists. It deals with sensitive topics, but it is written very lightly. Even though there are sad moments, it is still enjoyable.

Another unique trait of this story, apart from the way it is written, is that MC was reborn/transmigrated from ancient times into new times. I was interested in how MC would adapt to new times. It was surprising how well and fast he adapted. I thought it was a bit unrealistic, but later I figured out that it was just a foreshadow of the plot twist.
Because of the title and description of the story, I thought that the novel would focus only on MC and ML relationships, and that would be it. But I was wrong; actually, there were many side characters and plot twists. MC made new friends, and his social circle wasn't small. His relationship wasn't limited to ML, but he had many interactions with his friends. It was good and entertaining to read.

I loved MC. He's like sunshine, optimistic, and empathic. He is acting a bit silly sometimes, but he was only 16 or 17 when he died, so it's understandable. He is still a child. In his previous life, his standing in society wasn't simple, and he saw many things; he reads people very well and isn't easily deceived, but he is still young. I think this is one of the reasons that he is confused and acts a bit silly before his crush. But actually, he is a sharp and clever person. ML seems cold at first glance, but actually he is a caring and kind person. He too has suffered too much in the past, so he is slow to warm up to other people and does not trust easily. But after he made up his mind, he was good to MC. I loved both characters; they were really interesting and well-rounded. The interaction between them was sweet and warmed my heart.

There were other side couples, too. Usually I don't like when the story has too many couples, but this one was an exception. The novel just tells stories about different kinds of love. Some are wild and free; some are complicated and burdened; and some are naive and pure. I love every single one of them.
The novel is very good. For people who love this genre and like similar stories, it will be enjoyable reading. <<less

A cute and lighthearted story about a transmigrated bodyguard who enters the entertainment industry and a popular film emperor who was a general in his past life.

This was an enjoyable read. The pacing isn’t too fast not too slow, and the author explored a lot of characters besides the main couple, which I appreciated. The side couples also had their moment to shine and the stories of how they got together were carefully woven into the story, so we got to see their interactions slowly build up with every passing... more>> chapter.

I really got hooked on the shared story between the main character and the original soul. In the beginning I was 100% prepared for the author to simply brush over the transmigration plot, but I was pleasantly surprised to realise that wasn’t the case. It was quite interesting and it made me cook up a lot of theories in my head while I was reading.

Spoiler

Also, the way the movies Xiao Yu stared in were clearly used as foreshadowing was a genius move! It was such a nice detail!!

[collapse]

Nevertheless, there were still some things that could’ve been better, which made me give this story a total of 3.5 stars.

Spoiler

First, while I think the relationship between the main character and his body’s original soul was unique and pretty interesting, the transmigration plot could’ve been explored better — or at least more in depth. There were some inconsistencies that made me question the reasoning behind the whole concept. For example: We know Yi Chenyan was probably reincarnated, as shown through his constant nightmares and the fact he has the same appearance as the general. But in Yang Anyu’s case, there are two separate souls sharing the same appearance and name. Are they the same person, or fragments of the same soul? How does YAY gain the original soul’s memories, when the original soul does not gain his? Or was it that while they were together, he came to know every thing about the original soul’s life, and when he transmigrated into his body the memories he was regaining were in truth the knowledge he had gained while he was with the original soul?

[collapse]

Spoiler

Another thing that made me feel really sad was that the original soul was clearly distressed and had been driven to a wall. He was suffering so much psychologically and really needed professional help, and yet never got it. When he suffered from the accident, no one cared about him and he wasn’t even visited in the hospital. His half-brother, his “family”, his husband, no one even looked his way. He was completely alone. I thought that, as the story progressed, the other characters would slowly come to regret it, but what happened was the complete opposite... Both the half-brother and the general, who later realise the current Xiao Yu is a different person from the original one, actually have the nerve to say they prefer the current one and hope the other one won’t return... I can understand it to a certain extent, but why didn’t they ever try to empathise with the original soul? Argh.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The third thing that disappointed me a bit is that we never see Xiao Yu and Yi Chenyan talk about their past lives. Xiao Yu knows Yi Chenyan is the general, and Yi Chenyan has reoccurring dreams about Xiao Yu as his bodyguard, and yet they never confess to each other that they are aware of it. It would have been so satisfying if Xiao Yu had clearly told him all abouth it...
