Fan C: But I heard he’s already married, his wife must have saved the whole world in her last life ah!

Yi Chenyan: ……

Look, I love entertainment industry novels. And I liked the beginning of the novel and I enjoyed the MC's personality. But as the story went on, I gradually lost interest. It got bland. I don't know what it is specifically but I just... did not care about what was happening. Everything was blah. In the first half of the novel, I was eagerly reading each chapter as they came out, but in the latter half, I could barely be arsed to read and just kept on for completion's sake.

This novel... more>> is a miss for me. <<less

Don’t know what exactly to say, because it’s quite unique in my reading list.
I really like the main couple and how they interact. Also, the MC is not so dense, so that a big pros. MC is not s*upid and his character is likable.

I also like that there is an explanation for Da Yu and we even got to know his ending. I’m really glad author added this.

The ML character come to be not what I saw at the beginning. We understood him more at the story goes and also what and why he is doing. He is not perfect, but also a very likable character for me. Maybe even this “not perfect” is one of his best parts. He is more real.

There is not much drama here. The story is quite heartwarming, and about our MC building his career. Not overwhelming with fluff.

In short, it’s enjoyable read. I like it and recommend you to try.

I expected too much. There are too many side ship like litrally all men character has a love interest??? What the f—

Side antagonist was left too easily.

The main couple is cute though. MC is nice and sweet, like a white lotus. ML is also sweet, has a hidden secret that wasn't revealed until the ending. It was anticlimactic though.

What I love here is that main couple stands equally and are mature in dealing things. That's just about it.

It isn't really that memorable. I even skimmed through the other parts.

When I read that the intially cold and distant ML later becomes "deeply in love, devoted" blablabla I thought it would at least deliver a good romance plotline if anything else, but... I'm so disappointed. The lacking chemistry left me very confused, because they're supposedly so in love, they're each other's one and only, and so on, but... they don't even talk

Not to mention the showbiz plot itself that's so terribly lacking, illogical, and s*upid

seriously? MC is repeatedly said to have no skills, whether it be acting, singing etc,... more>> but from the get go everyone treats him as this incredible actor, and he gets fans immediately just because he's so amazing??? The next thing you know, he has tens of millions of followers...... The supposedly "bad at acting" rookie..... what.

Honestly when MC and ML confess to each other, you can drop the novel there, because it just gets worse... The MC that was dull before becomes duller. the ML that could have slowly changed becomes s*upid, overbearing, only interested in "doing rated stuff"... Just like any other badly written ML out there, but somehow worse. The plotline also gets somehow more illogical, making the villains even dumber, the only interesting characters either disappear or become flat, and so on... The MC that was so so, around the ML acts like a child, and in not a fun way... Makes me wonder what the ML sees in him, because he's just so cringe

Also the thing that keeps irking me is... There's no need to make Yu Siyuan such a persisting villain... Who cares about him, he's not even annoying, he disappeared just as fast as he appeared, so why keep bringing him up? Let it go lmao get better villains. This one wasn't even that famous.

I think the only thing that keeps me hanging on is Tang Xiao, because he seems the only character with a bit of depth, and I'm sure that that only is because the author didn't touch upon him much so far, and that I'm going to be sooo disappointed when that gets resolved (IF it gets resolved, but I'm.... honestly not hopeful) I'm 100% sure the author is going to ruin it

Also... The amount of casual fatshaming is..... *dead eyes* <<less

1.5-2/5 I guess I expected a lot more especially with the happenings at the beginning. The dog food is legit though and the fluff moments so I guess if you're bored, you can go with this since it's also short.

The story was about a transmigrated bodyguard from ancient times and met his master, who became his husband. The secrets reveal were happily accepted by the parties involved and they preferred the present version of him.

There were a lot of characters in the story that could have their own focus or... more>> novels. In relation, There were also a lot of same s*x pairs (There was the bro, the fanfic author, the former owner of the body, the agent, and others). And the gong's were nearly the same set of cold, helpless to the shou, overbearing, etc. Personalities but diff. Lvls. There were also a lot of different scenes mashed in the given chapter count (author have so many ideas ne, and some weren't that much fleshed out even though they have the potential. Some were driven longer than expected) - so much drama and face slapping and sometimes, op moves to resolve a situation and sometimes dogblood to resolve it. The mc's development seemed to regress - from a skilled bodyguard to someone acting childish and couldn't use his past strengths much (e.g. That soup scene near the end). His duality is sometimes nice and sometimes baffling -> between bodyguard killer aura and normal childish & want-to-be-spoiled. The ml's aura also wasn't felt much as an ml. Although somewhat understandable, I felt sorry for the og body host (I'm glad he was given a HE tho and that some characters' HE were written) and how he was treated. Nevertheless, I happily read on the parts where the MC acted (the acting scenes were nice to read. The tv show had potential but it was slightly messily written).

That's it for now. <<less

I would probably rate this higher if not for ... more>>
Spoiler

a s*upid car accident scene. The whole sequence is just so wrong. The same goes for the drug incident. sigh I mean, at that point, how can the MC easily drink something from someone obviously malicious to him and the ML? He is so s*upid; this man is hopeless. 🙄

[collapse]

The story is so-so. The MC in the beginning is cute, sunny, and sensible, but he somehow turns more and more s*upid afterwards. Meanwhile, the ML has a typical indifferent-to-others-but-doting-only-on-his-wife personality, which is boring but alright, and I have nothing against it.

However, as the story progresses, there are some weird character fluctuations that keep bothering me and making me confused and uncomfortable.
Spoiler

Like how the MC abandoned the original body to accompany the ML, even after he showed the tendency to do self-harm and was apparently so heartbroken because he couldn't see the MC for a few days. And the fact that the ML promised to accompany the original but, in reality, didn't come home for six months... I couldn't help but feel that both the MC and the ML were incredibly cold-blooded in this matter regarding the original, even if the author made the MC appear likeable and the ML's reasoning sound reasonable. ; (

[collapse]
The way the characters always keep secrets while constantly hinting at them is also annoying (keeping secrets is understandable; a bit of foreshadowing is also fine, but constantly jabbing at them is really cheap).

By the end of it, I don't really know what I should feel about this story. It is not that bad; my rating is also on the high side, but I just don't quite like it. To be honest, this is one of the few times that I feel like reading a novel could be so tiring. Fortunately, it's pretty short, or else I'm afraid I won't be able to finish the story at all. <<less

Am I biased because the main CP adopted a corgi? Yes.

I could go on & on about my fervent obsession for corgis but I’m sure you’d like to read about the novel. It’s fluffy, warm, somewhat reminiscent of a comic called Sweetheart V5, & I like how it had a modern, entertainment-centered setting (this is just personal preference). I really enjoyed the whole reincarnation-transmigration aspects & the passionate, “I was always searching for you” confessions of longing. But what I didn’t expect is to be suddenly stabbed with angst. The... more>> angst... was not that well-executed. I think the conflict used for this novel was pretty jarring & it felt more misplaced than anything. I still overall enjoyed the novel; c’mon there’s smut guys! <<less

It is a fluff book with a bit of angst here and there. In the beginning it had promising comedic tone but then it was all sugary and tears drama (quite a lot NSFW s*x scenes). I honestly didn't expect the story to be written this way. Quite enjoyable, light-hearted read (Nah, I had my annoyed moments, and afraid of putting this book for later because I am pretty sure I am just going to give it up like that. Thankfully, I completed it in a day). Towards the end,... more>> the book feels so anticlimatic you questioned where the first feeling when you started went.

First of all, the summary is deceiving. The fans didn't know they were married or together, till the very end. There is also no mentioned of rumours, just CPs groups common to stardom. The story started like there are going to be plenty of face slapping or putting villains in their rightful places. But that is deceiving in itself. This story, it comes off as everyone had a very good temper... to the point of being saintly. I am not kidding! If you just had banter and mismatched personality, I guess that is okay. However wishing to ruin a person career and life endlessly, but then you can be buddy-buddy, joking around, smiling sincerely. Wow. Had to say this is my first time coming across this type of MC. There are punishment but it is sorted with two three sentences of what happened to them, after they finished all their scenes. What is good is that MC and ML had quite good communication regarding their insecurity, feelings, jealousy, and all that. They are stable from early on.

Spoiler

Oh, it went through many filming processes (maybe to show MC and ML deepening relationship), but strangely after like one film, there is no more reaction from fans towards said films. No mentioned of how its reception, premieres and all that. Considering the long explanation of the film's plot and dramas while on film site, the film itself seems to be of no importance. There is no nomination scene, premiere scene, or even cinema reaction (except for MC first film). Just like translator's note of how they think it is absurd of recording show scheduled to air a week before its airing time, what not with editing and checks or in case of accident. I also felt AnYu's way of obtaining role is quite absurd. Even when playing male lead, he never had to do screen check with director to see how he interpreted the character lmao.

[collapse]

Okay, so this is the story of one of the Film Emperor (this book made it that several film Emperors can be crowned in the same generation, weirdly), Yi ChenYan found his true love that he had been waiting for 28 years. The said true love is the MC, a transmigrated soul from ancient time that died protecting past ML incarnation, Yang AnYu. It is the journey of them falling in love, building (holding his) careers, facing each other past (misgivings/misdeeds), gaining friends and bunch of side couples; holding hands overcoming the hurdles of stardom dramas.

    • Yang AnYu (MC, the shou)
Written as a sushine ball of energy, super optimistic (I am not kidding) but with good insight in guessing people with motives. But imo, his threats always sounds flat (I mean, I don't feel threatened). I think a fitting description of him is a good samaritan. A soul of 16/17 years old martial arts bodyguard, in a body of 21 years old modern boy aspiring to be an excellent actor while finding that his left ring finger is occupied upon waking up. From his name to his face, modern and ancient AnYu are like identical twins.

Spoiler

He transmigrated over after original body owner died of a car accident, while he died taking a fatal sword stab in his general's stead. The body owner had a hedonistic young master reputation with countless bad relationships. He realised that the body owner is married, to the reincarnation of his family general. His feelings for general is platonic/familial while general loved him. This time though, is different. Originally, he wanted to keep close and befriends ML. Upon closer contact, he become obsessed hidden fan of ML. Later, they mutually fall for each other.

[collapse]

    • Yi ChenYan (ML, the gong)
Initially, cold. Like very indifferent but then transform into the usual loyal dog husband. It didn't take long for him to melt.
Spoiler

He doesn't has his pastlife memories, just nightmare of ancient AnYu's blocking the sword and dying had accompanied him, all his life. He is revealed to have agreed to marry AnYu's due to his face.

[collapse]

    • Yang AnYu (the original owner body)
A very poor soul, with very undeserving father. He clearly had issues and Yang Peng saw it, but dismissed it without proper treatment. I deeply become invested in this character and glad there is one extra showing his life after the dying in the car accident. Now that I think about it, my feelings towards this book in general changed when tidbits revealed his true circumstances. He in real sense becomes more relatable, realistic and the perfect tragic MC ever.
Spoiler

It is revealed that prior to the car accident, Da Yu (him) had meet Xiao Yu (our MC). At that time, MC is in the form of ghost spirit wandering near Da Yu. Weirdly they can interact, even having real sense of touch. During this period, we saw that he is just a child wishing to turn back to the time of his simple and sweet life with his mother. Our MC with no memories of pastlife or why he is there in the first place. The ever optimistic and kind MC tried to steer Da Yu to the right path. It works at first, slowly Da Yu felt the emptiness reciding. But then Xiao Yu suddenly left him (he mysteriously now at the ML's side), Da Yu spiralled into twisted personality, hoping for chaos in Yang's family. Having fallen in love in first sight with ML, he tried to make him love him. Which he is mercilessly rejected. When ML agreed to marry him, he is overjoyed with hopeful wish they can mutually care and love eo one day. But being neglected and ignored after marriage, he turned to self harm and abuse. The final straw is the truth of ML's agreement. Feeling like Yang Peng is still laughing and playing with his life even in his death, he drunk and drive. Miraculously the ghost MC that he can't see and hear, once again is heard. His hearbroken speech of being tired of this world honest stun me and possibly triggering, to those with suicidal tendencies. Da Yu and our MC Xiao Yu then crashed the car. Assuming the ghost soul went into the body.

[collapse]

    • Qin Nuoxi (bestfriend) x Yang Jue (step-brother) CP
An extra is dedicated to this CP's history that started 8 years ago, to present status.

    • Tang Guo (MC's bodyguard) x Qi Sen (MC's manager)
An extra is dedicated to this CP's enlightment. Mostly about Tang Guo's backstory.

    • Mentioned: Mr Gu (MC's avid fan that basically handing out film's roles) x Leng Yan (Chief Leng of some corp. while also being a big CP author of main pairings).
    • Mentioned: Film emperor Xu x New film Emperor Meng.
By the end, you are going to suspect that all men in entertainment industries are gay. At least this is what this book portrayed. Honestly though, it feels it can be so much better. But as it goes on, the appeals of MC and ML waned while original Da Yu becomes the most memorable. The stable relationship that makes you still engaged while reading had to be the friendship of Qin Nuoxi, Guo Luxi and Yang AnYu. Qin Nuoxi and bodyguard Tang Guo had to be my most favourite side characters, one that is the complete opposite of each other (mature-cute, seductive-naive, laidback-frantic). But their backstory and what they are presently makes them really respectable and lovable throughout the journey.

Translation quality quite good. Just occasionally, the translator had poorly chosen how to translate the idioms used, or the pun behind name/title. Understandably though, translator had said this is hard and left the original Chinese text there. So that is a plus, to search it up by oneself. <<less

As it's so highly rated, I expected more but I felt let down. The translation itself was fine, but I felt like the story wasn't in any way unique. I guess it was enjoyable in that there's no major disagreements between the main couple but it just felt... unrealistic.

Spoiler

also every person around the main couple was gay? That's really unbelievable. The speech was also really annoying... in what universe do most guys finish their sentences with 'ne'?

This reminds me of the Chinese BL novel “How to Say I Love You”, they have similar elements but I’m enjoying both so far. MC might seem happy-go-lucky but he’s very observant. ML softens up quickly, love rhat for me. This is a light read, don’t think about it too much.

BEWARE of SPOILER

I was here for the face-slapping and it was good. The transmigrated Yang Anyu had proven to everyone that he may not have the knowledge of the modern world but, he can kick a**. As the setting was entertainment, there were lots of dramas surrounding the main couple and by proxy, the side couples. It was a short and light reading and the translator did an awesome job. It's fully translated so go and give it a try.

But! The ending is good tho. The OGMC has his own story. Nice ❤

As some readers said in the reviews, I also didn't understand why they rate this lower than 5 because I really liked and enjoy this story without even thinking of dropping and read this nonstop.

In this novel there are a lot of side couplee (maybe 3 or more) but unlike other novels, it focuses more on our main couple. But we'll get a glimpse of the ships of these couples 🥴.

Although, I was really finding some sort of a certain plot or scenes where the MC is acting on the... more>> characters he portray whenever he act on the movies or tv series, but the author didn't put that part I really want in entertainment genre in novels, still I love the flow of this novel's wonderful plot. <<less

Not yet finish but im feeling really stuffy, cuz like most "rational people" comments, ML is a total j*rk.

-at ur own risk-

Spoiler

What ML did to the modern Yang AnYu is unforgivable. It is like those novels written about sc*m gong marrying someone that has the same face as their white moonlight, they are using that person as a substitute.

That ML should get some punishment somehow, I know I know the MC is thankful and grateful to the general bla bla, but still this kind of thing being looked highly upon is disgusting.

I just don't get it, why people can easily forgive this kind of stuff, is it because of "maturity"? Tsk. Ouh and I know yall prob gonna say the modern Anyu got his HE, yeah but what I wanna condemned is the ML.

[collapse]

Anyway the translators have done a good job, imma finish the novel first and updated the comment, I will rated once I'm done reading. Imma just comment to get this stuffy feeling out.

Probably accumulated since a lot part have been skimmed (skip?), especially from that one part I remember after the ML warn that Yu actor, and then poof, that's it, use ur brain and make it in ur mind. And etc etc, ? <<less

This novel is good however there are things that I felt that portion should be more elaborate the translation is good however how it was written feels like all over the place. The last part was anti climatic. Instead of giving the OG Anyu a new life why it just made it like it was just him after all like he was actually having split personality... it would have been dramatic it was made it that way. You reach the peak only to fall down in a few seconds.. the... more>> ending felt like rushed.. author could have insert some few chapters more. I was disappointed with the villain at the end didn't expect he was just a third party who isn't even related to the caused of the problem he just one day was brainwashed had an epiphany then he sudden wanted revenge. However the emotional turmoil of MC was great it really affected me.

I pity the OG Anyu for his traumatized life and he resulted to su*cide.. and the MC didn't even say sorry.. as in apologize I can't be with you look for someone else.. or sorry I am one of the caused of your misery.. but just instead he insisted he wasn't what he was looking for..

Well we get it however just a little bit of humanity for the OG but he wasn't. He was even persistent in declining his friend advicing him nicely to find a better person than him.. why can't he just be honest and do that to the OG MC.. honestly even at first I felt detached with the ML... The cuteness of the MC and the smut that keeps me going also the mystery of why the MC was like that.. there are some scenes that actually should have been written some more.

It has a bit angst and fluff at the same time also a little bit of second hand embarrassment too 😉 but still a good read. <<less

I really like the MC in this one because he feels quite average, as in a normal human being like us. Usually, the MC's are either the sweet naive type who falls for other's traps or they are too lofty and talented to casually reverse the situation with their hidden talent. The MC here, although has a lot of hidden talent too, it's nothing that would be necessary to save his life every single time. He is goofy but also understands other's schemes, bears grudges and retaliates in petty ways... more>> as well. He seems like an ordinary actor with a good personality, not "disdainful" of the "cheap tricks" (which are not really that bad) actors use to create hype. He doesn't just let his OP powers do everything for him and puts in effort too. I don't hate the op characters but I just particularly like this MC. He would be a good actor and survive even if he didn't have his OP powers. <<less

Yi Chengan, you rouge! XD

Kind of disappointed with the last ten chapters or so. :≪ I didn't analyze it or anything while reading- it just kind of made me anticipate me for something else and then let me down at the last second. You know that feeling?

I can't help comparing novels and I tried hard not to- it's just that- it felt so abrupt. The events and motivations were explained but it felt so forced and it just makes you squint eyes while thinking, are you freaking serious? I don't... more>> know how to explain it but somehow in my mind, it does not fit with the story. I like the prior chapters tho- when there's still just anticipation and mystery of the relations. Damn this is cute! And the summary doesn't do it justice at all IMO. But then I'm finding they rarely do...

Read if you like transmigration with a fun twist of the MC bring from ancient times. The ML doesn't really remember much about or believe that he is the general, so that doesn't really come into play.
