He Xiaoyun transmigrated in the 70s and became the mother of the hero in a book. The feats of the old lady in her youth were endless: Pretended to fall into the water and drowning, relying on the soldier in the same village on saving her, drugging the other party, and then conceiving a child; Relying on having a son to separate from the family, suspecting her husband of cheating and playing around the army.

He Xiaoyun always felt that the hero’s father is doomed for eight lifetimes. She hated these kinds of people the most but she became such a person herself…

‘I feel like I can’t talk like that anymore.’

The only fortunate thing is the old lady is still just a young woman, she’s still young, beautiful, and healthy. They are three things and she recognizes the situation no matter how bad it is.

However, at night, she thought of the ‘old man’ that made the hero full of respect. Now that she’s been forced to take over, He Xiaoyun, a single dog, isn’t all that well.

A nice 70's novel without any major conflict. Its a wholesome slice of life, supportive in laws and family. Its cute but I can sense that it will bore some people for its lack of drama, but I also know that it would hit well with others. As for me, I was surprised I ddint get bored with this p, though I do wish we had some face slapping here and there even if not a major one.

This can appear somewhat lacking from the other 70's novel i've read, and... more>> precisely because I entered with expectation that I was teeny little bit let down. The MC's son, supposedly main protaganist start of the story life was only giving a passing moment but throughout the story he's there! Its cute but I did have some misgiving about the shyness protrayed by the MC at the start. I mean im okay with shyness and all, but I think it mostly have to do with it being overdone and wanting to be seen a pure white lotus that it came off a bit annoying. Once they got used to intimacy though, it got better.

The story is very short and I read it in just a day, the ending can also be somewhat lacking. I wish I read more of their capital - college life. <<less

Its not perfect but its a great novel.

MC transmigrated to a villain mother of the hero, but after MC take over I love the interaction between MC and her kid, its feel like MC is the real mother not just some random person who come into the villain mother body.

ML is the definiton of talk less do more. When he talk its either teasing his wife or just simple flirting. This serious but naughty man is really my type eh.

Its slice of life, I cant expect much for the ending,... more>> its nice cut no more no less <<less

Writing/Translation: 4/5

The translation I read is from A Dreamer's World for most of the chapters except the last 3. That one I read from oLiveUzer.

... more>> Pacing: 3/5

Rather bad pacing. Most of the story is like short stories of the MC and her family's daily life. Then, at the end of the college examination, things got a bit more exciting with meeting new people and having short encounters with people who were jealous of her, so some short face-slapping occurred. But then the story ends a few chapters later, so..

Plot: 3/5

Most of it was super chill; there was no stress in the daily life of the MC. Quite wholesome. But it was too chill for me. I wanted more action or something like watching the MC work hard to improve their lives. But the family has a pretty decent living standard, all the relatives have a harmonious relationship with each other, the husband has a high position in the army, and there isn't much of a catalyst to spur the MC to improve. We only get that she couldn't go to college after her bad previous life so she wants to do it this time and that was a pretty good incentive, actually. It's just that we don't really get to feel her studying hard or anything in the story. It was too brief and like an afterthought for that.

Romance: 3.8/5

The romance is pretty nice haha. The ML is a reticent, strong army guy but actually is super mischievous underneath. And he doesn't really force anything. It's just the MC who is shy. Actually, I don't like this tired af trope of the female being a blushing virg*n and whatever, but it's not bad here.

Setting/Worldbuilding: 3/5

Normal 60’s china era setting here. With a bit about the army’s housing situation.

Characters: 3.5/5

Personal Enjoyment: 3.3/5

I enjoyed the first half but got a bit tired of the chillness by then. I wanted more spice lol.

Easy read. Too easy, one may say. 😅 After reading a lot of dog blood stories, it's a nice change of pace. She's a transmigrator, but she didn't have any special talent or skills. She was a nice person who met nice people and had a nice 2nd life. I loved the fluff and their cute son.🥰

This is a light hearted sweet and short romance. There isn't much of a plot, but it felt like the few conflicts that came up were realistic. It didn't try to force ridiculous situations like most Chinese novels. The characters are likeable too. Honestly the least believable part of the story is how good the ML is to the FL. Worth a read if you want something that isn't too serious or aggravating.

As per the reviews a short story of a lady who was transmigrated into a book Army wife in the 70's. Other than a personality change - she has no system or any talent to help her in this life. It is a sweet lice of life story. No dog fight with any members of family - harmonious in laws and own family. Great read!

A very sweet transmigration story and credit to the writer and translator that the writing doesn't feel immature like a lot of web novels out there, that is like the half the hurdle for me. I for one actually like the mother son bond in this novel, a lot of the web novels give these transmigrated heroines children that are too smart or are never able to make the relationship between the mother and child seem genuine and somewhat real. So in this one our FL actually felt like a... more>> mother and thought like one. The main romance was a sweet one, our ML is a sweet and suave guy I won't say the author gave layers to him or something he is just a good guy, but this is a short novel and with a slice of life vibe, I just like being with our FL and seeing her fall in love with him gradually so I don't have complaints regarding that.

There is one thing I would like to complain about though, our FL adapts too well, like I get she was from the mountains before etc but still a girl in the modern era is now in place of a village girl that did some misdeeds, she adapted so well with this girl's family how come no one was like you changed so much, even the ML how come he didn't go you were my greedy wife before how did you turn into frugal squirrel. There is also the casual web novel looks description here if you have read enough you know what I mean.

But still this was a very sweet read, the FL was relatable in the sense I felt I was reading the perspective of a regular human and not a web novel leading lady. Would recommend to anyone in the mood for a sweet and short transmigration story. <<less

If you're looking for slice of life, then you can't get any more slice of life than this story. Seriously, it's all about the daily life of a transmigrator. Absolutely no drama was involved! Based on the premise, you might expect to see some of the more common CN slice of life tropes. Like shameless inlaws or unforgivable love rivals, but there was really none of that here. It was all about the slowly blossoming love between a transmigrator who suddenly found herself with a husband and a three year... more>> old child. She accepted reality pretty quickly, but was still rather shy when it came to the love aspect. As such, the main focus of the story was the awkward slow burn romance between her and her already husband.

I quite liked it! I think some people may find it a bit boring, and honestly, if I had read it any other time, I'm not sure my impression would be all that good. However, it just so happened that this was the kind of experience I was looking for. I'm busy doing other things, so having this short and simple slice of life novel was just right for me! Of course, I wouldn't have liked it all if the author didn't do such a good job with the characters. There might not have been complex dramas, but the characters felt very real, and it was easy to care about what was happening to them despite their daily lives being relatively simple and sweet.

AS FOR THE RATING... I think this novel falls under the "average read, but there's something about it" category. Based on my usual scale, that's at around 3.15 stars to 3.45 stars. For the sake of my list, I've decided to give it 3.4 stars out of 5 directly! Not quite enough to round up to 4, but because of my good impression this time around, better than the others in the same category. <<less
