The Male Lead’s Wife in the ’80s

Su Man-er had transmigrated into a period novel and became the male lead’s newly wedded wife in the ’80s. He had spent every dime in his possession and more to marry her. The little delicate wife had previously heard that the male lead was impotent from the female lead. And so, she made a scene on her wedding day and had an affair on the third day!

Su Man-er transmigrated to the point in the story when the original owner was hiding in a hut with a man while the male lead and the villagers were waiting outside to catch them red-handed.

As the elite of the flower demon clan, Su Man-er didn’t even hesitate before she knocked the man out. Humph, a man like that wasn’t even worthy enough to touch her feet!

***

“Do you want your official female lead back?” asked Su Man-er. For some odd reason, when the words “official female lead” left her mouth, she felt a sense of unease, as though… as though there was a thorn stuck in her heart.

Chi YunChen looked at her profoundly and said, “If she was the one that I wanted to be with, I wouldn’t have sided with you during the hut incident. Su Man-er, now that I have married you, I will be responsible for you for the rest of my life. Unless you don’t want to be with me and don’t want to be my wife anymore.”

As long as she stayed, he’d be her loyal husband for life.

Su Man-er was touched by his words. Biting her lip, she hesitated on what to say.

On the other hand, he suddenly reached out, grabbed her on her shoulder, and said, “I have been frank with you. Isn’t it your turn now to do the same?”

The villains are c*ckroaches. Slap them a few times and they keep coming back again with the same schemes. Really, its very tiring to read. I don't know why I even MTL'ed this. Driven by the curiosity to find out MC's identity?

The story then fast forwards in a matter of few chapters. MC and ML moves to a new house. MC gets pregnant and creates a booming perfume business. Author can't even write more than one or two chapters for this development to happen when she spent tens of chapters... more>> about the villains repeating the same schemes. Total waste of time. <<less

I want to say wtf! The authors took 3/4 of the novel detailing about how the FL single handedly and overpoweredly slapped all the braindead villains, the ML just dicking around occasionally giving his input even tho it's HIS family that's in trouble, but he needed the wife to defend them for him! Meanwhile the author spend literally a chapter to talk about their kids! It's as though the author got sudden writerblock. I like the idea of 80s China but wtf is this? Is this supposed to only consentrate... more>> on b*tch-slapping half-wit villains? Damn now I kinda want my time back lmao <<less

The story was okay, not much in it. It is quite a simple story that you can read when you have nothing to do.

In every few chapter there will be someone trying to find trouble with MC and her family, just like c*ckroaches they keep coming back no matter how many times the MC slaps their face (figuratively not literally).

This happens until about chapter 50-60.

... more>> Other than that, there's not too much drama in it, everything is smooth sailing.

They were some parts in the story that could be expanded more to make a more compelling story. However, I find that in the latter part of the story, it feels a little rushed and a bit bland.

On the bright side, there are some things that I like in the story,

    • the romance between MC and ML (its no much but at least it's there),
    • the ML family
    • the MC father and brothers (wish I could see more of them)
    • MC's 'luck'
Overall a solid 3. Just okay. Nothing else to it. <<less

no kidding, at least 80% of this book is spent on fighting off shrews lol. And other families other than mc's and ml's are all useless. The familial relationships and the romance weren't developed enough because MC was too busy fighting off said shrews. There were also so many unnecessary passersby comments.

Spoiler

their daughter was really really op; a genius 2 y.o who inherited mc's demonic powers

[collapse]

i somehow finished it and I would like to ask myself why.

I think the other reviewers summarized it well. The plot is slow until about two-thirds is the way in, then suddenly it feels like the author is rushing to finish. That being said it was a light and entertaining read. Sure we have the usual modern FL transmigrating into an older period and having to survive life in the countryside in a book but the little twists the author writes into the characters are fun to read. The fact that she’s a flower demon is interesting because she has unique... more>> ways to solve some of the problems she faces. For example, to deal with the family’s poverty she goes into the mountains and finds rare herbs with the help of the animal spirits that communicate with her. The ML felt a little dry in the romance department at time but at the end of the day, he’s a pretty solid husband. The end with their daughter was a little weird because she’s OP af. Lol I don’t get why some of these novels write such strange and/or lackluster extras about the main couple’s kids. A lot of the time reading about their kids leaves me liking the original story a bit less because the new characters aren’t usually likeable and the new problems introduced kind of take away from all the cute we saw before. <<less

It's a story full of magic and as simple as a fairy tale for preschoolers. So, do not expect a work of literary art from it. I rated it high only because I was in the mood for reading something plain and unsophisticated and this story is exactly that. By the end of it my rating dropped sharply to one or two stars at most, but the bulk of the story is actually OK, definitely better than one or two stars.

This story's magical elements are rather pretty.

Spoiler

The FL is a transmigrated yao, a spirit of a fragrant flower yao (a magical being that can be a person or a flower) from a cultivation world, who somehow ended up in a C-novel in the 1980s as a recently married schoolgirl (her stepmother sold her to the poorest village household for $1288 (bride price) that the family had to borrow from everybody. The FL is so magical that even her hair has a unique magic of its own! She befriends several animals from the mountain forests nearby and eventually has a little daughter that is many times more powerful than she is.

Her husband, who is the ML of the novel, actially knows that he is in a novel. In his past, he transmigrated out of his body into the real world, our present times, trained in martial arts, cultivated his spirit, and two years later returned into his novel body, broke the spell of the plot of that novel, and married the FL instead of the predestined heroine of the novel. His sons inherit his martial arts strength.

So, the main source of conflict is that heroine who needs to get her man back at all costs or else survive without him and the ML's and the FL's shameless family members who live apart from them, but bother them nearly daily.

I don't know why it was only rated of 3.7. As for me, I will rate this story 5 as the highest score. I like the plow and the plot of the story.

It was indeed a very good story for me. For thousands of similar story on web, it was one with a very awesome and good FL and one of my fave. This story was already save on my reading list.

Waiting for the other chapters.

I enjoyed reading some parts of the novel, but something was bothering me a lot while reading it.

I hate when authors include an audience who are so s*upid and wishy-washy, like how is it that y’all are so easy to deceive? So basically every time something happens between heroine vs. villainess, we get commentary from the people around them (and they always switch side with every second)... Anyways, the couple were cute.

Go ahead and read this! It's only 70+ chapters that you can read in one sitting. It's enjoyable and light read. Not much thinking is needed for this novel. Below are the reasons why I gave 4 stars and not 5.
    • The villains are brainless. They repeatedly do s*upid things in relation to the MC and it backfires every time. They have no character development whatsoever. They are very similar to NPCs who are only programmed to say or do one thing and stick to it til the end.
    • The romance of the story was bunched up towards the end. You don't see much of the sweetness of the couple. After sharing their secrets, they end up having s*x. It's very one dimensional.
    • The extra chapters are unnecessary and amateurish. Author should have allotted his/her energy in writing more of the romance between MC and ML instead.

If you're looking for a quick fix then this would probably give it IF you're not particularly finicky. The plot looked interesting then you read the first few chapters and the hints about the hidden qualities of the protagonists make you excited to see their development... Until the author loses steam. It could have been material for a thousand-chapter book. At any rate the last few chapter are cute enough to somehow make up.

The phasing of the story was slow until around chap 50 then it became fast. For me, the story was okay/fine like you can enjoy when you are bored.

The story is about the MC and ML's life after marriage. The scene starts with MC outwitting her enemies like the synopsis says.

The attack from MC and ML came fast and swift for their enemies. There are plot holes and inconsistency, and the ML and MC both have golden fingers.
Spoiler

they have superpowers explained by their transmigration.

[collapse]

Honestly an OK read. It's not bad but it's not great either. I think the author ran out of inspiration in the middle of writing this novel. The ending feels rushed and rough. The extras focused entirely on their daughter.

This novel, ai, what can I say. It's almost entirely self-indulgent. You know, it's that kind of novel where the MC is super beautiful and everything that she wants conveniently falls onto her lap. The romance is also pretty basic and shallow, and there are lots of plotholes everywhere. If I wasn't bored just now and out of other things to read, I wouldn't have made it so far XD At the end, I kept reading just to see how much more ridiculous it got (and it got very ridiculous... more>> LMFAO). ANYWAY, it's not good. Very clumsily written and amateurish overall. However, if you want a tr*sh novel to chew on when you have nothing else to do, it's not a bad choice. I mean, when it comes to the most common tropes and such, this has got it all.

Summary: The MC is a flower demon (from the modern world) who finds herself transmigrating. She ends up playing the role of the newly wedded wife of the story's protagonist. In the story, she was destined for a bad end at the hand of the selfish heroine (who is written as a completely selfish person here). However, with her wits, she not only fights against the original protagonist but also culls the ML's vicious family members.

If you enjoy face-slapping and are not looking for anything complicated, you might want to try reading this. The TL is not complete, but it got pretty far, and the MTL (if you plug it into Google Translate) is not bad either. As for me, my opinion of the novel isn't all that good. But I still read it XD. So, I think it's worth at least 2.85/5 stars. Definitely on the lower end for me, but it's not the worst. <<less

It is such a cute story. The last chapters felt a bit rushed but still enjoyable. It’s a bit short didn’t feel we got to know all the characters properly. The villains were indeed s*upid and repetitive but all the supporting characters were really interesting to me. Honestly wouldn’t mind reading more about them.

I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but it’s definitely not good. Boring. With s*upid antagonists who react exactly the same regardless of the severity of the matter (like they are equally upset at a trying to kill b, then at b for lying, then b says a gossip about something absolutely insignificant about a and everyone is then mad at a, etc etc over again). And nothing seems to actually change after this has happened multiple times.

the premise of the story is really interesting and is a light read, it's about the FL fixing all the misunderstandings easily and setting up a happy home with her husband's family

at the beginning it was really slow-paced but then it sped up and kind of disrupted the pace of the story. I felt like the author just wanted to finish writing it in less chapters

Spoiler

i thought there were some missing chapters from ch 58 and on, so there's some loopholes after that

[collapse]

but still I enjoyed the fact that there where no major misunderstandings between the couple, both are mature and talk things out

i just wanted more fluffy moments
Spoiler

because in the middle it mainly focused on the FL, face-slapping everyone who wanted to f*ck her husband's family & basically working to gain money, but it did not focused on the ML because he was on a secret mission (so no chapters for the ML)

[collapse]

so I feel like the romance settled quite fast after their 1-month separation, well as thet say "distance makes the heart grow fonder"

but the last chapters were quite enjoyable because of the cute moments <<less
